Reviews of Windmill Farm - Dining & Carvery
N. S.
The overall experience was really good. We went for the Carvery after having multiple recommendations and it didn't disappoint. We arrived without a booking but were seated promptly. The staff were welcoming and friendly. We were placed at the far end of the restaurant close to the children's play area which worked really well for us and it kept the toddler entertained. There was a queue for the Carvery but it didn't take long at all, the chefs were really friendly as well. The food was replenished quickly and we saw staff temperature checking the meat which was reassuring. I personally felt the turkey was a little dry but overall the meal was very enjoyable.
The selection of fresh desserts and ice cream was a bonus as well, and very much enjoyed by the 1yr old (and her dad!). Being able to take the cake home sealed the deal for me 🤤 we look forward to returning soon.

The staff were wonderful and really helpful. The food was quite good especially the carvery, which had such soft, slow cooked meat slices and plenty of delicious sides. The steak we ordered, however, was a bit tough to eat. Overall an alright experience but will of course, come back again as a wide choice of food is available and the service is excellent.

5 of us came out for a meal at shirt notice. Hadn't booked, but were still quickly accommodated. Staff were happy, attentive and helpful. Especially Sean? On the bar. Food was good, and came quite quickly. A good selection of sides for the carvery. Overall, a good experience.
P. B.
I appreciate it is half term so a Thursday tea time is probably busier than normal but then staffing levels should be adjusted to accommodate this. On the whole the food was good. What let this place down was the slow service time. Our table was booked for 5pm. Main course arrived about 6pm. 25 mins wait at the till to order dessert. 35 minutes later we was told one of the desserts was not available so had to re-order. After 3 hours we finally finished our meal. So in summary, the food was good and good value for money it was just a shame the poor service let the whole experience down.

Honestly,
It’s my go to place to eat!
Go to place to sit down and have a drink!
Go to place to have a party as I did as we got married there!
I enjoy the food, lovely reasonable prices.
The staff are on the ball and want to please us!
A staff member, Chelsea is a lovely lady who just knows her job inside out, very pleasant and welcoming!
Soon as my family can meet up, there’s sometimes 20 of us, we head to Windmill Farm because we know we will be taken care of!
Kids are happy too..
Quite simply I really like Windmill Farm Lincoln!
You all do a great job 👏

Very busy for a Sunday evening but I guess that's the carvery that's so popular! We just stopped in for a quick meal on our way back down south, and spent longer than planned as we had to wait for our food, but it was decent and fairly priced. Good service and plenty of parking.
M. W.
Brilliant time, staff were very welcome and accommodating.
Food was amazing but I got a bit confused with the drinks sizing!!
Google asked for me to update the review as I'd been back - again, it was brilliant. Food was great and staff were brilliant even though it was so busy.
J. w.
Excellent service, excellent food. Friendly and welcoming staff. I'll be back. I can definitely recommend the carvery!! 😋
M. H.
Arrived at a very busy Sunday lunchtime. Had the most wonderful experience. Every member of staff was lovely, smiley and extremely helpful. The food was great value too.
Will definitely visit again!

Seems it was a bad day in the kitchen for our meals, other meals looked good and the carvery looked nice. Even though the meals were a little bit of a disaster it was resolved. The staff was lovely, the server was respectful, really nice and helpful, the manager didn't seem as happy but was pleasant. Would go back and give it another bash and try the carvery
S. T.
Went for breakfast and dinner. Was happy with breakfast but not completely happy, as now you have to pay for orange juice and apple juice. We were shocked.
We went back for dinner with family and we got a table straight away. Myself and my family member got our dinner and we were completely happy with the beef we had. My husband and the other family member had gammon and beef and to please a Irish man is hard enough but windmill didn't disappoint us. One happy Irish man:-)
One major issue was FLYING Ants at the table on the carpet. Mentioned it to the manager as we were being bitten and it sounded like the manager could of given a flying monkey.
Experience eating dinner with these flying ants 0. Dinner itself 9 out of 10.
Cleanliness of carpet 3 out of 10. Tables cleanliness 8 out of 10. We do feel that it has dropped its standards since the last time we were there 2 years ago. Would we go again, MAYBE, but depends.

We called in at Windmill Farm without booking and they got us a table for four right away. It was very busy at the time. The service was very good and friendly. A special thanks to Lilly who was very helpful. Our meal was very good and reasonably priced. Well done to all the staff. Thank you.
M. H.
Just wanted to let others know, I visited the carvery on Sunday 11th September around 5pm .was welcomed by Lewis at the door&from the word go enjoyed every minute of my visit.Lewis found me a table for my disabled wife close to door, couldn't do enough for us .The meal was hot &extremely enjoyable. Would recommend restaurant to anybody & considering I am in catering myself &very picky when eating out definitely 10/10.Thanks again to Lewis&team it was nice to see my wife's empty plate. Hope to visit again in future ..Mark

