Reviews of Knockbreda Parish Church

Beyond the fast traffic and grotesque structure of an overbearing shopping centre, lives a historical beauty, politely remembering the community of Knockbreda. Thankfully time has hidden the world from the resting place of persons long gone and the hedging has been a Protector from the expansion of Belfast.
The cemetery is a beautiful place where traffic is a distant murmur and the views of Belfast can be found, if looking.
Very clean and tidy whilst maintaining an antiquity of headstones and mausoleum that carry no tackiness but a historical novel of both grief and celebration.
Not expansive but a few hours of discovery and fresh air, perfect for clearing the head.
Built on hills and natures fine earth, only a few paths mainly for burial vehicles, however grass lanes wind through the granite portraits of names. BUT if you require, polite parking at the entrance may be acceptable.
To facilitate Google questions, subtle on the road parking, no toilets available (just to crass), disabled access and acceptable for blue badge holders.
Beautiful parish church, however closed alot but used for community groups.
Beautiful ambience but whilst not stated, I believe that the graveyard no longer accepts and only family graves remain in use. Cemetery private, visually hypnotising and remains remembered by relatives, friends or the kindness of strangers. A deserving resting homage.
“The cemetery is an open space among the ruins, covered in winter with violets and daisies. It might make one in love with death, to think that one should be buried in so sweet a place.”
Percy Bysshe Shelley.
