Reviews of St. Paul's Cathedral
w. t.
One of the most beautiful landmarks and most recognisable this city has to offer. Giving u stunning view on a bright sunny day n evening. It was rebuilt after Great Fire Of London. Cathedral is open to public to view inside. Entry charges for guided tour r £20 for adult n free on Sunday for service. Even u can’t see everything on Sunday but still worth to visit for for great inspiring art work. One of the most photographed building and location in London.
U can get 360 view of city London from the top or get the best view of the Tomb from the roof of One New Change shopping centre next to it. Love to catch it’s Tomb pic from the Millennium Bridge.

We were so glad that we got the chance to visit the Cathedral and learn its history. I would recommend taking the audio tour. We were able to get to the top, but be advised you need to climb 528 staircase to get really nice photos. Don’t forget to ask about Harry Potter spiral staircase 😉 and they will provide you a lot information about it.
R. W.
A stunning visit. Iris gave us a great 30 minute highlight tour that I recommend. Loads of steps to get up to the top Golden Gallery, but worth it for the views if you can handle the hike.
J.
My first time in this cathedral and wasn't disappointed. Would've liked to do the upper gallery but its only open on certain days, but did do the crypt underneath. Given a handset with information on the guided tours also very helpful staff who were very knowledgeable if you had a question. Overall experience, great.

Very pretty cathedral. A guided tour is very good. Inside as well as outside is a must see. The building has all different faces from different angles. I can't take enough pictures of this beautiful building. It is also visible from The One New Change shopping centre and from the Millenium Bridge.

I really enjoyed the visit (it was quite curious to ask for an audio guide in Spanish, and being answered in Spanish too!).
The place is inmense, and be prepared to do some exercise, because if you wanna fully explore the cathedral, you should visit the dome and all the terraces (more than 500 steps up).

The cathedral has an important place within the psyche of many Londoners and it is a great place to visit. It is quite expensive but they do have to fund the upkeep. The view down the nave with the great ceiling decoration is worth getting in early for. There is access to the upper levels via a spiral staircase and you can tour the outside although the inner whispering gallery is currently closed. After the first morning service that finished at 09:00 the organist continued to play for another half hour and that sounded fantastic.
S. T.
The cathedral is as beautiful as you would expect for a European church from the 17th century. It is adorned with art and sculptures that are obviously well taken care of. I am not Christian but their service was still worth staying for. If you are willing to pay to enter, I would say it is well worth the cost and the money goes into upkeep.

Amazing cathedral in London.Kindly check mass timings online,if you want to attend holy mass here. One of the top attraction of this place is the Stone gallery and Golden gallery from where you can see the whole London city.Free ticket for NHS staff. Ticket price-17 pound per person.

One of the most beautiful landmarks this city has to offer. Stunning on a bright sunny day and evening. Cathedral is open to public to view inside. One of the most photographed building and location in London.

A new updated review to follow on from my previous visit a few years ago.
This time a fully booked visit, done online and daughter got in free with being 17. Also got a guidebook for £5.
Truly spectacular inside and out. The occasional prayer services taking place through the day. Plus a wedding was occurring not long before we went in.
No photo or review can truly do it justice. One of, if not THE sight to visit in London.
From the statues, dedications and burial spots throughout all the way from the crypt to the dome - it's true history all around you. Religion is only half the story.
There is a 'accessible' lift that will take you to the floor of the whispering gallery. After that you're on your own. So you better be ready to work those calf muscles!
Although there was such a queue we couldn't get to the Golden Gallery, we were still able to get to the Stone Gallery. And the views proved the climb was worth it. I was easily able to get a free upgrade to an annual pass so we can come again within a year to get right to the top. Think I'll ask about getting the lift part way next time tho 😄
D. T.
I was awe-inspired when I laid my eyes on St Paul's Cathedral. It's one of the iconic landmarks in England. One simply can't miss if you're in London for the first time. The scale of the cathedral is a match for the intricacy of the stonework. Wherever one looks, there is something new to behold. Mind you, the entrance fee is quite steep.
Y. H.
The main hall is stunningly beautiful. Roof decorations, wall statues, and marble structures. The whole atmosphere is zen and spiritual.
They could have done a better work informing the public about the climb to the top. It was extremely exhausting and would warn any person with a heart, asthma, or claustrophobic against doing it.
If you still do the climb to the top, you will end up in two different levels. The first one doesn't offer a great view. You must wait in line to climb again to the top super narrow level. Only then you'll have a great 360 degrees view of London.

Have walked past St. Pauls many times when visiting London but recently heard entrance was free on Sundays. Obviously didnt walk around or tour the dome but the interior artwork is so intricate and detailed. Absolutely stunning. Its a whole experience - the bells before the service were ringing at some impressive volumne, the choir and the organ and the interior and surroundings. Definately worth a visit even just for a prayer or organ recital on a sunday.

St Paul's Cathedral is an Anglican cathedral in London. As the seat of the Bishop of London, the cathedral serves as the mother church of the Diocese of London. It sits on Ludgate Hill at the highest point of the City of London and is a Grade I listed building. Its dedication to Paul the Apostle dates back to the original church on this site, founded in AD 604. The present structure, dating from the late 17th century, was designed in the English Baroque style by Sir Christopher Wren. Its construction, completed in Wren's lifetime, was part of a major rebuilding programme in the city after the Great Fire of London. The earlier Gothic cathedral (Old St Paul's Cathedral), largely destroyed in the Great Fire, was a central focus for medieval and early modern London, including Paul's walk and St Paul's Churchyard being the site of St Paul's Cross. The cathedral is one of the most famous and most recognisable sights of London. Its dome, framed by the spires of Wren's City churches, has dominated the skyline for over 300 years. At 365 feet (111 m) high, it was the tallest building in London from 1710 to 1963. The dome remains among the highest in the world. St Paul's is the second-largest church building in area in the United Kingdom after Liverpool Cathedral.
Services held at St Paul's have included the funerals of Admiral Nelson, the Duke of Wellington, Winston Churchill and Margaret Thatcher; jubilee celebrations for Queen Victoria; inauguration service for the Metropolitan Hospital Sunday Fund; peace services marking the end of the First and Second World Wars; the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer; the launch of the Festival of Britain; and the thanksgiving services for the Silver, Golden and Diamond Jubilees and the 80th and 90th birthdays of Queen Elizabeth II. St Paul's Cathedral is the central subject of much promotional material, as well as of images of the dome surrounded by the smoke and fire of the Blitz. The cathedral is a working church with hourly prayer and daily services. The tourist entry fee at the door is £20 for adults (August 2020, cheaper online), but no charge is made to worshippers attending advertised services.
The nearest underground station is St. Paul's, which is 130 yards (120 m) away from St Paul's Cathedral.

