We bought our first caravan from Tamar Caravan Centre 3 years ago. Our first experience was so positive, we went back to browse, and, for the last few weeks, have been in the process of part exchanging it for a larger van. Dealing with Dorian throughout, we have ‘upgraded’ to the perfect caravan for us. We greatly appreciated the advice offered, the patience shown, and were given an extremely thorough handover last Friday. We have just returned from a very enjoyable short break away in our new caravan and can say we are very pleased with the Mayflower 580, which ticks all the right boxes. Went in to buy a leisure battery for our motorhome. Got the battery but they couldn't fit it as they couldn't get the old one out..they said. Which is a bit weird as they had the workshop, the mechanics and the tools..so we left with the battery but nothing to fit it with and £125 out of pocket. Don't know ...maybe it was tea break time or something????

Typically, the caravan manufacturers took weeks to supply the parts, but when they eventually arrived Tamar pulled out all the stops to get the repair done in time for the ferry we had booked. Tamar Caravan Centre has to be one of the best caravan dealers in the south west. The staff are very very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly about both the caravans and camper-vans, their maintenance and their accessories. The main showroom has a good range of the caravan and campervan models they sell (Mostly Swift Caravans and VW camper-vans when writing this). The accessories shop has everything you would normally want and need, from awnings, chairs, etc. to Washers and seals for various things. In terms of awnings and Camping furniture they stock Isabella and Kampa. They stock a range of other brands of other accessories for example thule roof racks, boxes etc. The service department have been really helpful and are very knowledgeable on how to fix and sort any issues you might have. Finally they also rent camper-vans and sell second hand caravans but there is less of a range than some dealer but all in all still probably one if not the best caravan and campervan dealers in the south west.

I used these guys to have a towbar fitted and supply a Thule bike carrier. I received excellent service and good advice as well as given a thorough demonstration when I collected the car the next day. The use of their courtesy car was also an added bonus. After using Tamar Trailer Centre for mobile servicing in the past, recommended to others and had a tow bar fitted by them it seems they no longer do any mobile services. After phoning them to arrange a mobile visit I was told they are now a dealership moved to bigger and better premises ( which I already knew) and they don't do the mobile side anymore. Perhaps the old customers have been forgotten! What a shame! Will look elsewhere

Although in the end it was fairly basic to operate the technician went out of his way on two occasions to show me how to operate the mechanism. We are experienced tourer's and have previously purchased multiple vans from Highbridge in Somerset. Purchasing from a big dealership gives you plenty of choice, but lacks the personal touch particularly in after sales. We wanted to find somewhere more local and smaller. So what an absolute pleasure to deal with TTC , a small, but perfectly formed Swift dealership. It has a very welcoming family feel and nothing was too much trouble. The staff are very knowledgeable about their products even down to the smallest detail. Ian Mc Nulty took us through our handover with our new Swift van with care and attention to detail.
