Reviews of El Vergel

Nice interior and good atmosphere. My favourites are the seafood empanadas (lovely pastry on the outside with delicious seafood and good salsa - any extras will be charged), steak sandwich with salsa (5.50 for a filling takeaway) and the cheesecake. The interior is quirky and comfortable.
Their service is really their downfall, slow when it is crowded and sometimes unresponsive too.

Great place. El Vergel is one of the most popular Latin American restaurants in London. The restaurant is delightful - classy furnished and decorated. The food is always perfectly cooked and so tasty.... The staff is attentive and the prices are reasonable. Highly recommend it.

Great little spot for lunch. Food is always fresh and tasty. They specialise in Latin American and Mediterranean food, but don't worry, we're not talking crazy fusion cuisine here, just good quality dishes from both styles.

A bit hidden away but well worth a visit. This family run restaurant is very authentic and serves good honest South American food including soft corn tacos, delicious stews and soups. The portions are generous and it's good value. They have daily specials too.

Bright and spacious on a drizzly day, El Vergel made the perfect Saturday brunch rendezvous for a South Londoner meeting an East Ender. We booked to be on the safe side but the restaurant, although busy, was not too packed. Service was sweet and efficient. Food was fresh, delicious and well presented and they even make a very decent cup of tea. We lingered into the afternoon without noticing the time pass. Worth the detour.

The food and staff are just great.
It's definitely one of my most favourite places to go eat in london. Although it's tucked away and off the beaten track it is always busy. If you are getting a sandwich make you get in made in homemade village bread. It's fantastic.
I highly recommend their amazingly delicious homemake cherry cheesecake. Every other cheesecake you have ever tried will taste pretty boring in comparison. But get in early as it sells out really quickly.

Tucked away and hidden in plain sight, El Vergel is spacious with huge windows that enables it to be bright, irrespective of the weather outside. The food is fresh and delicious, the staff are sweet and attentive, and the prices are very reasonable. The décor and the vibe of the place is wonderful too. Ideal for a lunch rendezvous in South London.

Had lunch there on a weekday. Plenty of tables available. Prompt service. Reasonable prices for the area. I had the torta mexicana; a kind of sandwich type thing which was very nice. I would recommend this place.

Came in here for breakfast one morning. It was overall pretty good. Service was okay. Given that there are quite a few of other breakfast spots nearby, I would probably pick somewhere else.
But the food was good, no question about that.

With an atmosphere that belies its humble exterior, El Vergel is bright and spacious inside, with a mixture of modern industrial effects and more traditional Latin American decorations. Attentive staff are quick to make and deliver your meals, but there isn't a huge amount of selection on the menu.

Cheap and cheerful, and the most delicious guacamole, el vergel is a regular lunchtime favourite! They have a great selection freshly squeezed exotic fruit drinks that are the perfect accompaniment to there awesome soft shell beef tacos!

Why have they gone half a size. Although lovely lunch the service is very on and off miss managed ie great order taking then gets a little unattentive or even a little rude and rusty.
It's wasn't really getting that busy and because I've not spending much as well ... why should u just trying to hurry us to go by pushing the bill to us.

Excellent food, good for a quick and inexpensive lunch. Only complaint is that the service can be slow at times, but this is usually due to how busy it is rather than lack of attentiveness.

Good restaurant - my office is near so this is one of my favorite spots for a quick lunch or just to get something for home after work. The food is amazing and always comes to me faster than expected.

A fantastic place for breakfast. We go every few weeks as a couple and have never been disappointed. I particularly recommend the Tlayuda con carne. Good coffee too.

Quite nice lunches, Mexican themed with lots of salads. Nothing extraordinary. Large interior with large tables. Nice staff, but service patchy.

Interesting take on ethnic food: Chilean.
Tapas, tacos, dips, with just a bit of optional chicken and stuff.
Probably a lot healthier than most other local options.

Great food! Lovely place for lunch or an evening meal. Was a little unsure on service but the food more than made up for it. Top stuff!