We had a fantastic tour with Leslie on Friday at this splendid building. I'm still in awe of it..we were staying at the Leonardo hotel across the road and had a spectacular view of it from our room.. I could absorb the detail and the fine architecture in all natural light...early morning, late at night..utterly glorious! One thing (my fault)..I was wearing heels... so if you intend to climb to the top, come prepared... I lagged about 20 minutes behind my partner , but wasn't going to miss the amazing views of London. I could even see the spire of St Mary's Church on Harrow on The Hill from St Paul's towards the Wembley arch. Breathtaking!
R.
My go to place on a blue day! I love the songs and vibes in this church. No wonder one of my favourite Bollywood movies was shot here ♥️ Commendable architecture 😍
K. E.
A must visit location for a mix of old and new London.. if you have some time to spare, wander around the cathedral grounds for amazing church views.
S. J.
Beautiful piece of history and architecture. You may enter and see inside. I didn’t have the time to do so and also wait in line as there was a line at the hour I went. But it is really impressive to look at from the outside and appreciate the craftsmanship of this cathedral. A lot of great places to grab a bite near by and in a very nice and safe neighbourhood.
N. G.
Beautiful cathedral with rich history. Be prepared to be immersed in a self reflective experience, while also contemplating historic events.
Your ticket can be booked online and it comes with an audio guide set, which takes you through the history of the cathedral.
You need to visit on a weekend if you want to climb up to both the stone and the golden gallery. The whispering gallery is still closed due to safety precautions. There is a lift but it takes you down to the crypt. Thus, you need to climb up around 500 stairs up to the galleries. The steps become pretty narrow the higher you go.
Photos without flash are allowed. There are toilets and a water station to refill your bottle. They are next to the shop.
You can easily spend 4 hours if you take time to listen to the entire audio guide and enjoy wandering around the cathedral. You can only go around the galleries once, so make sure to enjoy the view while you can.
You will absolutely love the experience!
A. M.
beautiful place.book in advance. you can up to the top of the dome and look at the city. climb stairs 20 minutes.
A. S.
Amazing church with lots of history. A place to meditate and explore. We went all the way up for stunning views of London and down to the huge crypt to examine the many tombs. We got a year’s membership for £17.50 as there is so much to see it’ll take more than one visit.
N. M.
Incredible building, the video/audio tour was great, the walk to the top was tough as it was steep and narrow at times but so worth it. However I felt the most interesting part was the crypt, so make sure there is enough time to absorb all of the great information the audio tour provides about the different tombstones.
S. K.
Beautiful cathedral with mosaic decorations on the ceilings. The tickets are a bit pricey, but include an audio guide and access to the dome.
B.
An amazing experience. Even the kids are entertained with the little handheld tour. Please expect to spend time there, you don't want to leave! I think we had a couple of hours, but we didn't have time for everything.
M. H. M.
I have been here several times and enjoy the experience thoroughly. A beautiful building although the public toilets could be improved for accessibility and access to upper arras are restricted. The guided tour was excellent.
D. G.
For more than 1,400 years, a Cathedral dedicated to St Paul has stood at the highest point in the City.
Frequently at the centre of national events, traditions have been observed here and radical new ideas have found expression under the iconic dome. In many cases these events have left some physical record as well as echoes in the intangible memory of the building.
The present Cathedral, the masterpiece of Britain's most famous architect Sir Christopher Wren, is at least the fourth to have stood on the site. It was built between 1675 and 1710, after its predecessor was destroyed in the Great Fire of London, and services began in 1697.
This was the first Cathedral to be built after the English Reformation in the sixteenth-century, when Henry VIII removed the Church of England from the jurisdiction of the Pope and the Crown took control of the life of the church.
L. D.
The cathedral is a dream, if you don't feel like paying to do the whole tour that includes the audio, access to cript and the stairscase (only the middle gallery was open when I went and you couldn't really enjoy the view because of the protective walls), I'd recommend going to the evening song which is free and a lovely ceremony with the choir (but no photos allowed)
J. A. S. G.
Stunning cathedral, full of history, with such a beautiful dome and the art works it has. The crypt is impressive as it is quite large, which have many sculptures and plaques with the names of remarkable British figures from the past.
R. J.
St Pauls cathedral is a historic church. There entry cost £21 for adults and it includes an audio tour.
m. m.
Must have to see place in London route! Best way to come on the clipper and walk around, cross the bridge to Tate and stroll to South bank!
N. S.
Outstanding and iconic.
One of the best work of Christopher Wren (although there’s plenty more of his work scattered around London).
Tip: Cross the Millennium bridge from the Tate modern to get a really nice lateral view. You can take some beautiful pics.
M. B.
If you haven't been here, you must visit. It is a stunning building with so much history. The advent concert was really good and it was nice to see the congregation full
R. V.
Beautiful! Make sure you visit the dome view. Check out what days are open. I went Monday and it had no waiting time. Great experience!
P. H.
Magnificent and extremely imposing. Saint Paul's is a worthy centrepiece for one of the greatest of all cities. It is the nub and heart of London.
e. v.
One of the most beautiful cathedrals I’ve ever visited. Climb up the top is a must!!
R. C.
Well worth a visit, just be prepared for the stairs up to the top of the dome, but it is worth it for the view.
N.
Very impressive cathedral. Lots of history and art was put into this building. The painting are amazing. You can join for free to the evensong service to see the building in is full power and spiritual. I was there just the day after the parliament member was murdered and it made me feel like im supporting peace between all religions and people by attending to the evensong this day.
S. R.
Absolutely staggered by the view and the people, one of the best places for photography and sunsets.
100/100
M. D.
Just as impressive from whichever angle it is viewed. No sparing of dedication to making this a living glory of hope and faith. Brilliant stonework that has lasted the smog of time. Long may it last.
J. P.
A stupendous cathedral. This iconic building is awe inspiring in terms of its gigantic proportions. Don't forget to look up at the ceilings!. Go up the dome if you're fit enough. A mere lung sapping 528 steps gives you a beautiful view over London 360 degrees. Alot easier coming back down. I was disappointed the famous Whispering Gallery was closed. Maybe next time. Its £20 admission (unless you are going to worship) £17.50 for concessions Seniors etc.

St. Paul's Cathedral is one of the major cathedrals in the world. It is the Anglican seat of the Bishop of London. It is the 21st largest church in the world in terms of its 7,875 square meters, but in terms of its cubic volume of 150,000 cubic meters, It is the 17th largest in the world.
It looks and feels like a church because it is not packed with historical monuments like Westminster Abbey, which is the 53rd largest church in the world.
St. Paul's Cathedral is over 350 years old. The site has hosted a St. Paul church since 604 AD. In 1087 AD, London started building a cathedral, which was completed in 1314 AD. The London fire in 1666 AD destroyed it and they built the current cathedral in its place.
It was designed by Christopher Wren in the Baroque style, and was built in the style of St. Peter's church in Rome, which was completed in 1626 -- 51 years before construction of St. Paul's cathedral began.
My favorite part of St. Paul's Cathedral is its chapel for the Americans stationed in the UK during WW2 who gave their lives in defense of Great Britain. It contains a book that has the name of each of these Americans. This chapel is located at the head of the Cathedral behind the alter. Its carvings and stained glass windows depict American animals and symbols. One panel contains a space rocket and stars because the US space program was at its peak when the chapel was completed.
My wife and I visited St. Paul's today. We were able to join one of free tours they offered. The tour should have been better. I would recommend the included interactive tour on the tablet instead of a live tour, but perhaps my guide was an exception.
Compared to Westminster, St. Paul's Cathedral has a small fraction of historical artifacts. Its only impressive monument is one for Duke Wellington. But as a church, St. Paul's Cathedral surpasses Westmister Abbey.
After the tour we stayed for the 5 PM service, which was a Mass celebrating Mary, the mother of Jesus. The service was my absolute favorite part of the visit. The choir sang a beautiful Latin mass in the Renaissance style by Pierre de la Rue, who was a Belgium composer who lived from 1452-1518. The choir and organ were magnificent. The building's reverberation is tremendous. The 15 voice choir sounded like 50 voices. The organ sound ranged from delicate to overwhelming. When the music stops, the building keeps the sound going for another 11 seconds. This greatly magnifies every sound. The service was uplifting and moving.
The church invites people of all faiths to participate. I felt welcome and comfortable even though I do not belong the the Anglican tradition (which is very similar to the Catholic tradition). I highly recommend attending a service as long you don't bring children because they would not enjoy it and the smallest noise becomes very disruptive.
N. P.
Phenomenal piece of architecture. You can feel the energy in the main room. Quite spectacular.
Considering the footfall through the door during tourist season, I didn’t mind paying the fee to enter. It ensures it’s upkeep.
A special piece of London’s history.
I. C.
A truly amazing building. Absolutely beautiful and steeped in history.
M. J.
Beautiful Cathedral
They will provide with audio tour which helps a lot
A different experience
Loved the interiors
A beautiful church with lot of history
It’s a must visit place
S.
Visit while London’s quite and foreign tourism is minimal 👍
We visited London over the early May bank holiday and the city was amazingly quite. Making it the perfect time to visit some of the more touristy places, St. Paul’s one of the top of the list.
Booking online is easy and then checking in was simple too. Due to its size there is loads of space inside and didn’t feel busy at all; even up on the viewing points they were very quite.
It’s a beautiful and interesting cathedral, nearly unmarked from the disaster left by WW2 and remains an amazing historic building worth a visit when in the capital.
S. A.
Beautiful church, make sure you go upstairs to ston and golden gallery to see the beautiful view of city
R. Z.
Magnificent from the inside and outside. We managed to experience the Christmas Carols at this Anglican cathedral. Beautiful listening to the choir singing 'O Christmas tree' and 'Silent night'.
E. S.
This is a stunning place but is not for free there is a fee of £20 for entry. If you want to enter for free you need to go at 5 pm. For the evening service. Check their website for updates and more information. In case you can't go later. There is a little space on the left of the entrance just to lit a candle and pray. There are very good security measures, plenty of hand gel, and the place is immaculately clean. You might need to fill in a form at the entrance. They are facilities (50p) and a souvenir shop, unfortunately, the cafe is not open at the moment, but there are other cafes like Pret a manger amongst others outside the cathedral, in the Paternoster Square. The cathedral is not passing for a good moment like any other business nowadays, they need to replace the roof and many other things, let's support them as much as we can, hopefully, things may change soon.🙏

One of the main attractions of the London skyline, plenty of spots to take in the beauty of the Cathedral. Some of the best shots come from the millennium bridge/street leading to it. Definitely something worth visiting on any trip to London
N. S.
Such a beautiful cathedral, the ceiling art is shiny and mesmerising. Must see historical/religious site in London.
S. W.
Apart from the sheer beauty of the structure and internal expression of faith. This place is a sanctuary. Today I happened upon Ash Wednesday, so wonderful a service.
D. M.
A working place of worship and a museum and iconic building all at the same time. Benefits from location near the Thames, restaurants and cafes.
A. W.
Very historical place to visit in London. £20 entry fee, which is unusual for a local historical place, but I guess they have their reasons.
T.
Stunning Cathedral. I didn't had the chance to go inside but definitely I will be back to go and admire the interior and the views from St Paul's cathedral. It's nearby of the Millennium Bridge, Tate modern museum, Shakespeare's Globe and other many famous attractions in a walking distance
T.
A cathedral like no other. From the architecture, Eucharist, to christmas tree, everything feels so magical!
C. B.
What a view! An amazing place and must see. Pay for for audio guide and access to the galleries well worth it!
J. L.
Top 5 catherdrals i have ever seen. Simply stunning. Make sure to go down to the Crypt level!
B. H.
Incredible place if you appreciate history, architecture or religion. One thing I'd recommend is the tour, very informative and brings the place to.life. Loved it and would go again.

