Have my car’s engine software updated today and my service advisor Mr. Matthew Edwards greeted me near the reception so that I didn’t have to wait for a second, highly appreciated. Mr. Edwards did offer me a great help by returning my car to me within the same day and explained the procedures in detail and even sent me a video regarding the service of my car by both email and SMS. Have my car cleaned inside and outside with attention to details. I am highly satisfied with his friendly and professional service, I definitely will come back for future service and purchase. Before arriving I had a good exchange on email with Matthew Edwards and that ‘good exchange’ continued with the appointment where a decent coffee was followed by my car on a ramp for a quick inspection. Matthew had a healthy dose of attention to detail going around my car, and we quickly decided what needed to be done that day. There was no pressure to get all work done and pragmatism ruled the day. Having bought the car from Robin Walton at the dealership, it was natural to come back to them for the first service. I was looked after by Matthew Edwards, who was just as helpful and friendly as Robin had been . Wwhen dealing with service department staff I always hope for someone who can talk me though what is going on in simple terms and can explain the results of any action – both of which were achieved by Matthew! A visual safety check was carried out as part of the service which was appreciated. The only (minor) failing was that my surprisingly dirty car wasn’t cleaned – Matthew offered to have this done for free the next time I was in the area (which isn’t often as I live 30 miles away!)

Porsche Centre Reading just carried out a major service on my 16 year old 997 Carrera S. It was pricey, but worth it when you consider the level of care that goes into the work. Having been disappointed with independents in the past, I decided to go with the OPC this time around and the service was second to none. Matthew Edwards made plenty of time for me and answered any queries I had. The underbody health check and traffic light system mean everything is transparent, and there is no hard sale on items or work that are not essential. The car came back in good condition, which cannot be said half of the time I've had it checked by independent garages. Would use again and happily recommend, whether your Porsche is new or old.

Having used Porsche Reading for the first time, I wasn't sure what to expect. However I am very happy to have had dealings with Adam Lewis. He was exceptionally professional, especially in his explanation of the works that needed to be carried out. I was kept updated throughout the process and therefore felt at ease. I needed a damper for my 968 Tiptronic (a £1200 part). I called my local OPC (part of the Sytner Group) and they told me the part was not in stock and on back-order. They said it could take weeks, months or even years for the part to be available even if I placed the order. I asked if they could make a call to get a more definitive timeline but they wouldn’t do that! So I called OPC Reading last weekend and spoke to Jon Cox. His approach was very different and a lot more helpful. I placed the order. This morning he called me to tell me the part was in stock - just a week after I had placed the order! I asked for the part to be sent to Northway Porsche as they would fit the part and Jon said that he would deliver the part in his lunch hour if there was no planned van delivery to Northway over the next few days. Please thank Jon Cox for going the extra mile - literally. Sytner have a lot to learn and have lost a £1200 sale.

