Fantastic service - absolutely what small businesses are all about. Brilliant wee car - exactly what we needed. The guys were also mega friendly and helpful giving us pointers for good walks, where to eat etc. The hero medal goes to Scott - the plane to take us back to the mainland couldn’t land and we were stranded! Scott had doubled back to the airport when he realised the plane hadn’t landed and came to see if we still needed the car. He then gave us a lift to Port Ellen just in time to catch the ferry meaning we made our flight home with 2 minutes to spare. Customer service Islay style - the absolute best. Highly recommended

Great hire experience and customer service. Car was at the airport with keys in it and drop off was the same. All paperwork done in advance. Also kindly sent on an item we had left in the car. We even had the car with the "tourist number plate"!

Having used Islay car hire very successfully on our last trip this was our go to company.We had arranged airport pick up but our flight was cancelled and we had to get the ferry.The car was delivered to the port without a problem. Great car, just what we needed. As (bad) luck would have it our flight home was also cancelled! The car was still in the car park and Scott very kindly allowed us to drive it to the port saving us stress and money. Will always use this company in the future. Islay Car Hire and Scott Urquhart did a tremendous job for us. Scott met us at the ferry arriving in Port Ellen with our car. Then he led us to the bike rental shop we used. He transported my wife’s bike and my bike to the Islay House. Then Scott arranged to pick up our bikes and return them to the bike rental. Excellent customer service by Islay Car Hire and Scott went above and beyond! We highly recommend using their company!

Customer service was exceptional. Car was waiting at the airport upon our arrival and was easy to return when we left. Scott even went above and beyond for me when I realized I had left my favorite pair of sunglasses behind in the glove box. He arranged to have then shipped back to me extremely quickly. Couldn't be happier with the experience, will definitely use them again when I come back.

Having read the mixed reviews, I was slightly hesitant to use Islay Car Hire. My concerns were totally unfounded. Scott took the booking very quickly & professionally and when we went to the airport to collect the car ( we only had it for 1 day) the whole process only took a couple of minutes, then picked up the keys to a very nice little Corsa. It was clean, inside & out, drove well & did all we wanted. At a very reasonable price too. Having hired numerous cars around Europe, this was by far the best & easiest car hire encountered. I would fully recommend Islay Car Hire to anyone.

At very short notice following a clutch failure, Islay Car Hire came up with a vehicle for me. It was clean, tidy and fully serviced ready to go, and at a very good price. The proprietor couldn't have been more helpful phoning mechanics to try and arrange repairs to my car, and happy to collect his car from the ferry terminal on my departure morning. I can wholeheartedly recommend this service, it's 5 stars from me!

Excellent service offered by Scott and his team! We arrived by ferry in the evening and the car was at the dock on time and ready to go for our adventures on Islay. They made us feel welcome and explained where to go on the island which led us to one of the best views and beaches at Ardnave. Scott was available by phone when we had any questions and went out of his way to help us. It was a pleasure learning about Islay and Jura from a local and supporting their business. My family spent a few days on Islay in May 2018. I can strongly recommend hiring a car at Islay Car Hire located at the Airport. It's the best way to get around and see as much of the beautiful island as possible. The service too is great, from beginning to end. And even afterwards they were ever so helpful to send us our daughter's earphones by mail which she had left behind by accident. Very grateful!

Friendly Service from Scott, although we had a delay at Glagow Airport. We informed them by mail about the delay and that's it. When we arrived Scott fulfilled the details of our contract, asked us, where we had booked B&B and offedred us a nice!! car. Thanks for Your patience. Can't imagine, that anybody is "rude" on this Island. Will book again when we are back on Islay.

Organised a vehicle through the internet and discussed on the phone with Scott. We were greeted immediately after the Ferry at Port Askaig and able to drop the car at the Port Ellen station. Great service, communication and convenience. Thanks very much Islay Car Hire

The owner of Islay cars is an absolute sweetheart who very kindly helped us out when a wheel and tyre on our car were damaged beyond repair. Replacement wheel and tyre fitted and pressures on all the tyres checked for a very good price. He couldnt tale a credit card and we didnt have quite enough cash so he just charged us what we had.He even gave us a wheel trim when he saw ours was missing. He was so kind and helpful. He saved us from a real problem at the start of our holiday that could have spoiled the few days we had on Islay. He's a one man operator and finds time to volunteer crew for the lifeboat as well so be patient if he can't get to you straight away.

Burst two tyres on the one pothole near Part Askaig. Scott came to my rescue with 2 new tyres, finished a repair on his last available hire car so I could have it overnight for a safety inspection on Jura, and then took me back down to Port Askaig to pick up my car after I had returned the hire car. That enabled me to catch the last ferry to Jura on the first day and the last ferry to the mainland on the second day. Tremendous service.