Fleet Street has a great view of st Paul's! Make sure you visit it at sunset
S. G.
Wonderful. Thank you to our wonderful guide an aged gentleman who was a font of all knowledge on the cathedral. The guide really made our visit special. Highly recommend anyone visiting to jump on the guided tours.
A. S.
Came for a Christmas choir service for the MS society. beautiful performance.
the atmosphere of the cathedral was perfect for the occasion.
have been to St Paul's before as a tourist and thoroughly enjoyed it. the views from the top are great. there are some sections that are quite narrow, so be prepared to bow
S. C.
One of the nice place from London. It was a nice opportunities to visiting with my wife. I can't believe how big and nice place it is. Thanks London for a lovely day.
Z. B.
Amazing place to visit if you love religious art and architecture.
M. A.
Wow what a beautiful architecture. St Paul Cathedral is one of the most famous and recognizable sites in London. This Cathedral was built and dedicated to Saint Paul . This is an Anglican cathedral in London . A nice place to visit if you're in London.
A. C.
Fantastic building with amazing history. Long climb to the top, but what a view...not for the faint hearted.
G. S.
Mark, our guide, was amazing. Free guided tours inside cathedral. Give yourself 30-40 mins to climb to upper galleries!
D. M.
Definitely a must do! So many wonderful things to see internally, and then there's the views!
A. K.
The most beautiful and ornate cathedral I've ever been in. It's a must see. We climbed to the top of the dome too for some fantastic views of London. Blew my mind.
W. S.
Incredibly beautiful cathedral that truly made me feel closer to god. It had a certain feel to it that made me fall in love with the building
A. H.
Had slight reservation about the entrance fee and whether it would be worth it. How wrong was I? What an amazing place, full of interesting things including the history. The icing on the cake however was the climb ultimately to the top of the dome. Brilliant clear 360 degree views of London, including a distant Wembley stadium. Highly recommended.
D. S.
Great attraction. The staff there are very friendly and helpful and easy to go around. I must recommend it.
d. p.
Just passing and decided to take a picture. Iconic building, recognised around the world. Must make the effort and actually go in there one day...
j. w.
Worth every penny (or pence?). The staff seem to be comprised of volunteers, and their knowledge of the cathedral itself is inconsistent, but it is a beautiful place. Link up with a tour!
P. T.

Incredible place to visit or stop by for Sunday service. The Eucharist starts at 11.15 on a Sunday morning. But it's a beautiful environment and the sounds of the choir is wonderful. I may attend another service it was really nice.
T. K.
Beautiful architecture. Feel calm when you go inside
G. G.
Amazing! I was pleasantly amazed by the beauty of the place. Worth seeing and before leaving the cathedral, make a stop at the souvenir shop.
S. B.
Iconic London landmark, great view from Millennium bridge and the shopping center at the rear.
T. T.
We booked in for 2 pm. Bag search on entry as well as hand sanitiser had to be used. No queue & got in within a minute. Have to wear facemasks inside. But wow I was speechless on how beautiful St Paul's cathedral is. Included in entry is a hand set & head set u can select different areas of the church to get an audio & video tour. Nice small bite size videos u could listen to or watch at your own pace. There was no service while we were there. The cathedral is huge & we were there a couple hours. We walked around the ground floor, stunning floors, statues, wood carvings, marble statues, decoration, ceilings, paintings ur spoilt for choice on what to look at. You can take photos everywhere but not if a service is happening. We walked up the stairs to the stone gallery, it's 272 very small & steep steps (see pics) up so not suitable for everyone but amazing views over London if you can manage the steps. Stairs were one way so easy to socially distance. Wasn't that busy while we were there. The golden gallery wasn't open. Also visited the crypt downstairs, saw the memorial for Florence nightingale (she is not buried there), visited the grave for Horatio Nelson, Duke of Wellington as well as other famous people & theres a gift shop on exit. If your visiting London or live here worth a couple hours of your time just stunning architecture decoration & so glad I went

