Reviews of Whiski Bar & Restaurant
D.
Nice atmosphere in this pub located in the middle of Edinburgh old town, along the famous Royal Mile. We were starving and very thirsty from the hike to Arthur’s Seat and we really enjoyed a pint of the locally brewed chilled lager. We obviously wanted to try the famous haggis, and we weren’t disappointed by the starter: haggis spring rolls.. quite tasty! Following we tried to of the mains: the Steak Ale Pie, also nice, and the Haggis Tower. This is absolutely fantastic! The Whiskey List is impressive and there are options for extensive tasting experience! This place is a must to go in Edinburgh!
E. W.
Showed up without a reservation and they seated us immediately. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Ordered the Haggis rolls as an introduction to Haggis and knew immediately our meal would be fantastic. Everything we ordered was amazing. Definitely go here. Best Old Fashioned around!

This is a lovely restaurant/bar on the Royal Mile. We visited in December 2021. We had steak and ale pie which was absolutely delicious. We had a nice table in the back and the environment was enjoyable. Staff were attentive and nice.

Amazing atmosphere, live music daily from 9:30pm, the drinks are really good. True whisky bar, only a couple of non-whisky cocktails - don't expect to find gin here. Unfortunately the kitchen wasn't open by the time we arrived at 8:30 pm, so can't comment on the food. The music was great Scottish folk, thanks Old Dollar Bill. To make it perfect, could only be dog friendly. Last orders at 11:30pm on the day we came, (a Thursday).

Welcoming and polite hospitality...
Fast service and well presented food.
Kids dinner appeared homemade fish and chips....Chunky chips as well.
Nice selection of whiskeys.
Also comfortable and clean.
Reasonable price for Edinburgh...3 main meals and 1 kids meal. 2 ciders, 2 decent whiskey and 2 soft drinks include tip... £95.
S. K. A.
Loved the vibes and the ambience. The whiskey cocktails were fab and left you wanting for more. The food was perfect - the Salmon with cream sauce was divine and Whiskey burger was scrumptious.
The only improvement area will be the portion size of the fish cake we ordered for the starters - for 9 pounds the portion size was small and felt it was not value for money (taste wise it was fab).

Great traditional scotish pub in the center of Edinburgh. They have live music every day. The staff is very nice and friendly. Lots of great and differents drinks and also good food !!
H. W.
An absolute must for anyone visiting the Royal Mile. Good atmosphere, friendly, attentive staff who are happy to talk you through the drinks menus. My partner thoroughly enjoyed his experience sampling whiskey's recommended by staff. Looking forward to our next visit

What a nice and convenient spot to chill at with a great ambiance. Located in the heart of Edinburgh right across the Radisson Blu hotel. Everything we ordered off the menu was exceptional! Highly recommend the Venison rump and sticky toffee pudding ice cream. They also have live music every night including Scottish folk songs. I would definitely go back if I were to visit Edinburgh again.

Amazing!!! Came back 3x during our short stay. Amazing food (especially the cullen skink) and staff really doing their best in the always busy restaurant. The daily live music shows are also super. Definitely the best place in town!
N. Y.
Really cool place to have some pints, food and whisky! They were taking long to serve our food, and when we were about to ask, as people that came later got it before we did, one of the staff members approached to us and asked if we were still waiting. We got the food soon after that, I have a feeling they Lost the ticket. But didn't give us a bad impression, they sorted it out and ti be fair, they were super busy and only 3 staff members on the floor. If you like whisky, ask staff for recomendations, they will be super helpful. We tried the whisky burgers and they were delicious. It's not the cheapest place but really enjoyed it!

Easy going place with friendly staff. Good selection of whiskey (obviously). Been here a few times now and the food has always been prompt and consistent.
A. K.
Super tasty food, great atmosphere, helpful and attentive staff. Also a good opportunity to hear some love music.
B. F.
Cullen skink scottish soup is a must-try if you are visiting Edinburgh.
If you want to try Huggies, this is the place to come. It is a great place to have a dinner, with live music and good atmosphere. At dinner times the place can get quite busy, but the service is still on top.
J. D.
The cocktails are good.. but the food was just ok, and the service wasn’t great. Our starter was forgotten, and wasn’t put through, had to go and get our own cutlery because the waitress didn’t bring any, then at about 10pm our waitress interrupted our conversation to demand we settle the tab. Such a shame, venue itself is cool but some of the staff could do with a bit of customer service training.
A. D.
Really nice atmosphere, good food and a wide range of beer and whiskey selection. I personally didn't enjoy the live music as much as my family but this is the place I'd come back if I ever visited Edinburgh again.
If I'm not mistaken the manager of the place is also one of the bartenders and was very good with his drink recommendations.
M. A. (.
Whenever I'm in Edinburgh I make it a point to come here for lunch or dinner... The place has a lot of charm, it's comfortable, the staff are friendly, it's not "touristy", and - most importantly - the food is just excellent 👌. They may not have the biggest menu, but what they have is delicious and always well prepared (I 100% recommend the Haggis Tower). It's a little on the more expensive side, but honestly we'll worth the money.
E. L.
Staff were very good, food was well presented and tasty, only disappointment was being charged for drinks we didn't order or receive. Yes it was my own fault for not checking bill at the time and I realise it was a very busy time and the staff were under pressure. I was in a hurry to pay bill before our guests could get near it. You live and learn. Yes I would recommend this place. Great atmosphere .
G. D.
Tasty food. The scottish cider was good and not to sweet. Kind and friendly service.
L. B.
It's ok. Whisky selection and bar service have gone down significantly since the last visit. Took forever to get served, weren't offered a second and then had to ask for the bill twice as we were forgotten about, despite sitting by the bar! Pretty sure we were overcharged as didn't get a receipt breakdown and all costs were not all in the whisky menu.
G. T.
We had an enjoyable lunch there, I particularly enjoyed the salmon and the pie looked great. The staff were friendly and welcoming, beers were cold and the food nice. We stayed for a few drinks after lunch but I could have easily settled in for the afternoon.
H. W.

Perfect place for some whiskey and pub grub. Great vegan haggis but you have to ask for it in a burger!

Food was good, but way to warm in the corner back where we were sitting.

