Great experience buying from Marshall Southampton, buying an expensive vehicle from a distance without viewing personally can be somewhat of a worry but the whole experience was made easy thanks to the great communication and service from Grace. Nothing was to much trouble and any queries were answered quickly. Finally met Grace in person when collecting my new Mercedes and her customer service was fantastic, and really surprised when i got a courtesy call 2 weeks after collection to make sure everything was ok and if i needed any help with anything. After a slight stumble initially I can not fault the customer service Darren and his after sales team at Marshalls provided to me. We were in a quandary as to what car to get in succession to a twelve year old R class that had done sterling service but had seen better days. There was no obvious successor that appealed to us. We effectively left the problem with Wade Turnbull at Marshall’s Southampton who went away, did research and proposed a car that precisely met our needs - A GLE Diesel Electric hybrid. Although the electric range is around 35 miles ( our experience against the quoted figures of 48 or so) it suits our everyday needs and has meant we still haven’t used much of the fuel put in the diesel tank at the end of March. We are happy with this and with both the pre and post sales support. We are satisfied customers - again.

I saw the car online, called up, spoke to Richard who asked some very simple straight forward questions.
I drove down to Southampton and saw the car, coffee, test drive and then negotiations. 25 mins later we agreed and the deposit was paid. 3 days later the car wad ready to be collected as promised.
Richard did not push me or rush me to buy the car, Richard encouraged me to think things through and reassured me that he could get the job done. What amazing service.
Richard really did a great job and personally ensured that my car was ready to the standard we agreed.
The process was so easy and hassle free. I will definitely be going back.

Boxing Day 2021
Mercedes GLC. This car has caused my family so much stress. Just got back from a family day out, round trip circ. 140 miles. The car has done 24, 200 miles and has been in the garage more times in one year than our family Hyundai Sante Fe did in the 12 years we had it. Emergency light showing, waiting in for Mercedes resecue. Looks like a 6th visit to the garge for this car. Not impressed and now coming to the conclusion that we must have been sold a faulty car.
Update Dec 21
Our Mercedes GLC has come back from its 5th visit to the garage. Thank you Marshalls for helping with this visit. However, on return we now have another problem with the automatic start /stop button, so have booked the car in for a 6th time in only 10 months of having it.
Driving a Mercedes is meant to be a pleasure, unfortunatley driving this one is not.
Really helpful staff at Marshalls. They provided yet another loan car for the time my vehicle was off the road. An expert mechanic examined the car and a replacement part has been fitted.
I have moved the review to 3 stars as the customer service has been very good, but too early to say whether the car is actually working properly. I will move the rating up even further once the car has not shown any faults in 3 /4 months' time. I still do not have confidence in the vehicle on long journeys and we dread the error message 'ad blue- car won't start in 497 miles'!
PS - Mercedes customer service absolutely a waste of time.
We puchased a car from Marshalls in February this year. The car is going into the gargae for the fourth time!. It seems they are doing everything to resolve the problem with ad blue tank, but every few months we get a messgae saying the car won't start after 497 miles. The chaps are being nice about the issue but at the end of the day I am the one with the faulty car!. I will keep updating the post and social media of the progress.

As we are soon to be in the local area, we decided to visit the Marshall Mercedes dealership in Southampton (at the Southampton Airport location).
We have recently acquired a C-Class estate and wanted to meet the Service Manager and become acquainted with our "local" Mercedes Service and Sales Centre. We had the good fortune to meet David Allen, the Service Manager, himself!
The fact that we weren't yet a customer seemed to have no bearing on the level of help, positive attitude and manner which David Allen brought to the conversation.
He went out of his way to address all our questions and enquiries; and he dealt professionally with specifics related to our vehicle. He also proferred very helpful advice and suggestions.
The overall atmosphere at Marshall's is superb and the Receptionist was friendly, helpful and charming.
The service and care which Marshall's exude has made us re-evaluate our attitude regarding our next car. Better to have a professional, caring, main dealership behind you where one has the confidence that there is no hidden agenda and their vehicles and aftercare are what they say.
Their coffee is excellent, as well!!!

After receiving excellent follow-up to my enquiry at Marshall of Southampton I purchased a new Mercedes in August. The car was the first of a brand new model and despite a great purchase and handover experience, unfortunately there were a few minor issues that surfaced during the first few weeks - all factory related. At all times, Marhsall's sales and after care team were responsive and diligent. They took ownership of the problems, drove for speedy resolution and kept me informed with regular status updates. They kept downtime to a minimum and made sure I had a suitable alternative car whilst mine was being fixed. Whilst it would have been nice to have no problems at all, it's important to know that you will be properly taken care of should something go wrong. I was left in no doubt that the Marshall team wanted my purchase and ownership experience to be first class and they went out of their way to recover the situation. It worked; When I had an opportunity to buy another car in December, I didn't look anywhere else. Again the sales team did an excellent job and the car is just fantastic. I don't expect any issues but I am confident that the team will take care of anything that should arise. Based upon my experience, I recommend Marshall of Southampton without reservation.