Massive portions good prices and friendly staff this is why the queues are so long. Its busy because its good value for money.
S. B.
Superfriendly place to eat with super good food. We were going there for the last 23 years and it always was great experience. Carvery is the best in UK and they offer your a box to take your leftovers with you like no other in UK. Staff is the most friendly in the world. We know that because we travel all the time.
M. A.
The place is family friendly the meals are great. Portion sizes are big. Only down side is we booked a table with wheelchair access and we got sat at the back so when we left we had to ask people to stand up and move their chairs to let us out. Maybe next time we will book a table near the door
C. W.
I had fantastic experience here, the food was fabulous and the staff very welcoming. I also noticed it was diverse and inclusive too, which is what we need in this day and age. We were served by young lesbian lady called Louis who was brilliant and made us feel really welcome.
Thankyou
H. C.
I was very impressed especially with Sophie tonight. Very welcoming and attentive service really appreciated thank you.
A special mention to Sophie to make a lovely special difference to our evening.
Reasonable prices good food and drink.
Thank you!
M. A.
Decent place. Great for families and large gatherings. Play area with arcades for children. Gambling machines for older "children". I ordered the sirloin steak medium with a house salad, the steak was tough, extra chewy, and flavourless. My wife ordered the ribeye steak with chips, onion rings, pees, and grilled tomato, her steak was also very tough and had no flavour. We ordered some cakes totake home, have not eaten them yet but they look amazing and are huge portions. We ordered an ice cream cone, banana bitterscotch, for the ride home, it was sugary, had good flavour, but has a grainy texture. During our dining experi3nce we were assaulted by flies and behind where we sat, my arm rested on it, there were plenty of dead flues and a bee or 2, area was not cleaned for a while. Probably not coming back here willingly.
s. e.
7:30p.m. already running down the carvery and not re-stocking, items missing of dinner menu, last drinks order 9:50p.m. wedding guests from hotel having to go back to the reception. Bar staff were very good though. Probably not the place to go for a leisurely drink with friends
S. S.
Super experience today, 6 adults & 2 children.
Massive choice of food including carvery.
Great childrens menu.
Great prices for all meals.
Carvery was lovely lots of choice and piping hot.
Puddings and icecream were amazing.
All staff were friendly, helpful and efficient.
A really lovely end to our holiday.
C. T.
Had no roast potatoes for the carvery.
Yorkshire pudding was like eating a block of Styrofoam.
Waited 45 minutes for desert only for a bloke to come out and say they didn't have it and that we needed to order something else.
Overall food was good but that wait time on the desert was a joke and the lack of roast potatoes was blasphemous.
B. G.
Booked a table for a Sunday Carvery & on arrival the place was packed solid even at 1215!
Shown to our table but not told about the ordering process so like lemons we waited & waited till we asked a member of staff - pay at the bar & join the queue for 25 mins.
Not my way of a Sunday family lunch. However the food was very good and you could get what you wanted - no need for dessert.
M. H.
Food is delicious, the restaurant is lovely and clean. Staff can't do enough to help you especially Louis, nothing was too much for him. Will definitely be returning. Highly recommended.
Z. L.
Food was okay, the nachos were poor but the macaroni cheese was delicious. Carvery was good also. Disappointed by how long it took the macaroni cheese to come out - took an hour from ordering when told wait time was half an hour.
Macaroni cheese was worth that wait though
D. B.
All staff were very friendly and attentive, the food was good value for money, the pudding was ma-hoosive! Easily a sharing size so I had to take half home 😄 we have been before and would go again 👍🏻
L. T.
A great place to meet a friend, quiet relaxed atmosphere to discuss personal stuff ink private. When I booked I asked for a table in a quiet corner and that's what we got. Food was excellent and service was 5*.
D. W.
Nice carvery lunch and nice pub. Just far too busy on a Sunday when we went. Couldn't fault the food or the service though. Came away feeling full too which is always a bonus 😉. 🍖🍖🍖🍖
C. D.
Great location, best value carvery and so many vegetable choices. Delicious gammons, melt in mouth. The vegetables are kept in hot plates. Staffs are very friendly.
C. O.
It was a lovely change to go to the Windmill farm today, we usually have dinner at the Toby carvery. We had the beef it was nice but a bit cheeky.plenty of vegetables options but all round we found it was a good carvery, excellent value and will be going again.
C. E.
Went there this morning for breakfast with family, after a family wedding at the weekend, to say goodbye to everyone before we all went our separate ways, all over the uk!!
Paid for breakfast, paid for top up coffees and teas, then set about getting our breakfasts!!
First of all, no fried eggs, so had to ask, but everything else was there!! Didn't take too much, as we knew we could go back!! Next thing we knew everything was cleared away, before we could get more breakfast, more tea & coffee, continental breakfast to finish off!!!! Now this would've been ok, if we had been forewarned this would happen, before they took our money, also, why weren't we told this could happen, or at least come and ask us, if anyone would like more, as 'we are about to clear the breakfast away'????!!!! I found myself going to the bar and asking for a 'top-up' coffee!!!!!!
It was lovely what we actually had, but not to be allowed to get more was outrageous!!!!!!
P. R.
Quick service to our table, ordered at the bar, had the carvery and was still hot by the time we got to our table, good friendly service, definitely going again, would advise booking in advance as gets busy.
S. W.
Amazing, friendly staff and the food was excellent. Small wait when we got there but not bad considering how busy it was.
P. W.
The meat we ordered was burnt and unbeatable, this was replaced by a meal just as burnt. The manager gave us a complete refund and a sweet boxed up to bring home.
So I suppose the visit was saved by the manager at the time.
T. P.
Had to wait approx 45 mins for main course to arrive, even though it didnt seem that busy. When food arrived my food was warm-ish, my sweet corn cob was cold where it sat on plate. My jacket potato was missing, i was going to ask where it was, but thought if it takes as long as main to arrive i won't bother. Quite dissapointing, be a while before we visit again.
S. P.
The desserts are the attraction and they live up to their name and the well worth the money you pay the same price if not cheaper than what you would in the average pub but the desert is like a whole cake on your plate
B. K.
Normally very good, but sometimes very crowded. The lack of a booking system and the hour long wait for a table and food, and no more computer games for kids made our birthday meal out less enjoyable.
D. B.
Had a carvery. Always a good choice of meat and vegetables. Only complaint is that it goes cold quick. Must eat faster 😂
B.
Great variety of foods for a fair price. Do the best carvery in Lincoln and great for family events as the food selection is great for every one in my family . Great service and very welcoming traditional English restaurant
L. A.
Fabulous food. Large portion, tast fab. Beautiful garden round the back just perfect when not comfortable to be in doors.
s. J.
Went with family for buffet breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed. All freshly cooked food and good variety. Will come back again
A. B.
Had a super meal , steak pie mashed potatoes garden peas, carrots, great value especially in current times, set me up for Lincoln half marathon next day, San Miguel was excellent
D. L.
Arrived at 12:30 and the place was full, so it's obviously very popular, but we only had to wait for 10 minutes for a table. The staff are all very polite, friendly and helpful, and the food was very good.
a. b.
Went for lunch mid week. Food was excellent and staff were friendly and approachable. Carvery very reasonably priced and was tidy and well stocked with nicely cooked fresh food. The tables were cleared promptly and re laid to a very good standard. Overall, a very pleasant experience.
C. F. H.
Quick service, polite staff, Lilly was chatty and friendly. Carvery was tasty and served with a smile and plenty to eat.
S.
I have been staying nearby for work past couple weeks and been in most evenings for my tea, always been spot on, well priced, good portions hot and tasty, staff are all brilliant, usually been served by Chelsea, Jodie and Louis they have been awesome but haven't managed to get everyones names but everybody i have had any interaction with have all been brilliant and all deserve to be praised, has often been busy and seen my a good share of Karen's when it has and always been treated in a very professional way, even when they should have been shown the door, Still in area for a few weeks yet and will keep heading down.
w. d.
Very nice place to eat.
The only criticism I ask for a small plate & was given child's plate.
Just too small.
P. S.
On this occasion my food had to be returned terribly overcooked and dry. I was offered alternative and opted for delicious carvery. Can't fault service or staff
D. L.
Very popular. Meat and food tender and tasty. Excellent portion size sweets to pick from
a. g.
Excellent service a great meal and alot of it will recommend it to our friends thank you well worth the trip
A. I.
Was greeted with courtesy and shown to our table. Service and food excellent. L
S. C.
First time trying the carvery tonight and, oh my word, it was good. Had the gammon and turkey with all the trimmings from.a choice of four roasts that also included pork and beef. My 6yo, who can be fussy about food, said it was the best food he'd ever eaten and to be fair, it was pretty much up there with some of the best roasts I've eaten, too. Then there was the pudding... a slice of white choc Baileys cheesecake that was as big as my hand. Delicious - although it defeated me and my teenager who were sharing a portion. Great value, delicious, tasty food, helpful staff, even on a busy weekend night. I'll definitely be back, with a pair of stretchy trousers on next time.
R. B.
The place was packed this afternoon and the staff were so helpful, polite and professional throughout, they didn't seem stressed, I was very impressed by them. The food was also 5 star. Very happy with our visit today, and the play area kept our little boy entertained. Brilliant staff and brilliant food. Even though it was super busy the food came out quickly and hot! Thank you
K. A.
Went to windmill farm hotel for a weekend away with my husband and was very impressed on arrival as it's a lovely looking building . We were welcomed by a lovely member of staff at the reception and after paying for our stay , we were on our way to our room . Climbing a spectacular staircase we found our room easily .
The room and its en-suite were lovely and clean and there were tea and coffee making facilities . The bed was lovely and comfy and the extra pillows I requested when booking were there on the bed for us .
The on site bar and restaurant were brilliant .... and the food was very reasonably priced with a very good menu . We had the Carvery and breakfasts , oh and not to mention the huge desserts , all of which were absolutely delicious. The staff were all so very helpful and cant do enough to help u answering any questions you might have .
Due to the Corona virus the presence of hand sanitizer is very apparent all through the hotel and restaurant.
The whole experience of staying in the hotel and eatery was very relaxed and pleasant . Its somewhere both myself and my husband would definitely recommend, and a place we will visit again .
K. W.
We had a great carvery for a great price massive portions. It was very busy but the queue was moving at a steady pace. All food was fresh and kept up with demand nothing ran out. The meat was amazing not dry at all it was gorgeous. Will deffinitely be going again and next time we will be having desert which looked incredible.
V. C.
I was slightly disappointed with my meal, we had gone on mother's Day for a carvery the kids meals was brilliant and looked really good but the carvery didn't have much choice for veg and was slow service there considering they wasn't that busy. The bar also was slow service considering they had a lot of staff walking around the floor.
I would try again to see what the main meals are like but I won't be having a carvery there again.
The little play area inside kept my two little ladies happy after dinner as well.
B. c. p. w.
Food was really nice. Beer was expensive though. An error was made by the lady who served us but the manager sorted it out very quickly and compensated us with 3 free deserts to take home
K. J.
Went for a meal here three nights in a row as we were staying at the hotel across the car park. Even on a Sunday we were seated promptly, and service was quick.
We had a carvery all three nights, due to supply issues making the rest of the menu unavailable. No complaints here, as the carvery was lovely. The meats were lovely and juicy, and there was a good selection of vegetables.
The staff were really nice, very friendly and kind. I'd definitely visit again if back in the area.
b. O.
Had Royal Mail works do last night here, cannot recommend the place enough, receptionist was great wished I’d got her name but big thank you for making sure plenty of TiaMaria behind the bar, stayed over and had the breakfast Which was great, can’t wait for next years do
H. C.
Great carvery. Beef was melt in the mouth. Nice place. Good service. Only downside was the ladies loos. No flush. Not very clean toilets and not very clean overall.
R. P.
Been going here for years!
Had a couple of bad experiences but overall apart from the couple of times it is a very good place to eat. (hence why only 4 not 5 stars)
Has a little child’s area, which is perfect for young ones and it’s free.
I would always recommend booking the table, they can get very busy.
M. W.
Always enjoy the food at The Windmill Farm restaurant however sad to say ourselves lastig two visits were well below Windmill standards.
The first was for fish and chips and had to send back any the replacement was only marginally better, we put it down to a bad day.
There second time was for breakfast, well it certainly brought back memories to me of my days in the army, the bacon was cooked about 4 or five pieces thick stuck together, the eggs looked as if they had been cooked in a solid piece and then cut up into single eggs which were the size of dove eggs.
I will still not give up on the Windmill and hope that they will address whatever has gone wrong. 🙂
B. S.
Staff were accommodating upon entry & when ordering! The premises were kept clean & presentable too. It was comfortable (being busy at the time) on a small table in between other diners! Thank you
C.
After having looked the the breakfast menu online, 6.99 for traditional and 1.99 for a drink, great, then getting charged 7.99 for a breakfast was a bit off putting, good selection for the traditional side, but the continental choice was a bit poor, 4 pastries that looked very limp and unappetising, nothing in the way of meats and cheeses, just a bit underwhelming really.
s.
Busy. But that guarantees the freshness off the food. Plenty of meat on the standard portion. And the veg very well cooked.
Also Blue Light Card discount
L. H.
Wednesday lunch time and busy. 2of us chose the carvery which was excellent, 2 had steak&ale pie plenty of veg&gravy. The cakes are mental, never had to take home before. Value for money, absolutely
J. E.
Carvery gone down hill in opinion. Veg rock hard. Last time I had a mouldy cauliflower cheese meat a bit sparce and beef grizzle and fatty. Also watched them prepare a take away. The lady just threw it all in container no presentation what's so ever looked like scraps going out to bin.
C. B.
Went on Sunday with a friend and breakfast was pretty good with plenty of choice and nice and hot. However, when we went on the following Tuesday, the quality of everything was well below average with dirty tables, missing cutlery, poorly stocked buffet, lukewarm coffee and a shortage of clean cups. My breakfast was not as good as it was on Sunday. My friend has already decided not to return (he is uber fussy about breakfast). I would have scored higher if I had only visited on Sunday. Tuesday's visit dragged the score down to a generous three.
W. D.
Had a carvery which we enjoyed at a reasonable price. Nice staff. Definitely will go again.
D. D.
2 visits Christmas eve and Christmas day. Amazing food, staff were all terrific and should give themselves a pat on the back. Will definitely be paying another visit next time i'm in Lincoln. Thanks for making Christmas special and for all your hard work.
T. M.
Was able to have a breakfast and a main! The breakfast buffet was superb and the main menu had a lot of variety to it! I would definitely go back!
K. C.
Stopped at the windmill for a carvery before and enjoyed that, thought we would give the breakfast a try, it was a buffet breakfast eat as much as you like good sized plates too, would definitely go again as the breakfast set us up for the rest of the day, big plus side is it fills you up more than Mc rip offs down the road.
R. L.
Wow, huge portions, lovely variety, great value for money, good service and friendly staff
t. b.
Staff are polite and helpful, food is decent but I don't like having to pick from a sticky menu sat at sticky tables that are infested with flies and ants. Don't think I'll be back.
N. B.
Great place to visit ,with a good carvery , not sure where the fly came from but it was very annoying , bothering not only our table but also the table nearby , Let's hope it's a one off as lm sure it is , we will definitely visit again hopefully with no fly's entering the building.
C. H.
Went with a friend for a dinner, was great, all fresh and hot, decent portion too, driving so only had soft drinks
K. C.
Had an excellent service and food was great. Enjoyed my time there as always.
r. J.
Getting a lot better now they have delt with their teething problems