Great pub and food was exceptional but the only reason I give it a 4 is because was waiting to be seated for like 10mins but it didn't seem that busy.

excellent whisky bar with hundreds to choose from and great Scottish Food
K. C.
Delicious food, nice staff, live Scottish music, lots of whiski😃❤️
M. M.
Food and drinks were amazing. Such a fun environment! The staff were great! Highly recommend trying the steak and ale pie! It was delicious!
J. B. H.
Nice location and cosy but £5.50 for a 330ml bottle of Brewdog is a little opportunitic IMHO. Brewdog is a Scottish ale costing £4.50 for four 330ml cans in more national supermarkets so feel a little sorry for our tourists. Understand profits need to be made but this is a little too much. Good selection of whisky if you have deep pockets 😋
L. H.
They do great old fashioned whiskey drinks here. But it was incredibly busy. So you might have to wait for a table. Great atmosphere thought.
E. H. (. P.
Delightful place in a good location, with nice traditional menu. Sausages with potato mash is something to grave for, though maybe some gravy or jam could have made it perfect.
It is a bar, so a smell of spilled liquor is almost everywhere, creating also the unique touch for the place.
End of the day still a nice venue, worth stopping by!
S. M.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, an extensive range of whiskeys and large food portions.
M. R.
Perfect food, nice staff.
A. P.
Tasty food ans good atmosphere :)
S. C.
Lovely restaurant with beautiful decorations, we went there for breakfast and lunch, huggies was really good, bacon in Scottish Breakfast was chewy, I don't know if the typical one is just like that, personally I prefer softer one.
I didn't try Whisky but my friend loved it very much.
I would like to go there again for dinner seems they have live music some time at night.
S. K.
Great food, but they got the order wrong initially and it felt very much like the waitress and manager (I presume), were playing off each other to get us to pay. I was happy to pay anyway, and did, but the waitress said that it wouldn't be on the bill when she brought the correct order, but the manager came to us several minutes later with the line 'I believe you don't want to pay for the meal?' A tactic to make us feel uncomfortable. I told her that I was happy to pay and that I had said no such thing and that actually the waitress said we wouldn't be billed. We were offered a free drink for our trouble. It was all done very politely, but was completely the wrong way to handle the situation. 5 star food, but 2 star customer service. What a shame!!
D. C. V.
A bit overpriced but it has a good environment. The service in the bar was a bit aggressive. The manager was in a bad mood. However the live music was good and the place is well located.
C. S.
Great whiskey! We had a "flight", including descriptions and tastings guidance. 👍 Don't take "live music every day" too literally though ....
l. o.
Delicious haggis burger, good service, great atmosphere. Slightly pricy
S. L.
Nice small bar and restaurant with whiskey tasting and good food. The staff were great and gave us a good recommendation on a whiskey to try for the first time. The sauce on the side of the steak was an extra £2 which I felt was a bit cheeky considering the price of the steak was already about 25 but it was very nice. The only negative was that there were a lot of little flies and Nats that kept flying around us and our food but we moved tables and it was a little better elsewhere.
A. M.
The food was lovely and so was their whisky cocktails. Quite pricey but the staff were lovely to talk to.
S.
The biggest selection of Scotch (of course) whiskies I've ever seen in a single place. Flights available, love music, kind bartenders, what's not to like?
D. H.
Nice people, great food, steak was one of the best I ever had........highly recommended. Later in the evening live music
R. F.
When we go to a restaurant we desire a full good experience. Food and drinks, atmosphere, ambience, service...About the food and drinks, I must say Whiski Bar & Restaurant is definitely 5 stars!!! We all order the Haggis Tower and wine. The kid's menu was good and my son enjoyed it.
However, as I said most of the visitors are looking to have a good experience. I booked a table online (August 29 at 19:15) to 4 people (my elderly mom, my sister and my 9y-old son). When I got to the restaurant, there were many empty tables, 3 tables for 4 people and 1 for 5 people. The hostess indicated a table for us just near the entrance. The door was fully opened and it was windy. So, I asked for another table...and then... the problem started!!! The hostess said she couldn't fit us in another table as all were reserved (I reserved too). Then, she decided to put us on a table for 5, she gave us the menu and told us that we had only 1h:15 min to eat as it was reserved (note that my booking was for 2 hours). I asked to change to a table of 4 as I had previously booked because I didn't want to hurry.
What an awful experience! She tried to explain that we couldn't move as 'the system' didn't allow her to make the change and that I had booked the table near the door. Nonsense as there was not an option to choose the location of the table online. After, I said if it was going to be a problem I could leave and find another restaurant, she 'agreed' that we could sit in a cosy table for 4. 15 minutes later we could experience the food that the restaurant has to offer.
note:
the table for 5 people (that she offered us to eat in 1h:15) was empty for 1 hour. Two people arrived there. 50 minutes later (when I asked the bill), one more person arrived, making it 3 people.
the table at the entrance was empty most of the time, with just people who hadn't booked sitting there for a quick drink.
conclusion: staff training and common sense would be essential to avoid this kind of problem.
M. B.
Food was fine, it was overpriced for the quantity. It felt a bit like a tourist trap, and the whiskey was pricey compared to other places.
C. Z.
The Whiski Bar!!😎👍🍺 a really place to be here. The staff is very friendly and courteous. The food is really good, fresh and identical 😋. AND respect for the whiskey and beer selection AND the live music 👍👍😎👍👍we COME back!!!
P. K.
Excellent service. Great people. Fine selection of ale and whisky. A must go if your visiting Edinburgh and definitely make it a local of you live here.
A. D.
I tried the Haggis Tower and Fish and Chips. Loved each and every part of it.
Decor: 5/5
Service: 4/5
Food quality: 4/5
R. S.
Amazing bar with amazing list of whiskeys and such a very entertaining live music!
Quite hard to get a seat before 10 PM as many people are having dinner there too, but if you come after 10 PM, it will be much easier to get a seat near the musicians.
The place closes around 1AM, so it's still fine to come after 10 PM.
It's best for whiskey lovers or people who are curious about whiskey as they have a whole book full of their whiskey list with the price. Very reccomended to chill and hangout.
S. D.
Great selection of whiskey and nice wee place to go. Love the decor!
I wouldn't recommend if you want classic cocktails as they have a limited selection.
P. M.
Great bar, great music!
K. J.
Very nice place and helpful staff. We came off the street and although it was a busy evening they managed to get us a table after a little bit of wait at the bar. We did not regret it as the food was great. Steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned, veggies were perfectly cooked and cranachan was magic.
A. M.
A second visit to the whiski bar and couldn't wait to return and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, fantastic food & drinks. The staff here are willing to go above & beyond to make anything thats not on the drinks menu, you guys make a delicious long Island ice tea and that Cullen skink chowder is perfection in a bowl , can't wait to rebook up the road from you this year , see you soon
L. W.
Very friendly service, they really know a lot of whisky and can help you get what you like. Also a nice ambiance and I experienced awesome live music.
G. C.
Beautiful pub with fun and quirky decor. The food was absolutely delicious - I highly recommend the Haggis Tower. They also have an impressive selection of whiskey to choose from. Friendly and attentive service, I couldn't have asked for more.
M. H.
Drinks and food are delicious. Great bar!
The Haggis tower is amazing if you want to have a nice meal. And the cranachan for dessert!
J. C.
Had good food and really nice service, as well as nice atmosphere. There is a wide variety of whiskies available for someone who wants to try a few different types from Scotland.
I. L.
A whisky connoisseurs idea of heaven and paradise all rolled up into one public house. The staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the abundance of different malt whiskies on the top shelf's.
The beers and food 🍲 also are of good quality and reasonable price fo a capital city.
On the whole well worth a visit.
P. G.
Fantastic traditional Scottish food . We tried the famous Huggies and very tasty sausages & mash potatoes. The beers typical from the bar (larger) . The bar is very Scottish with nice decoration. The stuff friendly.
The food amount was reasonable with the price.
X. H.
Every time I went to Edinburgh, I would like to eat steak in this restaurant. It is made of the steak which is matured in 35 days, therefore, the flavour is multiple taste. Whisky sauce is special.
F. B.
Fantastic bar and staff made some great recommendations based on things I’d previously enjoyed. Made things very happy!
M. C. V.
All the pubs in Edinburgh will have a “live music” sign out to lure tourist in. For the the whisky bar however it turned out to be quite the understatement! I sat alone at dinner in a pretty cheery atmosphere before the music started, enjoying a great chat with the most welcoming locals and waitress. Then the music started and let me tell you, non of the others pubs could even compete! A few minutes in and every single person was clapping, dancing and singing!! I think is fair to say that it was one of the best night I had in Scotland!
K. S.
Had a few traditional Scottish dishes to tick off my list. With Whiski Bar I swiftly ticked 3 of them.
