Having spent a few year driving the latest supercars I was very much looking for a an older TVR convertible to get back to basics. Ed was very accommodating spending lots of time, multiple test drives and leaving me alone for at least an hour to consolidate my thoughts and decide what I wanted to do. No pushy sales just good honest advice and a decent cup of tea. I subsequently bought and then 3 years later also sold my car via Shmoo. All a very painless process, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ed.

I still remember the first time I saw a TVR T350 on the road, it left an impression like few other cars do. Over the years I have had Caterham Seven’s, Porsche and other TVR’s but the T350 was the one that got away! I found myself scanning the classifieds and spotted a stunning spectraflair T350c that Ed had coming into stock. I called Ed and straight from the start I had a good feeling – it was just like having a chat with someone that shares the same passion and hobbies as you do. Ed provided me with all the information I’d asked for and more besides with videos and photos of the outside, inside and underneath of the car. Ed also gave a fair appraisal pointing out any negatives on the car and he pulled together a list of work that we agreed would be done as part of the preparation prior to sale. Ed also put me in contact with the mechanic who had looked after the car for all its life with its two previous owners for a chat about its history and condition. When it comes to buying cars, I am particularly fussy about condition, but I really was put at ease based on my initial conversations with Ed and had no hesitation when it came to putting down a deposit. I am so glad I did. Ed’s honest and helpful approach continued when it was time to view and go for a test drive and the T350 was stunning – just like the picture I had built up from all the information Ed had provided in advance. On collection day the T350 was presented beautifully, all the preparation work had been done to a high standard and the spectraflair paint looked stunning in the sun. Ed spent most of the morning giving me an extensive handover and talked me through the history of the car again and went through all the quirks of TVRs in advance of a faultless drive home. Just in time for the summer! All in all, I would highly recommend Ed whether you are looking to source a car or sell one on. Ed made the purchase enjoyable. He is a pleasure to deal with and stocks some seriously nice cars!

Highly recommend Edd at shmoo automotive he is very helpful, friendly and honest. Recently bought a harley davidson from him, it is in immaculate condition like all his vehicles, and exactly what we wanted for the right price. Would highly recommend Ed and the Shmoo team! Fantasticly pleasant chap, open, honest and a good sense of humour, exactly what you're after when purchasing a classic from the trade. Recently bought a beautiful Rolls Royce Silver Shadow 1 in excellent condition from him. What really impressed me was the number of detailed photos of outside, inside, under the bonnet and the restoration work that were available on his website. Especially handy in the COVID times we live in! I also appreciated his honesty highlighting things that he would fix if he were to own the car, rather than hoping you didn't notice them. My quest to return to TVR ownership began with two years of trying to find a car that I started to believe did not exist. Whilst trawling the ads it appears everything that fitted my criteria even the colour. The dealer Schmoo Automotive who are they, is the information correct? I arrange a journey with some scepticism. On arrival I immediately commit the deadly sin of showing to much interest oh and of course there is this bloke called Ed rabbiting in my ear I think confirming the car is as good as I thought. It was now time to sit down and have a cup of tea with Ed and look at the paperwork and talk about a px. After about an hour I realised that whilst Ed talked a lot he really did know his stuff. I decided to go away and sell my car myself whilst keeping in touch with Ed about the TVR, but Ed was now going to Europe on a motorcycle holiday, but true to his word any questions I had he would return my call each evening. On his return from holiday it was agreed he would px my car and the deal was done. There was then a period of very wet weather and it took about three weeks to swop the cars during which time there was no pressure from Ed. Now four years later the car was everything he said and probably better. Yes it has taken me four years to write my review but that is probably because when he sold my px he described me as a non typical sixty year old Evo driver ha ha! Since Ed sold me the car he has always been happy to answer any questions or help where possible.