I don't normally have great things to say about chain pubs but was really surprised today.
On entering the windmill farm we had a warm welcome from a member staff who explained about it being a carvery and that massive cakes display.
Once seated the menu was nice and clear with no fancy names for something simple like hunters chicken which when you look at it most places just serve you chicken, bacon and cheese which no way resembles hunters chicken.
Anyways on to the food
We started with there farmhouse sharer
It all came presented well and hot and not teped like it had been sat under a lamp for ages.
I made the mustache of ordering the farmhouse burger which as it seem was a bacon and cheese burger but served with gammon instead of bacon. Lol
I have to say one thing there portion sizes are massive. I'm 6ft 2 and struggled to finish mine and after seeing the size of cakes you get wouldn't even entertain it.
All in all if your looking for a nice friendly place to fill your boots then this is the place.
Pic is of there mixed grill under £15
I. C.
Amazing staff and amazing food carvery was fantastic very tasty definitely worth a visit when going Lincoln way
J. W.
Well first time roast dinner in a box.. absolutely delicious.. thank you for the food .. would highly recommend!!
D. M.
One of the best carvery we all really enjoyed it lovely food great staff.
D. M.
Food lovely, order staff grumpy, toilets filthy flies everywhere. I can only give the 3 stars for the chef and kitchen staff.
S. C.
Lovely friendly fast service. Will looked after and food was very tasty (and you get loads!)
a. g.
Superb, especially the black pud and bacon. One of the best breakfasts I've had for years.
R. B.
Very busy. Accommodating. Nice food and drink options. Reasonable prices
P. A.
Covid safe throughout, including the carvery buffet, all you can eat without touching a thing, all behind a screen, delicious hot food, very large portion of cheesecake, superb friendly smiley staff, nothing was too much trouble. Loved it here
s. s.
Great meals for all the family carvery for my son was amazing
S. T.
Had a lovely carvery this time but was reluctant to come back.
During seating restrictions people were put on a table next to and above us, that up until that point had a notice on not to sit there.
I put a complaint in but heard nothing.
B.
Food is excellent, marvellous selection of vegetables the staff are very friendly and helpful especially Mike I would recommend to anyone.
C. H.
Considering this place has an indoor play area of sorts with some games consoles for children, I was surprised to find a very minimal children's menu missing a number of favourites including chicken nuggets, burgers and sausages. They hadn't sold out they were just not on the menu at all. The food however was very nice and came fairly promptly. They were however slow clearing the tables and forgot 3 out of 5 desserts. Polite friendly staff.
R. W.
Amazing customer service
Huge portions
Very tasty and was offered to takeaway some extra afterwards, very kind
Will be back again and to try the buffet breakfast
C. H.
Lovely staff Lilly was especially attentive. Decent food 😋
g. m.
For the price of £6.99 for the medium carvery. Excellent price good choice of well cooked roasts, lovely selection of veg's and roast potatoes,I didn't go it feed back from mother and friends they said the Yorkshire. Pudding are the best yet we'll improved from last time , staff excellent , fully recommend
K. J.
Came here for the breakfast buffet after a night shift - great selection at a fantastic price, including refills on coffee! Would have been 5 stars but they didn't have any toast.
D. w.
Polite staff, lovely food, had to ask where drinks were but under the current circumstances could possibly have been short staffed and the puddings are still phenomenal.
R. P.
short wait but worth it food was very good was extremely busy staff were friendly and helpful too
Y. B. a. L.
I recomend, small play area indoor, seemed to keep young ones occupied even though it was small. Child menu was decent. Carvery was delicious. A lot of folk were interested in the cake display area and buying a big slice to take home with them, apparently it is the most delicious cake. Did look yum.
A. S. :. A.
Good value food. And friendly staff. With the biggest slices of cake I have ever seen!
F. M.
Great food great atmosphere 👌 staff are all lovely and helpful
J. O.
We had breakfast in there this morning ,good variety of food £7.95 for full English very tasty