Cullen Skink 9/10
Haggis With Neeps and Tatties 9/10
Cranachan 6/10
J. A.
Huge beer and whiskey selection. The fish and chips here are made with haddock and are much better than the ones I tried in London. Also at my table was the steak and ale pie. Very good!
T. Y.
Always come to Whiski when we are through from the west, as usual it was a fabulous night. Atmosphere is amazing, place is beautiful and staff are spot on. Shout out to Euan who despite being busy managed to get us a table for the music. Burgers and local beers are amazing. Will be back soon
D. F. G.
Food was good, but way to warm in the corner back where we were sitting.
M. F.
Very nice but basic restaurant. Staff were very friendly even though our food order got forgotten about for an hour. The food when it did come was lovely. We did try to get a table for the next night but they were booked out. They do the most amazing cider here called Thistly whiski cider which is cider which is matured in whisky casks which gives a wonderful smooth taste. I will definitely eat here next time i am in Edinburgh.
C.
I had a steak which was done fantastically, and my sister had a great sandwich. Good service and food. Highly recommended.
E. P.
Quality rump steak I had here, would recommend 10/10 for people looking to eat somewhere and would definitely go again.
M. T.
A wonderful place to taste Scotish whisky selection and to spend a magical evening. Very helpful service, a bartender who remebered my last night choices, and a remarkable atmosphere.
R. C.
Cracking wee stop, great whisky options and a good pint - we had a couple of the small bites & starters as a snack and they were nice. Staff really helpful and attentive
T. D.
I had the Haggis stack. Very tasty. I dined outdoors, that was atmospheric. A true delight. The streetscape in the district is what makes this place special.
S.
Authentic and typical Scottish Pub with regional food highlights like Haggis or Fish & Chips. Food is tasty. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff.
J. A.
Great place to try Scottish food and drink, great meat and an impressive whisky menu! At 10pm, a live band made a show with typical scottish music! A must do for tourists.
J. v. d. B.
Walked past on the way back to our hotel and heard people laughing cheering and singing to some absolute anthems. Atmosphere inside was phenomenal and the drinks were great to boot. Lovely selection of whisky and beer. We even went back the next day on our way to the station and enjoyed sitting on the terrace. Probably my favourite pub on the trip
B. K.
Great selection of beers and scotch.
We only sat down and had a round of drinks so we have nothing to say about the food.
Ambience was good and the people were friendly.
A. L.
Nice place for some whisky tasting and dinner. Very friendly staff. Food was good. We loved the cheese plate!
A. C.
Very very good. Don't hesitate, get the haggis (delicious) or the steak & ale pie. The fish & chips were pretty tasty, too!
M. K.
We've decided to try the haggis from the daily menu, specifically because every plate we've seen has been big and filled with food. Unfortunately, we haven't done our research properly and were left with the portion in the picture. The food was absolutely delicious, but the portion size left something to be desired, but that is probably more on us than them. I would recommend visiting, but be aware that if you're hungry, you might want to go for something other than haggis as a main dish. We were quite hungry at that point, so we were disappointed. The whisky was good, though
B. R.
Busy night when we visited and got a small table in the corner. Staff was a bit overwhelmed but manager was keeping things moving. Lots of dining and drinking competition along the royal mile but this bar has a great selection and worth a visit.
M.
Food was pretty good. We had the chicken breast burger which was juicy but needed more onion. Also tried the sticky toffee pudding which got great reviews and it was good, but no different to the many others we have tried so a bit of a let down.
Also they have a lunch menu advertised out front until 5pm but after we were seated and they had taken drink orders we were told that’s not available on weekends which the sign doesn’t say.
Usual tourist prices, £27pp for burger, drink and dessert.
Μ. Φ.
Nice place with nice folk music !
Worthy experience !
G. A.
It was very nice place! Good food! Nice and friendly staff, my fried was a bit disappointed of his stake but I was very happy with my meal! Really we will come back again!!
H. S.
This place has great food and an awesome drink selection. They offer a pretty unique scotch tasting experience that is really fun to do with friends. We had the pleasure to meet the owner of the establishment who was very down to earth and friendly. He was incredibly well informed and very articulate about the scotch we were sampling that just completed the experience. If you are a tourist this place is a well deserved addition to your plans that I felt really succeeded in introducing a piece of Scotland.
J. J.
Great place and great atmosphere. Lovely staff too 🍻
S. C.
Great choice of whisky, as you'd expect! Good service too. Quiet when we went late afternoon but live music every evening suggests it gets busier
R. G.
A good choice in Royal mile, with really tasty cuisine with traditional dishes and juicy variations, there is also a large list of whisky: really interesting the possibility of the 'whisky flights' to enjoy different kind of whiskey!
L. C.
Spent a lovely evening here whilst on holiday in Edinburgh. Food couldn't have been better; we had the haggis spring rolls with bread and butter and then the venison rump. All cooked perfectly and very high quality. Service too was faultless - massive thank you to lovely Sabina who looked after us so well today, very swift and friendly service! Looking forward to coming back soon :)
R. K.
The restaurant was delicious but more pricey than surrounding restaurants. They agreed to make her meal gluten free by omitting the seasoning from the rump steak, but they put fries on her plate which were not gluten-free.
N. M.
This was my first restaurant stop in Edinburgh & I was impressed by both the service & food. Their haggis was the first I tried and by far the best I had during the rest of my trip. Will definitely be back the next time I am in Edinburgh !!!
S. B.
Lots of Whisky choices, very loud, very crowded. Standing room at the bar only unless you have a dinner reservation which makes popping in for drinks not very do-able.
C. S.
Our favourite bar in Edinburgh, have been back several times, whiskey flights make for perfect tasting sessions with lovely food and fab live music atmosphere
A. Y.
This place is absolutely amazing! Food is tasty and there are traditional Scottish options. Haggis is my personal favourite, would highly recommend for anyone visiting! They also have a range of alcoholic beverages, and the atmosphere is very good!
C. P.
Went for drinks and music, so cannot speak on the food. The music was GREAT so if you want entertainment it's a good choice.
Cocktails, however, leave something to be desired. The drink in the photo is the Cosmopolitan. Served in a scotch glass? Which is clever, based on the name of the venue, but only comes across as a money-grab tactic as it only tasted like cranberry juice.
I had the whiskey sour which was average as whiskey sours go. For ~£18 for 2 drinks, I expected a tiny bit more. The house lager is great though, so beers are good.
Definitely AVOID if you're looking for cocktails. If you'd like beer and live music, this is a good choice.
FWIW, the Southern Bar a bit further from this place has GREAT cocktails, although a bit further from the "tourist" area.
A. R.
Great whisky selection, friendly staff, cool decor, awesome music playing. We wanted a place to try some different types of whisky in our trip to Edinburgh and this was great. Only feedback is more vegan options would be nice.
N. R.
Barring the lack of structural integrity, the haggis burger was the best burger I've had in my life
H. G.
we had a lovely meal staff were great but we were charged for 2 highland cocktails we did not have didnt notice till we got home and check the bill so be carefull before leaving check your bill at this time of year every just rushing about i understand they say we cant prove it and they cant either but be careful 20 pound a lot of money these days
B. T.
Yum?! Amazing food, it seriously ranks as one of my favourite fish & chips I've ever had, great desserts, and such friendly staff, this is a wonderful local bar/restaurant to visit if you stay in Edinburgh. It's almost easily missable on the royal mile but inside it's cozy, and has such character.
Y. U.
The food was very delicious.
The service was superb.
Staffs were so friendly.
S. B.
First time visiting and it was great! Very friendly staff, really fast service throughout, great atmosphere and delicious food and drinks all for a reasonable price.
S. L.
Very touristic, but fun! The hagis was unique, like a little alien, the whiskeys were great and the deserts were Huge and tasty. A great place to finish your tour of the castle.
R. L.
Really delicious food and a cozy restaurant!
Affordable prices on both the food and the alcohol.
Did not have to wait long for the food.
The staff is really nice and friendly.
Live music in the evenings.
L. K.
Intoxicating
great selection of whiskys and samples with tasing notes and good advice from the knowledgeable staff
D. H.
Friendly staff, excellent whiskeys, delicious food. My friend had his very first Haggis here and liked it very much. Prices are at Edinburgh's usual range. I loved my Harviestoun beer :)
J. L.
Nice pub on Royal Mile - the food was ok but not amazing for the price paid - the waitress was great and attentive.
L. W.
10/10 recommendation for the Whiski Burger. Relaxed atmosphere and great staff.
C. B.
Great atmosphere, great food and service by very friendly helpful staff. Excellent attention to COVID19 safety.
S. M.
Excellent selection of whisky and beer, nice cool atmosphere, but very busy at night. Live music sets this place apart from the plethora of pub choices 👍
G. F.
Centric and beautiful, is our second time in this place ❤️
G. R.
Good place for whisky tasting. Food is good too