Encient Church with loads of history behind it. Its a must visit place while visit
Interior of this cathedral is awesome with mural paintings encient sculptures, artistic works .
G. S.
Stunning place! It’s hard to walk up to the top! Do some workout first ahah beautiful view from the top. Awesome crypt. It’s a MUST if you want to see something more about London
M. M.
I am grateful for the restriction against taking photographs of the interior. Otherwise, it is likely we would have spent days, instead of hours, feasting our eyes upon the sculptural and architectural wonders held within.
J. L.
The Cathedral stands out in the middle of London. The surroundings are nice and with a beautiful view. I even saw a couple doing their wedding album there since the images you can get are unique. Unfortunately I didn't have time to go in and I'll try next time. I remember the price to go in and then top the top deck on the dome was something close of 10 to 15 British pounds. The gardens around the Cathedral are pretty well treated and nicely kept. Kudos to the administration.
B. F.
Well worth the price of admission! A must-see on your first trip to London, welcoming to all denominations. St Paul's iconic dome is a London landmark and was London's tallest structure from 1710 to 1963. Designed by Christopher Wren, St Paul's is the most iconic example of English Baroque architecture. I appreciate all of the modern art that has been installed and incorporated into the cathedral, which appeals to a secular audience. the basements include the burials of some important Britons, with galleries and gift shop. If able, I highly recommend climbing its many steps to its 365ft observation deck with 360 degree views of London.
T. B.
An impressive cathedral, with a large crypt housing the graves of several notable figures (particularly military). Also, the burial place of Christopher Wren, the architect of this version of St Paul's. In the words of Wrens tomb, "if you would seek my monument, look around you."
R. P.
Stunning, spacious and full of history. The stone gallery is still accessible for great views of the City, although you can't currently ascend to the Dome, and the Crypt is a must-see, the final resting place of many of our most famous people. Highly recommended and well worth the admission fee (booking essential at this time)
C. E.
Great views from the outside gallery, the whispering gallery has been closed for two years, and I don't know when it reopens. I was able to get an annual ticket for the price of a daily ticket, so check out their website!
C. K.
Nice Cathedral, comparable with Sacre Coeur from Paris. They started the building in age 600.
B. E.
Beautiful, highly decorative cathedral with a great view of London from the galleries.
C. G.
Amazing creation but puzzled as to why The Robert Hooke Memorial was so small considering he was a contributor to the design of the Cathedral and a prime associate and colleague of Wren?
M.
Beautiful cathedral! One of the top sites to visit in London. Make sure to be respectful! The inside is glorious and the outside gives great views.
P. M.
Beautiful Church, walking across Millennium Bridge in an evening certainly frames its Grandeur!
D. M.
Awe inspiring building, with a better view than the millennium wheel. But only if your feeling fit...
528 steps up to the top...
D. L.
It's a shame one has to pay an entry fee to offset the costs of maintaining this National Monument... but the sense of awe and wonder and the connection to so much former British culture and history makes for a memorable visit.
W. a. C.
I visited some years ago but it was a wonderful experience. I love London and I hope to return and do more exploring. Costa coffee was close by too!
M. M.
Beautiful church built in different style then most English churches. Interesting art as well.
J. V.
An awesome experience to view St Paul's. The surrounding area is higher impressive.
D. S.
Was really good. But I didn't know the no photo policy which is super annoying when you pay alot to get in!
Check your entry fee too, they put through way too much to start with, luckily I noticed...
Oh and the dome climb.....it is quote thinn in places so I thought it would be fine as I'm only mildly claustrophobic, but mentally it was scary.....
M. A.
Haven't been inside but it is beautiful to have a late night stroll around & admire the architecture.
B. D.
Absolutely in awe of this stunning cathedral. Never seen a more beautiful or colourful mosaic masterpiece in a cathedral in the United Kingdom. The hike to the top of the dome is well worth the view on a sunny day. Would highly recommend and glad I got an annual ticket. Make sure you check the tour times for the Geometric Staircase, as this isn't open all the time. ☺️
Y. C. G.
One of the most beautiful, if not the most beautiful cathedral in the world, St Paul’s is also the most iconic and famous cathedral that is well known to the world.
Entrance to the cathedral is expensive. It is advisable for visitors to get a London Pass which allows entrance to the cathedral and express queue (normal queue is long).
The place is huge!! The architecture and design is truly marvellous and magnificent, close to magical. It is extremely impressive especially given that this building was built after the Great London Fire. How did people build this without any of our technological marvels! Ain’t this what makes us so wonderful as a human race, that we can do anything if we put our minds to it?
Do note that there’s the whispering gallery which allows visitors a truly unobstructed view of the inner cathedral, but there’s a lot of walking via steep steps. Further up, one can also go to either one or both of the external viewing balconies for a truly magnificent view of London city. However please do be mindful that not only are the steps on the steep side, there’s also a lot of people and the space is kind of narrow.
Please also note that picture taking is not allowed inside though.
Recommended to all!
R. Y.
Wonderful building with amazing history. We went up the 500+ steps to the top (only open school holidays) and the view was tremendous. You also get to see the structure of the dome. Well worth a visit.
F. G.
The St Paul Cathedral oh my god is an amazing attraction and I really suggest people to come here and since it’s still quiet amazing to chill around and relax! Managed to capture the magnificent escalator upwards to St Paul! Hope everyone enjoys them! 😁
D. M.
Wonderful cathedral. If I was religious this visit would have given me a religious moment
C. J.
Absolutely fantastic! In order to see everything allow yourself 5 hours. Definitely but tickets to the Triform level, Wren's model is worth the extra cost.
D. Y.
Very impressive interiors and good audio guide comes with the entrance fee. The floor and Crypt were open, but sadly not the galleries when we visited in early October 2020. That would have made a 5 star visit. There are toilets and a gift shop in the Crypt and the surrounding gardens with plenty of benches provide a good picnic and resting place on a busy days sightseeing.
L. P.
It is difficult to believe that the Lord did not build this wonderful piece of architecture himself. For those that have the faith, the service is devine and for those that do not have faith ? It is sheer amazement.
S. L.
It was my 1st visit to the St. Paul's Cathedral.
Was a great experience, as I attended the Evening Mass.
M. H.
It's so beautiful and love to walk around. Built in 1675 and it's a great 1 listed building. The arcitecture was brilain and deffinerly the builder who built this building.
Heart of islintion and in the city. Very clean outside and indoor. For all the working professional and people live around a lovely place to walk around durung the lunch break or in the evening.
J. G.
An amazing Cathedral in the centre of the city. It's a must see if you are visiting London.
Do your best to avoid rush hours, as you would likely less enjoy the experience.
A few recommendations:
Buy tickets via Expedia, so you can skip the queue.
Don't forget to print your tickets in advance, as they are asking for a hard copy.
Take the audio guide, it's really good and quality with its touch screen.
To climb to the top, takes around 30 minutes up and down, assuming it will not be too crowded.
If you don't like heights or you're claustrophobic, you might want to skip the pleasure of walking up to the dome.
The climbing to the Golden Gallery is via a hole metal staircase, which you can see through, so be brave and don't walk with heels.
E. M.
Their Sunday Organ Recitals are a great opportunity to visit the cathedral and appreciate some world class interpreters playing their magnificent church organ
A. J.
Wonderful place. So much to see and take in. Great view from the top of the dome, although it fair near killed me getting up there. Well worth it though. The video installation art at the rear of the cathedral really made me stop to think. Very powerful and in no way an intrusion in such a space. You could spend all day in there. You can book a tour which I would recommend: There is an audio/visual tour which is free of charge but there is so much information it is hard to get your head around it. I think the tour would give a visit some focus. You could always have a wander round after. I also advise visitors to go early so that at least part of the visit could be crowd free, relatively speaking. There is a nice little souvenir shop and cafe in the crypt. The highlight of my visit to London.
g.
A stunning piece of architecture and even if you are not religious it is still worth a visit (although the admission fee is pretty hefty), the inside of the dome and main hall are beautifully designed. The admission fee also allows entrance to the crypt (Wren, Nelson & Wellington are buried here) but on my visit there was no admission to the dome/galleries
C. S.
Such a beautiful Cathedral to visit, a must for anyone’s visit to London.
B. Q. K.
Absolutely stunning location!... very privileged to see parts of the cathedral people have never seen!
R. B.
Beautiful and majestic cathedral which also happens to be the second largest in the world. During night it is lit up and walking around it in the dark is an experience, all though a bit spooky. Unfortunately the cathedral closes early during the day and one cannot enter after working hours. From what I've understood it is also very expensive to enter, seems a bit off to charge an entrance fee for a religious site, but what can you do.
N. M.
Absolutely exquisite! So much art and history in one place. We were there for a couple of hours and were in awe the entire time. The beautiful statues, the amazing architecture, the stories of destruction and rebuilding. We could not stop taking pictures. The audio guide was great too!! Last but not least, the staff was so friendly and informative. So happy we stopped in. Thank you
v. t.
You can't understand the beauty of this place unless you see it for yourself, the guides really know their stuff and theres plenty of food places near
M. W.
It's one of the best landmark I love in London. The cathedral is huge. You can walk the stairs to the top of cathedral. Then you can see the 360 view of London. However, it's quite high actually and the road is narrow. Need to be careful! Some of the staff is not friendly.
S. V.
Aways something to do and it a great place to take pictures and drink coffee x
K. B.
Stunning and totally beautiful building. Awe inspiring and calming all at the same time. Can’t beat it!
T. L.
Excellent. Hugely recommended (by this atheist). It's breathtaking, the gallery has incredible views and the crypt is full of history. Staff were either complete non personality robots (which is fine) or really very friendly and helpful (even better)
M. T.
This is one of the most impressive cathedrals I have ever seen. A walk around the outside marvelling at the architecture and sculptures will take a little while before heading inside to learn more about the building and it’s heritage. Catch a service and you may get cheaper entrance if your that way inclined. Beautiful building!
A. B.
This place and its grounds are beautiful! If you can spend some time sitting and enjoying being in the presence of this beautiful architecture and history, please do. People brought blankets and refreshments, and were relaxing on the lawn. The entry was majestic with its checkered tile, huge wooden doors, and plaster designs. It closes at 4pm so don't miss seeing the indoors like me. They do offer services so if you are wanting attend it did not appear that would be an issue.
n. a. d.
St Paul's Cathedral is a must if you are visiting London. Go there on a Sunday afternoon to join a service and enjoy the bell ringing. On the left side of the Cathedral, in the outside, there's the crypt, turned into shop and coffee
E. V.
Just Wow! We used the London pass to enter and got a tour of the place with it-the history was quite interesting. The artwork is so different in various parts of the church so you will find yourself in utter awe many a times, but somehow it all adds to the grandesque masterpiece it is. My only regret is that I could not climb the Galleria and the spiral staircase due to covid and work going on up in the library, so heads up for those visiting at this time.
G. W.
Really special part of London, it’s a huge place and you get to escape the busyness of the city. You can queue or pre book (cheaper) and you have a small security check before you go in. There were lots of school visits when we went but plenty of room to get out of their way. There are audio guides supplied. Remember to be respectful when the service begins, be quiet. If you walk downstairs it is actually very warm, which is where you found the cafe, gift shop and toilets. You must visit the stone gallery but beware; there are over 500 steps! This is very tiring regardless of your fitness level, just take your time and you’ll get there eventually. If you up the narrower steps you can’t go back, just up and forwards, so keep that in mind. Once you get to the stone gallery you get to have great views of the London skyline. The golden circle is the better view, to get there you have to climb a spiral staircase, which is a challenge for those with issues with height. You can see the top of the dome from this point, it’s really something. Eventually you get to the golden circle and it’s great, take your time, make videos and photos and take it all in. Coming down is much quicker than going up.
Q. F.
Really Impressive monument and up close you will see all this "new architecture" coming over London streets, shaping this city with new forms and colors!
K. G.
Absolutely beautiful building with incredible views from the top if you're up for a 528 step climb. The whispering gallery is still closed for repairs, but the rest of the place and the views are still worth the trip. Shout out to Andrew who doesn't know what web tickets are.
L. D.
This is a great little spot in London. Close enough to a lot of nice pubs/restaurants if you want to make an outing out of it, but the real treat is the architecture and vibe of this landmark. You can even attend some services on Sunday if you wish, but a good walk around the area will be just as fine!
J. G.
Amazing, simply amazing. A wonderful design by Sir Christopher Wren. The crypt is such a tribute to Britain's finest, Wellington, Nelson and , Churchill.
C. S.
Absolutely amazing and enormous cathedral. I recommend attending the (free) Evensong service, because the choir and organist are very good, and worth the listen.
J. C.
Another world landmark, the toweing monolithic edifice that is St Paul's is even more overwhelming as it is nestled in the heart of London surrounded by narrow streets so it suddenly appears as you turn the corner looking down on all the surrounding buildings that are dwarfed by it. It is somewhat austere in appearance somewhat plain but confident and solid rather than over decorated. Inside this theme continues with the heavy weight of hundreds of years of history bearing down from its voulumous vaulted arches dripping with fame and faith.
H. P.
A must see experience, one of London's most recognisable places, with amazing architecture, and incredible detail carved on marble. This detail is only further exemplified on the inside of the dome.
On some special days they have mass, which is open to the public, but only those who will observe mass and pray, the other areas are closed off.
It is a very short walk from the Millennium Bridge, Tate Modern Museum, it is also on the Thames Walk path, which follows the river Thames from Tower Bridge all the way to Houses of Parliament (and further), which takes about 1.5hrs.
M. P.
Breathtaking cathedral, it is huge, full of historic monuments with amazing mosaics and pieces of art. It also has a majestic dome. You can go behind the scene and climb to the top of the dome (about 500 steps, not recommended to people that suffer from vertigo)
D. K.
One of the most amazing cathedrals in Europe! I only admired it from outside but it was astonishing. Don't forget to go to the Millennium Bridge that is 2 minutes away. Both are also worth visiting in the evening hours because dark and lights add some special effects to both of them. Must go! 😎
M. P.
It is my favourite cathedral in London.
The building we see nowadays is, at least, the fourth one built in this site. It was built after its predecessor was destroyed in the Great Fire of London, in 1666. But its dedication to Paul the Apostle dates back to the original church located in this site. It is the cathedral of the Bishop of London, so the most important in the city. It is really beautiful both inside and outside.
p. a.
What a beautiful building which is steeped in history. It was a but of a shock about the cost though, £20.00 per adult! I went up to the dome part but I couldn't make it up the next bit. If you can manage heights and spiral see through staircases with platforms at points up to the top, then it is worth the view, the other peothat I was with said it was amazing up there.