Food was ok, huge portions. They had run out of fish though so couldn't actually order what we wanted. Service was quite slow, we waited over 50 minutes for our mains. Staff seemed friendly.
B. W.
Very busy on the Sunday lunchtime the 5 of us went. 2 of us had carvery and 3 chose from menu. The queue for the carvery was quickly served. Been to 4 sites in this chain and all good. Big free car park with wheelchair accessible entry and toilets. Has children's play area. Just off A46 bypass.
J. T.
Nice welcome when we arrived at the door, then shown to our table. They noted I had an allergy as I left a message on the online booking. Ordered a coffee and glass of tap water while looking at the menu. Bought a tablet for me to look at, so I could input allergy and it would select appropriate menu items. Coffee and water got lost in transit. But arrived eventually. Offered coffee on house. I ordered vegetable tart from menu and hubbies ordered carvery. Told at till to wait for my food before going to get his carvery. Half hour passed, checked with management and my tart was at the carvery and help myself to any veg. We went to carvery together, excellent choice of veg and accompaniments, good selection of meats, extremely happy with this meal, management checked all was well and sincerely apologised for any misunderstanding. Hubbies got huge piece of mint cheesecake and I got yummy vegan ice cream with strawberry sauce and two coffees compliments of the manager. We did have a lovely time in nice surroundings so would recommend a visit here. Make sure you understand the getting your food.
A. P.
Leave room for dessert as they are HUGE. Lovely food. Great staff. Super busy on a Saturday night and still great service.
G. K.
Excellent food at still a great price.
A. H.
Just had a really nice roast, all meats moist and tender and veggies well prepared and cooked well. Cheaper than cooking a roast dinner at home, can’t fault it.
S. W.
Very short staffed but great service and effort from all staff, food was delicious
S. E.
Great food. Staff hardworking and friendly
E. P.
Was ok, I had to check all the tea pots because they all needed a good scrub with a Brillo pad. Then the plates that were left had toast crumbs all over them. The front of house staff on the other hand were really nice, would do anything for you. The kitchen staff need to pull their finger out and up their cleaning regime.
V. B.
Great staff. Friendly and helpful. Family orientated atmosphere. Good menu with lots of choice. Awesome cake and coffee too.
J. R.
Lovely, friendly staff, good food too.
A. B.
Food OK but very busy and noisy
Ideal for a value sunday roast
D. K.
Great food lovely service and staff
Great value for money
S. G.
Called in today at 5pm, 17th November. Could only have the carvery as there were supply issues. Disappointed as looking forward to ham, eggs and chips but now understand this is off the menu anyway😡. BUT, Barry and I both had the standard carvery. Absolutely delicious.
Served by lovely chap Jacob who carved our meat and even put some scraps into a box for our two dogs.
Emma served us with our drinks and we told her Barry always sleeps with Emma (it is the mattress advertised on channel 4 for those with bad backs) 🤣🤣. Had a lovely glass of their Coastline Chardonnay and Barry a pint of John Smiths. Amazing value at £22+.
C. A.
Plenty of car parking with a few disabled bays, not enough in my mind really! Good level entry to the building, would advise booking a table especially weekends as it does get busy. Carvery was average and the queue for this was really unacceptable with people queuing for up to 15-20 mins! Noticed that they were doing takeaway boxes at the same time which held up the queue!
Nice place with plenty of tables but really needs to be reorganised to keep waiting times for customers down to a bare minimum!
D. K.
I normally love this place but due to delivery issues they were only doing the carvery and even that was not as successful as usual. They had run out of some of the meats and the veg was not as plentiful. Perhaps this was beyond their control but it was disappointing nonetheless
J. H.
Great food staff was lovely will definitely be going again
w. f.
Stayed for two nights. They only give you 2 sugar sachets in your tea tray which is a joke. Could have been a bit cleaner in communal areas. Food was OK, nothing more. Pretty basic but basically fine.
S. W.
Poor selection 😭😭no eggs no hot water hard toast vegan menu poor won't be visiting again
D. S.
Very nice thank you - helpful staff, excellent food, looking to stay there next visit up there
D. L.
We had a great carvery that was so popular it was depleted by the time we got there, and this was midweek.
R. P.
Visited for a mid afternoon carvery, the staff were very helpful and the food was fresh and plentiful. Great price in a clean and welcoming environment.
T.
Nothing at all special as way of food, pretty standard, although good polite staff and a clean cosy setting. Plenty of on site parking available. Prices of food and drink are affordable and reasonable, you get what you pay for.
M. B.
Carvery was well stocked and the service was excellent from the staff in the house. The deserts are totally awesome
A. W.
Food for the price was good when we eventually got it but unfortunately the service was poor. We ordered via the app as we were told by the staff it was the best way, we got our starters fairly quickly but the drinks took 20 minutes to arrive it then took 25 minutes from taking our plates away to receive our mains on 2 occasions staff approached us telling us they would tell the kitchen we were ready for our mains I don't think that actually happened, the staff were very polite & friendly.
C. S.
Stayed at hotel so ate at the windmill 1st night it was unbelievably busy food was ok. 2nd night not many in whether chef changed the food was not good A couple sat at the side of us complained said food stone cold didn't eat it and they told us other people had complained aswell . Breakfast OK but prefer it served to me .All other greene king we have been to do that !!!!!
A. M.
Great food and reasonable prices. The staff were nice too
S. T.
We only had coffee today. But the place was clean, staff freindly and efficient. We have eaten here recently and I would recommend the carvery. Well worth a visit
L. G.
Breakfast buffet was great value for money with lots to choose from. Staff were friendly and helpful and great to chat with. Definitely worth a visit.
W.
Excellent covid precautions. Lovely inside. Excellent carvery, meat was tender and tasty. Great selection of carvery vegetables. Excellent service from the chef, generous helpings of whatever you choose. Gravy was delicious, thick and hot. Pick your choices from behind the screen, chef will serve you, then carry your plate to your table.
On the other side of the coin, the grub from the menu is standard pub grub, no frills or gastronomic wonders I'm afraid. Stack burger was a bit disappointing, more a layer, than a stack. Boring, dry, floured bread roll. Would have been better on burger bun, brioche or artisan roll. Onion rings were frozen then fried. Yuk! Frozen chips, boring, measly bit of lettuce side. Homemade slaw and skin on fries would be good?
Waitress was brilliant, couldn't be more helpful when asked.
A very pleasant, quiet and relaxed atmosphere, 4pm on a Friday. Covid-19 has its upsides.
No mask required at your table, which is thoroughly disinfected, 2m apart tables. Track and trace from the Green King app. Full table service. Well done to all. You can also use the app to order and pay for your food. Note. All orders are asked to be paid for, when ordering from your table. 👏🤳👩🍳
A. C.
Carvery was lovely. Staff member helped my grandfather carry his plate to our table as he walks with a stick. Definitely return if we ever visit up here again!
S. P.
Nice pub, nice atmosphere, friendly staff! Nice carvery, not a bad choice of veg. Good value for money. Like the selection of carvery options
A. M.
Sprout's was very hard, they use frozen ones, not cooked enough
m. m.
Rang up to book table 45 mins before we came to be told booked up, but just try turning up we did just call and it was very quite loads of tables!! Poor man on carvery was on his own having to serve meat and veg all by himself, seemed very stressed but understandable!! Meal was ok. Waitress was helpful
N. W.
Food here is very good; Love the veggies! (Esp roasted parsnips) Blue Light card holders get decent discount on food only - really appreciated :) We keep going back
K. N.
Very reasonably priced and tasty carvery, friendly staff and gigantic cakes.
A. R.
Excellent food, we had the Carvery.
D. N.
Good food at very decent prices. Excellent service. The desserts are to die for!
K. S.
We had a wonderful cravey the food was great
A. K.
Great service from Jodi. The rest of the team were lovely too!
T. D.
Food, service, staff and cleanliness was 10/10. First time I've been for breakfast and will definitely go again.
L. P.
We ordered a takeaway for a treat! My husband had a Carvery which was £6.99 and was well worth the money! He really enjoyed it.
I had a hunters chicken and asked for no BBQ sauce and extra bacon and thats exactly what I got. It was just the right portion.
Deffinatley will be ordering again and popping in when we get chance!
V. C.
Had the salad bowl with chicken and bacon, it was OK but smothered in salad dressing!!! it would be better to let the diner add there own !!!
H. W.
We arrived Friday to stay in hotel. To be greeted by a warm friendly young lady along with a warm smile.
The food has been amazing, the Carvery is wonderful.
The best thing about this place is the Staff, very friendly and cannot do enough for you.
Will be back next year, with no hesitation.
Thank you, keep safe.
P. B.
First time we visited. Only dish available was the carvery. This did not matter as it was delicious and plentiful. Friendly and helpful staff. Will certainly visit again.
S. H.
Good, reasonable food and wide range on the menu
L. F.
Fabulous lunch, very good friendly helpful staff. Will be returning.
D. B.
If you are looking for a great value for your money then this is the place to eat out
G. M.
I've been there a couple of times I've had the carvery first time off the menu . Well the mucky hunters burger chips could have been better but the burger was spot on .
D. W.
Nice food, old school decor - which I loved. The staff could be a tad more polite and respectful.
D. C.
Took my 93 year old mother in law for a meal she had the carvery and really enjoyed it. As did I and my husband.
D. K.
Rating based on the carvery.
Needs a a really good deep clean.
Service was touch and go as it took repeated requests for our orders to be delivered.
Not the Birthday meal we were looking for.
