Reviews of KIN

Love the food here! I first discovered it during lockdown when looking for something for delivery. Have been missing out for many years. Definitely recommend this place.
A. T.
Ordered as a table of 5. All food came together (starters and mains). too much to fit on the table and it got cold before we could enjoy it.
Surely better kitchen planning needed. Shame as the food when hot and fresh was tasty.
J. C.
Deco of the restaurant was really nice and trendy. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. Honestly, in terms of Asian street food, I’ve seen better in London. The presentation of the food, as you can see from the photos, are really nice, and don’t get me wrong, they are good quality food. I just don’t think they are authentic enough (and I think I can speak about authenticity since I am Asian). Nevertheless I did have a good time there!
L. W.
Great dining experience, indoor and outdoor seating available. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious, full of flavour and very generous portions!

Easy to book for the eat out deal, food still just as great, glad to be back! Got the prawn payaya salad 👌
Update: came back post pandemic and got he sea bass, delish! 💛 😋
L. P.
Great flavour and spices. There’s no ramp to enter for indoor eating but they have outside eating facilities which is okay for wheelchair user. Staff are generally helpful. Great prices and always enjoyed my meal. I would appreciate if the owner could get a ramp so that I can come back to eat indoors during the winter time.

I have been Purchasing Takeaways from Kin for Years. Loved the Various Dishes I have Sampled over the Years. The Staff are Friendly and Efficient. Highly Recommended!

Very tasty food and large portions. If you don't like spicy you can ask for your dish mild, otherwise be prepared for some heat, which luckily I love. Friendly staff and very patient for our large table. Only loses 1 star as they brought the starters after the main course, it would have been helpful to warn us this would be the case or not label them 'starters'! Otherwise definitely recommend.
B. J.
Everything about it was great. Liked the venue, friendly staff, lovely food. Good value, all so fresh. Had several small plates, a couple of salads and one noodle main to share between too. 100% would go back.

Timing 5*
Take away collection by 3 minutes at 9pm Wow! I called, then while get there, they made it.
Taste 5*
Delicious, rich, flavoured
Package 5*
Stylish recycled with chopstick and fork too.
Service 5*
Indoor eating and street tables available also. Fancy feeling and music, by friendly and professional staff!

Really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Food had good flavours and decent portion sizes. The staff were extremely friendly and made sure we were well looked after during the meal. Would definitely recommend!
V. L.
Really delicious food cooked fresh. I had a nasi goreng as good as any I've had in Malaysia or Indonesia. My companion had the pork belly special which was also excellent.
We appreciated being seated without a reservation although it then felt a bit rushed when the time came to leave as staff came at about 1 minute intervals to see if we wanted anything else. His made things a little awkward and uncomfortable. Recommended for the excellent food.
G. R.
I eat at KIN on a regular basis as my office is nearby. In the 4+ years of visiting, I have not had a bad meal.
C. A.
Kin is a must try for people in London. Outstanding Thai food. Specials are great too. I would like to see the restaurant experience/authenticity improve a bit, but the food makes me forget that. Recommended!
R. J.
Kin PB breakfast was the best vegan breakfast I've had so far! Burrito was lovely too. Staff were great
A. S.
The service here is too fast. We felt rushed to finish and our food came out immediately after drinks. Wish we had a moment to enjoy our drinks before eating. However, the food is absolutely delicious. Especially if you are a fan of spicy food, the dishes did not disappoint! Would return.
M. D.
The Khao Soi I ate was simply outstanding. The flavours in this dish were absolutely incredible! Can't wait to go back to this gem of a restaurant - South East Asia doesn't seem quite so far away now!
I. S.
Reservation is recommended as it tends to get quite busy here in the evenings. My food was gorgeous: duck springrolls to start with and Prawn Pad Thai for mains washed down nicely with a Thai beer. The staff was friendly and helpful. Lovely atmosphere and decor. Good value for money. No WiFi unfortunately.
N. k.
Great Thai. The menu is simple with 2-3 dishes per section but all done very well with just the right level of seasoning and flavour.
S. L.
The starters were ok, but nothing that special. The main was great and super filling coconut curry soup like. If wanted to, you could easily share one amongst two. It got spicier towards the bottom of the bowl so I'd recommend to mix it well before you start eating. The service was friendly and relatively quick. You have to reserve table or wait in the line as the place is quite popular.
J. C.
Delicious well presented food. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Overall a really nice dining experience
K. N.
The food is ok but not great and quite expensive for weekeday lunch. The khao soi had too muxh coconut milk to the point and it makes you bit sick towards the end. Otherwise ok, presentation of the food was nice.
K. I. D.
Went here for team lunch. Food was decent but definitely catered more to the western taste.
Friendly staff great service. Nice ambient.
R. G.
Everything from the cocktails to the food was amazing. If you enjoy Thai Food KIN is a must try
Z. N.
A little confusing about what cuisine is the specialty.
I had the prawn khao soi and Thai milk tea and both were delicious and would recommend.
Service was also great, though a bit of waiting for a table due to popularity.
Prices were not too bad either, though definitely not a cheap Asian place. It is slightly more upmarket.
S. W.
KIN never fails to deliver. The food is amazing, service top notch and atmosphere great. Their menu is vegan friendly too.
V. J.
Great pan-Asian restaurant. I sometimes come during lunch and they do take aways for £5 which are great value. This time I came after work about 6pm they were just about to get busy. The service was slow but friendly. Food was very tasty and good value for money. 4 stars in an almost-empty restaurant there were about 5 waiters and yet we had to call / stand up to get attention
T. M.
Great food served by great staff.goof sized portions. Close enough to West End to be worth the small journey , far enough away from it not to be paying West End prices.
S. M.
Good, reasonably priced good. Quick, friendly service, vibrant and no-nonsense interiors. Great place for a slap up meal and a chat. Beers were just cans brought to the table and priced high though.
J. C.
Excellent bowl of beef brisket noodles. Pad thai was OK, salt pepper squid lacked taste.
C. M.
Great quality meal and value for our family of 4. A real hidden gem. Here's our order...
Chicken Pad Thai
Tofu Pad Thai
Chicken Pad krapao (mild option)
Pork Pad krapao (mild version)
Vegetable spring rolls
Prawn crackers