It was early 2021 when the combination of working remotely in a confused COVID world and seeing some hefty bills on the horizon for my ageing Boxster SE poked me in the ribs to make some changes - one of which was to buy a new motor - something a bit different perhaps! I’d previously toyed with the idea of a BMW i8 but passed it by for various reasons. However, I decided to do some more research into this ‘marmite’ car - is it a sports car, supercar, neither or something in between? I’ll leave that for others to decide but, thanks to Shmoo, for me it still brings a smile to my face each time I slide through those dihedral doors to take her for a spin - whether that be with the electric-blue purr or the throaty-orange sport option! Like most of us, I’ve had my share of good, bad and indifferent car-buying experiences over the years. However, none of the above with Shmoo who provided an ‘exceptional service’. From my first contact with the charismatic Ed in early 2021 right through to today, I’ve got to say the experience has been second to none. There weren’t many i8 Roadsters available but I soon realised that this was a ‘special’ car that deserved careful consideration and therefore it was imperative to completely trust the dealer. Ed is so much more than a ‘salesman’ - he’s honest, transparent, informed, enthusiastic and goes the extra mile (literally) to provide a top-rate personal customer service. I soon realised that the quality of Shmoo’s specialist vehicles was matched by a quality service - driven by a quality bloke in Ed. On the 4th April 2021, following many weeks of emails and phone calls (I did say I was fussy), my stunning 2019 plate i8 Roadster was delivered to me in Bristol, in perfect order. And the icing on the cake - a personal handover by the man himself (Ed) - a fantastic surprise. For me, Ed provided exactly what I wanted in my i8 Roadster - high spec, near perfect condition, ver low mileage and a FSH. I’m fussy and attention to detail is very important to me - but this didn’t phase Shmoo, with Ed happy to provide advice and guidance not only on the i8, e.g. detailing tips, but also with regards to the sale of my Boxster and even providing advice and guidance on the subsequent purchase of an Mercedes A200 AMG for my daughter. To conclude, I fully endorse and recommend Ed at Shmoo Automotive as, in my experience, the market lead in independent specialist cars. Talk to Ed - you will not be disappointed. I was looking for a TVR Tuscan 4.0 and one that was for sale in the Midlands. Found Shmoo website and contacted Ed. Ed forwarded a video of the car and based on this I felt it was worth checking out and an appointment made. Me and my partner Lou was warmly greeted by Ed, who proceeded to show us the Tuscan, pointing out areas he felt could be improved upon if I wished. However, it was a cracker of a car, one that exceeded my expectations. Ed sources good cars and he clearly has a passion for what he does and also for the TVR marque. At no point did me and my partner felt pressurised or rushed. Ed showed me the different aspects of the car, the controls and it was with no hesitation, showing me under the bonnet. He wrote a ‘what’s what’ list of owning a Tuscan such as the warming up procedure, taking the roof off, TVR quirks etc. which I thought was nice of him. Ed really put in the effort to giving me a well-polished and valeted car, one that had the chassis coated with ‘Lanoguard’ which is a nice touch. I would definitely recommend Ed, he made buying the car a pleasure including the mundane aspects (enquiries, financial and paperwork) and is someone who I would return to.

I’m Italian and I live in Italy, but I love British cars. Some years ago I was looking for a TVR Tuscan and, after some month of search, I have found the right car at shmooautomotive. When I collected the car it was better than in the pictures!!! And then immediately I drive the car from Leicestershire to Turin on the road for two days – with my new TVR. It was a great day for me. After my first TVR I have bought from Ed a Golf GTI Dsg, than a BMW M3 convertible and then another TVR, a Griffith 500. I have bought all this car without seeing it before… only in beautiful HD pictures on Ed’s web site. And only because I trust in Ed, in his expertise and sincerity. I don’t generally like car dealers. (Neither does Ed!) Ed isn’t a dealer, Ed is an enthusiastic like me… Sometimes I ask myself if he does this job to have a profit or only because he has an enormous love for every kind of cars…. After some year and some cars, me and Ed are very good friends!! We have also spent some beautiful holidays together, speaking about sports and classic cars, in front a glass of good wine and a spaghetti dish. If your looking for a TVR then this is the place. I owned a T350 back in 2007, and sold it in 2009 (biggest mistake), I then had a big gap from TVR ownership until 2017 when I purchased a Griffith SE. Since then I have had the total TVR bug and realised I had been missing the essential ingredient of what makes you feel special in these cars that others just can't achieve, the sound - smell - and sheer thrill of zero driver aids. So I sold my Carrera GTS and went on a hunt for the perfect Sagaris. I had spent months looking at the classifieds and also went to see the odd one to gauge how these cars have been looked after with various mileage etc. To my dismay I was shocked of the condition of some of these cars for sale privately and in other TVR dealerships just due to and lack to general servicing some of these cars have had over the years considering the type of cars these are. Due to this I decided I wanted to find a car that was off the radar, one that was in a great home but if the correct money was offered the owner would part with his pride and joy. To do this I was recommend by Andy @ 'TVR Power' to contact Ed @ Shmoo Automotive due to his approach to his cars and how he treats his customers. I spoke to ED about all my requirements and what I’m looking for and I’m surprised he took up the challenge as I am very hard to please. Over the next few months we visited a number of cars some that we had great hopes for but when we got there, ED said this is not the right car for you Tom….so we walked away and continued our search. After ED finding the correct vehicle he then took over all the prep that was required to bring it up to his highest level before he would let me have it. I know that if i had purchased a car from the other well known TVR outlets that i would not have ended up with a car as good as this. Ed is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about TVR's, and is only interested in retailing the finest examples for his customers with the highest prep which is a must for these cars. He tells me he turns a lot of cars away as they don’t meet his criteria and what he is about, so that says a lot…. I have also recommend Ed to one of my good friends and they have also purchased a 5L TVR chimaera from him which as you would expect the condition and prep was perfect.
