C. E.I went on the off chance last Friday for a few bits and bobs after being unable to contact them by phone. The woman who served me was extremely helpful but unfortunately the items where out of stock she did however show me how to check stock online thereby avoiding another wasted trip. After telling me the items would arrive on Tuesday because of the Bank Holiday they arrived on Saturday. As a result my car was up and running in time for the bank holiday.

M. R.Since the demise of Maplin, RS in Watford has been my nearest source of electronic components. I'd never liked Maplin much; most of the sales staff were youngsters with little or no knowledge of what they were selling, and customer service was very poor; you could be watiting at the counter for ages while the sales staff were chatting with each other somehere else, and they would even walk straight past you while you were waiting there without acknowledeging your presence, let alone serving you. More than that, you had to endure mind-numbing pop music while you were browsing the products. Notwithstanding that, they always had one person whose only task was to stand by the door and said ''good morning' or 'good afternoon' to everyone who came in. However, they had a reasonable stock of components so I put up with it.
Visting RS was a real revelation. Their stock is far wider than Maplin's, and the staff at the counter are smart, professional, courteous, efficient and very friendly. What's more, they all know about what they are selling. I've been there several times since Maplin closed down and I should have started going there long before that. And despite the comments of another reviewer in this thread, the prices are very reasonable indeed - far more so than Maplin's! On the odd occasion that an item was not in stock, they would have it in by 7:00 am the next day or offer to post it - which was fine by me. Highly recommended.