S. L. -. B.
Such a stunning building with incredible history !! We didn't walk all the way to the top but got to the stone gallery which was around 300 odd steps to walk up and back down again. To get to the top its around 500 odd. Some parts of the walk up can be a but daunting but it's so worth the walk when you get to see the views!
Every inch of the cathedral is filled with history and is stunning. Had a brilliant time here and brought some lovely gifts from the gift shop. Friendly and helpful staff.
C. S. M.
Absolutely stunning cathedral.
Due to covid the cathedral is closed but even so is a beautiful building to see.
I highly recommend the visit !
T. G.
Simply one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the world. And in a really interesting part of London. A must see!
M. G.
Recommend visiting...and go up to the top of the Dome
I. P.
Magnificent place, excellent and informative audio guide (included in ticket price) gorgeous views from the dome/galleries. In order to get all the way up, one must have to be in a good shape, there are a lot of stairs and they become quite narrow as one climbs closer to the top.
N. N.
Looks beautiful from the outside but the entry charges are high
J. B.
Worth the visit. One of the most beautiful cathedrals in the world. Photos are allowed so bring a camera. You can easily spend an hour or two here. They even hold mass if you want to go. When you are done exploring the Cathedral and the crypt below, you can climb all the way up to the top for an incredible view. It's a lot of stairs so don't skip leg day before doing this challenge. A must see for any tourist.
H. L.
Best cathedral in London and mabye United Kingdom.
R. R. A.
The most important church in the UK and the only church in the UK 🇬🇧 that has a dome. It’s quite different than other churches because of its baroque architecture instead of typical gothic style like other churches in the UK. The mosaics work inside is simply stunning. Because of COVID-19 there were not many tourists there so that we could absorb its beauty. The dome is currently not accessible because of COVID-19 though.
E. F.
A truly magnificent historic building in London that is well worth a visit if you are in town. The architecture is stunning and considering I haven't been for over thirty years, I don't know why I left it so long!
The whispering gallery has now been closed due to a sad and tragic event and hopefully it will re-open in future years again.
A. S.
What an amazing place. The climb to the top of the dome is so well worth it. The crypt is also a must see. Great audio tour too.
B. O.
A beautiful cathedral. The architecture is just stunning. Very detailed. We weren't able to go in this time around due to me being restricted to a wheelchair so that is on my list of places to go back to when I'm able to walk again.
C. J. G.
Some of the greatest architecture in Britain. Hundreds of years of history not far from the River Thames.
C. H.
St Paul's Cathedral was one of my highlights on my London trip. It is so grand with everything crafted in detail. I highly suggest to man up, bring a portable fan, and start your climb to the top because the views are spectacular. It is quite the climb but definitely worth it. It can be tight and narrow so if you are claustrophobic, be cautious.
D.
Amazing place with a twist!!! Panoramic view, 360, of all London landmarks!
J. M.
Although not an Anglican, stayed around for evensong. Inspirational ✝️
M. A.
Beautiful architecture that can be experienced both from the initial presentation outside, and then the incredible building from the inside showing its majestic beauty. It has to be on the list of places to visit in London. A must.
ٌ. A.
Its a quite charming cathedral, but I was dissatisfied that once you reach the top of the cathedral they allow you to stay for only twenty seconds. If you are not that fit don’t go up its huge amount of stairs really excruciating. But the view there even for a very short time is worth it.
A. V.
The entrance is not free but it's worth it. You can ask for a private visit of some secret places. And don't miss the roof terrace. The view is breathtaking on a sunny day. The audio-guide - included in the price ticket - is well done too.
J. G.
One of the most iconic buildings in London, you can’t quite grasp the size of this historical building until you’re standing beside it. If you’re out exercising during this lock-down stop for a moment, have a seat and feel the history.
C. B.
I can't believe I haven't done this before but so glad I finally visited it. I was very interested by the views from the top and I was not disappointed. There are some flights of stairs, 528 to be exact, and those got me at the base of the dome. The views are amazing but I wanted the full experience so I climbed extra 118 metalic stairs and got to the top of the dome. Phew! This is what I wanted! My knees were shaking and the narrow platform didn't help, but I loved the adrenaline.
After the dome I went downstairs and visited the Crypt. It wasn't scary, it was nicely lit, the explanations were very well documented and it also have a gift shop, toilets and a café.
I recommend a visit when the skies are blue. It's worth it!
G. T.
Fantastic place to visit.
M. B.
Impressive cathedral in central London.
It is worth concidering to get a ticket (£20 adult, online a bit cheaper) and explore inner sites of cathedral floor as well as galleries in the dome - one of the highest in the world. The top requires to climb a number of stairs but it is worth the effort. View of London is unique, the cathedral floor could also be admired from different prospective.
R. O.
Other than I remember when this used to be free we (mum, dad, 7yr, 5yr) had a very enjoyable visit. Surprising uncrowded, we made it up all 500+ steps to the top - the presence of the kids meant a brave face had to be put on over the terror of heights. There was also little information booklets for the children who throughly enjoyed hunting down the memorials and other pieces of art and history.
A. W.
A must visit place in lodon. Just go to the top of the cathedral and enjoy the panaromic view of the district.
On a clear day it is a treat for the eye. I was there after bit of rain so could not have been better timing then that. Air was crisp clear, view was as clear as it gets.
m. m.
Beautiful cathedral,lots to see.
D. B.
This is a must see place. Great audio tour, and so much to see. Staff very helpful and lots of explanatory signs. An important part of English history.
C. B.
One of the most beautiful cathedrals ever built. I have visited before many years ago and tried to bring my family during the Bank holiday weekend however there were a lot of police around the building and it appeared to be cordoned off. We did spot on entry point but it seemed a bit lifeless on the steps so we decided not to go in. Sadly for this amazing cathedral, it appears that extinction rebellion were causing havoc across London that day making it slightly more difficult for tourists to enjoy what they came to London for.
V. N.
Beautiful place. Must visit!
We went there many times.
Not sure if you can go up but the views from the dome are very very beautiful! Be prepared for a lot of stairs and small spaces leading up, the views will make up for it though!
M. J.
Beautiful, stunning Cathedral, one of my favorite buildings in the city. St Paul's Cathedral is an Anglican church located within the central of the City Of London.
r. z.
These are the last days, if you still have that vacuum your heart, it's worth humbling yourself and receiving the forgiveness and real peace from Jesus. This is no joke.
B. G.
A wonderful cathedral. A visit to this church should be on every tourist's list of places to see. The door security and the ticket office staff were most welcoming and friendly. (Better to book in advance to reduce queuing time, but tickets can be bought "on the door".)
Inside, the building is spectacular with stunning architecture. The scale of the building cannot be conveyed in words.
As well as the various tombs there are also memorial plaques to the famous, including Florence Nightingale, William Blake, Christopher Wren and many more.
At regular hourly intervals, on the hour, there is a brief religious service in the form of prayer in which anyone can participate. Lasting no more than a few minutes it provides an opportunity for reflection.
A cafe and shop in the Crypt provide support for the religious elements of the cathedral's activities.
S. M.
Absolutely immaculate structure and beautiful bells. They played for almost half an hour calling people to mass. Had some locals tell us that they’ve shortened the service to help cater to the younger crowd. If you go during service you don’t have to pay to get in and still get to see the inside. Lovely place and great monuments near by. Much history.
S. J. H.
Another place that’s been on my bucket list for years St Paul’s. I wasn’t disappointed it’s just amazing place with such history.
From the views from the golden circle, which for someone that doesn’t like heights it was a challenge, but well worth having jelly legs.
To the tombs where all these historical famous people are buried. Make our history come alive ironically.
And the architecture is just breathtaking
If your in London, find yourself some time to pay it a visit
A. J.
Loved the upper level where you enter. The architecture and art inside is breathtakingly spectacular! However when we entered the crypt we felt sick and light headed. It’s not right for people to be down there amongst the dead like their graves are tourist attractions. Nor is it ok to have cafes down there and the shop. Not respectful to the people who lie there and they are definitely there still around in spirit form otherwise we would not have felt sick. Only a after a little while we both had to get out and as I am an empath i am sensitive to energy alive and dead.
C. S.
Stunning building, with stunning views from the top. We easily spent a couple of hours here on a Friday afternoon, and it wasn't crowded at all. We took the stairs to the top, not for the faint-hearted but a nice challenge if you're up to it. We didn't eat (had lunch before we arrived) but the options looked good. Great gift shop too!
p. a.
A splendid and magnificent church in London. You have to purchase the tickets(18-16£) to see the cathedral but you can see the insides for free if just go for praying but you'll not be allowed to visit the galleries
You'll easily spend 2 hours admiring the grand architecture of the church and its rich history.
There are 3 galleries with 500 darning steps in total which is gonna make you sweat.
But it's worth the effort for that 360 degrees view of the London skyline.
Please avoid wearing heels ladies !
R. F.
Great place to visit and be prepared to go up to all whispering, stone, and Golden Galleries, you will have a surprising view when you reached Golden Gallery. You have to walk upstairs for more than 1000 steps to reach the top. Need to spend 2 hours if you want to have a deep look at whole areas.
0.
Very beautiful building, great architecture and reminds of the Capitol. Can be seen from many directions. Standing in from means feeling, smelling and seeing such a massive building walking around takes a view minutes, let you time for the citys atmosphere working its magic.
m. m.
We went up the cathedral. All 527 steps. The view from the top of the dome is fantastic. The way to the top is very narrow and not recommended for people with great of hight. The building is nice, the structure great. Always wanted to go here some time. I was a bit disappointed about the lack of Christmas decoration inside.
M. N.
This place is an architectural marvel! Love all the details inside and out. Definitely worth a look when in town on vacation. Check the cathedral hours to make sure you don’t miss any events. If there is church service, certain parts of the cathedral will be closed to non- church goers.
V. c.
Ancient and well maintained cathedral. Ensure to climb to the top for an amazing view of London. Ensure to visit the Crypt as well. Entry is £17 per adult.
e. w. o. R.
The beautiful St Paul's Cathedral is in the heart of London looking out over the river. The second highest dome in the world losing out to St Peter's square and stands at 365 feet high. It is steeped in history from recent royal weddings to the final resting place of heroes and noteworthy figures of the nation. Bring a good pair of walking shoes as it is a looong climb to the top, 500 plus feet. Try and get there early as it will take an hour and a half to see the cathedral properly and it is worth taking the time to see. It's a bit steep price wise but you may be able to get a discount on various websites (£20 per adult). There are security checks on the way in also. The cathedral has beautiful gardens where locals like to come to read and relax and have lunch. Enjoy
S. M.
Like this place. Enjoyed a lot during my visit. Audio guide is fantastic .most exciting is reached stone gallery 53 metres from cathedral floor 376 steps. Rooftop view is awsome. Building architecture and inside view just wow
D. O.
The views from up here are fabulous, took my nephew here who is afraid of heights and the lady very kindly helped him through his fear a big thanks to the lady for helping him the cathedral itself is wonderful. I would advise anyone who is a little scared of heights especially the spiral staircase to take your time as it’s a bit scary to climb
P. K.
Great architecture built by the famous Christopher Wren with London's only one dome. Beautiful inside and outside, worth visit the top of dome to see nice view of London, but be careful if you afraid of heights or small spaces. Also mind it closes at 4:30.
L. B.
Was there last week..... what a lovely place. Is beautiful and big. The most beautiful is the Dome..... I love the part where the painters are .... is a combination of monochromatic and golden paints all are very nice.
The whispering gallery is simple fascinating and the crypt is just well designed.... I can believe I even sat to have coffee with all this dead bodies anyway a experience to remember ☺️
C.
During my many times in London, I've now visited this extraordinary temple of monotheist worship three memorable times. Two of those three times I peacefully fell asleep sitting near the crossing, looking up at the massive dome in awe, entranced by the voices of a boys choir singing beautifully distant-sounding music as it bounced off the stone and marble throughout the massive space. The other time I climbed to the top to take in the view on a typically cold and rainy London afternoon. Also inspiring, though I preferred the peace and warmth inside.
It's a must-see in London, and its size and beauty always seems to exceed my expectations even after having experienced it several times now. I look forward to the next time. :-)
C. E.
This is a must do when in London. You can either purchase your tickets online (where you will receive a small discount) or upon arriving. Don’t be deterred by the payment, what you will experience is well worth the price of admission. There are a number of sections within the Cathedral, so also ensure you grab a map.
The most break taking experience is climbing to the top of the Cathedral. This is where you can appreciate a 360 degree view of London whilst being 85m off the ground and get some fantastic shots. If you are afraid of heights attempt to surpass your fear and go right to the top, you will not regret it.
S. I.
One of the most beautiful and grant Christian Cathedral
J. F.
Very impressive. Short tour by very informative guide well worth it.
J. B.
Outstanding, one of my favorite places in London! So beautiful, unfortunately you can’t take pics or vids inside. If you want to climb the stairs to the roof, which I recommend that you do, be prepared for a long and strenuous climb and that you are wearing comfortable footwear. It also gets quite claustrophobic as the stairwell encloses—similar to if you’ve ever climb to the top of a lighthouse. The rooftop views of London were worth it!
C. H.
Booked in to do the triforium tour and we didn't know what to expect. We met our guide inside and within 5 minutes we were glad we had made the right choice. The tour was really informative with a guide who had a genuine interest in what he was doing. We absolutely loved it, it took about an hour, we then went onto the viewing balcony out on the dome. Be prepared for lots of steps (obviously) but all worth it.
J. K.
An inspirational architectural triumph. The tombs of many heroes - Nelson, Wellington et al - remind us of our history.
M. F.
Make sure you go all the way up. If you came first time to London, this is the place you want to go. But only if you are willing to walk 528 steps all the way to the golden gallery.
On the way don't forget to whisper in whispering gallery.
Don't get me wrong, the cathedral is also magnificent.
S. D.
Have visited London countless times, and this was my first visit to St Paul’s Cathederal. Outstanding. I was, unfortunately, rather late in the afternoon. This place deserves at least half a day, it is over-brimming with history. Would visit again, probably alone, to take time to look at every single memorial, nook and cranny. Magical place.
S. M.
This is a wonderful cathedral that is well worth a visit. Beautiful and very interesting. I confess to being disappointed a little as it feels more like a tourist attraction than a very special place of worship. St Paul's is huge and must cost enormous amounts to maintain so tourists are vital to keep the finances flowing. Climbing to the top of the dome (almost!!) affords fantastic views across London but be warned, it is quite hard work with more stairs than you will want to count! A beautiful cathedral well worth a visit, even better, attend a service there to experience the true atmosphere of this incredible place of worship.
p. s.
Very impressive. Evening prayer was on so could not have a good look around
But what I did see was impressive.

