5 Stars……….Purchase of a Range Rover Sport.
For years, I always wanted to own a Range Rover. I had driven a few models over the years and this only strengthened my resolve to own one these great vehicles one day.
My partner and I attended the Hendy Land Rover, Southampton showroom in mid’ February 2022. We were introduced to a sales executive, Mr Jack De Bray, who showed us different models and then arranged for a test drive at a later date. After deciding on the model & type, Jack arranged a test drive and the car was a joy to drive. No further deliberation was needed.
After signing on the dotted line, Jack, Kevin Freemantle and Ben (apologies I couldn’t remember his surname) provided a smooth transition of the sale.
I cannot say enough about the level of personal service provided by Jack, and all of the Hendy Range Rover staff, who I had the pleasure to meet.

Best Land Rover dealer in the uk. Jim has been absolutely brilliant dealing with the purchase of a new Land Rover, keeping us updated throughout the process which has been hit with the typical bottlenecks facing so many industries at the moment. The wait has been worth it with a great handover, hamper flowers and even a full tank of fuel. Special the thanks to sales manager Jeremy who stepped in when Jim was unavailable. First class.

UPDATE: To be fair, when I finally got the car booked in they were extremely pleasant and fixed the car free of charge, so have to up the rating a bit. I am just really concerned by the terrible layer 1 support and being captive if something major comes up, no courtesy cars etc and I am sure it would be a miserable experience.
Sales experience was great, but literally everything after has been so bad. Wish I had read the reviews and the copy-paste/bot replies with <insert name> for this dealership before I went with them because my experience mirrors the flurry of 1 star reviews. I've done about 100 miles in my velar, engine light has been on since Thursday 6 days ago, and after 5 (!) phonecalls to try to get it booked in, each of which was a 'what do you want' style call, 'we will look at it but might charge you', etc. After my 5th phonecall I was quoted 1 month to get it booked in if I needed another car, which HLR seem to be using as some sort of lever, absurd wait times so that they don't have to provide you with a courtesy car. Presumably they rely on you not taking them up on this, because nobody can drive for a month with a check engine light on, due to the warranty liability. Expensive car, not one apology from anyone, takes all the enjoyment out of owning a lovely car that I bought in good faith. Don't bother with any of the extras if you do buy one, Hendy won't come good on it, because even the most basic aftercare can't be provided.

I recently purchased a Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE from this dealership, and had the pleasure of dealing with Jack De Bray. The car itself is amazing, however I must stress how refreshing it was to deal Jack. He went above and beyond at all times, from the point of enquiry, up until now where he’s checked in with me to see how I’m getting on with my new purchase. I am a repeat customer of the JLR brand, and I must say that this experience was by far the best.
So if you are in the market for a Land Rover/Range Rover, Jack is your guy!

Impressive new showroom and workshops. Amazing Jaguar and Land Rover cars inside together with a customer friendly area with free drinks and snacks. Helpful and efficient staff but of course you're paying big prices. Went for parts which are expensive especially for my older Jaguar S-type R. Love the glass partition so you can see the workshop and the drive through service area.

I was a little disappointed that I had to phone up to chase parts after a week of hearing nothing, to be told they were always available on a next day delivery basis! I also had to almost beg for another bottle of water after an hour and a half of waiting for my repair to be carried out. The only plus was that my car was washed and vacuumed.

3 stars is kind, based on today I would only give 1 star. Called this morning in a panic as we are going on holiday on Saturday and need the car fixed, earliest date available for diagnostics is over 2 weeks away. Was told I would get a call back to try and bring forward the date, no call. When I called again I was rudely told to wait even though I had explained the urgency. Luckily for me Auto Assistance in Chandlers Ford came to my rescue and repaired at an extremely good value price today. Range Rover have just lost a very loyal customer.

Had an issue with my car and dropped it to Inchape Land Rover. I received a warm welcome from reception and was directed to one of the Ladies in the service team who immediately put the wheels in motion to having my car problem rectified. Shortly afterwards i had a call from Mr Sukh Takhar in the Service department making me aware of what the problem was and assuring me that he would be in touch ASAP. Sure enough true to his word he called me to tell me my car was all done and ready for collection. Its quite refreshing walking into a busy dealership and receiving a "More than Satisfactory" customer service, Thank you Mr Takhar your assistance was very much appreciated.

Everyone here was really friendly and very attentive without being too intrusive. Our only issue was planning the service as the dealership hadn’t registered our vehicle for free service (as agreed as part of finance agreement when purchased).

