Pretty church gardens, friendly dog walkers and homeless people all mull along well. The volunteering gardeners have been there for years on end and tend the fauner all year around, they are friendly, knowledgeable and do a fantastic job.

Great history and lovely people involved = who care for the local community. Very atmospheric inside, currently this is the one place i can write; so i've found that healing. There is an excellent acoustic for live music, recommended.

St Leonard's Church Shoreditch (often just referred to as Shoreditch Church) is a Christian place of worship of the Church of England. It was built in 1740. It is a local landmark notable for it's 192 foot tall steeple, it's classically inspired design and pale stone coloured cladding which makes it stand out from its (now) trendy surroundings. It completed a major renovation project in 2020 with money from the National Lottery Heritage Fund. In order to limit the spread of COVID-19 and in compliance with the latest government restrictions it is currently closed. It isn't clear when it will reopen but when it does I encourage a visit to see the interior of the Church and outside without the scaffolding erected for the renovations.

One of London's finest Georgian churches - it rather hides its considerable size behind the huge trees in its churchyard, so the sheer scale & solemnity of the interior comes as a bit of a surprise! Really magnificent, though attractively 'battered' by the last 2 & a half centuries of use. Clearly, there must have been plenty of money in 18th century Shoreditch to pay for such an ambitious building - it's superb!

Completed in the 18th.Century with a classic Greek portico restored over time but now showing wear and dilapidation. Simple, humble and unaffected with some original accoutrements, and bizarrely a whipping post and stocks possibly to subdue recalcitrants and dissolutes. An active church.