I've been to KIN 3 times and loved it each time. The service is fantastic and the staff explain their Covid safety measures on arrival. The food is delicious, I particularly enjoyed the veggie wontons. My last booking was for 2 hours but we were allowed to stay much longer. I also had a query about an ingredient which I emailed after the visit and I received a speedy and helpful response. Top marks, will be back again soon!
A. O.
Beautiful food. Lovely staff too. Will be going back.

A generally good experience here. However I found the food was either too salty or too spicy, even for my friends who are SPICE KINGS!! Weirdly enough the chicken wings had zero flavour and seasoning. Service was good enough and the authenticity was on point.
S. N.
A fantastic dining experience with staff that know the menu well, and a friendly, chilled vibe. They are also great for catering for dietary requirements (I am vegan and gluten free). Would definitely recommend

Superb - the Khao Soi really is amazingly tasty. The small green papaya salad was also excellent. I’ll be visiting again!

Totally loved it! Small and inexpensive, with a fantastic noodle soup. Absolutely suggested!

The waiter was really friendly and service was very quick (which was perfect as we were in a rush to catch a train). Special of the week was delicious!

Love this place! Some of the best thai I've ever had. Suitable for vegans and vegetarians so perfect place to go when you have to cater for different dietary requirements. The staff are also super friendly.
M. S.
Fast service and good starters. Wished the noodles was spicier but the spring rolls was really good :)
J.
Super tasty food. Really well executed and authentic flavours. Not dumbed down for the majority. Definitely recommend the drunken noodles
E. D.
A highlight of Leather Lane!
H. K.
Slow service but other things like food quality and taste are good.

Amazing lunch. Sat outside (under a canopy). Shared a set (deep fried sea bass, egg fried rice, sambal pak choi. Wow. Couple of soft drinks and a desert, £43 with service. Thoroughly recommended, will definitely be back.
B. T.
Decent street food place. Tasty curries and salads, huge portions. Good value for the price. Good service.
L. I.
The food was very average and I wasn't impressed with my satay chicken, extremely dry and tasteless. The service wasnt the friendliest and we were thrown the bill before we had even finished eating. If you are looking for a safe okay meal then it will do the job but for a good impression of Thai food, I wouldn't recommend.
M. V.
They are lovely.
They really know how do their job.
The costumer service is great and also the food is good.
A touch of east london in holborn.
Approved

I had the vegetarian red curry, papaya salad and on another occasion the veg Pad Thai. All were overall really nice, but the papaya salad didn’t have much flavour, and the pad Thai could have used some more veggies and some less oil. The curry was very tasty but a bit spicy for my taste. It would be great if they could offer brown rice as an alternative option to the white rice they serve it with!