The Haggis Tower Was Amazing So Yummy ..The Staff Were Very Friendly Also..Definitely Recommend A Visit ..
I. L.
Great music great atmosphere great food.
Losing a star as one of thier waiters was drunk. But they did end throwing him out.
O.
I tried the whiski burger with haggis and it was surprising delicious. We were quickly seated and the staff friendly and attentive. Would recommend to visit if you're around the area.
G. L.
Lovely atmosphere on a Saturday afternoon! Only stayed for drinks but the food did look amazing. Would definitely recommend when visiting the royal mile.
C. Z.
Good food, nice staff, good products, nothing incredible but good price for value. I'd recommend the whiskey cider for cider lover !
J. m. m.
Really liked the food and drinks and the service was excellent. A lovely pub with a lot of character and atmosphere.
S.
Came here twice during our stay, one was lunch and the other for my husband's birthday dinner, both times were excellent,
V. C.
I had a great time at this place! We were lucky to visit Edinburgh during very warm and sunny days, so we actually enjoyed a lot the deck outside. The food was delicious, I had the haggis tower and a Royal Mile to drink. The Scottish dessert was very nice as well!
P. B.
Great staff, busy bar so book, music every evening food small menu but great dishes
A. W.
Great food and an unbelievable selection of whisky. We had so much fun doing our first whisky tasting and our server gave great advice and suggestions... Fish and chips was excellent
P. B.
Massive price increase for the Edinburgh festival, £12 for 2 pints 😱 it is Royal Mile but still, don’t like to see places blatantly cashing in.
Nice pint of (reasonably priced) Guinness to start the day anyway.
Not tried the food but it does look good.
N. C.
I love it, the beef pie was absolutely delicious, the haggis as well! The service was amazing and the prices are reasonable. They have a Scottish cider called Thistly Cross that you must try!
A. N.
The food was delicious and excellent quality and it's a wee small gem of Edinburgh I would recommend it .
If you get served by lukasz as his brilliant services skills are out of the world.
I'm going to be honest with uses as I wasn't happy with glasses packed on the bar and one girl been bit extra on other stuff whilst they were working hardest she needs to understand its busy period , this is coming from someone with history with hospitality and family owning an African version of pub like this xxx
H. T.
Such a great atmosphere. Food excellent, staff very friendly. Would definitely recommend 👌
T. S. Y.
Food was great but staff wasn't that friendly and well-serviced. Not an enjoy night and won't come again
D.

Tasty drinks!

Been here quite a few times on our visits to Edinburgh. Now becoming a 'must visit' every time we come! Haggis stack main course was fantastic and Cosmo cocktail was one of the nicest around. Very friendly staff too, highly recommended.
D. L.
Great restaurant with some excellent food. The haggis spring rolls are top notch and the Cullen Skink soup alone is worth going for. The haggis is also some of the best in Edinburgh and I will definitely be back
T. C.
Very warm and welcoming bar and restaurant. The staff are very friendly and the food came fast and was of course excellent. Couldn't see the band from our seat but otherwise fantastic night
R. C.
Food brilliant. Staff friendly. Great collection of whiskey. Thoroughly enjoyed very relaxed atmosphere. Can't wait to go back.
I. S.
Great place with great customer service.
Amazing haggis tower, nice glass of whisky.
Have been there after 6pm was quiet and cosy.
Highly recommended, as I was not keen on haggis, I have to admit that was best choice. 👍
t. H.
Great place to try traditional dishes with a stunning view on the old city!
R. R.
Good food, good beer and cider choices, huge whisky selection, first place on this trip that tried to make s list of what they have, while letting you know that it does change, some rare choices available.
H. H.
Amazingly huge selection of whisky! Good vibe, live band at around 10pm. Very popular spot.
D. L.
Loved this bar!!!
Wish I had more time to spend in here but I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Edinburgh.
J. G.
Lovely food ,great service lovely atmosphere
P. M. A.
Brilliant bar , staff were excellent and the live music was the best. So glad we stopped in.
S. D.
Great Bar, staff were amazingly helpful and knowledgeable about their drinks menu. Gorgeous place too!
Seem to be managing the covid situation really well. Track and trace/menus all available via QR code, contactless payments all made for a quick and pleasant experience.
Will definitely be back when we next visit.
D. R.
If you want to feel the vibe of Scotland, you must go on Friday night here. Won't be disappointed.

