Excellent experience at Motorpoint Derby. I arrived without an appointment to view a car I’d seen online. When I got there the vehicle wasn’t on site, but the salesman Robbie quickly arranged for it to be brought round for me to look at and test drive. After taking the car out we looked at the figures, including a decent valuation for my part ex which matched the estimate provided online. A few hours later and I was driving my new car home. Coffee and food was provided while I waited and the whole experience was generally hassle free. All staff friendly. I am delighted with my new car. It is in perfect condition and was the spec I was looking for at a good price. There was some cashback due from my part ex and again this was arranged quickly. Robbie responded on his day off and later that day I had a call from the finance team to arrange it as promised. All in all a great experience and would highly recommend.

All round great experience, completely hassle free! (Derby Branch) From when we first walked on the court, we were welcomed to the site, explained about the layout of the vehicles and the process if we wanted to take a closer look inside any car, then Joe was happy to leave us to look over the vehicles in our own time; he even came to hand us an umbrella when it started to rain! After looking over a particular car, again we were handed the keys and Joe was happy to allow us just to sit and get a feel for the car etc and then told us where to find him afterwards. We were able to arrange a test drive immediately and we were straight out test driving the car, unaccompanied, the same day. (1st of 2 test drives) Joe was always on hand over email all week with any question we had and I never once felt like I was being bothered by or bothering someone. After a very generous Part-ex deal, I arrive to collect my new car, it was perfectly presented, clean and shiny, we were able to take it for another spin before making the final leap, at this point the part-ex and handover/collection of my new car with Lewis was easy and very straightforward. Then the rest is history, very happy overall. Service was great, Joe and Lewis both very friendly, easy to get on with and professional, top notch customer service, free coffee/tea/hot chocolate/water etc, most importantly new car is mint. Aftersales contact a nice touch too, had both lads contact me to see how I'm getting on with the car and if there was any issues at all. Don’t normally leave any reviews but props to Joe and Lewis, so hopefully they can have a bit of a recognition. All other staff seemed friendly and courteous in passing too. Definitely would recommend! - 10/10

Just sold my Range Rover to them. Exceptionally quick transaction. NO kicking tyres and dropping the price. Simply paid the price that they gave me on their website. Great customer service from Holly. Will use them again when selling any future cars.

Positives: Generally great cars, at what they claim are the cheapest in the Country. Laid back customer care, no pushing, only offers to help, supply keys, free coffee (excellent, by a fussy coffee drinker). Negatives: Prices will not be discounted, for any reason. Offered £ 1,000 less (around 15%) Part Exchange than various on-line car buyers (MotorWay, webuyanycar.com etc.) and £ 3,000 less than general Private Sale Prices. Our car was not prepared when we came in to collect it the following day after ordering and paying a deposit. Marks on the bonnet and drivers mirror had not been removed as promised. However, Ricardo, our Hand Over Agent sorted out both of these within a few minutes. Top marks to him! There was only an offer for Gap Insurance, which we declined. However, we may have been interested in the Paint Protection and Camera options, if they had been offered. The car drives like a dream and is very nice, but once we got home, we noticed that one tyre is different to the others. Conclusion: I think that Motorpoint buy cheap & sell cheap. Generally, their cars & Vans (I did buy an excellent van from them previously and was very impressed) are in very good condition, under 3 years old, low mileage and great value. However, watch out for minor issues like paint and interior damage or multiple owners and uncertain Service Records.

A large choice of 3 year old or newer cars. All looking to be in immaculate order. Only downside is that the person you talk to online or by phone is not the person you deal with in person. So, all deals initially done are not upheld. A shame really, as the Motorpoint staff we met were polite, when you can find them, but hands tied by 'the management' on the other end of a phone line that was in constant use during the negotiations. Really difficult to argue with someone out of sight, which is why they do things this way. Still bought the car though, but will know what to expect next time - if there is one. Our experience with the car we bought will be the deciding factor in that decision.