AMAZING food from across SE Asia. My partner had nasi goring; I had a special sweet n sour pork dish. Both were amazing.
Cocktails were good. Service was lovely. I also loved the books available for browsing - gave us wanderlust for going to SE Asia!

Honestly the price, flare, atmosphere and phenomenal quality of the food here make it our favourite restaurant in London. There's nothing like KIN. I can go for an evening, have 2 small plates, a main and 3 beers and spend less than £40... for that AND the bonus of it genuinely being some of the tastiest food in the city is a bonus. Real hidden gem. I recommend the thai Calamari, Chicken Potstickers, Nasi Goreng or Pad kee mao. Loads of vegan offerings too. LOVE IT
M. R.
Amazing Thai food. Often eat here at lunch times, reasonable price. Green curry is the best. There can be a long wait for a table to arrive early! Always consistent with the food quality and taste. Definitely worth 5 stars.
S. D.
Excellent food and service, nowhere in london could we get a table outside and even though they were fully booked they squeezed us in. They are also taking Covid seriously with hand gel on every table and contactless payments. Toiles also very clean
A. S.
A great Thai restaurant with an extensive side and main menu collection - including seasonal menus and lunch hour specials. Very nice vibe that is great for groups. Seating area both in the ground floor and downstairs are great for group dining and chats.
J. J.
The food was tasty and the service good but there is an important improvement to make: in the menu one of the noodle dishes is listed as having a vegan option. I ordered it but just in case mentioned I have a shellfish allergy. The waiter came back after a couple of minutes to inform me the dish (including the vegan option) contains shrimp paste. This can be a dangerous situation and I would assume vegan option has no animal ingredients at all - update the menu please!
J. C.
Delicious, fast, friendly and they were really good with the Covid protocols - I felt very safe. I had the tofu khao soi and my partner the chicken green curry; we both enjoyed our dishes.

Tasty food. Small can beer 5.50 omg fme

Genuinely good food!
Although service was so intense and rushed. Really irritating when you just want to enjoy your meal.
Booked for 5.30 mid week, not at all busy. Only two of us in the section.
Server asked us to order our main with starter when we wanted to wait and he just constantly hovered over us, didn't feel like could even carry out a conversation. We felt rushed to empty our plates so he could take them away quickly. Brought the mains when we still had starters on the table.
Felt rushed in and out of the place, we were out by 6.30 when booking clearly says tables are booked for 2 hours. Bill was incorrect in the end too which they did refund once we told them about.
K. K.
My colleagues love it, but I'm not that impressed.
It does have a quick lunch option (one of the cheapest on leather lane) - £6 for green and red curry, but I find the flavours lacking and some of the meals feel a bit too greasy.
It's good, not great.
N. V.
The staff were very attentive and the food was wonderful! I would highly recommend the Nasi Goreng and the Salt and Pepper Calamari.
M. a. D.
Great location. Lovely staff. The place lay out is great and the service good. However most of the food is far too spicy despite asking for light spice options (and being used to it): none of my four guests managed to finish.
K. G.
A nice local restaurant. However as my wife and I do not have good tolerances to spices this was not a good fit. We went for the katsu curry which we have tried at many other restaurants and have not had an issue. Sadly this was super spicy where we had to drink plenty of water to cool down our mouths. It may be an idea to introduce keys like spicy to help better the customer experience.
Sadly as a local we avoid this place and head into other restaurants that Clerkenwell has to offer.
T. J.
I think Ive posted about this place before but it is so good I just had to do it again. Honestly my most absolute favourite place in all of London and the BEST Thai food in town. If you like things spicy then ask them to make it "Thai Spicy"! It will blow your socks off!!!
B. P.
Absolutely AMAZING! The red curry and the noodles were so so so delicious!
Our waitress was very attentive! They evem gave us more curry sauce when we asked and that NEVER happens!
I would highly recommend this place.
R. S.
Very surprised at the rating this restaurant has. The service is fine and the staff are reasonably friendly so no complaints from that point. Some of the dishes were rather bland and tasteless which is the last thing you'd expect from a Thai restaurant. The noodle wonton soup was particularly disappointing. They did however remove this from the bill as we barely ate any of it. Aside from that the restaurant was incredibly hot and uncomfortable.
A. C.
Being huge fans of KIN, my husband and I wanted this to be the first restaurant we visited following lockdown. Being cautious types (I work in health and safety!), we insisted on outside seating upon booking - but we were so confident with the well-considered control measures introduced by the restaurant, we moved inside to eat. We noticed hand sanitizer bottles on each table, NHS track and trace mechanisms, PPE (including visors), contactless-digital menus and plastic shields. Contact time between staff and customers was minimised - but no less friendly - and the food? Well, there's a reason this was our first port of culinary call, and KIN did not disappoint. I recommend the tofu. Thank you for a moment of calm in these chaotic times.
a. c.
I went with a friend of mine and we shared calamari as small plate which was ok. I ordered wongon dumplings soup , my friend Singapore noodles. My dish wasn't that tasty and noodles were all tangled together, difficult to eat. My friend liked her dish but she wasn't impressed. Good location, friendly and kind staff, average price but I think you could get better quality food in other places. We didn't try the drinks.
M. T.
Delicious food, friendly staff. Me and two friends came in one evening to eat but the place was full. Instead of waiting for a table there they suggested to deliver our food to the pub next door. Amazing customer service! :)
S. I.
Was pleasantly surprised by this place, great food for a very reasonable price. Perhaps just be warned their hot dishes really are hot, which I loved but it nearly got the better of me. Service was quick and friendly too. Decor is simple but comfortable. Will definitely be heading back here some time soon.
T. R.
BEST service ever receive and food/cocktails were absolutely delicious as well. Laura has been amazing at coordinating my boyfriend's birthday. Brilliant staff, smiling and willing to help, feels like they love their job which is a rate thing in hospitality nowadays. Plenty of vegan options. Tasty and original cocktails. Will definitely come back and recommend to everyone.
L. c.
Great food always, depending on the chef for the day you might find some dishes hotter/spicy, but we like it spicy. We always just rock up for a take away and never really wait more than 10-15minutes. Or if we're feeling really lazy get a deliveroo. Food is always good. The only thing that doesn't like being contained for takeaways is the deep fried squid, always ends up a little sweaty and loses it's crunch. Our best local Thai restaurant!
E. S.
Love this place. They can tailor the dishes according to how spicy you like it, everything is so fresh and tastes so authentic. Good wine list. Everything reasonably priced. Friendly service. Highly recommend