Fantastic food and live Scottish folk music every night, highly recommend
L.
Nice staff! Lovely whisky menu and food with nice decoration there ;) Anyone know why haggis there look like Micky mouse?
D. K.
Great food and awesome atmosphere.
s. g.
Their sticky toffee pudding is probably one of the best desserts I've ever tried. The food here may a little more expensive but it is SO worth it
J. P.
Great haggis Neeps and Tatties... try a whisky flight to wash it all down with.
Would recommend to anyone visiting Edinburgh
E. T.
One of my favourite bars in Edinburgh. Tremendous food, lovely atmosphere and a staggeringly huge selection of whiskies. Awesome bar
A. D.
Great food, great drink and amazing toilets
P. T.
Great whisky selection and good food. The haggis tower was amazing with whisky sauce.
M. O.
Amazing food, beer and atmosphere! The staff is fantastic! I'm so happy we found it! It's a must see!
a. m.
Quite expensive for the type of food served and the servings are small which is disappointing for pub meals. Great selection of whisky at reasonable prices though if food isn't your reason for coming
S. T.
Food was really tasty! Nice atmosphere.
F. M.
Fab little place. Great atmosphere, whiskey list and the food was delicious. Staff all friendly and good at what they do. Highly recommend.
S. S.
Brilliant place. Food was delicious. Steak and burger perfect. Great atmosphere and staff very friendly
T. H.
Good food and great ambience. Amazing whiskey selection.
R. F.
We visited Whiski for a Saturday evening meal on a recent trip to Edinburgh. I went for the haggis burger which was excellent, tender, nicely-cooked burger with lovely, peppery haggis and deliciously-crunchy chips. The haggis tower which my wife ordered looked even better. Nice atmosphere, good service and an excellent range of whiskies too. Well worth a visit.
V.
Great food! One of the best pies I’ve had in a while. My friends also enjoyed every bit of food they got. A must go place!
P. W.
Nice live music show, great foods n drinks
M. W.
One of our favourite Places whilst spending a weekend in Edinburgh.
So much so, we spent two evenings here.
Beautiful Wholesome food and amazing customer service.
Big shout out to Gabby for one of the Best Irish Coffee's ever tasted.

J. W.
Live music, great selection of cocktails. And good food...
Z. G.
Excellent food and whisky. The haggis, neeps, and tatties were great. Same for the steak.
F. J.
Haggis is worth it! The selection of whiskey was mind blowing. A must visit place
A. B.
Great atmosphere and music. Proper food with big portions. Staff were friendly and quick table service.

A. D.
Lovely staff and food, the husband thoroughly his whiskey flight

Nice cozy restaurant in high street, Edinburgh. Food was good. So was cocktail. The staff were very friendly and polite inspire of it being a very busy afternoon.
I. B.

Great atmosphere.
Good drinks
Top location.
C. C.
excelent! great ambient, food, people and music, and great whiski!!
L. V. (.
Nice place for a nightcap. The whisky collection is amazing. Shots from £5 to £40. Life music is also very nice.
T. M.
Another very cool pub on the royal road. Classic and unique. Friendly staff and wifi.
E. M.
Wife had the fish and chips. Best she's ever had. I had the Whisky Burger. Very good, and could probably be shared among 2-3 people. The haggis is a whole other meat patty on the burger. Relaxed environment. Very nice.
K. H.
Went in here on the way through with a stag party, had a few drinks and the staff were off their feet, especially during covid times. But were great and made us feel welcomed!
W. C.
Food was amazing. Had the salmon in lemon cream sauce. I enjoyed the speyside whiskey flight.
M. D.
Very lively and friendly place with knowledgeable and helpful staff. Great live music but starts a little bit late. Excellent range of whiskies to try, but ask to see the list or you could get a shock as some of them are a bit pricey. We were staying just a few minutes away and this was a great place to spend a couple of hours before going back to the hotel on a night.
S. N.
One of the nicest places I have been. They have over 250+ whiskeys. The food was excellent I really loved the haggis and the spicy prawns the flavors where just perfect. The Guinness was great and there was a live band playing after we had our meal. I would recommend this place to anyone!
I. G.
What hope is there for an Irishman who doesn't like whisky in this place? Well a lot actually. House beer was good and not at London prices as I found elsewhere in Edinburgh. Very busy, but staff were serving quickly and were very friendly. Main regret was not eating there. Food looked much more appetizing than the place we'd come from.
K. C.
Sticky toffee pudding was wonderful. The steak pie looked incredible and I wish I had ordered it instead of the fish ‘n chips. The fish was fine overall, just a bit soggy on the bottom with the breading and thus made some of the fries underneath it soggy. I also prefer mushy peas with it and it was served with regular peas. Overall a good meal, I’ve just had better fish ‘n chips.
T. W.
Fantastic food, atmosphere and staff. Couldn't fault the place, the staff were friendly and did their best to seat 6 of us quickly. The food was superb if not a little over priced however given the location probably about right.
Only 1 star missing. If you are going to charge £15 for a main course it should have home cooked fresh chips not frozen.
Highly recommended.
B. D.
We don't drink, so this review is just for the superb restaurant.
The fish and chips were tasty, but not the highlight of the two trips we made here.
I also tried the steak and ale pie, which was excellent. The steak was tender, the ale gravy magnificent, and the puff pastry was perfectly prepared. No detail is overlooked.
My girlfriend ordered a sirloin steak on both visits, and it was out of this world both times. Having tried all varieties of premium, aged beef from casual restaurants on up to some of the most expensive and renowned locations, their preparation is the best either of us has eaten. We live on the west coast of the United States, but I'm tempted to move to Edinburgh just for easier access to dinner at Whiski.
11/10 - I can't say enough good things about this place. It's easily my favorite food in the British Isles!
s.
A very busy place, had some great food and service. Cocktails are amazing, some great local bands playing.
M. S.
The food was great, a huge selection of whiskeys and drinks. Great atmosphere and live music every night!! It was our first time in Edinburgh and our first Scottish meal and we weren't disapointed. Will definitely recommend and come back.
D. S.
Great drinks and fantastic food. I really love this place. The staff is friendly and helpful if you want to try something different (I recommend the « Smoky Mary »). The rump steak was the best I ever had and the dessert was incredible.
J. M.
This place is on the Royal Mile so it's convenient but a little pricey. The food was fine, service was slow but it was a friendly pub/restaurant. They have live music every night so that's a plus if you like that sorry of thing. Dinner for four with drinks was around 80 pounds. We had bangers and mash, fish and chips, steak and ale pie.
A. M.
Lovely place to relax on the Royal Mile. Great food and whiskey in a lovely old pub
W. C.
My family and I were in Edinburgh for the day and wanted to try some authentic Scottish Haggis. We came across the Whiski Bar and Restaurant and saw it on the menu outside. We were seated at a table near the bar and had a fantastic meal and some drinks. The Haggis tower, Steak and Ale Pie were superb. However, the show-stealer (according to all four of us) was definitely the sticky toffee pudding. If you don't get this, you've wasted your time. :) Location of the restaurant is on the main street but not in the most crowded portion which made it nice. Highly recommend this place.
H. D.
Gorgeous interior, nice outdoor seating on the royal mile, but massively overpriced. Just under £6 for a pint of very average cider
L. W.
The day we all arrived coincided with the fabulous Fringe Festival (a different review for that!), so we all went to Old Town Edinburgh to check out the scene and try some haggis. After striking out at a couple of other locations, we stumbled upon The Whiski - what a nice and friendly restaurant this was - and an official Fringe Festival venue as well. They seated us outside, where we could watch all that was going on with the festival and enjoy the rare sunshine. First "course" was a round of light beer, consumed in short order by our thirsty group, followed by stronger and darker IPA, which our Australian server ("you've come a long way, mate!") recommended as it "paired" well with our meal orders of haggis and freshly-caught Scottish salmon. The haggis was a revelation - I tried it with anticipation, others in our group with a little trepidation (after checking Wikipedia, which I don't think helped their cause!). The portions looked small but were dense and filling, and the sheep organ meat embedded in the oatmeal "mash" was divine - flavorful and spicy (must've simmered for hours!). I shamelessly and happily polished off what the others did not want! Our second course of baked Scottish salmon was more to the groups liking. The salmon was freshly-caught as advertised and baked perfectly, with a nice crisp to the skin. I enjoyed it, but it was a distant second to the haggis in my book.

