There are a wide variety of cars here which are available for viewing and I found that they are competitively priced (although this does limit haggling opportunity!). Simon is relaxed and welcoming, professional and not too pushy. Once I had picked a car he was very informative about the aftercare options Evans Halshaw offer and described them in a way anyone could understand.when I came to pick up the car he took the time and made sure I knew how different parts of the car worked which you may not test during a test drive (detailed multimedia use, fuel filler cap location, any extras on the car etc.). Would happily go again when I am picking my next car

A great experience yesterday selling my car to Evans Halshaw. Having already purchased a new vehicle, we didn't want the stress and hassle of selling my car privately, so decided to sell it through a company. Evans Halshaw gave us the best valuation for my car and after taking the car to Simon yesterday, the process was nice and straightforward. We were made to feel very welcome and sat in the customer waiting room with a coffee for half an hour while the car was inspected. After a short wait, we were offered a fair price not too off the initial online valuation and the money was in my account two hours later! Nice easy process from start to finish. The car was worth the wait. We arranged to see the car one Sunday and after driving one hour of the two hour journey time we got a call to say that the car wasn't on site so we had to turn around and head home. We rearranged to see the car the following Saturday. We were looked after by Lewis who was professional, helpful and smartly dressed. He took us for a drive and took details of our part exchange. This was valued by head office. The value was disappointing so we decided against the car. However, that evening we decided that the deal as a whole was worth doing and went back on Sunday to finalise the deal and collect the car. Again we we looked after by Lewis who was faultless and also by a transaction manager, sorry I forget his name, who went through various insurance products and finance options. Again in all instances it was a professional presentation. Lewis was as good as his word by arranging to get a spare key cut and put a fiver worth of fuel in it as it was at the bottom of the red. The only downside was that the car was a little grubby inside but we took the car then and there and didn't give them a lot of time to do the valet. Overall a good experience.

From the get-go I found them to be so professional and reassuring on the phone and when I visited the branch. I was impressed by the 'extra mile' they have gone to, offering me solutions to my predicament. We discussed alternatives and they gave me the benefit of their honest and professional expert opinion (with a good helping of Janner humour thrown in to put me at my ease!) At no point did I feel under pressure, or incredibly stupid for buying a vehicle I didn't feel comfortable with and instead they suggested I go away and do some research. I followed their advice and called Matt with a short list of vehicles. Again, the team surpassed my expectations and were able to advise me as to the best of my short list. The car I chose was duly brought to the branch and last weekend a deal was done! My car (which to be fair is a very nice vehicle) was taken off my hands and in its place I am now the proud owner of a car which suits me and my requirements perfectly. In the past I have always dreaded when the time has come to renew one of our cars due to the certainty of coming up against pushy and Ill informed salesmen. This is the first review I have ever written regarding buying a car but felt it very necessary to share my to date unique positive experience. Upon entering your well stocked showroom/warehouse we were greeted by Ian Forster who introduced himself and spent a couple of moments explaining the background of the company and their price promise guarantee then left us alone to browse at our leisure but was on hand to answer any questions we had regarding specific vehicles. After spending a good while looking around and comparing prices to others online we chose a particular car to test drive and asked Ian if we could arrange a time with him to do this as they were just about to close up. He offered to take us out there and then to save us a trip back from our home in Cornwall 45 mins away! The next day after sleeping on it and researching other similar cars in the area it was a clear winner so we called Ian to leave a deposit and arrange payment and collection. From start to finish it was hassle free and Ian worked to our limited timescale making sure the car had been valeted and ready to take away the very next day. We popped back in and met with Ian Forster again and he had all the paperwork prepared for us to sign and the car was ready to drive away. This rating is purely based on the service of Ian who was great, handled my purchase very efficiently and with good humour, minor issues with car were sorted quickly. The car itself was well priced, low mileage, well presented and all documentation and history was easily available. Naturally I wait to see if there is anything further to say about the car once it’s been driven for some time. The only odd thing was when I went to pick up the vehicle there was a sales pitch for additional warranties etc.....obviously you expect this to happen so not an issue. What was strange was the need for a 2nd sales person so sit with us, without any real introduction and no obvious purpose other than to try and ask a few leading questions to get me to buy the products. Really not an approach I respond well to and immediately puts my hackles up.....I could see how this would feel quite intimidating for some people. So worth the sales team thinking about how this comes across!