Once you get past the booking team the service from the team at Land Rover Southampton was excellent. From the welcome in the drive in lane, Gaby’s friendly and efficient booking in, the informative video describing the issue with my SVR and then the prompt repair it was hard to fault, I was kept informed throughout by Gaby. I’ve given a 5 star rating as I think that is fair for the staff on site but come on Inchcape - get the booking process a bit more “personal” (listen to what is important to the customer) and you’ll be head and shoulders above the local competition.

I'm extremely happy with the level of customer service I recieved when purchasing my Range Rover Sport. Jordan was awesome! She responded to my emails and telephone calls in a timely fashion and nothing was too much trouble. She picked me up from the local train station and showed me around my new vehicle. The whole process was very professional but also enjoyable. I would recommend Inchcape, Southampton to friends and colleagues.
The only small criticism I would have is that the vehicle could have been valeted a little better. The windscreen was dirty on the inside and the binnacle and infotainment screens looked like they had been cleaned with a dirty cloth. This is a small criticism as the rest of the vehicle was very clean and presentable.

Great service from the team that I dealt with. It was the first time that I had used Hunters after appalling service from Westover LR. It was easy to book the service, and I was contacted prior to the service to confirm all was OK. The guys undertook a detailed inspection of the car which was recorded and forwarded to me by text. The large service was undertaken without fault, and the car was returned to me perfectly clean. I was looked after for the couple of hours that I waited with coffee served regularly by the friendly service/reception team.
Will I be using them again?, without doubt, the service was faultless!

My car was brought in with a steering column fault. No-one contacted me to keep me informed on the cars diagnosis or solution ...I repeatedly had to call to get an update. The was brought in on the Monday but the car was not fixed until the Thurs. I was informed that the car would be ready by 1000hrs but the reality was 1145hrs. In fairness, when I dropped the car off they did say it was unlikely that anyone would be able to look at it the same day but was told someone would contact me on the Tue. It took until Thurs for someone to call and a few phone calls from me to get even that.

On both occasions the service guys didnt know what was to be done on my car. As a result my invoice was wrong, plus i had to sit around waiting for this to be corrected. Not a big issue, but one you should maybe address to ensure everyone knows what work should be done on customers cars.

Bought second hand range rover sport from non franchise dealer. Had two weeks then had small accident causing body damage. Took to Inchcape for Smart Body Repair. Extremely happy with repair, not visible which I was concerned about. Friendly staff. Only negative point, car not cleaned as promised and no health check done as BMW do on all cars.

From initial contact, through the test drive in October to collecting the vehicle some 2-3 weeks earlier than forecast, my wife and I enjoyed an outstanding level of service from Hunters and Stuart Mason in particular. Attention to detail was excellent, even going so far as to make our Golden Retriever Monty welcome when we took him to the dealership to try the Discovery Sport on for boot size! Dog bowl, biscuits and doggy welcome mat we're waiting when we arrived - impressed! Stuart spent hours with my wife and I during the test drive day and also in scoping the vehicle spec and during our collection just the other day. Stuart pulled out the stops to get the vehicle to us before Xmas and even exceeded our delivery expectation by pulling forward from estimated 30 Dec to actual 12 Dec - great job. We are all, Monty included, now enjoying our new vehicle thanks to Hunters and to Stuart - well done indeed. It will now take the next 6 months to get to know all the features of the vehicle - we are looking forward to that. Excellent service - outstanding performance.

They provided a great service in terms of the work they carried out. Being a dealership specialist their hourly rate was £100 more per hour than just a specialist. All in all I was happy with the work carried out they gave a guarantee which if needed I hope they fulfill.

UPDATE..... I have just this minute returned from Hunters and have to say my initial issues and problems have all been resolved. I met with Adam Wise and after a short discussion on what I was unhappy about he made a decision that both parties were happy with. Adam allowed me the use of a courtesy car whilst my car was being sorted. With this kind of after sales service I really have to upgrade my experience with Hunters to 5 Stars. I am now a very happy and satisfied customer.

Although the new location and building is very impressive. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. The whole experience is ruined by the complete overpricing by Jaguar Land Rover for what should be standard priced parts. Namely £450 to change the battery which is three years and seven months old. After working in materials handling for o over forty years involved all kinds of starter and traction batteries on fork lift trucks I find this a totally unacceptable pricing strategy. Which would make me consider the make of my next vehicle. However it has furnished me with a story to tell my customers! "well you think we are expensive try getting a battery fitted to a 3 1/2 year old Discovery Sport"!!!

