Lovely church at the end of princess street park. Inside was nice. There is a Tiffany stain glass window there.
liked the Tiffany stained glass window and cemetery
Beautiful church, join for a service if you can.
Wonderful place to visit, atmospheric!
The Scottish can build beautiful churches here.
Incredibly interesting and beautiful Church.
Certainty needs maintenance; mosses and lichens eroding property
Great view of the castle
Just passing by on our way to Georgian House and we were amazed

The Parish Church of St. Cuthbert is a Presbyterian church, near the junction of Princes Street and Lothian Road, alongside St. John's Church; it has a certain importance for its ancient cemetery with seventeenth-century tombs; it is supposed to have been erected in 850 AD. and therefore it would be the oldest church in Edinburgh.
My Mom and I were taking a walk and just happened upon this Kirkyard. We didnt go into the Parrish but thought the Kirkyard was really cool. Typically green Scottish gravestones, Very peaceful. We actually enjoyed this Kirkyard more than the other 3 we visited in Edinburgh. Mostly because it was a hidden gem. Quite beautiful. The only reason I'm docking a star is due to the neglect at some of the graves tucked into corners; trash, debris, obvious homeless camps. Edinburgh, please clean it up!
This is the first time I have seen so much people-oriented behavior in churches. Children's room, toilets, tea and coffee... It is immediately clear that the church is not just a place of spirit and prayer, but a place of meetings, communication, exchange of information and emotions, where everyone who comes is greeted with a warm welcome
Calm and quiet oasis. Opportunities to buy souvenirs etc. The church room itself was perhaps a bit boring. But seemed like a building that was used and not just for decoration. There was a toilet available for visitors.
Fantastic peace and quiet. The relief of the Last Supper, instead of the cross and the crucified Jesus, is quite uplifting. Its message is different. There is no entrance fee, you can take photos, donations are accepted and it is appropriate to give.
This church is very interesting, it's where Agatha Christie got married!! It's located at the end of the Princess Street gardens... At the entrance there's a small cemetery! Come and visit it!
Curious and beautiful area at the foot of. Castle Rock, surrounded by a cemetery with notable characters and beautiful gardens that in winter fill the area with mysticism and a gloomy touch that is sometimes scary.
A mix of fantasy and horror, and a whole brutal architecture when it comes to the cemetery. I didn't do it, but there are companies that do fantasy horror tours.
Beautiful church and environment, quiet and ancient
Curious church inside a cemetery, the shame is the abandonment of some of its tombstones being destroyed.
(Translated) Initially I had given two stars, only because the church inside it, although it has some interesting details, is quite bare. For the rest I have to say that the reception by the volunteers was fantastic and cordial. With lots of explanations in all languages. The church garden is wonderful and well-kept.

(Translated) Despite its location in the center of the city, the church maintains a silent and somber calm between its mature trees and heavy moss headstones. The Gothic setting boasts an attractive dome, beautiful stained glass windows and an imposing 19th century organ. The current church building dates back a long way. Although St Cuthbert was completed in 18994, there were six previous churches.

Great art exhibition relating to climate change mostly done by children and tea and coffee was served as a welcome extra as the weather was bad outside.
Free visit, very pretty church in the heart of the city. The people who work there are super nice! You can leave notes on the walls, prayers... To visit!
The cemeteries are one of the elements that caught my attention the most about old Edinburgh. This is in the heart of the city. With a romantic air, through its tombstones we can learn many things about the city and the vicissitudes that its inhabitants had to face in the 19th century. Walking through it is a joy, don't miss it.
Quietly located in the hustle and bustle of Edinburgh's tourist district, the old Victorian church with its cemetery exudes something of the calm of an eye in the middle of a hurricane. Well maintained and definitely worth seeing
All of Edinburgh's churches and cathedrals are spectacular. You have the impression of being on a film set (Harry Potter, Game of Thrones) etc....
(Translated) It has a privileged location, surrounded by a garden and an old and beautiful cemetery, with spectacular views of the castle. Excellent for listening to concerts if you are lucky.
(Original)
Tiene una ubicación privilegiada, rodeada de jardín y un antiguo y bello cementerio, con vistas espectaculares del castillo. Excelente para escuchar conciertos si tienes la suerte.
Very pleasant and relaxing cemetery. Depending on your sensitivity, you will find a reaper walking around and resting quietly in the sculpture on the church...
Beautiful church with artistic paintings and beautiful windows.
Like most churches in Edinburgh, entry is free.
Magical cemetery, don't forget to visit this place.
Beautiful in its simplicity, but the most positive note is the friendliness of the people we found welcoming us. Thank you!
I loved this place with its old tombstones and this slightly ghostly side
Very nice place, only don't have a space to put one candle.......
Beautiful Church at the foot of the castle.
The old cemetery that surrounds the church is impressive, with tombs hundreds of years old very well preserved.
(Translated) Beautiful but like all the same Gothic style as all so that it is not so surprising but that does not take away the beautiful.
(Original)
Bonita pero como todas el mismo estilo gótico como todas así q ya no es tan sorprendente pero eso no le quita lo bonita.
Nice architecture
Great view of the castle from below.. Gothic church
The priest kindly invites you in, asks where you came from and gives you information in your native language.
Fabulous concert well organised beautiful church
Edinburgh Free Museum
(Translated) An amazing cemetery. A piece of history.