Been to this bar twice over last few days whilst on short break
Food is delicious and good value. Bar is really welcoming and has great beers and whisky.
The staff are all really attentive and lovely the place is buzzing and they are clearly thriving under the pressure. Will definitely come again and will highly recommend . A well deserved 5 stars!
S.
Really enjoyable food and experience. Mulled Wine was way stronger/more bitter than I expected, but not bad. It was fairly busy so took some time to get the bill, but they were very nice, helpful, and accommodating especially since we came with a pram.
M. B.
Dated and dull indoors, and outdoors the tables are really wobbly. Everything was a bit grubby even the menus. Nice friendly bartenders though!
K. K.
We had breakfast at the Whiski Bar this morning. We turned up at 10.30am but were told they were opening at 11am today so we hung around the area until they opened due to the good reviews. The breakfast did not disappoint - I had the veggie breakfast which included veggie haggis and sausage and was really nice! My fiancé had the Scottish breakfast and also really enjoyed it. Shame the restaurant was empty because it was really good and the staff who served us were nice.
I. P.
Delicious Huggis y Fish&Chips!! Nice live music at night.
C. J.
The Whiski is a lovely place to drink or dine and stands out for me on the Royal Mile. We called for a drink and enjoyed it much we stayed to eat and for a couple more drinks. It has a great atmosphere, enhanced by the service that was friendly and excellent. We only had a couple of beers but there is of course scary range of whiskey to go at!
The food was good too - I wasn't sure when I got the tatty menu but the Whiski Burger and Vegi Haggis were very good. Our 4yo also enjoyed the fish and chips from the kids menu. Prices are maybe a little on the higher side but you would expect that in this location.
Recommended!
L. B.
Right on the Royal Mile. Very friendly service. Good beer options. We tried the haggis stack. Good enough we took pictures. The fish and chips were very good. The beef pie was excellent pot roast with a puff pastry lid tossed on, not a pie.
c. w.
Great restaurant and atmosphere. We chose this place from reading all the great reviews and glad we stopped in. The haggis stack and cullen skink were amazing. If you like smoked fish, it blends in very well with the cream soup. Staff is very helpful and friendly.
e.
The food is absolutely delicious and typical! The staff is professional and very friendly. The decoration of this pub is gorgeous with all the boards on the wall. Perfect for a Saturday night with the live Scottish music!
A. D.
As the name suggests, this is a great spot for whiskies. Be sure to ask them for the Whiski List which notes all they have to offer along with prices and tasting notes. The food is good and it is a very cosy setup. My one complaint about this place was that the live music did not start on time. It was advertised for 2200 on the outside, 2215 on the inside and yet when we left at 2300, it still had not begun. This may be on the part of the musician though rather than the restaurant.
f. l.
Extremely friendly staff, lovely delicious "haggis" and premium juicy and tasty Scottish medium-rare rib-eye, with light smoky whiskey, in a very warm and relaxing atmosphere. Remarkable experience and definitely would like to recommend to other friends.
M. E. D.
The food was really great. Friendly staffs and positive atmosphere ✨ 😊 highly recommended 👌
C. H.
Good atmosphere and interesting whisky. Busy and somewhat cramped when I visited.
I. W.
Great cocktails and awesome live music. Service was excellent. Loved the experience.
T. R.
Staff consistently went out of their way to accommodate us. Very good food and interesting menu (with a fair selection of Scottish food.) Good whisky and beer selection. And really good live traditional music virtually every night. Best pub on the Mile.
C. D.
Really enjoyed dining here. This was our first hot meal in Scotland. Not sure why but every restaurant we have been to has served food warm but not hot and after a cold blustery day a hot meal was needed and Whiski provided. We had the Whiski burger and the chicken with tarragon and both were so good. The chicken was perfectly cooked, the tarragon gravy the right blend of salty and savory and the potatoes were perfect. Also the seasoning on the fries is so good. Thank you for the great meal.
Also, it's a busy place, expect to wait.
L. M.
Good location, selection of drinks and the food is good. Staff friendly and helpful.
Gets very busy at peek times during summer etc, but out of season is great for locals to enjoy as well
L. H.
Good food and great drink selection but the price was surprisingly steep.
Meals are very tasty and filling but the prices are a little steep compared to surrounding places.
But the pub does have a very nice atmosphere and decor!
D. S.
My family and I had a blast visiting this restaurant while we were in town. The food is fantastic and the Scotch tasting recommendations are fantastic. It was the cheapest place we ate while in Edinburgh, while also having the best food and atmosphere. Staff was so friendly and helpful, I can't wait to come back and visit again.
J. G.
Very lively bar with friendly efficient staff & delicious whisky cocktails. Food was good... Long wait but understandable as a lot of diners constantly turning up. They don't take reservations but we waited no longer than 10 mins to be seated as fast turnover of customers. We'll stocked bar with lots of different whiskys
R. N.
Such a great place. Great haggis and amazing service. Though they seem to be always super busy, this was service par excellence. Food was great and so was their alcohol recommendation. Great live music in the nights. A complete package.
K. S.
Best haggis l've had in years, loved the creamed whisky sauce 😘
A. R.
Had an amazing meal. The staff took great care of us at all times and we had the best haggis and cullen skink we have tasted so far.
Thanks a lot for the meal.
Strongly recommend this restaurant to eat, not a bad thing to say about it.
D. M.
Absolutely amazing food. Cullen Skink was spot on, the best I've ever had! Haggis was just as good and the staff were very helpful and friendly. I will definitely be back. We waited at the bar for a table to come free as was very busy but that just added to the whole experience as the barman was a delight.
R. G.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent, really really good. We also had a whisky flight with the very helpful tasting notes
R. R.
Delicious local food and large whiskey selection! The friendly staff are the icing on the cake.
I highly recommend this warm and welcoming bar.
L. S.
Great steaks, friendly staff, good beer, good location and nice vibes! When we arrived early (at 17:45) on a sunday it was fairly quiet but by 18:15 or so, every table was full! Probably worth booking a table if you go on a busy weekend.
V. Z.
Tasty food! Nice atmosphere there. Just a bit pricey, but it's city centre, so you need to expect that prices wil be higher.
Highly recommend to try Haggis 😉👌💯
G. T.
Popped in and was immediately welcomed by Shane the barman. Very knowledgable in the dark arts of whisky. Had a great venison (early) dinner and two superb whiskies. A couple of beers too. Very friendly bar/restaurant and the staff were working their butts off with a large group that had come in and all wanted to eat. Maximum effort! Thanks.
B. M.
After a long amazing day of exploring Edinburgh we ended it with an amazing meal. My hubby and I each had the Haggis Tower. Best haggis ever! Our young daughter had fish and chips and I have never seen her eat fish like she did that evening. Wish I had taken a picture but was too busy just living the experience. Really wish we could have heard live music but our daughter isn't old enough to be in the establishment when the music starts. Completely recommend and if we ever cross the pond from Canada again, it's on our list for a return visit.
S. P.
Great decor inside. Fantastic attentive staff. Food was the best I've had for a long time.
Nice cocktails for a whisky novice.
So good that I will go back for the evening live music.
k. k.
Typical Scottish restaurant with big food portions. We were a group of 20 people and had a good local food. Tasted good and the beer was perfect. On the side street from the main road - easy to find. Can recommend
S. D.
Good restaurant. I went there specifically to try the cranachan (having had dinner elsewhere). It was Friday evening around seven pm, and I was lucky to get a table. It seemed crowded in a sweaty, cramped kind of way. There were only two waiters (neither Scottish), but surprisingly, the cranachan arrived quickly. At 7.95, it was definitely a little pricey, but the portion was large. It looked so enticing that the people at two tables turned their heads and hollered something at me. "That looks like it would go well with whisky," said someone else as they entered the restaurant. The cranachan tasted fine, but not outstanding. Recommended as a one-off experience, probably better on a weekday when it's not so crazy
Z. C.
Really good service even though they were short staffed. Delicious food and drinks, especially the cocktails.
A. R.
We experienced an exquisite variety of whiskies and tasted one of the the best haggis in Edinburgh so far.
J. v. M.
Pure tourist attraction with too high prices for what you get. Food came out way too quickly (5min). Which means it was already precooked and probably heated in the microwave. Ordered the steak pie, fish and chips and haggis. Great service though.
G. S. (.
Awesome live music, nice beers and good food
S. H.
Had lunch midweek at the end of November having just climber Arthur's Seat; lovely cosy atmosphere and very friendly staff. They were happy to accommodate our 1 year old daughter (we were turned away from a similar place). Haggis was beautiful! Would definitely come back.
L. S.
Food was delicious, music was fantastic, staff were very friendly and attentive, couldn't fault it
R. C.
Had an amazing day. Food and drinks were lovely. Made us feel so welcome. Recommend to anyone
g. c.
Shockingly good food. Each family member very pleased with food. We stopped in on a whim and expecting mediocre, received outstanding food. Steak sandwich, chicken sandwich, chicken fingers, burger, sticky toffee pudding all fantastic.
D. M.
Warm welcoming bar on the Royal mile which has a fantastic selection of Whiskys.
Live music is often available at the weekends and there is always a good atmosphere in the place.
Food is available and is a mainly Scottish pub grub but decent value for money.
It is reasonably expensive due to its location and can be a bit too touristy at certain times of the year.
d. e.
My family and I ate here to get some good local food, and it was well worth it! I started with one of their whiskey flights (4 dram tasting), and we had dinner, they had a kids menu, and the food was delicious, the beer was great, and we were there right before the nighttime crowds so we couldn't have planned it better!
o. r.
Top experience in Edinburgh: food and drinks really good and professional staff! Probabily Edinburgh's best pub. Highly recommended, but remember: this quality level has a price.
M. E. H. S.
Greatest place for those looking for a gastronomic, musical experience also taste the best whiskeys. The place offers Scottish music live every day after 10:00 PM leaving the atmosphere more cosy and festive if you are looking for good moments in Edinburgh I recommend you to know this place.
H. T.
Really good food (specially the Haggis) - the amazing Scottish band just added to the good vibe!
R. P.
Authentic Scottish food isn't 'fancy', but it's wholesome, filling, generally easy to prepare and surprisingly tasty when you realize that spices aren't commonly used... salt and pepper being the staples.
I enjoyed the steak & ale pie. I also tried a bite of the venison which was yummy. Don't forget to share a whiskey flight!
M.
Beautiful pub and warm atmosphere.... they make great food and big choice of whisky, absolutely delicious food and friendly staff, is on the Royal mile road..they do live music too...clean and tidy as well..absolutely recommended...
A. S.
Very busy, but a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Great range of whiskies available. Unfortunately we couldn't stay tonight for the live music but hope to later this week.
C. T.
Great service and food, the Rump Steak was amazing! The best I've had across Scotland.
K. H.
The pub atmosphere is fun and energetic. Food was fantastic. I had the salmon, and my husband had the fish and chips. Both tasted AMAZING!
K. C.
Classic pub food and an amazing range of whiskey. Comfortable, unfussy atmosphere
B. R.
The food was great and service was friendly . Very busy but managed to get a table . Had veg Hagis neaps and tatties with gravy. Absolutely delicious. Great variety of whiskey.
N. C.
Amazing. I didn't know so much whisky existed. Their whiskey platters (about 5 whiskies sorted by distillery) are really cost effective for trying the maximum amount of whiskey. Their hunters chicken is good too.
S. C.
The food was really good, fantastic selection of wines, whiskey, and other alcoholic drinks. Live music was fantastic! Was a little crowded, but only because it is a great place to go.
B. B.
My all-time favourite restaurant and pub. A lovely and cosy place with dedicated waiters, everyday live music, and at which you can eat exquisite Scottish specialties for a relatively modest price (some of which can be made for vegetarians !)
Their whisky menu is stunningly vast, and you'll easily find your small favourites at 4-5£, or possibly enjoy a degustation set of 4 glasses.
All in all, this place is really worth a nightly detour if you are visiting the wonderful city of Edinburgh
C. D.
Great Bar and Restaurant. If you are a bigger Group it can take some patience to be seated. But the personal will make up for it, in kindness. Fantastic live music. Definitely worth a visit!
D. K.
Food in here was delicious! Need to book.
J. M.
Not good value for money at all and not reasonably expensive but good atmosphere.
L. M.
Good location, selection of drinks and the food is good. Staff friendly and helpful.
Gets very busy at peek times during summer etc, but out of season is great for locals to enjoy as well
K. O.
Always keen to visit here when we come to Scotland.
M. S.
Great food lovely tapes 😋
R. G.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent, really really good. We also had a whisky flight with the very helpful tasting notes
G. N.
Great atmosphere and incredible variety of whiskeys
K. C.
Sticky toffee pudding was wonderful. The steak pie looked incredible and I wish I had ordered it instead of the fish ‘n chips. The fish was fine overall, just a bit soggy on the bottom with the breading and thus made some of the fries …
R. R.
Delicious local food and large whiskey selection! The friendly staff are the icing on the cake. …
M. Y.
Nice atmosphere in this well located pub on the Royal Miles. The staff is friendly and there is also live music every evening starting at 10.30pm. Would recommend it.
A. C.
Good food and good service. The manager on the day I went made sure I was happy with my drinks before charging me. Loved the live music and the decor
Z. O.
a well known bar in the town. must try their scotish ale, taste refreshing and fruity. you can also get most of the classical scottish meal here, such as huggis. live music available at 1030pm everyday
V. S.
Great food and ambience.
N. B.
Loved the highlander cocktail. Food good. Very generous portions.
B. Y.
Visited this establishment in August of 2017. Excellent pub, good food. There Guiness tap was broken or they were out, but our waittress suggested a good bottled substitute. The tee shirts that the staff wears are for sale, good quatity tee shirt.
T. M.
Staff really good food very friendly efficient and welcoming. Food and drink also good.