Lovely service at pick up last Friday, unfortunately my lovely new car doesnt allow google do i have spent my time learning all the other gadgets and gizmo's instead of leaving review. Dom looked after me very well and even helped me connect my phone etc, even found brown bread (#fussyme) for a bacon sandwhich whilst i waited, with a lovely brew.. First time buying a pretty new car, did some searching and shopping ( online and in person) over a few months and was cautious but so far very happy 😁

Huge choice of nearly new cars. All of the staff we encountered were friendly & courteous. No hard sell or pressure to buy. Bought a Honda CRV-very low mileage & in immaculate condition at least £1000 cheaper than the Honda dealer. Corey Hodgkinson (sales executive) was very helpful, knowledgeable & incredibly nice, happy for us both to test drive our choices before making a decision. On the day of collection the 'controls' etc were explained to us happily & patiently. We even got a free Bacon cob & tea. Overall a very positive experience. Had my faith in the motor industry fully restored by the very helpful staff on hand at Motorpoint Derby on a recent visit. I was having a nightmare day getting rid of my old car and turned up 35 minutes late for my 2pm appointment. The staff were accomodating, recognised my stress and, completely umprompted, provided my wife, kids and I with food and drinks which was amazing as we hadn't eaten lunch! Adam Brookes and Lewis Gunter, in particular, were very helpful in ensuring my wife and I got the right car and drove away happy. It was refreshing to deal with unassuming, sympathetic and non-pushy sales people. I will be recommending and have no hesitation in coming back again (although hopefully not for a few years yet!) :-). Keep up the good work in looking after the people and the cars will sell.

I bought a car here so can't be all bad. But the sales techniques are a bit old school. When the final price was arrived at there was no breakdown. Just the gap amount to pay after trade-in. I had to demand a breakdown and it was then I noticed they had significantly reduced my expected trade-in value. Had to get another guy in to increase the value. As the location doesn't have a vast selection on site, you're probably going to get a car from another branch. Watch out for delivery charge. There's also a constant sales pitch for the extra expensive options, where obviously their profits are made. I've written this before delivery of the car. I'll be back, if there's any more issues !!!

Prior to our visit to Motorpoint at Derby I'd spotted a car on their website. We went on spec and were greated by sales person, Corey who located the vehicle in their outdoor yard gave us the key and left us to look in our own good time, this was a refreshing approach and we guess is a legacy of Covid. Next we had a test drive and again given the keys for an unaccompanied test drive we liked this laid back no hassle approach, full marks to Motorpoint. We are buying the car, we had a very fair trade in value for our current car and the car we are buying is a fair price too. There was no pressure to buy, Corey did a super job of balancing selling with customer interaction. We would recommend Motorpoint, the site is looking a little dated but all is good within with friendly people.

Fantastic service, from initial contact, through to aftercare. The sales team were very professional and quick in sending me relevant updates and useful info. We collected our car three days ago and felt the entire experience was brilliant. The following day I noticed a couple of snagging issues (only minor, a parking sensor was out of line)I called back and they immediately booked me in for the following morning. A typical Car Supermarket type of place. LOTS of cars to chose from of all shapes and sizes and plenty of staff ready and willing to help. Didn't feel pressured, staff simply wanted to help which was nice and was happy to show me around a car which I wasn't buying, but interested me which I thought was nice. Cars are arranged in separate areas for easy navigation and plenty of stock on 'the system' not on display so ask if you can't see what it is you want. He was very professional, polite and nothing was too much trouble for him. He even brought the vehicles we were interested in into the showroom as it was pouring down. Everything was explained fully to us before we decided to purchase. The process was easy from start to finish. The vehicle would be ready for collection on the 17th. We arrived to collect our vehicle and was dealt with by Dominic at collections who went over everything again with before signing. We inspected the vehicle again before completing. Again the process was quick and easy. Dominic was again professional and polite. I even left my sunglasses in my old car and Motorpoint are going to post them out to me. Excellent service. Having test driven a car at a local dealer but not being convinced we were being offered a fair price on the deal, I looked on line. From that I could see our local garage was far from competitive and we found at Motorpoint a deal that was very good value for money. From their website I phoned them and their staff were helpful and courteous, not at all push and no "press button 1, press button 2..." as part of the phone call. We reserved the car with a deposit over the phone and arranged to collect the car from Derby. We were offered some extras,gap insurance and paintwork protection, but without being pressured. On arrival we were welcomed and taken to the person dealing with our purchase and offered tea/coffee. We were given ample time to inspect the car so we could be sure we wanted to go ahead. Had we withdrawn, the deposit would have been refunded. The car was excellent. The paperwork was dealt with promptly. There was a reasonable amount of fuel in the vehicle to drive away. I couldn't fault the service.

