A.In the last 2 months me and my partner decided we want to buy better quality meat, which is better for the environment and ourselves. Thankfully, we came across considerate carnivore to fullfil this need. They do delivery which is great, as we live a little way out from Botley.
So we have tried beef brisket, beef mince, leg of lamb, sausages, burgers, chicken breast and chicken drumsticks.
All have been absolutely delicious! You can tell the difference in quality. However, the only one we did not enjoy was the chicken drumsticks. We did our usual recipe, which we'd do with supermarket drumsticks, and the meat came out tough and skin rubbery. I did notice the meat is a lot browner so I probably need to learn to cook this type of free range chicken. We will give the drumsticks one more try, and hope they turn out better. Perhaps put them in the slow cooker. Don't let this put you off this company though. I'm just being honest with our experience. and the customer service and the rest of meat has been wonderful!

The location is amazing, the shop is clean, beautiful and welcoming. The gentlemen were polite and explained with passion their support to local farmers that care about nature. The products are of a very high quality, and superbly presented. The flavours of the meet, sausages etc, brought me back to my childhood when the farmers had no supermarket strangle and could produce excellent products. Well done and congratulations for a great business concept. Will be back.

Hands down the best butchers I have visited. Great location by the river with a little brewery next door. Definitely worth a special trip, you won’t regret it!
J. J.We have had the lamb chops this evening.. and as soon as they hit our mouths, we all looked up in shock as how juicy and sweet they were. Honestly, never tasted lamb like it. They were seasoned with a little vegetable oil, onion salt, garlic powder, salt, pepper and rosemary but the taste of the lamb blew us all away. 🤤

U.We are fairly new shoppers to Considerate Carnivore and in future we will be regulars.We decided as big meat eaters we need to be more selective about where our meat comes from particularly beef. This weekend we had a spectacular family lunch of Bbq Chicken so full of flavour and Rib of Beef with our homemade Chimi Churi. The quality of the beef was definitely the best we’ve eaten outside Argentina!!!

We also tried your BBQ pack x 2-4persons, and shared it with our neighbours.It was a winner! Our Korean friend especially loved the peppered chicken wings!
I would prefer another seasoning, perhaps sweet chilli sauce?
My husband has already commented on the delicious leg of lamb. This fed 6 on Easter Sunday and was enjoyed by us on monday too. Thank you.

M. X.This butcher is brilliant, the staff are really friendly and welcoming. There is nothing that is too much for this small butcher and has a great variety of meats. I had a piece of sirloin steak which was tender and wonderful in taste. The best bit of steak I've had for years.
Please, please go to this butcher if you want any meat, they are a very reasonable price for the amount of meat you get . True value for money.
D.I recently heard about this place and it looked and sounded great, so I drove from Bournemouth to check it out and it was well worth the trip! The guys there are really friendly and happy to chat about the produce and how it's raised and locally sourced. I bought sausage, bacon and rib eye steak, and so have just had a nice mixed grill for lunch and it was deelish!!! The bacon doesn't shrink at all, and the rind crisps up to proper crackling, and the rib eye was really rich and tasty, by far the best I've ever had at home! Prices were very good too especially for such a premium product

J. H.Great butchers with amazing variety. We bought a joint of pork on Sunday morning for a roast and you could taste the difference in the quality of meat. Also came away with some lovely chicken and leek sausages and 2 bones for our sausage dogs which were nearly as big if them, given to us very kindly free of charge. Will be going back.
D. E.This is now our 'go to butcher'. I accept it isn't the cheapest but that's because they care about the quality of the meat they supply. They care enough to know where its come from, the life its led and the way its been treated.
The meat is absolutely amazing; full of flavour and you can taste the goodness. The shop itself is quirky although its a little hidden away, the displays are mouthwatering and the range extensive. But where it really excels is the customer service. A great team, really friendly and nothing is ever too much trouble.
Do yourself a favour; if you care about how you fuel your body and demand the best give the Considerate Carnivore a try!
T. F.The name is not just for show, they do take it seriously. Great ethical principles behind sourcing excellent quality meat. They cut up the meat in the shop, so they can get you any cut you may want. So far we got mince, steaks, and stew meat, all very fresh, tender, really superb quality. They also offer local delivery, though half the fun is going into their spotlessly clean shop to see the spread they have.

R. C.Since hearing about the Considerate Carnivore moving to Botley Village I had to sample it for myself. I ended up going for much more meat than I intended as it all looked so good. The particular products that really exceeded included their Grinderhouse sausages which are unbelievably delicious as well as the Lamb burgers which were equally amazing.
Once restrictions are lifted further I intend on hosting a BBQ with all the meat sourced from the best butchers I've ever found. Thank you again for a lovely friendly service and guidance on produce.

The team go out of their way to help in any way they can, I visited ten minutes before closing for some bacon and they carved me some then and there despite me being completely unorganised! Delicious meat made all the better knowing it has been bred sustainably and looked after well.

D.Absolutely amazing. Great range of meats, helpful and knowledge butchers and our first pleasant visit. We picked up some lamb for Easter Sunday and it looks incredible. We also picked up some pork belly cuts and had some for lunch.
T. S.I heard good things about this place so popped in to grab some fillet steak. It's only one person allowed inside currently so bring a brolly if it's raining. The two guys were really knowledgeable and chatty. The steak was superb! Best fillet I've had, including those from restaurants.

A. M.Fantastic streaky bacon! Stumbled upon them while getting a pint at the Hidden Tap recently and could not be happier, a really nice selection of high quality meats, got some lovely hot sausages and chipolatas, but the smoked streaky bacon was the standout. Also very friendly and helpful.

Despite our guests being 1h late, which rendered the meat a little overcooked, there were no leftovers. The meat was amazing! I just had to review and let others know about this hidden gem.

S. B.Naturally reared, free roaming and not fed on a diet of growth hormones and antibiotics. This is how meat should be and would have been when I was growing up. Had the chicken and it was easily the best I've had in ages and the bacon was like bacon we had growing up. I am so excited to have been introduced by my friends and I will be telling everyone.
J. L. L.I am gonna be honest, i'm Portuguese and i've lived most of my life in a farm, where my mom raised or own meat.. then I've moved to London few years ago... When we can we bring small portions of frozen food in our suitcases to eat in the next days hehe... When living in London i got used to Tescos, Lidl and small butchers (whom btw when i asked for pig got lamb instead.. that story for another day..). Then when visiting friends in Portsmouth i got to try some "special" meat and oh lord, it felt like i was in my moms farm eating fresh / home raised meat. It's more pricey then Tescos but really.. i've never met anyone that said that big stores meat is good. Let alone self-sustain.
EDIT: I've just learned that this store opened recently, felt like they are on this for years! 5*****