S. G.
I love it hear. Friendly staff great food
H. N.
Lovely welcome staff warm and friendly nothing to much trouble very clean this also includes restaurant staff
S. H.
Excellent food and friendly helpful staff.
K. A.
The meal was OK, my husband had a combo with lusianna chicken and chicken beast and I had chicken medley which should have had colslaw with it which didn't appear and you get mushroom with and I only got four I wasn't that impressed.
H. C.
Love it here. Food is lush. Always wide range of veggies on the Carvery. Travel from Newark to eat there!
K. W.
Food nice as always, good place to bring the kids.
J. J.
Loved it. Amazing staff, amazing dinner and breakfasts served at affordable prices. Popular I believe to guest staying by the nearby Ibis. Lovely lounges and bar area. Thank you 🙂
C. H.
We have visited several times recently and have been very impressed with all the measures taken to ensure social distancing. I feel most at ease whilst dining. The staff are very friendly, and go out of their way to ensure a relaxing meal with friends. Oh, and the food is good as well!
C. M.
Had a brilliant visit, first time coming as we came away on holiday, thought we would visit as I had a greene king voucher that I can use. Very helpful from the minute off coming into the pub, asked if we could sit on the garden as it was a lovely day and also had our dog with us, we very helpful explain where 2 go and explain to us the app, which I was happy to use. Happy to see dog bowls in the garden to use as well. Drinks and food came out quiet fast, was lovely meals the only thing was chips was abit over cook but they was still nice, really enjoyed it even had a dessert as well. Will definitely be coming back when we visit Lincoln again.
R. S.
Lovely venue welcoming staff. I fully recommend the windmill to everyone
m. m.
Went on Saturday, busy, staff were great, friendly and helpful as I am in a wheel chair, but unfortunately the carvery was not very tasty. No taste in potatoes, and too much rosemary in with the pork, but the roast potatoes were very nice. Good portions of meat. But the dessert is excellent, cake slices are huge and taste wonderful. If you could put the Toby carvery in with the windmill staff and dessert you would have perfection. Great play area for kids too.
C. B.
Excellent carvery today.... at such great value...
But most of all...we would like to Thank all the staff....
From the moment we stepped in the door... our experience was professional, safe, well explained, friendly and organised....
It makes such a difference in these difficult times...
Will definitely be coming back soon. Thank you so much....🥰
N. C.
Came today 18th may 2021 with my mum, first thing this morning I think we could have even been the first guests. first time coming back and eating inside somewhere! Felt ridiculously nice! And whilst every me ever of staff we came around was incredibly amazing’ there was one woman in particular I would like to praise for going above and beyond the entire visit! We were greeted and spoken to, helped and laughed with, we had two hot drinks, went to see the hotel about a wedding and came back for breakfast, she even remembered this and came and reminded us during our meeting which was incredibly kind! She saved our table for us to come back too, and allowed us a tab! She was so friendly! So kind so helpful ! She really strives in this job, is a massive people person! And if we had a beckie to serve us in ever restaurant I would be struck for choice on where to eat! As much as I love this establishment to come and eat and have the children play, she definitely is a reason I will be coming back!
Thankyou so much!
W. W.
Went for lunch on Thursday to have the carvery. Quickly found a table for two and served at the bar. We chose the standard carvery, and other options are available. There were 3 meat options and plenty of hot veg and gravy. Good quality at a fair price. Have yet to sample desserts as usually full from a large carvery plate. Highly recommended.
D. D. B. p. s.
Limited menu due to staff shortages.
The carvery was not at all appetising. The Gammon was a definitely no no.. the potatoes dry and bland. You will get what you pay for. Stick to coffee & cake
B. S.
Since this place opened many moons ago it has been good and bad, but now it is fantastic!
The menu has lots of choice and plenty to suit everyone's taste. I have been here before and definitely have good things to say. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the tables and service throughout was impeccable and as I've said before, the menu has lots to choose from and the food itself has been very nice on every visit. I will definitely be going again in the future and look forward to sampling more of the delights on offer!!
I didn't opt for dessert, but my friend took advantage of the takeaway offer of a variety of cakes. Massive slices which even the sweetest tooth wouldn't manage in 1 sitting. Well packaged and cheaper than expected, what a super treat.... Was very much enjoyed later on.
Very good value for money too..... What more could one ask for!?!
If you're opting for going out for a meal, I recommend Windmill Farm. Give them a go and see for yourselves what I mean by a great experience!!
S. W.
Lovely Lunch. Friendly, helpful staff. Thanks to Lewis, Craig and Diane
m. g.
Definitely recommend service was excellent and the food was delicious as well ,great value .
M. L.
Stopped for breakfast and had the buffet. You can't serve yourself at the moment but the guy who served piled the plates as if you were serving yourself. Great breakfast, great value. Would highly recommend!
S. P.
Food was good, we had the carvery. Food could have been hotter but not too bad for a carvery. Service excellent.
S. M.
From the moment we turned up to book in for the night, every member of staff was polite friendly and cheerful.
We stayed for two days and had the Carvery the first evening and the food was excellent, the pudding were so large you need a serving spoon to eat it.
The waitering staff were again friendly and helpful and nothing was to much trouble.
The rooms were clean and tidy and the beds had lovely cotton sheets. Our bathroom towels were whiter than white.
And the chamber maids were lovely too.
In the morning all the staff were happy and friendly and breakfast was plenty full again the staff were excellent.
We had a lovely stay here and will be coming again.
Thank you to everyone who is part of this hotel you all made our stay wonderful.
M. S.
Very nice carvery and love the large slices of cake
P. O.
Today we had 2 carverys delivered . 100% spot on . Very well presented, loads on the plate. Meat was really thick and tasty, plenty of veg . Will definitely be ordering again. Came bang on time
B. M.
We came to the windmill about 9 months ago and have to say the service and food then was disgusting. Thought we would give it another chance last week, what a change, the staff were brilliant and the food was absalutly delicious. Can highly recommend the carvery, yum yum. Will definitely be returning very soon.
B. K.
Have been going here 4 or 5 times a year for the last 4 years now. Always finds a very warm welcome, Excellent food, cold beer and such friendly and helpful staff.
I will say it's not a place for a 'quick snack' though. The portion sizes, be it from the fixed menu or the carvery, are on the very generous side and the triple tier cakes are to die for.
D. C.
Great service at the ordering till and the person who came around asking if everything was ok. Nice food from carvery and a good choice of meats and veg. The food could be a bit warmer, one less star, but not sure if the veg would be overcooked if they would be hot. The takeaway cake is a great way to enjoy a large sweet the next day.
j. c.
We were given a space yesterday for the headshaves for Riley Clifton, the support of all the staff and nico was truly amazing, the food as always.... Delicious, thankyou so very much for allowing us to hold it there xxxx
H.
Been twice for a carvery now and it has been excellent!
Fresh vegetables, four meats which you can have one of each, and choice if plate sizes, which is great for the kids as the smaller plates ideal.
Staff are friendly and the queue for the carvery went down quick so didn't wait long.
Recommend you book if it's a Sunday and there's more than two of you.
N. A.
Great for meeting with family. Since this review I've visited again with my Grandfather in a wheel chair. It was not that easy to get his chair under the table we had. Also I visited again on a family meet up. We didn't get the table we booked. In which if you book a table you are not guaranteed to get it, but will get one somewhere near it. Also the area where there is no children under 12 actually does have children dining in it. We was lucky and had some well behaved ones near us. The food was nice.
N. W.
Excellent food, lovely safe atmosphere, delightful staff. We will definitely be returning!
C. G.
I had the standard carvery and it was amazing, our server Diane was very friendly as seemed like a very nice person, our table (32) had a nice amount of sunlight and had a clear view of the bar, desert cabinet, carvery, and exit. 10/10, would definitely go again and will definitely recommend this establishment to friends and family.
m. w.
All very covid safe. Full screens across the hot servery,so not self service anymore, made me happy and I still got a massive plateful! Waitresses/waiters/chefs/bar staff/greeter all in masks and customer service still excellent. Full table service and didn't feel rushed to leave. A good first experience coming out of lockdown. Thankyou
M. H.
Would have given 5 but we struggled to get our small carvery on the plate , the plate was so small I had to take the yorshire pudding off my plate , I'm not a big eater only had carrots and Brussels but after putting gravy on my plate it was swimming over the sides , its a nice place staff lovely but the plate size spoilt my meal
S. M.
Amazing food and a great price you should have seen the size of the plate, my gosh the carvery was to die for mmmmmmm
Multiple times and the staff looked after us very well.
Thank you
c. s.
Good value for money. Cheaper that other carvery pubs.
R. M.
Excellent food, plenty of choice, good service and the cakes wow
T. E.
Love this place
Great staff
Lovely food.
See you again soon
s. f.
Good food nice relaxed surrounding
S. M.
Fantastic lunch and very friendly and obliging staff. Highly recommend this venue. Food of an exceptionally high standard and all fresh and cooked on premises. All dishes reasonably priced. Will be certainly making this a weekly visit. Thankyou to Windmill Farm for a very enjoyable lunch and we look forward to our next visit.