Doesn't to be missed! We spent there all the morning (but surely it would be taken more time if we had have it). Surely it worths the cost for the ticket (family tour for £ 44)!
You can visit the ground floor of the church (the only restriction is the chorus' seats that you can see from far but not enter in if you don't but a guided tour).
Then you can go upstair and visit the mezzanine from where you can see the ground floor from the above. From there, you can go outside the chapel and walk around it enjoying of the view above London. If you want more view, rise further 152 steps for reach the top of the chapel. Then, you can have a stunning view of London (Thames, Shard, skyline, etc.).
You can also visit the crypt where are buried some of the most important people of London history, such as: Admiral Nelson (to whom is dedicated the central part of the crypt, as if he had been a monarch) and the Duke of Wellington.
Be aware: NO TAKING PICTURES IS ALLOWED INSIDE!!!

A really wonderful couple of hours spent here having a good look around. The children's activities were brilliant as well with a lovely, fun and informative animal hunt tour. My five year old really enjoyed it and I'm very proud he got all the way to the top!
R. Y.
Amazing cathedral with top views and a breakfast burning climb.
Don't waste your money in the Shard. This is far far better.
Highly recommended...

Beautiful building, beautiful views, fascinating history. It is expensive to get in, but students can return unlimited for a year. Also, you aren't allowed to take pictures inside the dome, and they do enforce this. I find that a shame because it is so beautiful.
E. N.
Impressive building.. very nice when the sun shines through the windows.. great to go up the stairs- but just in case small spaces and heights doesn’t make you feel sick.. the higher you get the more challenging it is and there is no space for returning- there is one way up and one way down ... the sight up is great though..

