Reviews of St John's Wood Church

Super easy to book, fairly priced and accessible locations. The testing experience was very professionally handled, and results were provided as promised. Have used numerous times already and would recommend to others.

A well kept public gardens opposite lords cricket ground.Dogs are allowed but must be kept on leads. The ground-men / gardeners work extremely hard to keep this a peaceful and well maintained public space. There is a small children’s playground that keep the grandchildren occupied and during the summer deckchairs are available on the main green. The flowerbed are stunning and bursting with colour during the summer months. The gardens are so peaceful and just a short stroll to St Johns Woods High Street.

This is a friendly welcoming community church. Beautiful, peaceful, open for private prayer, a good place to be. The atmosphere is of this church s special! The outstanding professional choir sings at the 11 o clock Eucarist and at festvals like Christmas, and Easter . The excellent chamber choir which is open to new amateur recruits sings at several occations during the year. The congregation meets for coffee after the family service or over a sherry after the 11 o clock Eucarist and you will find a jolly welcoming crowd of all ages. There is a Tradecraft stall which profit goes firectly to the producers.

I have only attended evening concerts here and one wedding. It is a pretty space, not overly ornate with a peaceful ambience.Has a modern hall space also which is useful for receptions etc.

A Georgian grade 2 listed 1814 of neo classical design by Thomas Hardwick. Originally had extensive cemetery that closed in 1855 and reopened as a public gardens 1886. Supposedly haunted sightings of a galloping highwayman and a victorian little girl.
In 1823 Sir Charles Warwick Bampfylde of the distinguished Devonshire family, was shot on his doorstep in broad daylight by an ex employee J Morland, in a fit of jealousy (his wife still employed there). Bampfylde died after 12 days of the injury. Morland was buried alive with a stake through his stomach at the crossroads outside the front of the church.
On the traffic Island infont of the church is a grade 2 listed bronze statue of a mounted St George killing a hapless dragon. A WW1 memorial, on a plinth of portland stone. Unveiled 1930. By the sculptor C L Hartnell.
Became a parish in it's own right 1952.
Paul and Linda McCartney had their marriage blessings here in 1969.
In close proximity to Lord’s Cricket Ground, The Regent's Canal, London Central Mosque, Regent's Park, London Zoo and Lisson Grove.
Nearest stations are St John's Wood and Marylebone.

(Translated) The park next to the church is about the size of Dosan Park in Korea. It sits as big as Regent's Park, but suitable for sitting and relaxing. It is good to go to church next to you and pray for a moment. The door is always open. Nothing special to see. There is warmth sitting in a rural church.