T. G.
My second visit to this venue - both on a Sunday on our way back from weekends away. Both times, it was extremely busy and this latest visit meant a considerable wait for a table. However, the staff were friendly and did all they could to get us seated asap. Once seated, the food was very good from my point of view but those of us having gammon could not eat it - it was too fatty. Might I suggest that the carvery removes excess fat before serving it on the plates.
J. G.
It was excellent we will be back. Had the seafood platter
S. C.
Very good food. Carvery was very enjoyable our hostess, Rachel was brilliant
P. O.
Just called to visit family in Lincoln and needed something to eat....we weren't disappointed with what we had...we went for the carvery and it was really good... the staff were really helpful and friendly would definitely recommend a visit
S. S.
I visited here last night and I have to say it's fantastic. The staff can't do enough for you with their fast friendly service. Particular thanks are given to a lad called Cameron who politely went from table to table happily asking if more drinks were required. He even went as far as to fetch the drinks and return with a card machine to pay so that customers needn't even have to visit the bar area for more refreshments. 10/10
And I'll be returning again soon.
E. C.
Went for breakfast on Sunday it was OK at best service wasn't great a it rude
Food was luke warm and some bits like the black pudding were like frisbys 😏
T. H.
On travelling back from a weekend break away for our daughters fourth birthday ( we stayed at Grimsby) we fell upon your eatery and decided to stop to lunch. We were immediately greeted by a lovely lady of whom was wearing a face shield who withing mins had us sat at a table having explained the new procedure for the one way system etc. We were aware having already lunched at the Grimsby establishment but listened to the advice happily anyhow. We ordered four carveries and may I say how glad I am too. Those carveries were exceptionally good. Our two girls were too tired to eat their food so we opted for takeout for them but myself and my partner were very impressed with the service we received throughout our time and the food was very nice. Thankyou to all staff for their amazing consistency in making sure we were well looked after. X
L. C.
Brilliant meal, can't fault it.
Do deals for Golden Years, plus NHS discount.
Bargain for what you get. Sometimes a bit stingy with the meat, depends who is serving. Also need a bit more variety sometimes on vegetables.
I go often with friends and work, so it must be good
A. K.
Popped in for lunch on a Monday. Delighted to see they had 2 areas in the dining room, one for families and another for adults. Was quite busy but tables available in both areas. Nice menu with plenty of choice at reasonable prices. Carvery available as well. Good sized portions, we were too full for a pud. Good service as well. Would visit again.
M. W.
Lovely carvery, nice staff and even better cake. We'll be visiting again.
H. B.
Swap your sit-in McDonald's for breakfast done properly! (And cheaper!!)
We visited for breakfast. The buffet looked great, with your usual selection of pig products, beans, tomatoes and eggs done the way you want them. The continental table was groaning under the weight of cold meats, fruit, yoghurt, pastries etc... With fresh food appearing regularly, it was always piping hot and looked and smelt great.
We had gone in for their breakfast muffins though. If you're a McDonald's fan/customer and think their muffins are the best, think again!! For £2.99 your muffin is twice the size, with 2 huge hash browns and bottomless tea or coffee. The poached egg still has a runny yolk, and with 4 rashers of bacon or a giant sausage patty, you will not leave hungry!
This would've been a 5 start review but, the twice we have been they have had to remake party of our order, and it is a small safety concern. One of our party has an egg allergy so ordered their muffin with no egg. Both times it came with egg the first time, so had to be taken back and totally remade. Still, this was no problem for the staff and the mistakes were followed by genuine apologies. 4.5 stars would be fairer but you can't give that!!
P. E.
You can easily think carvery. It’s gonna be rubbish. But not here. Absolutely stunning offering on the carvery side that I actually make a point of staying nearby so I can visit this restaurant. Downside is the carvery closes at about 8pm. The restaurant menu continues and is in my experience excellent.
I had the ribeye steak off the menu and it was perfectly cooked to medium rare and the peppercorn sauce was amazing.
The selection of cakes is a cake eaters heaven. Not had one myself but they look stunning. Shame to eat them really.
Worth a visit.
M. M.
Great food, atmosphere and friendly staff. It would be nice of staff didn't take the plates from the table while someone at the table were still eating but about from that we enjoyed our meals as always.
M.
Good size family pub serving carvery and a normal main menu. Carvery was average with no real taste to the food, just more of a substance to be honest!! Also hearing the life story of the kid behind the carving deck and how he didn't want to be there wasn't great.
A. T.
New chain focused on carvery. The carvery is good value, the other meals less so but the food is good. Amazing cake selection with massive cake portions. We were too full after lunch but they offer take away with the cakes too. Worth checking out if you love carvery and cake!
8. b.
The pub is very popular but you can always find a table. Although famous for its absolutely crazy sized deserts! (Think Matilda chocolate cake on steroids), it does serve a lot more.
There is a buffet Sunday roast that seems very popular with your choice of meats and extras. The menu is quite large with a lot of choice, I’ve tried a few things and they have been nice and served quite quickly and hot. When ordering soft drinks, there’s a choice of regular, a pint or 2 pint glass!
A. D.
We went there for a family dinner and they were very accommodating for the kids who needed to eat quicker than the adults and the people who wanted Carvery compared to off the menu. Not too far out of Lincoln and it is an easy drive and therefore it makes it a nice place for a family meal. The restaurant itself has a nice interior with a lot of seating but it can therefore become quite busy very quickly.
J. F.
The food is excellent and the cakes are huge, and the place is nice and welcoming. It's reasonably priced. Access is easy from the Bypass of Lincoln, and parking is free. There is an excellent children's play area with on screen video. Prices are reasonable, and the choice of food is very good. Overall well worth the visit.
M. H.
This hotel is great! Fantastic service nice staff fab food. You really need to visit
S. -. A.
Some of the BEST customer service I have experienced! Thankyou to all staff working the evening shift on Sunday the 19th and Monday the 20th of sep! Helped sort an issue with out too good to go for us and did a fantastic job! Will be returning☺️
R. W.
Great value for money on the carvery. Could have been a little bit hotter but was still very enjoyable and great value. Customer service was great although it was a little much when the waitress sat on the bench next to us mid meal and started chatting while we were eating.
J. M.
We had a carvery on our visit and I must say it was excellent.
The staff were very friendly and no delays in service.
I can recommend a visit. You have to see the deserts they look great.
they also do a desert take away service if your too full.
J. A.
Really good carvery and reasonably priced with plenty of choice. Very busy but we got a table straight away and the Staff were really good. Lovely choice of ice cream and cake right beside the food order point which was very tempting and will definitely try next time. Overall big thumbs up 👍
E. L.
Attentive, friendly staff. Carvery was was delicious, meat cooked to perfection. Plate sizes to suit all appetites Food could have been a little warmer but this is usual with most carverys. Cakes are not to be missed, a definite bonus which can be boxed and taken away if you're full up from the main course!!
R. B.
We had our Christmas event here with the carvery. The food was good and enough of it. The table was set for a party which was very nice. The only thing slightly wrong was the time removing plates after each course and the party bits and bobs were left all evening. A good night.
L. T.
Lovely place, clean and warm. Had a nice carvery and others in the party had meals from the menu which were all good. Only criticism we had was that the pudding portions were far too big!
T. G.
Lovely food great service
C. B.
Great food lovely place to eat
S. D.
I visited here with friends for a carvery, there were four choices of meats and vegetarian options. The vegetables were varied and all delicious. When it came to desserts, well they were massive, I've never seen any portions this big you will not be disappointed. Well worth a visit.
p. r.
Great carvery, plus very good menu. Can recommend club sandwich. Staff are brilliant especially Rachel and Tom , polite and professional. I would employ them!!! Nice family atmosphere also great area for kids. Looking forward to going back.
L.
We stayed at the ibis over the road and had dinner at the windmill twice over the tine we were there. The first time we both had the carvery, which was very good value for money and was nice. The next day my husband had fish and chips. He enjoyed it and I had carvery but today the potatoes were very salty. They immediately offered me different potatoes when i mentioned it and took them off of the carvery straight away.
L. G.
Fantastic food in the restaurant and the staff were absolutely amazing!! We stayed over on 21.12.19 and the hotel were top class too!! We foolishly left some clothing in are room when we checked out but we were informed of this within an hour of leaving!! Highly recommended and we will definitely stay here again!!
S. C.
Went here with family for a meal. Appetizing meal, served with social distancing in mind from servers and how tables were positioned! Ideal venue for weddings as well!
D. J.
Not much meat left on Calvery. Only Gammon. Little fatty beef. Gammon nice and veg OK. Staff nice.
K. H.
Very good value for money 2 for one on lots in the menu. Steaks are very good and puddings are massive ( best shared).
B. E.
Lovely food, great place to meet friends, kids play area is spot on. Had such a lovely lunchtime catch up with family, little ones under five in play area totally entertained. Definitely recommend lovely staff, thanks Diana for taking care of us.

