Our priests are finely tuned to our spiritual needs during this time when Mass is being said but where we cannot now attend in person due to the impact of the pandemic. They understand that something important, deep within the essence of their congregation, is missing and they continue to share Jesus's message of love and hope via the website and the Mass. I still feel spiritually nourished and that is a testament to them.

The parish is a friendly Catholic parish with an excellent, intelligent and empathetic parish priest, Father David. The parish has a long and justified reputation for hospitality. The hall is a much needed and used local resource. There are Masses for all tastes - six on Sundays if you include the vigil Mass on Saturday evening. On Sunday morning there is an early, 8.30 Mass which suits early risers and those who need to work. At 9.45, there is a more traditional High Mass, with lovely singing by the choir and parts of the Mass also sung by the priest. Mozart ranges from Mozart to Elgar to modern carols by John Rutter. For those who prefer folk music, the 11.15 Mass has a popular folk group and children are particularly welcome. Although that does not mean at all that children are not welcome at all Masses. The church has a close relationship with Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic primary school, literally right next to the church.
The church is not just run by the parish priest. The parish council meets regularly and it's financial committee keeps a close eye on finances. This is a prime example of the active involvement of the laity. Volunteers abound, visiting the sick, there is a bereavement counseling service, a prayer group for mothers and a popular scout group (including beavers and cubs). So, all in all, this is the local church as it should be. Members care for each other, many giving freely of their time and skills. So, Catholic or not, you will be welcome. Lapsed Catholic? Very welcome, no judgement made.