He ended up delivering my new vehicle personally right at the end of his working day and would of had a lengthy commute back home. Great service, Steve and Rob had a courtesy car ready for me while the car was in for servicing. The servicing was completed and the vehicle ready for pickup just after lunch. Everything was explained and I was on my way in minutes. A video of the car's "health check" was sent to me by email. If you wish to wait while your car is being serviced, repaired, MoT'ed, etc. there is complimentary coffee and snacks available in a comfortable waiting area with a great view of the workshop to see the mechanics work on your car. A very pleasant experience.

I bought an Approved Used Mercedes C220 from this dealer over the Christmas period. Ivor was the salesperson. He was friendly and professional. I got a great car for a fair price and I'm very happy with my purchase. I also got a fair price for my part exchange and they were able to accommodate the fact that I would have to post them the service book and V5 without any fuss. Overall you get the sense that they're professionals who know what they're doing and don't mess you about. I would definitely recommend this dealership.
My only criticism (and given I'm happy with my purchase it's not that important really...) is that there was a lot of waiting around. Even during the quiet period between Christmas the New Year, Ivor had to run off for 10 minutes every time there was something to do (fetching the keys for a test drive, putting my details into their computer system etc.) To be fair to them, they did tell me before I arrived that their appointments are 2 hours long and I didn't believe them. Lesson learned - bring some reading material next time :)

I didn't expect an offer of a FREE CAR WASH/CLEAN or FREE HEALTH CHECK WITH VIDEO but gratefully accepted. Note made by the staff member.
Phone call later that day for collection but was told that the BRAKE FLUID NEEDED CHANGING. I declined as I have used another service garage for many years.
HAND-OVER- as drop-off but the car had NOT BEEN CLEANED as was in the same condition as drop-off.
NO HEALTH CHECK VIDEO even though my email address was checked.
My concern is that the car may not have been Covid sanitised for collection.
I noticed forecourt sales cars with COVID SAFE STICKERS across doors. A good idea which should also be used for customer cars.
My recommended service station advised me that the BRAKE FLUID CHANGE WOULD BE £60-70 and had been checked 3 months ago during service and did not need changing.
Does this experience make me change my service garage?
UPDATE: A quick response to my Google Review resulted in a phone call from the Service Manager who offered a full and honest explanation whereby each issue was acknowledged. I am impressed with how my complaint was handled and that Mercedes Southampton is customer focused.

I purchased a new C200 estate from Marshall of Southampton in June. After 5 months it has proved a smashing car to drive, with a really comfortable and sure-footed ride. The EQ boost system and 9G auto box work seamlessly together providing very relaxed performance with plenty of power and acceleration when required. The car has been much admired by our family and friends, in particular the lush interior finish and also the sheer practicality of the estate.

Howard, (clearly an enthusiastic and knowledgeable 'petrolhead'), looked after me from the off, the order process was one of the most straightforward ever, no hard-sell was attempted for extras I didn't want and he was very quick to answer all my questions throughout the two month wait for delivery. Collection and handover likewise was a breeze, I didn't feel rushed and a great deal was covered off in detail. It was also made clear that should I have any questions or issues whatsoever to get in touch or simply arrange to pop in. I had the pleasure of doing business with Abbey this week regarding purchasing a new A-class via telephone. As I live over one hour away Abbey took the time to take a video of an ex demo that I was originally interested in and was very efficient in sending over spec and answered all questions I had regarding the vehicle. In the end I decided to go for a brand new one and Abbey and the managers worked effortlessly to ensure I could achieve a car to my spec at a price that I was happy to pay for in such a short space of time (ex showroom that was unregistered but ready for pick up the next day). Handover at the dealership was smooth and Abbey and Chris took the time to show me all around the new vehicle and had explained how to use all the new technology inside. Two days later I received an email from Chris with a personal video attached showing more information and details about the technology which was a nice touch. Several weeks after purchasing a Mercedes from Marshall we had a small issue. We returned to the Dealership and asked to speak to Wade Turnbull who had sold us the vehicle, Wade took full ownership of the problem he liaised with the parts and service department on our behalf.
Everything was resolved why we drank coffee, We can not praise Wade highly enough we received excellent customer service.

My C220 AMG was recently submitted for Service B at Mercedes Benz of Southampton. The service was excellent. The vehicle was collected from my home promptly.
I received communication regarding the service whilst it was being undertaken and I was able to take decisions on replacement parts. I was also provided with a video of the service.
Of particular note was the professionalism and product knowledge of the Service Team Manager Steve Kennelly regarding a service package and compatibility of replacement tyres for the vehicle. Being able to discuss these issues at the time of service was most appropriate so that an informed decision could be taken.
The vehicle was returned later the same day having been cleaned and valeted.
This was customer service of the highest quality and I would have no hesitation in recommending Mercedes Benz of Southampton.