Normally it is really good, went for breakfast but this time a lot of the food had been left under the heat lamps to long. Hash browns were soggy, black pudding ended up being like paving slabs due to drying out so much and the filter coffee was tepid instead of its usual temperature. So little disappointed this time. Hopefully next till will be better.

Cant complain really. Food is what you'd expect for the price and the dessert portions are ..... well let's just say they provide cartons so you can take home what you cant eat. Make sure you book in advance as we have found it's very popular.

What a great carvery! Good selection of meats, variety of veg. Great price too. Normal menu also has a really tempting selection too... Didn't know what to choose.
Will be back again soon.

Good food, great prices, lovely portion size. Outdoor seating. Cakes galore and the carvery offers plenty of fresh options. Lots of parking spaces outside. Lovely pub to visit if your in the area.

It has recently been refurbished...looks great. We had the carvery , which is served daily. It was a fantastic meal. But be warned about the puddings. ...they are HUGE!! I shared one with my husband and we could only eat half of it. They give you a box to take the rest home with you.

The best carvery I’ve been to! The meat is so tender and well cooked and exceptional taste. The variety of veg is brilliant and the fajita new potatoes are a lovely variant on the traditional tates. Greene King on tap and massive desserts

Really nice place to eat and drink. They offer a carvery service (throughout the week), but they also serve meals to order. We've had both and it's all good quality food. The cakes though, they're something to write home about! Absolutely huge, but also absolutely delicious - consider either sharing one or using their 'Cakeaway' service, so you can give yourself a break and continue later ;)

Eaten here 3 times now..two birthday celebrations where we had 17 people and 14 people each time and not one person complained! 👍
Took my dad on 3rd visit and was just as good.
Lovely food..friendly staff and good prices.
Only thing that let it down was housekeeping..food remnants on floor and persistent fly at the table..Niko ..thankyou so much for your extra kindness re my dads 94th birthday today. You went above and beyond

Absolutely outstanding service. All of the staff were brilliant, great sense of humour despite an obviously busy & stressful evening in a packed place, our children were well catered for, we were seated promptly even though there was typically a long wait and enjoyed our meals. Thanks to Edward and the whole team for looking after us.

Lovely suite (Rm1). Staff excellent, friendly.

Excellent evening with my family, great food, no complaints at all, lovely friendly welcome and service, all the food came to the table fresh and hot, will definitely be going there again and will be happy to recommend Winmill Farm to anyone, Thankyou Windmill Farm 👏👏👍🌹

Shown to seats when arrived. Food came out quickly and was hot, nothing was dried out from being under a hot lamp. Excellent all round.

Lovely room and food and the staff couldn't be more helpful. Only negative would be how much we could hear the music at a party in the function room underneath our room. Although it did stop dead on midnight and then was very quiet. Will definitely visit again!
S. L.
Brilliant food at excellent prices. Nice pace with helpful staff

Brilliant!
This pub has had a face lift and a new name. The food is great and the portions are very good. The variety is also very good and balanced, the staff are as friendly and helpful as before. Children are well catered for and for under 5's there is a play area inside plus for older children there are crayons and activity paper.
Really enjoyed our meals and the dessert was not what I was expecting. I ordered apple pie - expecting to get the usual slice you tend to get elsewhere, but no, a FULL pie arrived!!!
Thoroughly recommend Windmill Farm to all. Better to book because it gets very busy and I am sure you won't be disappointed.

Very busy place, carvery very good value their is a choice what size carvery you want and you can allso order off the menu as well . Their is a play area and dining area for the children. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Lovely roast beef carvery. Beef was near end of joint so not so pink which is how I like it. Good selection of vegetables, well cooked. Just the roast potatoes were overdone, tough rather than crispy which is unusual in my experience.

We stopped off at Windmill Farm on the way home from the coast. Well what a great find. Food was great, better than expected. We had both the carvery and off the menu.
Food off the menu came very quick. But was amazing. Those who had the carvery said the choice of meat and veg was the best they'd seen. We will be stopping off here again on our next trip away.

