M. N. I.As always, Neary's provides an excellent service. Wonderful meat of the best quality. This is my go to butcher. Having tried numerous others in the area before finding Neary's, I can confidently state that this is the best I've found in York. I would urge anyone looking for a butchers to give it a try.
C. B.Tony Neary's is the best butchers shop in York. All the meat is locally sourced. The furthest travelled items in the shop are the eggs from Market Weighton . All manner of sausages that are delicious, including I've heard (don't know if it is true) 'black pudding' sausages, wonderful pork pies, free range chicken. All served by highly experienced butchery staff, especially Karl the young and handsome butcher/owner. Sandwiches available in their next door shop- delicious.

Y. T.Food quality, service, price... all unbeatable. Supermarket meat has made us lose the taste of proper food as provided by Neary’s. The only negative is that Karl is a Leeds United supporter, but worth putting up with that for the meat quality, etc.

R. J.This is such a brilliant butchers; I feel incredibly lucky to have them so close to my house. The price is, I guess, marginally higher than you'd pay for mid-range supermarket produce, but the quality of the meat is *infinitely* superior. It's actually far more affordable than I'd expect... and frankly it's worth every penny. As someone sadly used to supermarket meat, I was amazed the first time I bought bacon from here and watched as it stayed plump and juicy in the pan, instead of shrivelling up and releasing loads of water. The chicken breasts are massive and very tasty (I always thought chicken was rather bland but here it isn't!) But best of all are the INCREDIBLE sausages!! They are good value at the best of times but sometimes they do a deal, so we snap them up when we can. Every flavour is delicious; we haven't had a dud. We like to get a mix and then every mouthful is a surprise!!
If you want something specific, it's worth asking in advance. I once went in for lamb mince and they didn't have it, but explained that next time if I warned them, they'd get it in for me. (I bought beef mince instead and it was terrific). I think that's brilliant service for a small local business!
There are so many reasons to shop here. Yet another one is that you're using less packaging, since unlike the supermarkets, nothing comes in moulded plastic tubs and boxes.
They also sell vegetables and eggs, all at extremely reasonable prices, and - again - fantastic quality. I had some potatoes from here which were genuinely some of the nicest ones I've eaten in a very long time. These guys can do no wrong. They're the best part about living in Clifton Green!!
