P. S.
The row of red public telephone boxes along Preston's Market Street is the longest continuous row of the old style kiosks anywhere in the country. They were designed by Giles Gilbert Scott who also designed Preston’s war memorial on the Flag Market. The Phone boxes also have a twitter account!

POSSIBLY THE MOST FUN YOU CAN HAVE WITH YOUR CLOTHES ON
In 1935 the K6 telephone kiosk was designed to commemorate the silver jubilee of King George V. It was consequently sometimes known as the "Jubilee" kiosk. It went into production in 1936. Many thousands were deployed overnight in a campaign that rivalled the D-Day landings leaving virtually every town and city full of the 3 foot by 3 foot ref buildings
By 1935 there had been 19,000 public telephones in the UK all thanks to the humble K6.
Of course the K6 kiosks in Preston form part of a unique collection of the longest lines of red K6 phone boxes in the UK and example sport both the Tudor crown and the St Edwards Crown from Elizabeth II's reign.
it is however a little known fact that the lone kiosk nearest the market was a secret gateway to Narnia. By dialling a special number the side wall of the kiosk opened and the user could enter a land of snow and fantasy. On Friday nights the Snow queen was known to slip through herself and enjoy a swift pint down the Black Horse ( the only pub in England with a door on three separate streets) before journeying on to Squires for a night dancing.

One of the most phonebox-like phoneboxes that Preston has to offer. Rates amongst the best tourist attractions of the city.

He is a really nice phone box, and always buys people a pint. Not much room to get changed in though.