Got ripped off with the cake we bought tonight, bought one last week which filled the case. No way near as big as the one on display 😠
R. H.
The food was really yummy having had the carvery. I'm so full! I would have given the other star but 2 of the staff were so grumpy! All the rest I saw serving other people though were really friendly so I think we just got the short straw.
M. C.
Spotlessly clean, great staff, spacious, breakfast buffet fabulous, food helpings generous, prices very, very competitive. Brilliant place, will go back to for carvery. And dinner 😁
K. B.
Food was good. Nice steak. Good service. We turned up 9.15pm in a group of 6 and a lot of tables said reserved dispite the late hour. If we hadn't took any notice of that we wouldn't have got a table. The others remained unused.

Went for a carvery today, food was ok good but unfortunately the lad slicing the meat had a real bad attitude. The turkey looked raw to me so I said I couldn't eat that. All he kept saying was "do you want to see my manager" "I can assure you, it's not raw" Other customers agreed it looked raw. He could have said he would change it and get someone from the kitchen to check it out. He didn't need to snatch my plate from me. Has put me off going back. Sorry guys as the rest of the staff seemed fine.

The staff were immediately friendly, guided my sister and I to a table.
Served immediately at the paypoint.
We had the carvery; beef just melted away, succulent and juicy, nice flavour, pork was good, vegetables all good, especially the cauliflower cheese and mashed potato. Lovely gravy, nice and thick.
For dessert, I chose the fruit crumble of the day with custard; it turned out to be blackcurrant, it is quite possible that it was the best crumble I have ever tasted, it was sublime, it was shared with my sister because it was quite large. My sister was also impressed with the dessert - and our mother could make a fabulous crumble.
The whole meal with drinks and a coffee was less than thirty quid - a bargain!
Plus they have a fabulous range of enormous cakes, which will require sampling - obviously without a carvery first.
Definitely coming again.

Had the mega mixed grill which was a good sized portion, and the steak was cooked how I like it which is medium. Servers and bar staff were nice and it's got a nice atmosphere with music just in the background. Will be coming back.
T. H.
Had to wait a while for a drink that was all we had prices were ok and I suppose a small wait is to be expected as these places are more family restaurants than pubs
B. S.
Food was okay for price, staff were friendly, the playground for the kids was great
P. D.
Myself and my wife visited today and we both had the carvery the food was delicious and the service was excellent I would highly recommend this place.
P. H.
Great food at good prices
J. W.
Good selection of fresh veg. Meats were tender and the added bonus of gluten free gravy. Staff very attentive and friendly. No gluten free and dairy free option for dessert but thats the norm anywhere.
K. S.
Lovely food great service Diane was lovely and couldn't do enough to make sure our visit was enjoyable will definitely be going back.

We were staying opposite so gave it a try, we were too late for the carvery however its not the best place to eat, the food looked unappetising that showed up on my wife's plate and tasted like it too. My food was in the okay bracket. The service was friendly but we will not be returning. I should have followed my instinct and ventured into Lincoln for more choice.
K. J.
Fantastic staff warm and friendly. It’s had a great makeover. Carvery served all week! Food was delicious but the desserts are out of this world! Try a homemade cake, you won’t be disappointed.
D. E.
It is standard fayre here for a dining establishment. Varied menu and lots of choice. Vegetarian foods on offer and huge cakes! Carvery comes in lots of options but is a little more expensive at weekends and bank holidays (maybe weekend meat is pricier). A nice place to go if you are in the locality with friendly staff and good service.
S. B.
Came here for a family meal tonight. Unfortunately I was served undercooked food with grease ridden sauce which I asked to be taken away, asked for it to be replaced with a carvery. No check back, no apology from any manager on duty, or anyone for that matter. And to add insult to injury, hadnt taken it off the bill. After being confronted, my food was taken off the bill, which in the end was fine. Everyone else's food was ok I must say. But my first and last visit to say the very least.

The food at this very popular, busy family friendly pub was always good, but now, despite the slightly reduced menu (Covid19 measures), is better than ever. We stayed for 3 nights at the attached Windmill Farm's Hotel (formerly the Pride of Lincoln) so got to sample several meals across the day. All were perfectly cooked, speedily served by very helpful staff and delicious. Special mention to Emma who welcomed us on our first night, explained how their Covid19 measures operated and made us very welcome. She's a credit to the establishment. On the subject of the special measures; everything has been carefully planned out, including entrance and exits, extra cleaning was evident and obvious, and we never once saw a member of staff not wearing masks etc. Well done guys, excellent job. Highly recommend their 'Cuppa & Cake" offer for £4.99... half price Mon-Wed throughout August. Beware though, the cakes are massive, I mean it, they're huge. Don't order the gigantic eclairs unless you're seriously hungry or have a season ticket for the cardiac clinic. Super recommended, will be calling in again.

There was 4 of us, we all ordered our food, clear on what we wanted. Service was good, but 2/4 meals were wrong. The food was sent back twice to the kitchen before it came out semi-ok. I had to go and pick my own lettuce from the salad bar for my burger as I felt a nuisance asking to send it back for a 3rd time, so just kept quiet. One of our meals had a hair in it, however this situation was resolved with a giant piece of cheesecake. Although this has put us off dining here anytime soon.

Food was great, busy pub, staff were lovely, highly recommend

Really nice carvery. Only issue is they never seem to do peas when we are there. I have a first husband who hates broccoli and cabbage and cauliflower. He gets sick of his carrots. I just tell him to stop being fussy. Great value.
J. T.
Amazing food. Fast cooking time. Decent prices. Really good range of main meals and puddings for gluten free diets. Impressive children's entertainment area including films and computer games.
T. W.
Terrific value for money, varied menu all at excellent prices amazing desserts.great service considering these trying times
P. M.
Staff are really friendly, happy and helpful.
The roast was cooked lovely, great selection of vegetables and they were good perfectly (al dente) but not hard.
I personally would not have the pigs in blankets again as I didn't like the taste.
The cakes/desserts are amazing.
My only criticism for such a big pub it is a shame that the Carvery serving counter isn't slightly bigger.
The Windmill Farm is great for families and a lovely, very relaxed casual dinner..
We will be visiting again.

A large table of us and it was a lovely evening, the food the service, wonderful.
Highly recommended.

We went to celebrate the wife's birthday. Staff where very friendly and food and prices were good.

Always a good meal and definately not disappointed again today. Great food, friendly helpful staff, lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend the carvery or the menu snd not forgetting the cake away
H. B.
Great prices, great service and good food choices
A. U.
Food and service both brilliant, prices very reasonable for what you get. I would recommend the smothered chicken with Diane sauce. The chocolate brownie was massive! Next time we would definitely share one between two as we both left half.
N. B.
Really great menu as well as the carvery which was one of the best ones I have had.
B. Y.
Lovely food, staff were excellent couldn't fault it to be honest 👍
P. K.
Good food good service all round pleasurable experience. There is a small playarea inside to keep the toddlers occupied whilst wsiting for their meal. Very varied menu and a 4 roast carvery. You must try the cakes,if you have room,or take it away with you
A. A.
Just had a delicious Sunday lunch. Ring your order in get a delivery slot and pay over the phone. Food brought out to the car, minimal contact. Thank you to all of the staff x
M. C.
Food was badly prepared. My steak pie was hot on the outside, stone cold on the inside, so I abandoned it. Matter ultimately dealt with well by manager otherwise would have been two stars. Very busy place. Carvery seems very popular with locals.
R. D.
Well catered for on a disabled outing..well looked after, using their function room..they loved it.
Meals (carvery) were brought to them so no problem for other diners and food was good, varied and hot...thank you for your hospitality
s. G.
It was a nice meal . Went for a dish off main menu not carvery as I fancied a different dish . Both myself and friend enjoyed the meal hot cooked well and the service was good . Choice of desserts very tempting so bought one home as full from our meal .
D. N.
Nice cheap and cheerful. Children friendly and cold beer. Cake away is awesome and could be a meal on its own. Could only give 4 stars because sometimes you feel ignored by staff, waiting for what feels like an age while they chat with each other by the coffee machine behind the bar.
