This place is an utter ray of sunshine to bring some cheer on a rainy Edinburgh lunch time. The Mexican style chicken sandwich is so fresh and full of goodness, very yummy. The side salad that came with it is way above average with diverse leaves, seeds, shredded broccoli, juicy toms and a gorgeous dressing. Plus they were playing reggae. Staff were friendly, happy chatting customers, over all vibrant atmosphere. Think I've found my new favourite lunch place 😁 Update - the owner left a very friendly response to my review which suggested there may be some free cake the next time I visit! This response isn't showing publicly on my review for some reason but wanted to mention it as think it is a good illustration of exactly the kind of place Embo seems to be. Just lovely. Will be back for sure!

Mike from Embo provided sharing platters for birthday party at The Outhouse. Food was really delicious and Mike was really friendly and helpful (esp in arranging it quite last minute!) Highly recommend!

Very small cafe, two people are serving behind the bar, cosy and nice clean place, affordable prices with small menu, good location near city centre, service was very good from my perspective, they providing news papers so if you want quick coffee at the morning it is perfect place to go

Absolutely amazing food. We stayed at Archerfield and he catered for us perfectly for New Year’s Eve! We had lovely little canapés and he even delivered it to us ! 100% I would recommend using this deli and we will defo use him again.

Went in to Embo today, for a take away coffee. Always such a pleasure with lovely staff. Pleased to see such extra care with covid measures, but also of course a lovely coffee. Mike was incredibly helpful and always met our demands with good humour and a brilliant attitude of ‘can do’! Mike delivered on time every time and his food was consistently excellent. He will serve your Production or event with care and attention, he made us feel like we were his only costumer! He’ll make your life easier than you thought it could be. The food is delicious, using great ingredients Mike offers a ton of range.

Doesn't look like some upmarket quality deli, it isn't the fanciest shopfront. But it is honest and functional and artistic and wholesome, just like the food. Great wee spot.

Emin is an amazing little cafe, concentrating on fresh interesting food. It’s a great stop of breakfast or lunch, though be prepared for a wait occasionally as it can get very busy.

My wife and I are regulars at Embo. She works nearby so we often stop by for coffee or breakfast before work or occasionally for lunch. The food is always excellent as are the drinks and the staff are friendly and helpful. My favourite dish is their hot smoked trout with pesto, toast and salad.

Always reliable for a god sandwich or wrap. Embo has a really good choice of fillings available and make your sandwich to order which is always a big plus in my book. Good choice of tea and coffee too and staff have always been very accommodating. The decor is very relaxed though seating is limited and not the most comfortable, if the seating was more comfortable it would be a nice spot to linger a while.

Embo is a nice and cute Deli on Top of Leith Walk. I’ve been there several times, mainly because its customer service is good and is a practical pit-stop between Leith & Edinburgh Centre. On my first occasion I got a chorizo salad with grilled halloumi, roast vegetables, sweet chilli (overly sweet to tell the truth) but it was a very abundant portion, washed down with a Coke. On my other visit I went through a Meaty Breakfast Wrap with bacon, mushroom, cheddar cheese and bruschetta salad, and again too sweet for my palate. It looks that they add sugar everywhere and that is a turn-off for me. Also, needs to be said, that the cappuccino they serve is a very sui-generis one, it looks and tastes more like a white coffee with some froth but had no direct relation with its original Italian counterpart. As they have Wi-Fi and staff is cool, I don’t mind to pop there again, however it won’t be my first choice.

Embo was responsible for the Catering for 25 people during 5 days of shoot of my short film in October/November 2019. Everyone that works as a producer knows how important it is to feed the cast and crew properly, after all, hungry people are equal to angry people. The food provided was not only delicious, but also the service was spotless. Mike and the crew were extremely friendly, flexible and helpful, and everyday we heard nothing but compliments from the film crew. Would work with them again without a blink, and also recommend to any production!

I love Embo, it’s my regular treat. Art work on the walls is beautiful and often for sale, staff are always friendly and the food is delicious. Highly recommend the roast veg and feta toasted wrap with a mocha 👌🏻