Trust me.
It worth to go.
Try to go to the top
- there are 2 view point out side, middle of the round roof & the top
I didn't expect that much.. you know churches are everywhere. But thinking back my first travel in London, view on the top of St. Paul's cathedral was the best.

None other than the House of God--The House of Prayer.
An amazing edifice, epitome of worship to YHWH and a great dedicated choir that leads the Mass.
C. G.
Beautiful Cathedral in the heart of the City of London. The church of the most important financial district in the World.
E. S.
This is a beautiful Church to visit. It is very important to take the stairs to the highest levels for the views of London. It is a long climb up and it's important to take your time. When we were here, the elevator was not working.
S. S.
Adore visiting London. A walk through the streets of London in February is ideal but wear comfortable shoes.
C. C.
What a wonderful place to be at...always love visiting this church. Its atmosphere and vibe is really beautiful. It stands tall in the city of London, absolutely magnificent even from afar. Had spend the evening here with my family and we were allowed to visit inside the church to pray, however there is a security check at the entrance of the door.
b. k.
Great cathedral . Not as hodgepodge garage sale stuffed like Westminster Abbey. If you can make the Sunday organ recital don't miss it. across the street at one new change rooftop bar you get the best view of the dome in London. Part of London pass take advantage of it.
S. Y.
St. Paul’s cathedral is really majestic and is very beautiful from the inside. It’s a very popular tourist spot and you will always see a crowd waiting to enter, more so over weekends. Located on luggage hill, it’s 365 feet tall amongst the tallest domes in the world. The view from the top of the dome is breathtaking.
J. M.
Outstanding display of history, architecture, climb the stairs to the whispering gallery, visit the crypt. Marvel at the emence detail art work and how much gold leaf was actually used to decorate the ceilings, walls and gates ?
Take a free tour, fascinating.
K. D.
Beautiful, serene and a fantastic audio guide! The best I've used anywhere in years.
Inside, it rivals the Sistine Chapel, and the crpyt is great for history lovers. We were lucky enough to enough catch a morning eucharist, where they served both bread and wine (rare at the moment in English churches). It was peaceful and full of depth.
So I encourage you to go.

The most beautiful architecture in London. This is a must see to enjoy the park around it and would recommend walking across the river after
V. M.
Massive structure. This is quite a magnificent structure. can peacefully sit in the gardens for sometime and talk to nature.
I spend around 30 mins there and can see people sleeping and chit chatting in the park (garden). so many birds as well. Recommended.
M. B.
I went to Choral Evensong and an Organ recital here-Beautiful it was a sparkling afternoon and the Cathedral was beautiful the service won't be to everyone's taste but it was an ambition of mine and it was everything and more than I expected as I participated in the service the sun moved around the walls ( we were sat under the dome) and the sun illuminated the beautiful mosaics and carvings of various Saints -it was a spiritual and magical experience, which I shall repeat again. The gardens at the side of the Cathedral are beautiful too.

You can't help but stop and take photos every time you walk past St Paul's Cathedral. If you are lucky enough to get to go inside make sure you walk up the narrow little passageway to the Whispering Gallery towering high over the cathedral floor below!! If you with a friend you can stand on opposite sides of the huge dome and talk to one another and be able to hear what the other person is saying way across from the otherside!
A. J. W. T.
St. Paul Cathedral has a very unique and classy design. It is huge and accessible just a ride to train. It is one of Londons’ tourist spot and great place to visit. You can pray solemnly and spent more time in this beautiful church.

Lovely visit. Climbed all the way to the top for an amazing view of London. Also take part in 12.30 service which was special. It wasn't busy either so we could take out time

Well worth a visit.views from the top are excellent.see the tombs of Christopher wren who built it and admiral Nelson.lovely.

I felt like Roman emperor when I saw astonishing architecture of ST PAULS CATHEDRAL this holy worship place truly is god owned place with their energy and positive vibes whenever I come visit and see the efforts people put back in medieval times to create this HEAVEN
C. N.
Loved it, i was amazed and dearly attracted to churches, abbeys and everything related to religion and gothic style.
W.
The side chapel is open to everyone for free and the main part is a paid area. However, if you visit during lockdown, the main area is also open for prayer. It is a good opportunity to visit and appreciate the beautiful cathedral for free. Nice and friendly staff and reverends too.
T. F.
Wow, such a beautiful cathedral!!!! So much detail and beautiful art! It was magical walking down the center aisle, knowing that Princess Diana and Charles got married here and walked down that same aisle!
I want to go back to see more!
H. M.
A stunning cathedral! Definitely go to their daily service which is free, you can skip the payment. Very beautiful inside! Such a shame you cant take photos. The dome is just exquisite! Really enjoyed hearing the choir and acoustics of the cathedral.
P. J.
Iconic building and a working church.
I went last Xmas, and few people there seemed to know the words to the hymns or when to say the prayers or stand or sit, please some were taking pictures when it was an actual church service.
Worth going up to the dome and outside it which means waking up 502 steps, so make sure you are fit
M. P.
Most famous of the British Cathedrals, destroyed in the Great Fire of London and then rebuilt from 1675. The architect, Sir Christopher Wren is buried tn the crypt
During the blitz in WW2, it was saved destruction by dilligent fire watchers, google for full history
I walked up the 277 steps to the viewing gallery, amazing views across London, and went to the crypt, so many of our nations heroes buried there.
Many memorials to be seen as you walk round, tributes to the fallen during our many conquests around the world in colonial times, and the World Wars.
S. B.
Absolutely stunning and a great experience. I’m glad we visited this place. Took us about 2.5 hours to explore this beautiful church. Highly recommended!! If you go all the way to the top you’ll get same views all around as being on London Eye. I’ll rather visit this Church over London Eye. Cost is £20 per person.

