Had a very good buying experience from initially viewing the car through to picking it up. Bought a BMW 5 series GT, although it was one of the cheapest vehicles there, I was still made to feel my custom was valued and respected. Rob was in constant contact with updates on the few bits of work being done on the car at my request and when it would be ready for pick up. Thanks to all the team from the photo guy who takes brilliant pictures, the valet team who prepared my car to an amazing standard, and Rob who was great all the way through. Martin Webb.

Buying one of my dream cars from Portland Autos was a great experience. I dealt primarily with Rob and James. Having made a long journey to the dealership, I was welcomed in a great manner by Rob and while looking at the car, I didn’t feel pressured at all. Very relaxed experience. The dealership is in a fantastic location and looks amazing I must add. Portland Autos were very accommodating to my requirements as I was not ready to purchase the car right away and held the car for me for circa 2 months on trickle charger etc. During this time, various work was done on the car to have it in a great condition for my collection day. When it came to collection day, it couldn’t have gone smoother - a nice, fast and slick process and before I knew it, I was driving away in my new car with a massive smile on my face. Post sales service from Rob and James was great as well, the car had some issues with tyre pressure as soon as I drove away and this persisted for a few weeks after collection day. This was due to a tyre repair not being done correctly - when this was done was unknown to both Portland Autos and myself. However, Rob and James approached this professionally; we were able to come to an agreement that worked for us both whereby Portland Autos paid for half of the bill for a new tyre. I’d certainly buy a car again from Portland Autos.

Traded in my Audi Q7. Rob looked at the car for barely one minute. He didn’t kick the tyres, he didn’t tut and say we’ll need to knock some money off for that. I’ve bought several cars over the years, but the recent purchase I made from Portland Autos was probably the easiest, most seamless experience I’ve ever had! Initially spotted the car on Autotrader, I then had a look on their website. It was presented beautifully with so many high quality pictures. Agreed to put down a deposit to secure it, and 24 hours later I was at Doncaster train station being collected by their driver. Brilliant dealership . Literally bought my dream car- a Porsche Panamera in an incredible spec from them. My experience of Portland Autos was different to most people who have left a review here......I sold my car to them! We met online, a risky business if we believe everything you read, but no problems here. I was put in touch with James at Portland by a reputable online car brokerage service, James put in a bid for my car and I accepted via the broker, no further bartering took place, the deal was clean simple and honest form both parties. I did my utmost to describe and photograph the vehicle honestly meaning James was in a position of finding exactly what he expected when his driver called to collect the vehicle. Payment was a little more complicated as I had outstanding finance with negative equity on the vehicle, James worked with me to find a mutually effective solution to get this settled in a way that suited us both. Of course some trust came into play, but with the professional website in situ I felt I had the upper hand with the trust stakes, James had nothing to base his trust in me on, I was just a random stranger he’d met online in reality. A few phone calls and text messages later, I felt we’d both got a good feel for each other and how the deal would go. All in all, I’ve sold my vehicle for a fair price and James is in a position to move it on, sure, I could have got a little more selling it privately, but if you’re reading this, you’ll also know you could buy a vehicle for little less if you buy privately....it’s a trust thing, we trust businesses more than private individuals. IMHO Portland is trustworthy and good to do business with. For those cynics amongst us, I have zero reason to leave this review, other than I feel I’ve come across a decent and honest trader and think they deserve a little recognition for this.

Are all the great reviews true? In my experience yes. I bought a nearly new BMW from James and the experience from start to finish was excellent. I recently bought my dream car from Portland of Bawtry, a Porsche 911 Carrera S, my wife and I drove down from Stirling in Scotland, we were blown away with the country setting of the garage and the obvious selection of beautifully prepared vehicles for sale. On arrival we were truly welcomed, firstly with Bella the dog and then by Adam who conducted all our business. We were shown the car which had been put indoors in case of rain and then left on our own to thoroughly look over the car. Adam then gave me the keys and told me to take it for a test drive on my own (very trusting). I then decided that this was a lovely example and was the one for me.