I recently bought my Mercedes Benz GLA at the Southampton branch, it has now been 2 weeks and I can not fault the 5 star service they have given. I arrived at the dealership and Maddie Minty showed me around 3 GLA's that were available, she printed out all of the specifications of each vehicle and advised which one had more value for money. Maddie was amazing and I purchased the car that day, she has arranged everything even sorting the transfer of my private plate, when I arrived to pick up the car everything was ready and the car was immaculate. 1 week later I had a couple of questions reference the car and Maddie replied immediately. fantastic after sales experience.

We have known Young Martin Rendall almost since he joined Mercedes and have dealt with him a couple of times over the years. Seeing as I only went in for a service it was a shock to find a few hours later I had contracted for a new model car that had only been in the show room a couple of days. Looking at other reviews it seems as though I am reviewing a different company. I took my car in for a minor fault where I was treated courteously by reception staff and a member of the service team where the fault was dealt with efficiently and kept me informed me of progress (they also loaned me a fab car!). During my visit I thought I might upgrade my car and arranged a test drive later in the day. The salesperson, Martin Rendall, was extremely helpful and patient and spent a lot of time with us. Obviously he wanted to sell the car to me but at no time did I feel pressurised. Unfortunately I did not follow through and, although Martin must have been disappointed, at no time did he express his disappointment. I would definitely recommend this company and Martin.

Jack Skinner was amazing in sourcing a test car and did all he could to guide me into the specific options that could match the performance and sportbsack functionality I wanted. After having broken my shoulder, I was looking for a car which was easier to get in and out of than my present VW, and visited the local Mercedes dealership at Southampton. I was particularly impressed with the way I was shown the various models without being in any way hurried or feeling any pressure to buy. I returned a week later and had a test drive in a model B but again there was no pressure at all. Following that I returned during their special "VIP" sales event in September. By then I had settled on a particular B class model. The salesman, Martin Rendall, offered me a good discount and fair part exchange price but as it was a factory order it would be about 3 months before it could have been delivered. Martin made the effort to search through other national dealerships and found a more expensive model which was offered at the same price but readily available, which I was very pleased to accept. Through the next couple of weeks while the car was obtained and prepared, Martin kept me fully informed. On the day of delivery, I was given a thorough introduction to the car by Martin and Simon Poynter and no trouble was spared in explaining all the extra technology that I had no previous experience of. Both Martin and Simon answered my queries over the next few weeks with great patience and made it clear I could come back at any time if I had any issues. I feel this is exceptional service, always delivered with genuine courtesy, which is why I took the time to write this review.

Buying a cars is rarely straight forward there are so many variables: type, brand, specifications dealership, purchasing options and and and..... Personally I waxed and waned on a split decision between BMW530 MSport and a MB E400d Cabriolet? Each consideration came in wave after wave of dilemma to fine tune the decision. ( you know that phase of the car buying process when customers become an absolute pain in the derrière)

Slightly let down with the handover, previous Mercedes purchase from Sandown Salisbury was much better. Instead of sending me a video of the car Sandown had the car covered with a cover and once the paperwork was complete the car was unveiled, much more exciting.
Guess the lack of the free cleaning packs which were previously supplied have been cut due to Mercedes cut backs.
Not sure the car was as clean as it could have been, interior glass was grubby and screen had a greasy film on it. Boot shuts had not been cleaned and were full of dirt and dust.

Because I had taken out tyre insurance they sorted it out with the insurance company, gave me a lift to work. They were supposed to drop my services at work however they drove it home. Got a fairly decent deal on a very nice A45. The one I was told I was test driving was unexplainably unavailable. But that didn't matter as the one I ended up test driving was the one I wanted anyway. Wasn't to pressured during the sales process, I was made to feel very relaxed on the test drive and could drive it how I wanted, though the theatrics of disappearing to talk to a manager a few times was a bit of a time waste. Car was delivered on the date promised and perfect condition. The car has since been back for warranty work and it was handled very professionally by the in-house team, the work appears to be a very high standard and gave me confidence to sign up for a service plan with them - however the initial request through the phone/internet chat/email was difficult, had to try each method to get an appointment and was poorly scheduled by the first point of contact. Bit of a mixed bag and seems very much luck of who you get on the day. If the admin was as consistent as the sales/service guys I dealt directly with in-store, it would be a 5 Star review

I purchased an ex demo SL500 (2,800miles) from Marshalls Mercedes Benz, Southampton, a great car and just what I was looking for, from my home 150 miles away. I negotiated a fair deal with a trade-in of an earlier SL500 with a very good salesperson. Unfortunately from there on things went downhill. After driving the car home I discovered that several things were missing, no owners manual, no first aid kit and only one key. This was in February, and following endless emails and telephone calls it is now early April and I have just received the items, the key having been sent to my local Mercedes dealer for programming to my vehicle today. Obviously the distance between myself and the dealer made the situation more difficult, as I believe a face to face confrontation would have speeded things up somewhat.
This dealership, in my opinion, needs to ensure that this situation doesn't happen to others. It's very frustrating!!
