Flt Sergeant John Hannah VC at 18 was the youngest ever airman to receive the Victoria Cross. In 1940 he was flying in a bombing raid against invasion barges off the coast of Belgium. The Hampden was hit by flak and caught fire. Thanks to John successfully putting out the fires the plane made it back to England. His burns were treated in a hospital near Lincoln. It was his last mission, he was de-mobbed on a full pension a year later.
