Chris is undoubtedly the best car salesman i have ever encountered anywhere, ever, and I've been in a lot of car showrooms, for new cars especially, over the last 12 years, including Porche and Mercedes, Jaguar, BMW, Citroen, Audi who were actually close but not close enough, VW, not even going to mention the Ford non existent sales team. But Chris, what a great guy! He was knowledgeable and not over pushy but just pushy enough. Helpful in bucket loads and so far above the average car salesman, especially in York, that I was genuinely shocked, after many many disappointing experiences in Yorkshire in general where you are there with the money and no one wants to help you. Not so with Chris. As we are seriously looking for a new car we found this dealer to be one of the best options. Have now decided. Best value for money here and best car knowledge and help from Chris. The Kia ENiro does the job that is required. Sadly part of this decision included the fact that Skoda cannot supply their Enyaq for 14 months and Tesla have sky rocketed in price due to Brexit/Covid/Exchange rate price hike, whichever you want to blame. Chris here, has the required car on the forecourt, with more coming soon. No contest. Lots of these on the roads too, so ask any other driver how they feel and they all feel the same, that it is the best value car for the job at present. Thanks Chris.

I bought a used vw golf last month at the Durham branch. Very pleased with it apart from letting in water on the near side rear door. Was advised to take it to my nearest branch which happened to be York. The car was only purchased a month ago so was still in warranty. Received absolutely first class service. Replacement door speaker seal fitted and car returned fully valeted. Can't praise the workshop staff enough. Thank you.

Having bought my Kia Ceed,, 6 years from new, have received excellent service for servicing and MOTs. Feel can trust them. No work has been deemed necessary to be carried out on car by Petch.Their staff are helpful. Only criticism would be that several makes of cars are sold and as a consequence the relatively small show room in my case doesn't allow for full range of Kias to be inspected ie the new Kia module variant in interested in.

Having moved to the York area, we recently went shopping for a smaller city car and targeted a small Kia model and so went to SG Petch York at Monk’s Cross having had a recommendation through friends. We were looking at all the cars on the forecourt which included Fiat, Jeep and Alfa Romeos ranges, as well as Kia’s, when one of the sales people approached us. Martin was wonderful from the outset in terms of the knowledge he imparted on each vehicle and what he asked us in terms of what we were looking for; he was also the opposite of pushy. We agreed to test drive a couple of cars the following day and, again, Martin couldn’t have been more helpful and patient. We’ve actually ended up buying a brand new Fiat 500 at a very good price and we couldn’t recommend Martin and SG Petch York enough. Between agreeing to buy the car and picking it up, again, Martin couldn’t have been more helpful and the whole process has been a really good experience. We will need to change our other car at some point in the near future and we will simply make a beeline for SG Petch and Martin for this one too. It’s a really nice and friendly company to do business with.

When my car would not start on 2 successive days I rang Petch and they suggested I ring the recovery firm. Get them to take my car to Petch's. The recovery firm stated if they could get it going then I should drive it to Petch's. I informed Petch this. As this would cause me problems organising care for my terminal ill wife I could not give a definite time. They said bring it in when you can. I arrived with the car. Steve at the Fiat desk could not have been more friendly and helpful. I was then given a lift home. The process of diagnosis on the car was carried out over 2 days and solved. Steve kept me informed all of the way. When the car was fixed they sent a car to pick me up. I collected car and noted that it had also been valeted and washed and a health check carried out. Salesman Reg was good, after sales team rubbish. About a week or so after purchasing our sportage there appeared to be a slight knocking coming from under the car, I was told it might be an anti roll joint that's worn by a local mechanic, the car was booked in to have a tow bar fitted because sg petch told us they don't fit towbars, while the car was in the fitting bay I asked the fitter if he would have a quick look (nothing visable could be seen), I then a few days later booked it into sg petchs workshop for examination, to be informed it was the tow bar causing the knocking, we explained it could not possibly be the towbar as it made the noise prior to it being fitted, to which the reply was well we will take your towbar off for a fee of £250 to eliminate this as a cause, we repeated that the noise was apperrent before the towbar was fitted this fell on deaf ears and then was told we should have let them fit the towbar, they told us when we bought the car sorry we don't fit towbars, round and round we went until we just came away with the car and the noise grrr

We have just exchanged our much loved Renault Megane for a Kia Rio from S G Petch York. In the past I have hated the whole process of trading in a car and purchasing a replacement. We had a very different experience at S G Petch York. Our salesman George Hope was very helpful at no point did we feel under any pressure. George's colleagues that we came in contact were also helpful. We asked for a few minor paint chips to be repaired on the car we were buying. On dropping off our old car and collecting the Rio, George took us through the whole process in a very professional manner and giving a comprehensive overview of our new car. The Kia Rio we had bought was repaired as requested and we are delighted with it I have bought and sold many cars over 40 years of driving and have never had such good customer service.