I can't believe how hard it is to buy a car from this dealer. They have a good selection but the service is shocking and the default response of everyone I dealt with was to blame another person. The experience started when we booked and appointment to view a car, travelled 35 miles to find it wasn't even there. This was followed by a succession of no call backs, failed appointments, misinformation etc. We persevered because they had the vehicle we wanted but it felt like we had to try incredibly hard to buy it from them. He showed me around the car giving me information about the vehicle. He then drove the car out for me to have a test drive with him. We went over to the desk and Ashley went through all the options, such as different insurances for warrantee, safeguarding the original price etc, that were available along with the sale of the car. Lots of 5 star ratings on here but I found the whole buying process extremely lengthy and laborious and not altogether pleasant. Tony was very helpful and friendly to be fair. The car also pretty much 'ticked all the boxes' as I hadn't seen another that matched my requirements. I was also sent a video 'walk around' of the car after I booked a viewing which I thought was great, however don't expect anyone to 'sweeten the deal', they won't even offer you a penny discount. You're handing over thousands of pounds for a vehicle which I truly believe has been hiked in price to maximise profit, the 'optional extras' bump up the price by over a grand too (if you want them) and these offers are unknown until you're ready to strike a deal, then they suddenly materialise so the price of the car can now potentially be beyond your budget. I completely understand overheads are a factor and losses can be made and maybe I'm cynical but no one can convince me that car dealers do not make a profit. The first guy I saw a few days ago did a valuation for my part exchange vehicle and it transpired that the figure he quoted wasn't acceptable even though he had checked the vehicle and gave me a quote, these guys wouldn't even honour the £94 difference from his assessment and I was further out of pocket. Fighting tooth and nail to get a good deal is fruitless, you couldn't even negotiate a tank of fuel to help you drive home in your new car!

My other half bought a Nissan Qashqai a couple months ago, ever since we bought it the sat nav didn't have any audio. We went to Evans Halshaw Car Supermarket in Plymouth to look at purchasing a car we had seen on their website. It was a Saturday morning, horrendous rain and VERY busy - we also decided It was a good idea to bring our very active 3 year old (so silly I hear you say!!) We were told that there could be a long wait to be seen but someone would be with us as soon as a salesman was available. We didn't have to wait long - we were spoken to by Ashley. He was very informative, helpful and explained everything we needed - a fab salesman! By this point our little boy was becoming restless (as any 3 year would!) Ashley was amazing - out of his drawer he pulled out a "cars" colouring book, crayons and highlighter pens (little boy was ecstatic as he loves Lightening McQueen and was allowed to use pens, with a massive smile as he doesn't use these at home). This kept him occupied for a while longer while Ashley and my husband went out to see how the car was - along with a complimentary drink (and crisps/choc from the machine - this was a last resort as it was now lunchtime!!) We had a very good experience while visiting Evans Halshaw, had a fantastic salesman (Ashley) to help us and we would recommend this company to anyone looking for a car.

So as far as customer service goes - it was 5 star. HOWEVER - I only got one key which I wasn’t told about now this is going to cost me in the way of £100 to get a spare one. Also it was meant to have had Gardx on the inside - the leather seats are marked and are dirty. So if it was valeted and had Gardx put on it - the person who did it needs to pay more attention as not very happy about this.

The sales people were not too pushy but helpful. I have had the car 4 weeks and phoned to say I had a couple of things with it I wanted looking at and they were willing to look at the car the next day. I actually had to take it to Saltash as that was where the service and MOT were done and the Service Manager from Plympton picked me up in Saltash and took me into Plymouth in time for work and then picked me up to take me back to Saltash to collect my car. I found the whole experience of buying the car nice and straightforward and the issues I had were fixed quickly and with no hassle.