Cozy atmosphere, friendly and knowledgeable staff. If you want to get whiskey in Edinburgh this is great place to check out. Good food too!
J. K.
A great range of whiskys, as you'd hope and expect given the name. Also frequently has traditional live Scottish music on. Good food too, and very knowledgeable staff.
J. F.
Nice bar, great atmosphere, just don’t come her for the Pinot Noir. It is that bad it is borderline criminal.
E. S.
High quality traditional Scottish food with a good range of whiskies, served all day and live music at night. The staff is kind and nice. An exce place in Edinburgh’s heart.
M. C.
Haggis tower was amazing. Especially that whiskey cream sauce 😁
B. T.
Great meal, great drink...only suggestion is get some draught heavy in for next time. IPA is not for me so 500 choice of the same is a little unbalanced to me. The staff are great, helpful and offer great service too.
M. W.
I had their Whiski old fashioned, just so so. A long face bartender in dress shirt made the drink, he was snubbish and used a cheaper whisky than the one on menu.
S.
Delicious food and a nice atmosphere :)
A. W.
Great fun at the tasting. And the restaurant had excellent food for a reasonable price. The staff were very helpful getting us in without a reservation on a Saturday night.
M. Z.
Holy cow! Our first time in Edinburgh and we pick a gem to have our first taste of traditional Scottish cuisine. We can't wait to go back!
C. N.
Bit touristy but lovely, attentive staff. They saw to us quickly and the food was good. Good place to grab some haggis if you're visiting and in the need.
C.
Very good food, great location, nice staff busy in the afternoon but chilly atmosphere. Portions look bigger than they really are and it's extremely overpriced though.
A. N.
Good food. Big portions. Friendly staff. Convenient location
A. T.
Amazing place, nice cocktails and good prices
A. S.
Good quality food, generous portions, reasonable prices and great atmosphere. To ensure a table, make sure you arrive early, as it gets very busy.