I visited Kin twice and each time the food was good but the service was... Not great.
On my last visit, I was given a beer when I asked for a cider, my appetiser never arrived - I had to ask for it at the end of our meal.
We were 5 at our table, our mains took a long while to arrive (about 30 mimutes, on a Monday night) and did so with quite a long time between dish served.in the end we had to wait 15 ,fifteen!, minutes between the first to the last to be served. The first person was pretty much done eating by that time and we had to wait for our friend to finish.
I would had put it down to a bad night but my first visit, a year prior, was pretty much exactly the same, down to the forgotten appetiser.
I only give Kin 3 stars on account of the subpar service, especially on such basic, fundamental points as just getting an order right.
J. C.
This restaurant gets it. It understands Asian fusion and creates some amazing dishes that make me wish I lived a little bit closer. Just so I could eat here everyday.
I went for the Thai dishes and was not disappointed. Just the right level of spice and flavor and deliciousness. I can't wait to go back.
S. B.
Finally got dinner here after months of grabbing the Thai green curry takeaway bags for lunch. Didn't disappoint, really tasty Asian food at a good price. Service was a bit slow but the dishes more than made up for it. One of my favourites on leather lane.
A. D.
It's not very often a Thai restaurant in the UK takes you back to Thailand. Kin does just that. The laab gai was amazing and so were the other dishes. Service was super friendly. As soon as we mentioned my wife can't eat dairy and I have a shrimp allergy, they were so considerate in making sure we knew the dishes that were ok for us. Atmosphere was buzzy and casual. You can see why this place is so popular, it ticks all the boxes. We'll be returning.
F.
Nice tasting food that had the chilly kick of Thailand.
G. S.
Absolutely Utterly Amazing Food!
The green curry was just so full of FLAVOUR, I practically wiped my plate clean!!!
WoW!!!
Thanks for the perfect lunch...
Ur neighbour in black...😉
G. N.
The food was super tasty and fresh. It felt healthier like Authentic South East Asian food. We went Tuesday evening and it was busy then! The locals or on to something good 😉.
The starter took a little long to come but when it did it was worth the wait!
A. D.
Our favourite takeaway everrrrr!!! Great, honest service with a really friendly delivery service (their delivery times are really accurate too). We almost don't want to give them such a good review, so that it's our little secret - but it's so refreshing to get such a good take out in London we feel the need to share! Great options for me (vegan) and my husband (carnivore) which is refreshing as normally this is almost impossible. Really fresh and tasty food which is great value for money, their curries and pad thais are awesome if you like a little heat, and they're always happy to accommodate requests if you give them a call. A complete gem in the city!
D. I.
A nice enough thai place, I would recommend the chicken skewers or duck spring rolls if you are feeling really hungry. Their staff are nice and helpful but i did find my dish a bit spicy but my friends loved their dish. So if you friends love good spicy Thai they will probably love this spot!
D. P.
Having been to their street food stand when the Leather Lane market was on and very much enjoyed their food, myself and the girlfriend decided to go into the actual restaurant and we are very glad we did.
The place inside is very minimal, clean and really open, so you can see it all with ease, I assume it’d look really pretty on a night too as we went at lunch time again.
