A beautiful church where Frederic Handel worshiped and Theodore Roosevelt married.

This is a beautifull and impressive Georgian church in London city center.
Totally unexpected it appeared in front of us while we were walking around to find a coffee place.
It is located next to Oxford Street, great location!
The church was closed and we couldn’t see the inside.
However we will definitely go back to see the interior, we‘ve also read there is an amazing organ.

We had a lovely afternoon at St George's Church at their annual Christmas carols service. It was so pleasant getting away from the hustle and bustle of work and busy streets for an hour of calm, singing carols and listening to the wise words of Canon J John et al. The church inside is beautiful and I hope this will become an annual event.

Rather a hidden gem. Visited on the occasion of an Opera Settecento recital which was entrancing.

One of the less well known but beautiful churches in central London and so well worth a visit for just that.
Aside from the connection with the composer George Frederick Handel, it is also a venue for a lot of fund raising concerts; we have attended a number and the acoustics are very good.

Very beautiful church love the classic painting still vibrant. The classic church windows the pews with knee pads the red carpeted aisle. Very beautiful traditional church that has been well maintained in the middle of central London. I was there for a wedding and it was exquisite.

Breathe in, look around and marvel that, around 400 years ago, George Frederick Handel sat and worshipped in this building. Although it is an Anglican church, the layout like a Methodist church, with a prominent pulpit and a gallery all around. The names of churchwardens back to the early 1700s are written on the woodwork, minor saints memorialized.

I often cycle past St. George's just to take time and marvel at the structure, shape and form of this magnificent church.
The Architect who designed this was John James, one of Sir Christopher Wren's assistant's, and it shows in shape and scope.
It cost £10,000 pounds to build which is an enormous sum of money by today's standards and was consecrated by Edmund Gibson, Bishop of London, on March 23rd, 1725.
This is architecture in it's grandest form and I must actually take time out to view the inside which will not disappoint me
A fantastic Church and one I love stopping to look at, a London marvel.
Highly recommended.

Beautiful church but often has a number of homeless people sleeping just outside it. Couldn't it be opened up so they could sleep inside?!

Large Corinthian portico characterises this huge church, built around 1720 when Mayfair was busy with lots of new residential development across all estates.