Good quality food service 1st class highly recommended 😋
Haggis stack was great 👌

Cozy pub atmosphere. Good menu selections. The Venison and potatoes were mouth-watering and incredible!
Prices were quite reasonable and the staff were speedy and nice.
P. K.
Great comfortable atmosphere, affable staff, and diverse whisky selection. Recommend trying a whisky flight - discovered a new favourite dram I wouldn’t have even considered otherwise.
A. O.
One of the best nights out I have ever had, the staff are very friendly and helpful, the food is brilliant, the selection of whiskeys on offer is amazing, and the live music they have on every night is absolutely brilliant.
A. B.
Mediocre food and a little overpriced. Also not the best service. But the whisky list is very big!
C. S.
American Traveler. Great Haggis. Live music often it seems. Have scotch flight tasting that is solid. Fair prices. Food service till about 1030pm.
B. C.
Fantastic food, brilliant service, best waitress ever, great drinks and great live music. A night to remember. Would recommend to anyone to give it a try xxx

Nice and tastie haggis. Wonderful service and beautiful place. We had fun listening to the live Scottish music that night. A bit expensive, but it's worth it
C. Y.
My favorite trad music venue in Edi. If you hang out for a while you will probably find a seat near the performers. Chat with the tourists and have a nice evening, and maybe a taste of one of the approximately 150,000 whiskies available.
F. B.
Beautiful place, central location and outstanding staff. Food is delicious with particular and local plates based on Wisky recipes. Highly recommended if you want to try a huge variety of whiskies and good food.
E. L.
Can't believe how good the food was at this bar. Amazing selection of whiskeys, good food (including haggis), and kind and quick service. Highly recommended stop in Edinburgh.

I don't know what better, food or service :)

Vintage, amazing whiskey's and a great ambience!
C. O.
We had the haggis tower and the whiski burger and they were great! Our only complaint is they seem overpriced but it is the royal mile so I’m sure that has a lot to do with it
P. B.
Good price. Cask ale is good. Quick stop and atmosphere was good. Could have gone with the smokers not dragging smoke into area but not a deterrent
E. G.
Absolutely brilliant! Stunning little bar, friendly staff, great service and if you get chance to see The Gorms play then even better, they are fantastic!!
E. K.
Incredible atmosphere, excellent food and service!
L. B.
Great pub! We had another popular pub in mind for lunch that day but it was full so we were recommended Whiski and ended up loving it!
D. K.
Great food, beer and Whisky. With a lot of choice this restaurant and bar offers great quality food and drinks. On top of that there is live music every evening!
G. W.
Tried my first ever whiskey here, staff extremely helpful in helping me choose which to have and how to drink/sip it. Was blown away with the array of whiskeys they have for sale to suit everyone's pocket.
M. S.
Food was great but service was really slow. Also we ordered much earlier than a group of men who judt arrived but they were served first.. when we followed up, her face was like... oh fudge im not sure if i placed ur orders... what was it again? So bad.
H. J.
Get place, friendly staff ( who work really hard) , food is great (the steak and ale pie is amazing ... the gravy is awesome he . Highly recommended, though I would suggest booking as gets very busy even on a Monday !
A.
Love this place. The staff are super knowledgable about whisky and there is a great whisky and drink menu. Such a great atmosphere.
A. O.
Stunning food, magnificent service and the largest selection of Whiskies that I've ever seen.
A must visit in Edinburgh.
R. G.
I would definitely return here. The food was excellent but overpriced and the menu isn't as extensive as one might hope. The service was okay, nothing spectacular but not lacking in the basics of what you'd expect.
G. N.
Great atmosphere and incredible variety of whiskeys
L. S.
It is a traditional Scottish bar in the city center. Tried the traditional Scottish food - Haggis at this place. Food was great and the most important - the atmosphere was also great.
A. W.
Sat outside for a drink, service was excellent and reasonably priced for its location
J. M.
We sat at the bar and had a few drhnks and then got a table for food and both were excellent. Drink was a bit pricey but good fringe atmosphere
S. M.
Nice Scottish atmospheric vibe there and great drinks selection
A. F.
Haggis and bacon on a melt in your mouth burger served with a pint of Edinburgh castle beer.
G. A.
Food ok, service very very very slow
V. L.
Awesome whiskey selection, very good food. We were there during the fringe festival and things were a bit mobbed. Great location in the Royal Mile
G. A.
Very homley cosey wonderful even with snow
E. M.
Nice place to hang out for drinks and/or food. The live music sets up on the front of the bar, if it's not too busy it's a very cozy place to listen to good traditional music.
D. M.
Best sticky toffee pudding in the world!! The suggested whisky flights are incredible. Neal was very friendly and helpful.
M. W.
There are 2 locations. Restaurant, bar and tastings at Bank St. location, which is quiet and not filled with tourists. Selection of Scotch flights. Great food. Friendly.
P. H.
Nice food, wide beer and whisky selection and great live music each night, table service as well makes things really easy. Will visit again

Nice ambiance and friendly service . Live music .

This is as good a dinner as you can find around in Edinburgh, they're not famous around here for the cooking.
We had a good dinner here, for a reasonable price.
