Genuinely had a very positive experience dealing with Fred and the owner Peter from Howard Johnston Cars. I flew out from London to collect a car and they prepared everything in prior time, the tax and all I needed to do was turn up, check and collect the vehicle and everything turned out perfect. Highly recommend the business for any vehicle purchase with Fred or Peter the owner.

Have no hesitation in buying a car from Peter, I’ve bought many cars from various garages over the years and without doubt the experience of buying from him is the best. From viewing, to test drive to the actual sale and then the after sale treatment it could not be faulted, no pressure with anything and goes that extra mile to provide customer satisfaction. Bought a Mini Clubman for my daughter, Purchase experience was first class. Unfortunately car developed a fault after a couple of months, called Peter and he arranged for the car to be fixed under its warranty. Unfortunately cars do break, Peters response to the problem was first class, no quibble, debate, just got the car into his garage and got the car fixed for her. For me that’s the mark of an honest, trustworthy car dealer.

1st class service and a pleasure doing business with them, this was the 2nd time I have bought a car though Howard-Johnston Cars and would buy from them again. A few weeks before I went to Howard- Johnson Cars I had a horrendous experience with Evans Halshaw which thankfully fell through and lead me to try somewhere else. I have just recently bought my second car from Peter Howard Johnston , after the positive experience of buying the first car there , I had no hesitation in contacting them , and requesting that they source a new car for me . Within a few short weeks Peter located the exact vehicle that I wanted , I had been very specific in my requirements with regard to specification , colour , fuel type , age and mileage and to make it even more difficult it had , to have been a ONE owner vehicle . I would highly recommend Howard Johnston Cars. After much searching and being apprehensive about the prospect of heading into a dealership, I decided to go to this smaller fabulous outfit. I felt comfortable from the outset, had a pre-arranged appointment, no hard sales pitch, could look at as many cars as I wished and nothing was too much effort. After deciding on the car I wanted, the rest is history. A smooth transaction, the car was immaculate and ready on time. No hitches, a friendly, welcoming bunch of chaps even to the point of welcoming my labrador into the premises and giving him a shot in the boot of the car to make sure he was going to like it too prior to purchase. I found Peter, Michael and David to be very easy to deal with and honest. We needed a car for 6 months, and they agreed to sell it again for us at the end of this time. It was all very easy. When a minor problem arose with the car, they helped with repairs even though it was out of warranty. Will certainly use them again for my next stint in Scotland. Special thanks to Michael, who I met for the first time at the dealership. I mentioned that my young son loved football and he said he'd take us to a game some time. I thought nothing of it until the phone rang a few months later and it was Michael offering tickets for a Hibs match. We went along and had a ball, even meeting some past Hibs legends that Michael is friends with.

I don't often write reviews but simply had to on this occasion. My husband and I went here to look at a small second car for me. From the moment I called to enquire, this company has been excellent. Their customer service approach is second to none. Nothing is too much bother for them. We dealt directly with Peter who is a wonderful character and so helpful. I really don't like car garages either used or new, I always feel pestered and bothered in them. Not here you will even get offered a tea or coffee should you wish. I looked at my car on the Friday and it had been put through its first MOT and given a service and was ready for me to collect on the Monday. The car was advertised as having reverse parking sensors but on viewing the car it didn't. Without hesitation Peter said not a problem we will have them fitted for you! I even got a courtesy call from Peter the following day to ask how I was getting on with the car. I only drive automatics and Howard Johnston Ltd specialise in them, so without doubt when I am looking to change my car again I will go here. I would also like to point out this car purchase was for a second car and it was at the lower end of the price range of cars available to buy here, that did not however have any impact on the way we were treated. We were dealt with the same way with as much enthusiasm and help than if we were buying the Bentley they had in stock. I purchased a Fiat Panda from here yesterday, after talking with David and having a test drive last weekend. This dealership is very unlike many others, because there is never a hard sell, they are very informative, and their priority is customer satisfaction. Peter had even arranged some minor work on the car before handing it over to me, because I believe it he wouldn't hand over keys to a car with a known fault. I would definitely return to purchase another car in the future.

I have just bought a car from Howard-Johnson cars and have to say how excellent a service it was. From initially contacting them through an advert on Autotrader I was immediately comfortable speaking with Peter about purchasing a VW Golf tsi without travelling to Edinburgh to see it . I knew the Car, spec , mileage and price I was after and having tried and failed to purchase one from VW Lookers (due to poor customer service ) I saw the Howard Johnson advert and was throughly impressed with their help. Having agreed a price for the car ( which was nearly a thousand pounds cheaper than at Lookers) Peter arranged to have the car brought to me, 300miles away, and it was exactly as I had hoped. He kept me in touch daily to update me with the sale and I have to say how happy I am that it ran so smoothly. I highly recommend them. Excellent.

Unheard of Customer Service. My mother recently bought a car from this garage and the feedback i have is almost unreal. It seems that nothing was too much of an ask, they were genuine and professional people to deal with. Also by the sounds of it the after care so far has been exceptional. They even tuned in the radio to her favourite stations and said she will never need to pump up her own tires. Why isn't every car buying experience like this??? I commend you!

We bought a Vauxhall astra there a year ago. No problem at all with it, it works perfectly and we didn't have any mechanical problems. They are really professionals and helpful.

After searching the web for a nearly new car i found howard johnston offering what i was looking for a good price after searching for months after contacting one of the team i received a full video of the car which looked ok after agreeing a price for my car in px we decided to go ahead we travelled from London to Scotland 408 miles each way the car was better than described i was very happy with the service i received from them it was second to none so if you are thinking of going there to buy a vehicle dont be put of but distance they are professional in what they do i would not hesitate to use them again thanks again guys
