I recently bought a Volvo XC60 from Ray Chapman's of York and I can honestly say that it was a great experience. I felt valued as a customer and everything was so professional when I arrived. I made the journey from Chesterfield to York and I am so glad that I did. I got a cracking deal on my old Volvo as part exchange. When I picked the car up it was immaculate inside and out, my personalised plates were fitted along with other accessories I had ordered. Mike Paton was brilliant throughout the procedure as was Tom Griffiths. I would not hesitate to recommend this dealership to anyone, first class service throughout my dealings.

I should like to place on record the excellent service I received from Barrie, Nigel & Andy who were instrumental in negotiating with Volvo UK to have a major component replaced on my XC40 Inscription Volvo free of charge even though the warranty had expired.
When people complain about garage services , I have nothing but praise for Ray Chapman Motors who sorted out this problem to my entire satisfaction and even valeted my car.

Amazing experience, especially since this was our first "online" purchase/lease without even meeting the salesperson on the other side or seeing the vehicle...initial contact was with Mrs Flint and she was super helpful and responsive even in COVID19 setup. She was the only one (and I've been shopping around for some time) who really tried to find the best option for us as we were looking for a stock vehicle with the most of our desired extras included...she was really super flexible and helpful and that's what made the sale!!
I have to mention also her colleagues who took over in between, Mrs. Heselwood and Mrs. Firth who did a splendid job in making sure we were fully up to date with all the info needed and were answering all our questions.
The vehicle (XC60) has been prepared on the date and was handed over by Mrs. Flint with full introduction and extremely helpful advice.
Overall a very positive experience and a very personal touch to the car sales from everyone involved.

Super useful chap. Steve, was so helpful we test drove a plug in hybrid xc40 and loved it but it was just a tad too big for what we needed.
Steve didn't pressure us at all, he said if it's not right it's not right and that was OK. He was so relaxed about the whole thing which was refreshing and I may be going back again to get my own new car nevermindthe missus.

Been coming here for years. Dropped car in for service and the service personnel were excellent. Focused, professional and attentive. My only concern here, which personally made me somewhat uncomfortable was that it was like COVID isn't around, rather than at its highest rates. Granted there was the odd bottle of sanitiser around but I only saw one member of staff with a mask and hardly any customer had one. This was in stark contrast to another York dealership I visited recently where precautions to protect people were more focused. If scoring this separately I would give COVID awareness one star and service of the car 5 stars. At the end of the day the idea of mask wearing is to stop you giving the virus to other people, rather than protect yourself so from a customer service perspective they should take every step to protect customers. In my eyes anyway.

I bought a used Audi from Ray Chapman Volvo York a few weeks ago . I liked the car because of the low mileage , high spec and attractive price . I felt comfortable with Toms manner and the way my enquiry was handled .
After I brought the car home , I initially had some issues With it ,So I rang the dealership and I raised my concerns and they quickly promised to fix the issues. We agreed a solution to get the car repaired and they were kind enough to assist me in a replacement car whilst mine was in for repair(which was essential for work and the kids).
I can honestly say that everything that was agreed was done , they went the extra mile to help me out and I would go back to them in a heartbeat for another car in the future. Cars are complex things , and things do happen , but it’s how you handle the problem that makes all the difference. First time I have ever bought a car over the internet. Mike Paton picked up my initial contact and aided me most professionally through the process. There were a couple of short delays but they were actually in my best interests as they had uncovered a couple of repairs that needed done.
I was kept totally up to date with the whole process.
Delivery was made to my home in Fife by a very professional delivery driver who will also get 10/10.

Bought an XC 60 but had to return immediately because of battery issues, which I had pointed out at initial viewing. However I did ask that they check the battery's condition before and after charging, which they did, discovering as I thought that a new battery was required, which RC did without any haggling. I have to say it was a real pleasure to deal with James in particular, a man whose manners and manner are reminiscent of a more gracious age.Ray Chapman are indeed fortunate to have him.

I did something silly, I overfilled my 2010 XC60 with too much oil. (oil level sense service required.)
We was 250 miles away from home and was due to drive back the next day. Rang these guys up and they was absolutely brilliant. I explained the situation and they didn't make me feel stupid. Carried out a mini service on my beloved volvo (oil and filter change, software update etc)
They had no slots left for the workshop for the day but said drop it off and they would attended to it as soon as possible. Even dropped me of the local park and ride. Got a phone call to say the car was ready a few hours after it was dropped off.
Went to pick it up and was pleasantly surprised to see they was washing it and hoovering it. Car was sanitised fully too.
price was cheaper than first quoted.
This was excellent customer service, they went above and beyond in my opinion. They wasn't aware of this at the time, but we have a child with a serious heart defect that can not use public transport, especially in these current times. (been shielding since March and this was our first family get way since restrictions was lifted) so we desperately needed the car to be right for our return journey to Brighton. The thought of breaking down on route (due to my stupid mistake) coursed a little anixity. As I said, these guys was brilliant. Main dealers tend to get a lot of negative feedback, especially regarding servicing.

I have just picked up my XC40 from Chapmans York following its first service.This was after I had received a text with video message and an e mail to confirm that the service was complete and all was well. The car was washed and cleaned and ready to be collected. Both communications confirmed what had been checked , any work done and advises if any work is needed or may be in the near future. So you know exactly what to expect when you arrive at the superb facilities Chapmans have at their York Business Park Showroom and Workshops. They are a credit to the company. They ooze with quality and that sets the 5 star standard in all the areas of their business . The service you receive from the staff lives up to that 5 star rating and that,s one reason why I have bought Volvos from Chapmans for over 20 years.
Also Volvo cars just get better and better and the XC40 is no exception its a great vehicle and the best acquisition i have made particularly as it was in the middle of the pandemic.

Picked up my Volvo XC40 R Design Pro this morning.
I ordered this in October and have to say this was worth the wait. It’s out of this world and has so many features I never even thought it would have.
Graham the salesman was friendly and had a really good knowledge of his products.
He sent me a few videos of the car going through the different stages of getting it ready for collection (nice little touch).
This morning when I came in to collect the car with my partner Jill on reception was stood with the biggest smile I’ve ever seen, she knew who I was before I even mentioned my name. After taking us to Graham she brought over Coffee and cake and even spent 10 minutes having a chat about our home town of Hull. I think this approach with a customer shows why a family business like this is worth its weight in gold.
The new showroom is spacious, light, open and accessible. This is a modern showroom that reflects the new modern image of Volvo.
Graham introduced us to the service manager so we knew who we would be dealing with when we do have the car serviced.
The hand over with Graham was very in-depth, he started by doing all the paperwork explaining what he was doing at all stages. Graham then set up my Volvo on call app and explaining how it worked and what I could do with the app and car, then going through the settings of the car.
Before we left we were given a rather nice surprise from James one of the managers I had chatted with a couple of times. I had mentioned we were going to Scotland for a week and to our surprise we unwrapped a jigsaw to do while we are in Scotland. This really was just the cherry on the cake for us and cemented our discussion to go to York and see Ray Chapman Volvo and not a local dealer.
Ray Chapman Volvo put so much on their being a family run dealership. I think this is what makes them who they are. We did have one little hiccup along the way but this was dealt with and the fact they are a family run dealership I think made them sort the hiccup out better then most would. They value the business people give them much more than a big dealer would so I think they go that extra mile for the customer.
Thank you everyone for today and the amazing service given. If I was to rate you out of 10 it would be 20 out of 10.
