We had a good and bad experience!! Wanted a part exchange, found a car I liked, did all the paperwork, finance accepted, agreed to come in next morning to finalise and pick up the car! Next day turned up at 9.25am to collect car and problem occurred with the finance company....ended up sorting a bank loan for the car and left garage about 4.30pm!! He was beyond helpful, went above and beyond on all counts and was very professional and knowledgeable - a great credit to the team. My wife and I, arrived for a test drive in a Peugeot 208 Active. And we were looked after by Jamie. She had a word with us first, explaining what route we would be taking. I drove the car to our destination, and my wife, drove it back to the dealership. We were both pleased with the car, and we Sat Down to discuss the different options. She explained everything in detail, and we clearly understood, everything she said. She offered us both a drink, and we felt very much at ease. After going through the various packages, we decided to purchase the car. She even taxed the vehicle, and sent of the log book. All we had to do now, was drive home. Just had a test drive here today in a used car (2017 reg). Mia, the salesperson was absolutely brilliant in everything she did. She was lovely and polite. The car I drove was great too. The problem was with the actual sale itself. The price of the car was too high and the additional fees for hpi checks was stupid. The dealer wouldn't drop the price on the car, stating it was the cheapest in the area so I left without buying it. I drove down the road for 25 minutes and found 3 more of the same car in the same specification at a cheaper price AND the cars are 12 months newer. Typical dealership not budging on price. I'm not greedy. I just wasn't prepared to pay £200 more for a 2017 car when I can get a 2018 version. I feel sorry for Mia, the salesperson, she was brilliant, but, it just shows that you have to shop around.

It’s worth saying I had a nightmare with this dealership 5 years ago, I was reluctant to even go in, but I wanted a DS so I gave them a chance. It seems the sales force has completely changed since my last experience. Hayden wasn’t pushy, he let me come to my own decisions and pulled out every stop for me. My car had been written off the week before and he even helped me out with picking me up on collection day as I didn’t have anyone to help me get to the dealership. The price was actually so good I didn’t even try to bring them down!!! The car itself is everything I wanted (as a former DS3 owner I already liked the brand anyway) and if you are looking for something with more going on than the average hatchback I would recommend them. I feel I can leave a review now its three months since purchase. At first we werent confident getting a car from here after reading reviews, but the car we liked was here so we went ahead after searching everywhere for one like it.(a sexy red 1.6 ecoboost) Bill was the bloke who sold it too us, he didnt pressure or push us into it. He simply took us for a proper test drive and sat back. Exactly what you want when buying a car in my opinion. He sorted us out with a good trade in price and arranged for the car to have a special coating on the paint and seats. When we picked up it was gleaming, not a mark on it and thoroughly clean inside. After two weeks we had a problem with the headlight washer being bodged by the previous owner and it was fixed immediately. Today the car was in for a noise and it apears to be sorted but they have offered their services if it carries on. I genuinely have no negative feedback about the experience and will be coming back in a couple of years!!

OK. I have changed my review due entirely to the personal intervention of Stuart Peacock, the Dealer Principal. I had a poor experience of customer service exacerbated by apparently shoddy work. However, Stuart took on my complaint and since then the service has been much improved. Evans Halshaw need to work on their centralised phone system as it can still be difficult to contact the actual site but Stuart (who has only been here 7 weeks) is aware and is re-energising the whole York dealership and service centre from the bottom up. Any problems, ask to speak with Stuart Peacock!