Having been recommended to Hunters by friends who use them, I took delivery of my new Range Rover Sport this week from Phil Haygreen. What a pleasure to deal with Hunters.
From initial contact with Nick, demo car for the day and Land Rover forward thinking technologies explained and a good deal. I was tempted away from German competitor whom I had used for many years. Phil’s valued advice when selecting colour, trim and extras to make this car all things to me, workhorse, versatile, luxury travel with off road capabilities for my rural area.
Kept informed by Phil & Sales Manager ‘Kam’ during build and delivery process. Even a short video clip emailed on the morning of delivery giving a glimpse of the car. A really nice touch.
Handover a truly memorable experience. Member of staff parked our car as we arrived, Leila served coffee and delicious muffins and Phil did the most thorough handover I’ve ever experienced, no rushing and everything setup and explained.
Even the smart keys with Land Rover key rings presented in an attractive box.
The 135 mile round trip well worth it for this kind of service. Thanks to Kam, Phil, Nick, Leila and workshop/valet team.

This past week I took my 6 week old Range Rover Sport back to get a minor issue, with the infotainment system sorted. The fault partially my fault. Outstanding service from Service Department from booking the appointment to collection. Phone call the previous evening checking the appointment was still convenient and on schedule from Hunters side. Sukh on reception already knew about the problem from the technician and Phil who had taken a look at it when I was passing a couple of weeks previously. Loan car, all cleaned ready and waiting for me after being served coffee and muffin by the ever helpful reception/hospitality staff. Confirmation the following day, all sorted and Sukh arranged for himself and the technician to explain and demonstrate the solution. Not like some dealers giving you a number box to plonk on top of the car and no explanation of work on completion. My car had been valeted and it brought back memories of that first drive home. Overall, delighted in every respect, even the combined mpg figures are achievable and I have exceeded them at times. The Winter Hibernot event also demonstrated Hunters commitment to extending ownership for customers. Everyone just works as a team. A dealership for JLR to be proud of.

I really have to say how impressed I was with my overall experience of purchasing my new car from Inchcape. From my very first enquiry until the day of handover the staff were all fantastic. I have to mention Andy Porter who was a real pleasure to deal with and clearly understands and demonstrates quality customer relations.
The personalised video of the car my wife and I was looking at was a cracking touch, especially as we had to travel a fair distance.

Professional "as I would expect" service.
We bought our Freelander 2 from Hunters in March of this year and the purchase all went smoothly. However, when it came to the first service for our car - I have driven 12000 miles since then - I was a little put off by the three negative reviews on google and wondered whether things had gone down hill since then. Nevertheless, I thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt. I booked the car in for a service this past Monday morning and was given a service date of today (Thursday). I dropped off the car - five spare spaces I counted - and was met at reception by the same service that is normal at breakfast in hotels - by a person standing inside the door with the list of expected clients and the fluorescent pen to mark them off as they arrive. The coffee and tv area with free newspapers we are used to and that was fine. Somewhere to hang my coat and umbrella would be good because it was raining later in the afternoon when I came to collect the car.
I was kept waiting for only a few minutes by Steve Pratley. Steve listened to what I thought needed doing and amended the job sheet that had been developed based on my phone call on the Monday, which included work outside of the standard service. Steve indicated a finish time of five o'clock but I pressed for four o'clock. He amended the work sheet to 16:00 hours. After the customary phone calls that go back and forth to discuss minor points of work which were relevant to my MOT, I received a text message at 15:52 to say that my (washed and hoovered) car was ready for collection.
Do I have any complaints about the service I received today? None at all. My only complaint is that the Hunters Landrover business cards are so hard to read.

I arranged an interim service for my D4. The home pick up and collection service was much appreciated. As part of the vehicle service you did a check over the vehicle and reported thereon. Apart from some minor oil leaks from certain (intake) seals and (sump) gaskets you red flagged an advisory that the n/s rear tyre was at 2mm. The other 3 road tyres were all at 4.5-5mm. The spare was at 5mm. You did not offer to swap the spare over for the worn tyre loosing the 5th star and gaining the marginal 4th star. I swapped the tyres over myself at home on the drive. When I checked the pressure of the spare it was 22 PSI so clearly you did not check the tyre pressure and inflate it accordingly. When you collected the car I had previously cleaned the exterior. You also washed the car at Inchcape however you did not dry it properly so there were wash marks/smears. So there are a number of things you can do to improve the customer experience and achieve the highest rating.