Niesamowity cmentarz. Kawał historii.
Might be a bit scary at night...
Very nice interior.
(Translated) Very beautiful church
(Original)
Дуже красива церква
it has its own history
It's pretty. Similar to the others.
Very beautiful
The church, the churchyard and the location is beautiful, while on the inside this church is a bit moderate. The frieze in the apse, resembling the Last Supper, and the marble pulpit are worth a visit, while the rest of the room is quite stale. There is an interesting history at this site, though, and the welcoming staff can tell the story!
Great
Unusual ancient cemetery
Amazing place!
Beautiful
Spectacular!
Chic church
A nice church to visit and there was a art exhibition on about saving the planet.
Impressive church - quite Gothic and atmospheric surrounded by a graveyard. I've been to recitals here and it was fab.
Founded in the 11th century this church has been damaged or destroyed by various armies besieging the Castle above it so much that nothing is left of the medieval church , the present building is from the late 19th century , the graveyard has lots of striking headstones and all have views of Edinburgh castle rising above it.
Great venue for the National youth choir to do performance.
The grounds sends you back to another age and you forget you are in the middle of town.
Our visit on 11th August from London. Very warm welcome. Great ambiance. Friendly, helpful staff. Best fish and chips we have ever had. We will definitely reccomend it and will come back again. Thank you and we haven't even had dessert yet that's how great it is.
The church is beautiful and the concert my partner and I attended was lovely; however, the people organising the event gave us a weird look just because of our tattoos and piercings. That kind of prejudiced attitude isn't nice at all especially if you're paying for and supporting early music presentations.
In my opinion the best way to visit the old town is by joining one of the walking tours that will take you to the hidden gems and give you a good background for exploring the place on your own afterwards. There are so many small closes, squares and buildings you would never see on your own, and on top of it you get all the good stories
The oldest Christian site in Edinburgh which predates St Giles Cathedral, the former High Kirk of Edinburgh. The churchyard and cemetery have some interesting graves and are worth visiting.
Open at night, Wich is great for a night thrill.
You have to visit. Loads of old and interesting archetectural nuances.
Magical place with an old historic picturesque graveyard with ancient trees. There is a very spiritual vibe and good feeling in this area. My wife is a seer & medium and she adores this place!
If you like old kirkyards and gravestones then this is the place for you
The exterior was beautiful, but as we didn't visit the interior I cannot give 5 stars on an expectation alone. The grounds were great even with the construction and maintenance people on site.
attended early morning service.Peaceful welcoming with some members who I identify with
Beautiful old church.
We received Avery warm welcome from everyone.
They are very willing to help you find what you need.
This is well worth an hour to visit and soakup the history.
A beautiful church yard and gardens
Gorgeous church overlooking the gardens.
Lovely views of the Edinburgh castle.
Liked the gardens and graveyard. Perhaps found the rector's grave who baptized my g-g-grandfather. Sadly, could not get in to examine baptismal records due to the music competition they were hosting that day.
A very interesting church in the heart of the city. The furnishings & fittings are exceptional. The churchyard also has a very large collection of interesting headstones.
Peaceful ambiance for spiritual activities.
A lovely place surrounded in tranquility even counting Princess St is so close. You find a relaxing and out-of-time sense between the graves of the yard. Simply great
Beautiful interior, a wonderfully peaceful place
Beautiful church
This is a fun story. Our daughter (from the States) is currently pursuing her PhD in writing at the University of Edinburgh. She has attended this church while there. We visited her in 2019, when she was getting her Masters, and we spent much time at the church and cemetery. Our daughter-in-law is into genealogy, and just told us our 3x grandfather lived, worked and died in Edinburgh, AND is buried in St. Cuthberts cemetery. A little spooky. Great church!
Well preserved history
we saw this church as we were passing did not go inside
but I hope it's not to long till we revisit Edinburgh and then will call in
took a mascot with us we take to places we visit took a photo of it not far from this really lovely looking church our mascot with us he as his own group on Facebook called travel with Max
hope it's not long till we revisit this beautiful place Edinburgh
Very cool & eerie (at least at twilight). Unfortunately, we did not get to enter, but the outside is great. Try going just before dark... it's super creepy, but fun.
Beautiful church just off Princes Street. Easy to miss but well worth a visit due to unusual architecture and art work.