I was trying to get the OPCs near me to help but OPC Reading, which is an hour away from me, was by far the most helpful. I recently purchased my first Porsche and discovered it's not just about the car! From my first visit to the show room in Reading I have been so well looked after. Polite reception staff who make you feel comfortable from the moment you step through the door. The sales team talking through my requirements, arranging test drives and then walking me through the purchase process. The communication that followed was great, keeping me up to date of build progress. Hand over day was very informative with Paul stepping me through the car functions and introducing me to the after sales team. 6 weeks later I booked a follow-on master class with Cameron who took time to step me through the functionality of the car once again (there is a lot of it to take in!). 20 years ago I would have given them 5 stars. I had a couple of elderly Porsches but I was still treated like a valued customer and the prices were not stupidly prohibitive for a young man on a budget. Roll on 20 years the place looks slick and the service is very polite with the main desk as your point of contact. It is impossible to pop in for a quick visit as you end up being kept waiting for ages before you see someone from the correct dept. This can be frustrating but you can make use of the complimentary coffee and cookies while you wait (and wait). Prices are simply astronomical now as you would expect. That young man with an old car from 20 years ago would simply be completely outpriced now. Independents are a fraction of the price often with better service and advice. My recent experiences have been decidedly average: a) Warranty claim on a 2 year old car. They had the car 3 weeks and simple couldn't recreate the fault so gave it back eventually and didn't really care and that's where things stayed. I still have a PDK that loses power for 3 or 4 seconds completely before cutting back in. Simply not good enough for a nearly new Porsche and definitely puts me off buying a new one if I have a major fault that I can't get fixed. b) I tried to buy a new/ex demo car (with cash) and simply wanted a px value for my old car so that I could make the deal. Possibly the easiest sale possible for the salesman. This seemed beyond them in spite of having my car in 3 times and at one time for about 3 weeks. They just didn't seem to make an effort. Finally they emailed me an approx amount but said they would need to see the car ....arrrrrgghhh. How hard is it to just walk in and buy a car? c) Trying to get price/availability on parts for a second older car I have always seems to require a call back that takes a day or two by which time I will have got them from an independent. An independent who, I assume, has just obtained them from the main dealer itself. I assume they simply don't want the business for older vehicles d) The car inspections are excessive and will pull up everything on the car that is part worn or not genuine Porsche and then try to charge you for it. For example I had a brand new Yuasa battery (£130) but as it is not Porsche branded it was flagged up for replacement with a cheaper and inferior Porsche battery (£90). I mention this particularly as even the mechanic that did the inspection commented that this was irrelevant but he had to flag it up. Out of a £7000 invoice from an inspection on an older vehicle (07) only one thing that was on the enormous list was really necessary. They also seem to have a reputation for completely missing genuine engine problems. Although it must be a nice little earner for them. This reads like a lot of complaints but they are really only just average. It is a major disappointment that this is not just any old dealer providing slack service but the main UK importer for Porsche. On more than one occasion I have owned more than one Porsche but for the reasons above I don't own any Porsches now

Staff are well trained in dealing with customers, place is clean, smart and wellcoming. Service options are as expected, expensive, no offer of a courtesy car which some of the other dealers offered. My car had a"sticky" valve in the exhaust, there suggested option was to replace, they did offer to squirt some wd40 on it. Still don't know if it fixed it as this was not mentioned at pickup. Will continue to go there as I need the service stamps but all other work will completed at an independent.

I had been to two Porsche centre's before. As a salesman myself I expected questions to be asked and as they were I couldn't help but feel my disappointment with the manner of the sales people involved.Whilst they were not rude all I can say is there was no connection between them and I. Maybe it was the fact that I was not in a present position to buy at the time and yet merely confirming a curiosity.Yet carrying on privately with my curiosityI saw a car online shamefully to say I just really liked. I rang up for to ask a question and was politely ushered through to a salesperson. I just wanted information and not a sales pitch no matter how subtle. I was put through to Karl Meyer. We discussed and he asked all the expected questions and yet his manner was different. He not only seemed to listen but also appreciate where I was in my journey of curiosity. We left the conversation with the offer of a test drive in the balance. The next morning on impulse I decided I would travel to Reading and accept. Karl appointed and we met. In some ways I was quite suprised how young he was yet he had the manner of a simple friendly proffessional man with an honest passion for the brand. He took much time to show me around, and introduce me to some of the staff and even showed me the workshop and some exquisite Porsches hardly seen on the road. Not only did I feel that I had learnt more about the brand but I also left with the feeling I had received an excellant service and dare I say it a lesson in salesmanship. Not pushy, snooty, stuffy or soft but accurately spot on. The test drive was quality, informative and dare I say it, fun. All my questions were answered honestly and with Karls subtle curteous passion. I left hoping he wouldn't get in trouble for spending so much time with me. It ended with me regrettably giving him back the keys of the Cayenne at Reading train station for me to return home. I started that journey with a curious caution and came home absolutely empowered. A far cry from my previous London engagements. If buying a car from a particular sales rep commissioned your level of appreciation for their service to you and you are looking for a very pleasurable service then I simply suggest you pass through a Karl Meyer. Whilst Reading may be half an hour by train at least from here on you know you will be in good handsI ticked all the above boxes of excellant without reservation. It feels good to have your expectations exceeded and even more suprising when it's done with a refreshing mature humility and understanding.Politely following up today he let me know I had left my driving license with him.Laughing to myself I thought "It was a pleasure to have forgotten it" You'll enjoy Porsche at Reading, I did and now I can't wait to have the reason I want to go back.
