Reviews of Old St Mary's Church
I. Y.
A fine church in a quiet setting next door to a very imposing Georgian Hall. The church is well worth going inside; the Coat of Arms of James I is impossible to miss. In the graveyard there are the tombstones of the family whose successful brewery moved the centre of gravity of the village eastwards in the Victorian period (and eventually led to the replacement of this church with a new one, closer to the village, in 1904).

Beautiful building and location. The ancient woodland behind it are lovely for a long relaxed walk.

What a beautiful old church, such a peaceful space to sit, think & collect your thoughts.

I went there for a funding event with my mum once. Always open by a wonderful team of volunteers from 10.00 to 4pm. Worth the visit.

A beautiful church in a stunning location! There are some lovely walks to go on within the surrounding area too

A terrific little church with many, many original features. Dates back to the 12th Century and was built on the grounds of an earlier Saxon church. The baptismal font is around 500 years old! I was married here too.