The church is interesting enough but the graveyard around it is a place of wonder. Spend a moment or two and just wander the grounds and appreciate the history
Architecturally interesting. Stained glass window by Tiffany. Good acoustics. Downside is the extremely uncomfortable seating-very narrow pews.
Quiet place to wander among the gravestones. Good views of Edinburgh Castle from here, and it's at the corner of an enormous park.
Wonderful cemetaty close to the big park.
Has great acoustics. Il Signor Bruschino one act opera is on, and is excellent - acting as well as singing and playing
This is a wonderful historic church with a friendly congregation and they are renowned for their charity work.
The place is incredibly. It is an old chapel with lot of history throwback in 1800. The graveyard was the same, above the Edinburgh castle. Beautiful view and peaceful.
Beautiful old church in lovely setting. Worth visiting. Always seems to have something going on
I am looking to find my great great Grandad Henry Clinch who I believe got married in Edinburgh around 1840. The only one I found a record of is in St Cuthbert's I now need to follow up on this. Thanks Findmy past team.
Beautiful and the graveyard is too amazing. Be aware there are homeless people living in some of the crypts.
Traveling? Definitely go inside, it is beautiful; but I wouldn't skip something else you're excited fornin order to visit.
The architecture was worth a visit...really impressive and the gardens provided amazing views of the castle
Wonderful church for concerts. We heard the national scottish choir sing with the symphony in this beautiful church and the experience was great.
Historical graveyard in the centre of Edinburgh . Leads through to Princes Street Gardens.
Nice view of the castle
We were meet by a very gracious front desk person who answered questions about the church and it rich history.
Amazing and helping staff who care and have been helping me conquer my addiction
A quiet environment in busy central Edinburgh. The park/cemetery has good views of the castle and a Tiffany window features to the left upon entering the nave, next to a large organ. The volunteers are welcoming and keen to impart their knowledge of the church. The church featured a beautiful piece by video artist Bill Viola when visited but the lighting around the display detracted a bit. Otherwise a decent spot for contemplation or rest.
Stunning place. We enjoyed the NYCOS Christmas concert in this beautiful setting.
Sunday free breakfast and lovely cuppa, clothes if needed
Beautiful chapel. Greco roman design . Good place for recovery meeting
Attractive church with atmospheric graveyard. Apparently falling headstones have caused injuries in the past but it's still worth a ramble.
School concert was held there tonight - excellent acoustics in a great seeing.
First time in the St Cuthbert Church..big church...beautiful colour glass windows
A great building tucked away
We dropped in for a wonderful organ concert, and enjoyed the architecture as well.
Absolutely stunning church, and amazing old graveyard in the heart of Edinburgh
A beautiful church with gorgeous interior. Love singing there.
The building is exceptional and there is a lot of local historical interest to be read about the site. I was there to support a friend who was taking the Associated Board of Music Piano Grade 5 piano exam.
Beautiful church in the heart of the city. Went to see RTO concert at the fringe.
Except for the broken alcohol bottles strewn about a nice, peaceful walk through the graveyard.
Attended Come n Sing event with John Rutter, great venue & spacious.
Beautiful church to stop for a moment of peace and prayer. Parishioners are very friendly and helpful.
Beautiful building, fascinating graveyard.
Sociable choir Monday evening
Good place for services. Our choir sometimes uses it. Nice venue
Went to see Il Signor Bruschino by Cambridge University Opera Society which was fantastic.
Haunted! Party of our Edinburgh ghost bus tour. Fantastic
Beautiful church to stop for a moment of peace and prayer. Parishioners are very friendly and helpful.
Beautiful building, fascinating graveyard.
Sociable choir Monday evening
Attended Christmas Eve Service, and absolutely loved it. A very historical and beautiful church. My only comment would be they didn't use the pipe organ.
Was closed for the visitors 3 days in a row

A fabulous place to relax and extremely well located. We recommend to walk through the gorgeous cemetery surrounding the church; such a peaceful and scenic place, with Edinburgh Castle just sitting on top.

Enjoyed
The Carol service and welcome at the church was first class
Beautiful old historical place of worship.
Brilliant and iconic church. Worth a visit
It was nice church, very pretty.
Beautiful church and peaceful cemetery.
Lovely people. Beautiful building.
The monk in the shadow says it all. See me ... feel me. Husky
I love Edinburgh, such history. St Cuthbert's Churchyard first occupant is said to be that of an English Knights Templar and the church witnessed the marriage of Agatha Christie. Well worth a visit.
