Good service but expect delays. Pricing is good, customer service is great. But the management need to realise the staff are over worked. It took me over 45 mins/nearly an hour to collect my van. This lead to me being very behind schedule for the rest of the day. There are not enough staff and this leads to delays. The staff at this branch are very polite and helpful considering how hard they have to work. But more hands could handle the work load quicker.

Good friendly service. Always have what I need. Even at short notice. The only draw back I had was I over filled on petrol and was not refunded. But guess that's on me. More of an annoyance on my part then a fault on the company. Who knows.🤔. But definitely will use this company again.

Collected a 17 seater mini bus from the Millbrook branch. Staff helpful. But the standard of valeting of the mini bus was not that good. That has let you down, hence why only four stars

Hope I had found these guys sooner! Much better prices compared to every big company around. Queue when collecting the vehicle was a little bit long but overall good customer service. Most importantly unlike some companies out there, they're not running a scam to fleece hundreds of pounds from their customers by finding minimal scratches/scuff marks. 5/5 would recommend and use again.

Normally I would only review pub's and restaurants, however, due to the fact that we had 'the day from hell' caused by incompetent and over zealous people... From renting a vehicle with a stipulation that its unladen weight had to be under 3 tonnes, loading a van, driving for over an hour only to be turned away because the vehicle is half a ton over weight. (Thank you Worthing waste recycling.... Not!) Supplied vehicle was 3.5 tonnes. Driving another hour back to the Fareham branch to be offered another unsuitable van. Then driving to the Southampton branch where we managed to finally get the correct van and a guy who was brilliant and really so helpful. So thank you so much James for helping and meeting your customers vehicle needs. If it wasn't for this man's customer service, dedication and making good other people's mistakes I would seriously not use this company again.

There was a 40 minute queue to pick up vehicles right after opening time on a bank holiday Saturday but staff were very friendly and helpful. It was easy to add on an additional driver when we arrived. We got upgraded to a bigger van for free which was great for moving house! Staff checked the vehicle with us before setting off to make sure we wouldn't get charged for scratches/marks we didn't make.

It was the first time I have hired a van so was unsure of what I needed. I explained my requirements to Lee? who was very helpful and measured the diagonals of the doors which stopped me hiring the wrong van. I picked up a low loader early on a Monday morning and despite it being busy it didn't take long to get processed by the helpful receptionist. I returned the van 8 hours and 300 miles later and had the payment and the deposit returned by next day. There was a small excess charge of about £8 for the extra 100 mile which is very reasonable. I would recommend using U-Drive to anyone. Thanks

Great experience using them to move home. Only issue was the van was not very clean inside but they did provide sheets for this. Van was ready early and pick up drop off process very easy.

My family and I have used the Southampton U-Drive branch several times and have had an excellent experience with them on each and every occasion. We've hired their cars for several day trips plus a UK holiday and their vans three times for house moving. The customer service we've received has been second to none and I personally cannot fault them. The circumstances of our most recent move in particular proved to me what a great company this is. We get by okay but aren't exactly well off and moving house is expensive so a mate said they'd get us a really cheap deal with another local vehicle hire firm since they knew some of the staff. We decided to give them a go as we needed every penny we could save for the new house. We phoned in advance to confirm the details and were assured all was well. On the Monday of our moving week (we were also working nights on our regular jobs & had to allow for this) we arrived at their base only to be told they were unable to honour the agreement and there wouldn't be a van available until Friday. Disaster! After several phone calls and much cursing we left with our tails between our legs and headed for U-Drive. We explained our situation somewhat sheepishly to the U-Drive staff, feeling very stupid for not using them to begin with, and they were absolutely fantastic. They didn't have a transit van available straight away but told us there was one due to be returned soon and it would be reserved for us. In the mean time they gave us a smaller van so we could get started and promised to call when they had the transit. True to their word the phone rang that evening and U-Drive said the transit would be ready first thing in the morning. When we picked it up the brilliant U-Drive staff had included some free sack trucks (for moving larger household items) to 'compensate' for the inconvenience of having to wait for the van we wanted! Unbelievable service! On top of this the overall cost was only slightly more than the so-called 'cheap deal' we'd originally been given. On another occasion we hired a car from U-Drive to take our children to Chessington World of Adventures during a school holiday. Having enjoyed a fantastic family day out we returned to the car, which was parked in one of several fields used for this purpose, and discovered an extensive scratch accompanied by quite a large dent along the driver's side where someone had obviously hit it whilst manoeuvering between the vehicles. Whoever it was made no attempt to do the right thing as they did not bother to wait for our return so they could apologise and explain what had happened. They didn't even leave contact details under a windscreen wiper. After talking to staff at the park we established that there was no CCTV with a view of our car as the parking fields were patrolled by wardens. Also, none of the wardens had witnessed what happened as they were busy controlling the traffic that was leaving the venue. We had insurance through U-Drive of course but with the person responsible for the damage doing a disappearing act we didn't know what to expect and were bracing ourselves for a potentially hefty bill. We phoned U-Drive to advise them of the damage and find out what we needed to do next. To our surprise they were very understanding and told us not to worry, they would take care of everything. In the end the only consequence for us was the loss of our £100 deposit which definitely wouldn't have covered the repair costs. Yet another example of the amazing service I've experienced over the years from U-Drive. I highly recommend them.

Great friendly service and one of the few car hire companies that will allow you to use cash or your debit card as a deposit, no credit card required. Only issue that I could find is that there is a a very small millage allowance of only 200 miles per day. So if your hiring for business trip lets say in Manchester from Southampton then this is not the car hire company for you. If you hire a car for 7 days then it is unlimited millage.