Even though it was the busiest time at lunch on Leather Lane, we managed to get a table straight away and our take in under a couple of minutes. They have a dumbwaiter to transport the food from the kitchen, so is really fast and you can also see when your food is ready.
The food was amazing, it is a style of “Asian” or “pan-Asian” whatever you call it, the dishes we had tasty, not too spicy and perfect amount for a work day lunch.
Would highly recommend it and their street stall when that’s on too, as the food was that good too.
D.
Decent Thai food. Nothing particularly remarkable, except for the fact that they make all the pairs share tables for four, and I wasn’t really in the business of making friends. Maybe would have made more sense if they had just bought tables for two when they kitted out the place? Anyway, I digress. Had a throughly reasonable pad Thai, as did the person I was with, except for the fact they made his wrong (chicken, not prawn) the first time, so he had a bit of a wait on his hands. Give it a go!
D. l.
We felt the food was tasty and the staff friendly.
One small point though, charging £3 for a can of coke served in a plastic cup is a bit expensive.
a. h.
well deserved 5 stars. Best thai place in london! Not pretentious, friendly staff and incredible food at even more incredible prices.
J. S.
Had a £5 lunch bag - generous portion of Green Thai Chicken Curry and Rice to take away for five pounds, which is pretty much the going rate on Leather Lane. Very tasty, lots of chicken. Only criticism was slightly slow service on this particular visit.
S. C.
Casual and trendy place, with friendly and helpful staff.
With the exception of the vegetable side (which was okay), the mains were delicious. Really liked the calamari starter and loved the mains! At the risk of sounding racist, it doesn't "look" like a traditional Thai / Asian restaurant but the food is definitely very authentic. Would come back and will be recommending.
Gave it 4 stars instead of 5 mainly because of the veg side and the table was a little sticky which was a little disconcerting. (Suggest wiping with soapy water as opposed to a dry cloth...)
Think it's more Thai than Chinese (as listed) on Google.
T. L.
Lasting impressions - great food, authentic, friendly owner
My experience - I met up with some friends here on a Friday evening and it was nicely busy. My friends who work in the area tell me that it's absolutely heaving during lunchtimes though - and I can see why.
The food is delicious. I had the chicken satay and the Pork Pad Krapao. The chicken satay was tender and spicy with a delicious peanut sauce. The Pork Pad Krapao promised to be comfort food and it was but it was also utterly delicious. I would highly recommend it. Our table was left with four empty plates, four very satisfied stomachs and a general agreement that it was a great place for a catch-up.
The staff were patient with us but the care and friendliness of the owner completely lifted the evening from pleasant to outstanding.
Verdict - I'll definitely go back and have already recommended it to others!
G. S.
Great and authentic South Asian food! Portions are huge, options for non spicy, mild spicy, spicy and super spicy ! The quality of the meat is also great. One of my fav cantine
D. M.
A £6 lunch deal may seem expensive though this is pretty much the going rate on Leather Lane. This does get you a generous helping of Green Thai Curry though. The rice was nice and sticky and the curry spicy. Recommended.
M. S.
The food is ok, they have a good selection of dishes and they are quick. The quality is ok, nothing special. Portions are ok, but if you like to eat a lot, you will have to get a first and main course to feel satisfied. The ambience is basic and rustic, very minimalistic. Prices are in line with most restaurants, not a cheap eat nor an expensive one. Good option if you are in the area, but I wouldn't go out of the way to try it.