Have too say the service at Motorpoint Derby was excellent from looking at a vehicle online and talking to Sam in the call centre who was very polite and helpful. We collected the vehicle from Lydia who was so lovely! She took us out for a test drive said to take as much time as we needed to experience the vehicle before agreeing to purchase it she put our minds at ease whilst going through all the paperwork, she then brought the vehicle into the show room as it was dark so we could check the vehicle fully, she even looked round the car with us and got the maintenance staff to fill a couple of little marks that were on the bonnet! she was an absolute super star! Rated 5 stars for the great price offered here. Purchased a Mercedes a month ago and had no problems mechanically since purchasing. Was valeted before picking up. Would of cost me a few thousand pound to purchase the same model elsewhere. Had a problem with the windscreen, contacted head office and they arranged for me to go back to the dealership. Was promptly seen and a solution put in place, no questions asked. Felt the add ons to the sale was pushed a bit but after stating I wasn’t interested they didn’t push me further. Overall a great buying experience with a great range of cars to look at, definitely worth visiting if you are in the market for a nearly new car.

I was seen quickly but not rushed while looking round the car then taken on an excellent test drive where I was relaxed and was also talked through options by Simon, who was most knowledgeable. It was not a pushy or hard sell and I was free to make up my own mind, how I wanted to. I wasn't able to take it away the same day as there was a small issue to be looked at on the car but he left contact details if I had further questions and booked me in for a collection suitable for me. I purchased my new car from and it still running sweet as anything 5 years on, a well looked after car is a well looked after driver. I was disappointed at the service from the show room staff as they all was very quick at sharing their opinions of cars in which did conflict mine, it appears that their only interest was to get more money and I higher priced car sold than to meet my individual needs

Just purchased a car from there. Tracy who dealt with the pick up process was excellent as was Kay who sold us the car. At home, no one ever gets me a drink, at motor point I was asked constantly, hot chocolate, tea, coffee, gin and a lovely single malt whisky to name a few. Never have I been so hydrated. So on that basis They're better than my family. One thing wasn't clear.. How I get my commission for writing a review. I thought it worth my time with the promise of' massive discounts'. To summarise, good cars, good staff, free drinks, great exit barrier - the operator is obviously experienced.. Oh and the alcoholic beverages and reviewer discounts may not be true.

Not the best and not the worst. All sales people are the same, they'll tell you what you want to hear to get the sale and are never 100% honest. Just keep your guard up and never make a snap decision, always go home and sleep on any decision that involves a large purchase. In saying all of that the staff were friendly enough and the depot was clean and busy.

Purchased a car from Motorpoint Derby last month and whilst the car is brilliant and all work that needed doing was done before I collected, the salesman's tactics very nearly put me off completely. He tried and tried to sell us Return to invoice Gap Insurance, even when we asked for a few minutes alone to discuss it a sales manager came over and also tried to persuade us to buy despite being asked to be left alone. Sales tactics are very pressurised, guessing they earn a fair amount of commission on every policy sold! BEWARE when they tell you you have to decide there and then so they can get the paperwork sorted before you collect the vehicle THAT IS A LIE, when I collected my car I was told that they cannot do the paperwork for the policy until 3 days after you first make contact with them!! Not nice being lied too and pressured into something. You have 3 days to make up your mind, don't listen to the lies.

