Excellent atmosphere and attentive staff. Very different type of curries etc as its Nepali based, so it was good to try this for a change. Lovely Nepali beer which we hadn't tasted before. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and will visit again.

This was our second visit to Himalayan Spice and once again it didn't disappoint. There was a slight error where my partner asked for her dish to be made mild and it wasn't, but this was quickly rectified by the kitchen and a fresh dish brought out in 7 minutes. Great friendly service and reasonable prices, especially with NHS discount (10%) We'll be back again soon 👍🏻

Beautiful cozy restaurant, they serve authentic Indian and Nepalese food, homecooked style and fresh delicious ingredients. The staff is absolutely lovely. It also happened to be my birthday, which they celebrated, such a sweet surprise! One of the best restaurants in Plymouth.

Both the food and the service were really fantastic. We were trying to find somewhere to eat and we were far too late for most places (after 10pm on a week day), but the people at Himalayan Spice were so welcoming and we didn’t feel rushed at all. All the food was really good, but the nann bread was up there with the best we’ve ever had and the king prawn purée was superb. Would highly recommend.

Exceptional food (I tried Himalayan sizzler, mixed vegetable curry, special fried rice and garlic naan). Definitely recommend the sizzler and the fried rice (probably the best fried rice I have ever had at a restaurant). Staffs are friendly and and the food is served until very late (11pm). Students get 10% off.

I have been here a few times. I love the atmosphere in here and the food is very nice, if a little inaccurate to what the menu states spice level is. I've had two chilli dishes that blew my head off, or had the same spice level as a Korma. The staff are nice, but my one consistent complaint is that we always felt pressured to get out quickly. The moment your dishes are remotely empty they're whisked away and a bill appears with no dessert, no discount negotiation, no offer if you want more drinks, and no time to breathe. I get the place is popular, but don't expect to feel welcome after you have eaten.

I travel a fair bit which means i eat out a fair bit. I s Dont leave reviews unless i am exteemely dischuffed or i am absolutely blown away. Himalayan Spice in Plymouth is by far the best eastern food establishment not just in Plymouth but in my opinion best i've had in all the places i travel to in the uk.... The food is outstanding and the staff are great. A cracking restaraunt. If you want indian / eastern food and you are in Plymouth this is a 'must go to' place!

Good food, good service and honest pricing. I took my Nepalese family to dinner there last week. The owner made special effort and instructed the kitchen staff to make sure we had authentic Nepali food. The young lady serving us was really good at her job and looked after us well. The food was good and at a reasonable price. Will definitely return if in the area again.

A beautiful ancient building in the most picturesque part of Plymouth. Inside are several small dining areas with a cosy secluded atmosphere. The staff were all brilliant and very attentive. The food was amazing. Everything freshly cooked with their own unique recipes. Generous portions too. Absolutely the best Asian meal I have ever eaten, no exaggeration! For us it was a romantic occasion so I contacted the restaurant the day before and asked for a rose for our table. They brought us a big vase full of beautiful fresh roses and didn't even charge for it, absolutely exceptional! Shall definitely be going back soon!

Incredible food with a lovely homely feel!! Me, my partner and some friends came for a meal a week ago and found it absolutely beautiful! The food was very tasty with good vegan options and the atmosphere made it very enjoyable to eat at! The Cobra on tap also complimented the food perfectly, we were all gutted they didn't have the over tap available but it will hopeful be back for the next time we return! I will definitely be returning for a dinner date next time!

Good selection of Himalayan and Indian food to cater for most tastes. Potions are good and all served fresh. The front of house is a Elizabethan room full of wood beams and old world charm. The back of house has More room and better lighting. It's one of my go to eateries and we use it for birthdays and other special occasion meals out.

An historic Elizabethan old Tavern turned into a curry house 14 years ago, I personally prefer it to be a Tavern still but as curry house in the oldest street in Plymouth it was a lovely setting, not sure of some of non Tudor pictures of Nepal adoring the walls as it is not in keeping with the building, but the food was amazing one of best I have tried. Tasty well cooked chilli chicken and lemon rice, shared mixed kebab for two, other dishes of curry wine and beer, for the four of us £87. Excellent value for money. Staff polite, but knew nothing of the history of where they worked which I found strange. Recommended though. Very good food.

Lovely restaurant with excellent food and helpful staff. My advice would be to have a dish with homemade sauce rather than an ''English dish'. The one I had was delicious and they recommend the special fried rice to go with it. I have never had an Indian/Nepalese special fried rice, it was excellent. Amazing food (the lamb dhansak is the best I've had in years!!), the everest is a lovely pint to compliment the food, the service is spot on, attentive and there when you need them but not overbearing by any means (always a sign that somewhere is doing things right). The service was ok, although the waiter was lacking a sense of humour. It took a while for the food to arrive even though it wasn't overly busy. All dishes were good, even the vegetarian options, but nothing really fantastic and when you look at the prices, you kind of expected that it would be. The restaurant was cold, both times. I ended up eating with my jacket on. I think there are other Indian restaurants that provide better service and better food with a more reasonably priced menu.

Be assured that this restaurant surpasses all others that we have visited recently. The food was exquisite, plentiful and each of the dishes was served at the right temperatures and at the right times. Lowered my previous 4 star rating as food was a bit of let down during a more recent visit. Its disappointing when restaurants aren't consistent. Previous visit: Decent food, one of the nicest curries I've had. Shame the service let it down a little but overall a pleasant experience. It's quite small as it's in an old building so getting a table during busy spots may be a challenge. Extra tip... it's worth trying the Himalayan lager they have on draft, very refreshing and in my opinion better than Cobra.

Despite living in Devon for nearly 20 years we have only just found this place and it is the best Indian/Nepalese we have had in Devon. Staff are so friendly and understand about allergies (first time I have had an Indian where my allergy - cucumber- has not appeared on one of the dishes) Some lovely dishes and I thoroughly enjoyed the one recommended by the manager of king prawn sag although all the food was beautifully cooked and presented. Definitely got the taste buds going and nice to see their mild/medium/hot guide was accurate. Have now visited twice in 10 days and will be going back bringing others with us. A very enjoyable experience that we will be repeating. The online table booking system made it so easy to book (and meant I could book it after our pub closed at midnight!)

Great food and value for money. I visited this restaurant due to the positive Google reviews and I am glad I did.. I had the Lamb Katmandu which the owner came out to explain how it was cooked, as the waitress was new. The owner seemed to think I'd been here before, but I explained that I was on business and it was my first time here. He returned after my food had been served to check if all was ok and our dialogue continued, as he was sure he knew my face. Long and short, in our conversation I explained where I live now and that I once lived in Middlesex. I advised of the town and he then said my name, penny dropped that he used to manage a local restaurant over 12 years ago in Stanmore, near where I used to live. I know this is not really relevant to the review, but an amazing story nevertheless. ☺ I will definitely be returning to this restaurant on my next business trip. Give it a try!!

I love going to this restaurant. The food, atmosphere and staff are wonderful. It's an old building with lots of character so be prepared for some low ceilings, narrow stairs and pokey corners in places. A couple of years ago I went to the Himalayan Spice for a charity banquet, organised by a friend. We got to try out a whole range of dishes and it was a surperb evening. I've also been on other seperate occasions and the food etc was equally good. It's clear that the staff take real pride in their work and love to show case their food as well as being warmly hospitable.

Don't let this place deceive you, the name Himalayan Slice implies that they have taken some of the actual Himalayas and served them up with some spice. As we all know this is clearly impossible. The only edible mountain chain is obviously the Alps, where the he'll do you think Swiss cheese come from. You're seriously telling me you turned a mountain into a curry!
