J. F. G. I. W.I attended a Requiem Mass here recently for Dr Russell Berry. Got to say it was the best funeral mass that I have ever attended. The liturgy was sublime and the music superb. Have a realareal for this church because my mother Marie Kathleen Wilson nee Higgins was baptized here. She would have been 99 this year! I used to help tune the organ when I worked for Bishop and Sons thirty five years ago! In my teens I used to play the organ for the Vigil mass at St Mary and St Michaels Commercial Road having been taught at All Hallows by the Tower and later Assistant Organist at St Mary's Codogan St in Canon Richards time and the lovely Monsigneur George Tancred, alas now both gone to God.
It was lovely to see Laurie Delaney who I have known since I was about seven years old officiating as Master of Ceremonies. I will be 54 in November! His lovely mum Doris RIP was also a great mentor to me when I worked for Tower Hamlets Social Services .
