Reviews of St Matthew's Westminster
One of the best venues for meetings in London! Absolutely love the setting, the location is a very easy 10 minute walk from Victoria. Enver, the centre manager can't do enough for you, and the facilities are great.
Old English Church. Occasional concerts are also held there. Very interesting architecture, located near Westminster Abbey and the Parliament.
Tired from so much walking in the streets of London, I found a "haven of peace" there.
A beautiful church that is centrally located with a stunning little hidden chapel.
Also a conference centre which is in the last stages of being refurbished (available for use) that we have used as a charity on many occasions for board and committee meetings. Flexible supportive staff, especially Enver who heads it up, and good pricing.
Never been inside. Seems like it's squashed in next to all the other buildings. Aesthetically pleasing exterior. Designed in Gothic Revival style by the architect George Gilbert Scott built in 1851.
During the 1850's this part of Westminster was notorious as a poverty stricken slum and known as the Devil's Acre ; a fraze coined by the author Charles Dickens. And considered as the worst slum in London!
This is a quiet church you could easily pass without noticing. It welcomes all and has a side Chapel for anyone who just needs a moment (during the week) of peace to themselves.
Very hospitable. Great venue for our small conference. Joining in mid day mass was very special
Wonderful concerts at lunchtime every Wed!