The collections staff have been brilliant and very accommodating. I feel very let down by the finance team. The process has been difficult as there didn’t seem like a regular flow with who I spoke to and what I needed to do. I was told to come to the office to sign paperwork and when I got there I was told I didn’t need to sign anything. After continuous chasing that they had everything they needed i was continuously told that they have and everything and it would be ready for collection on the Saturday. Around 7.30 on the Friday I was told they actually needed the settlement figure that I could have provided to them days in advance and this now may cause delay. 5 hours waiting for the car on collection day I am still waiting and it’s not looking likely I will be taking the car home today. If it wasn’t for Jo in collections and her constant help I would have walk away!!!

Well initially I had an excellent experience bending over backwards to help but on collecting my purchase nobody seemed to know what was happening (including the other 4 people waiting to collect) I eventually collected the car with the understanding that they were sourcing a second key for me and the car would be taken back to them the following week with a list of small scratches etc to be sorted .. well again going to collect we had to be quite forceful to get someone who was clearly standing chatting to a work colleague to chase it up to find only half the jobs were done as they lost the list 🙈 you really couldn’t make this up .. still no 2nd key so i called after 4 wks and asked someone if it had been organised only to be told I had to deal with the local dealer for my car (didn’t I buy this from Motorpoint - why am I having to chase this) well all I can say is they are not interested as I did not buy the car from them giving me some story about the key coming from Italy .. really 🙈 we are now over 6 weeks and yup still no key and I am getting the bodywork sorted myself even though I stupidly paid £350 for F1 Williams stuff don’t bother it clearly is a scam as it looks awful ..I did this as a job a long time ago and I certainly would not have let a car go out the showroom with chunks of paint and scratches on the bodywork.. all in all be careful of your experience as you may get stung 2 weeks later and I still have no 2nd key

I recently purchased a nearly new Seat Leon FR from Motorpoint Derby. Overall the experience was a very positive one. The initial salesman I talked to tried to sell a few extra products but he certainly wasn't over the top and insistent. I put a £300 deposit down for the car as I lived a fair distance from the site with the promise that it would be refunded if I didn't like the car. When I arrived at Motorpoint in Derby I was offered a drink and told someone would be with me shortly. within a few minutes I was shown to the car and left to my own devices to check out the vehicle without anyone looking over me.It was in great condition, I let them know I'd like to make the purchase, and within 20 minutes the car was mine. The only slight drawbacks were no second key and no service book and manual. The saleswoman promised these would be with me in 3 weeks of purchase, and sure enough, I received all of the missing items. All in all a really positive experience and I'd happily purchase another vehicle from Motorpoint without question.

Bought a 1 year old passat estate and traded in my 59 plate passat that I also bought from Motorpoint almost 6 years ago. The experience was stress free, and seamless. Yes there is always the encouragement to have additional protection (car write off and paintwork treatment) but that is part of their job and you have the choice - yes or no. They seem to have a good range of choice and at reasonable prices compared to the market. It seems lots of critics are always looking for a better deal - if you want to haggle go elsewhere; the cars generally 1 year or so old are massively cheaper than the as new price. Why anyone buys a new car I don't know - when you look how much you lose in the 1st year - but then that is their choice - or is it vanity???

When it comes to nearly new cars, there's two companies I head for: MotorPoint and AvailableCar. MotorPoint have a good range of cars, which you're fairly free to wander about and look at. I say fairly free, as unlike other car supermarkets, you need to approach a sales person to get the keys and have a look. So, why only three stars? Well - and this is obviously personal preference - I'd rather have a look at the cars uninterupted. I'm not a fan of having to make a note of the details, go and find someone, then have to politely deflect the sales persons' 'interest' in my needs. Secondly, this review is based on a visit when my wife wanted a car. I politely pointed out to the sales person that my wife was looking to buy, and he should listen to her. He then carried on talking to me! We didn't buy one here after feeling pressured into a sale. Given the above experience, I wouldn't rule out MotorPoint, but I would also suggest you take a look at AvailableCar in Castle Donnington and/or Sutton in Ashfield.