Sublime.
The adult ticket price is 20 GBP including audio guide.
It’s definitely worth the efforts to climb up the cathedral where you can have a great view of London
A. T.
Loved the view from the Golden Gallery. Be sure to wear appropriate shoes for the long climb up the stairs, and for the ladies, wear tight skirts (if you're planning to wear one) or trousers since you'd be climbing spiral staircases and everything under a loose skirt can be seen from down below. Mind your head when going through one of the narrow staircases. A few patrons have bumped their heads onto that low beam. Also, you will see a glass window on the floor where one can see the cathedral floor from up above the stairs leading to the Golden Gallery.
The Crypt was an interesting place. Find where Christopher Wren, Winston Churchill, Alexander Fleming, and Florence Nightingale is. Lord Nelson's and Duke Arthur of Wellington's tombstones were quite majestic. A commemorative bust of George Washington can also be found here.
F.
I was impressed how they have managed to keep the atmosphere of a place of worship and also remain a big tourist attraction. It’s a very impressive building. The highlight for a non religious visitor is the “whispering gallery” that gets you closer to appreciate the stunning inside of the dome. Then there’s the “stone” and “golden gallery” which takes you outside to get a unique view of the city. Be prepared for hundreds of steps it’s a long way up so avoid if you don’t like heights. Very expensive 💶 entrance fee.
C. H.
Always wanted to visit and it didn't disappoint. Stunning architecture, plenty of information available in many options to suit everyone. I even participated in the Eucharist, a memorable moment. Highly recommended
L. R.
Amazing! Breath taking! I really recommend everyone goes for a visit. It’s an outstanding building with lots of photo opportunities nice to walk around as plenty of shops around. Also lot’s of transport links. I would say this is one of the nicest places to visit in London
S. W.
It is an amazing historical building and a very good looking one, the area is also very nice, if you go through the gates/doors by Paul's Cafe is Paternoster Square where you can find a lot of places to eat and have a coffee or just rest.
V. B.
Visited this place few years ago and you must visit the inside of the St.Paul cathedral it’s beautiful and you got the chance to go upstairs and have an amazing view of London from the top (stairs available if you wanna take a challenge) but there is a lift as well. Great architecture and even if you don’t wanna visit the inside you can always go around the place for beautiful spot and picture to take. You gonna fall in love. Top 10 place to visit and full of good restaurants around or place to eat a quick snack.
C. H.
I really enjoyed St Paul's. The entry price was pretty expensive to be honest, especially as the whispering gallery was closed, but it's a nice touch that the tickets last for a year. The walk to the very top was the highlight, so if you aren't physically fit for it, the tickets are probably a little dear for you.
G. R.
Highly recommended independent of the creed! It is a piece of the history of the world, presenting beautiful art works. You can know more about all the details with the audio guide you receive in the entrance. Be prepared to step up to the stone and Golden galleries.. the best part of the visit!!!
One of the most beautiful cathedral in the world!
R. K.
Grand cathedral and rich history. Church personnel turned me away when trying to observe an organ recital because "Site-seeing is not allowed". Guards seemed to power trip on who they were letting through with little sense.
C. M.
Another a must visit place in London is St. Paul’s Cathedral. We didn’t go into the Cathedral but mainly looking at different angle of it. Pretty awesome and rich history. Must visit, Museum of London as well to see the historical info of this cathedral. Was here during cold season and as you can see, pretty gloomy most of the photos and that’s the great weather you can get here in London for now, but definitely a must see in London and try to visit inside of the cathedral to see more magnificent designs. Nearest underground is St. Paul and there are nearby attractions as well you can visit via walking so it’s a worth place.
S. R.
I’ve always driven passed this area too, and the other day I decided to visit this area on my bike ride (during lockdown, so it was closed). There’s lots of eating places and outdoor seating, perfect for a hot summers day to just relax and appreciate the view!
L.
Beautiful.
Absolutely stunning architecture.
N. K.
Magnificent 1800s barrock style cathedral!
Didn't go inside, but even walking near it is very much worth it
D. D.
Walking to the top of the Dome optional but worth it. Amazing that Wren built this in 35 years. Mad that constructing the memorial to the Duke of Wellington inside took longer!
Internal photos taken sneakily as not allowed but hey... Who wouldn't?
Decor mostly plain compared to gothic cathedrals.
G.
Such an amazingly wonderful building. Stunning. I so enjoyed walking around. There are audio earphones included if you have time to see everything. Concession price is £17.50 which is steep but the building needs constant upkeep. The history is incredible. As usual there's a gift shop on the way out. Some items are reasonably priced. Loved my visit.
P. B.
Must visit place as its one of oldest building in London. One can have a really good view of the London skyline from top of the Cathedral Dome.
S. I.
Sad to say whispering turret was closed but beautiful place was rather pricey. I'm on a low income and struggle to pay for things like this sad to say. My grandad helped to save this when it caught fire during the blitz
D. S.
Magnificent architecture ,beautiful paintings, The most awesome Cathedral I have ever seen.!!!!
Standing in the midst of it all you can feel the awesomeness of everything that is. God
E. W.
There is tremendous history here for sure, but in retrospect I don't know if it is worth the steep 17 GBP (about $22) entry price. It is a beautiful big space and a big crypt to explore (we did not have time to go up to the dome), but if pressed for time, I would opt for other more spectacular and unique sights in London to visit. We had the free 30 minute tour and the three guides might have been new at the job, as they were hesitating and a bit fumbling and mumbling. Download Rick Steves free Audio Europe App for a more engaging and interesting tour!
H. M.
A wonderful cathedral. Massive expansive space which words can hardly describe. It is a must see in London. There is a crypt in the basement as well as the museum shop, a small restaurant and a tea room. Plan on taking a guided tour. You have a choice of a quick tour (one-half hour) or an extensive tour (1.5 hours). The total experience should be 1.5 to 3 hours. Wear comfortable shoes as there is lots of walking on hard surfaces.
R. S.
I was absolutely amazed by fantastic tour. I am not native speaker but the man was just excellent and I learned a lot about history. I wish all the guided tour would have such a quality. And you must climb into the top of the tower, amazing views all around, and you don't need to wait in the queue as at London Eye.
A. D.
This place is magical! Place to admire an amazing work of art. Spend lots of time walking around in admiration. Ticket price included entry to The Crypt- worth a visit!
M. C.
This is a great place for tourists, they do tours of the cathedral, you can book the tickets online on their website I think. The structure of this historical Cathedral is beautiful, photographers should take a lot of pictures of this place. This place isn't just good for tourists, us locals can enjoy this place just as much. There's a nice seating area in the court yard of the cathedral where you can sit and relax and enjoy your lunch.
T. S.
Highly recommend to go ALL the way up to the top. What is 526 stairs when compared to the history, architecture, and catacombs? what isn't to love? All are welcome
J. S.
528 steps to the top of St Paul's Cathedral
T. K. [. f.
We were walking around the street and St. Paul’s Cathedral caught our eyes. The building is a heritage on its own with complicated sculpture and architecture design. The second best historical building in London after Westminster abbey. There is ticketing to the cathedral and audio guide too. There are plenty of steps to climb and not recommended for those who are afraid of heights.
M. K. J.
This is one of the must visit place in London. It's very fascinating. There's a ticket to visit inside, bit 8n my opinion it's not really necessary. You can visit from outside. see from rooftops is stunning and unique. And the gardens arroun the Cathedral are very nice if you visit in a good season. Overall it is always a very pleasant visit.
B. d. L.
Stunning cathedral with great history, architecture is amazing and the sheer size makes this simply a masterpiece. However the £18 entry fee is very costly so only enter when you have enough time to get the best out of your money. The cathedral is a few stops away from London Tower and Tower Bridge so you can mix it up on your trip. Good luck.
K. W.
Beautiful. A must see when visiting London. They have a staircase leading to the roof of the building where you can a good view of the city landscape.
S. F.
I always feel despondent when the House of God charges an entrance fee, but I fully understand why it does. This place is full of history, its architecture is stunning and it's inner tranquility comes through even when busy. It's a fantastic place and well worth a visit. So why not 5 stars? The lift is not available to the public to access the gallery. As my wife is disabled it meant we couldn't access the higher levels but still had to pay the full fee. The lift does go up to the gallery levels but for some reason is not available to the public.
A. M.
St Paul's Cathedral looks magical at night. I've never seen St Paul's Cathedral at night from the outside. The lighting around the cathedral was so bright that everything looked bright around it.
It was the first time me, lil sister and my twins went out at night.
A trip to the inside of the Cathedral is a must in the Summer hols.
a. s.
A beautiful cathedral with impressive history attached to it. We though of spending 45 mins in the cathedral but ended up being there for close to two hours. Visit early and also do visit the top (quite a few stairs needed to be climbed but the view from the top is worth it)
D. J. M. L.
Gorgeous building full of historical elements, from religious so scientific, for example the moon landing remembrance window. Try to attend a mass here and enjoy the real experience. Worth to climb to the top to see the 360 views
R. P.
Amazing cathedral and stunning view over London City. A must see!
L. B.
Ever since I was little I wanted to go visit this beautiful building. The moment set eyes on it in real life was breathtaking. Make sure you pick up the audio headphones because there is sooooooo much interesting information. There are many areas to the cathedral and you will need at least 90 minutes if not more if you decide to climb to the top. There are 528 steps that get narrow the higher you go. Take a steady pace and you can get there, the view of London is worth it. The crypt is also full of interesting facts and tombs, the most exciting being Horatio Nelson. I fantastic piece of architecture and engineering that has lasted the thick and thin of London life all these years
A. E.
St Pauls Cathedral is worth a visit, but the entry fee is a quite high. Also they will not let you take photos inside, whereas you can at other religious 'attractions' (St. Peter's Basilica, Vatican City, The Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi for example). Also the aforementioned places have no entry fee.
B.
St. Paul's Cathedral is the largest cathedral in England and one of the most important attractions in London. Its dome, which is the second largest in the world, only surpassed by that of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, can be seen from great distances and has long made a permanent impression on the in the minds and memories of millions who have visited over the years.
Historically, there have been cathedrals dedicated to St. Paul, which have stood on these grounds for over 1000 years and the history of the Cathedral has been deeply intertwined with that of the nation during the past millennium. It has served to host important processions, funerals and other State affairs for many centuries. It has also became a symbol of the indomitable spirit of the nation during the 20th century, having miraculously surviving the bombing raids which devastated much of the city during the 1940s.
The present Cathedral that you can see and visit today was designed and built by one of Britain's great architects, Sir Christopher Wren between 1675 and 1710, after the Great Fire of 1666 destroyed the previous Cathedral as well as much of the city. Wren applied his knowledge of Italian architecture in the design of St. Paul's cathedral, which wasn't particularly popular during that day and age, but resulted in a building of unique grandeur, which can been visited and seen today.
St. Paul's Cathedral is impressive from a scale perspective and is an enjoyable building to walk around. The Western front, featuring a classic portico, a Romanesque pediment above the entrance and two large towers, backed by the cathedral dome, creates an imposing image when approaching the Cathedral from the west.
Within St. Paul's you will find a large, cross-shaped nave with numerous columns and generally a somewhat modest design compared to it's European contemporaries. Some of the highlights for us are the delicately carved choir seating, grand organ and a high alter area. However, the most beautiful thing to see is the ornate and impressive ceiling mosaics featured in Dome and Quire area of the nave.
In the crypt you can see the tombs of famous figures like General Lord Nelson, Lord Wellington and Sir Christopher Wren. These are nice to see and worth your time if you are interested in historical English figures.
Further, the dome includes up close views of the ceiling mosaics and frescos as well as nice views back down into the Cathedral ground floor area. Views from the Whispering and Stone Galleries are quite impressive and from the top, Golden Gallery, you can look out over the city of London, which is a nice perk for those who make their way to this top gallery level.
In the end, the entry fee to St. Paul's Cathedral is quite pricey, especially compared to similar large-scale cathedrals you might visit throughout Europe. However, there is important history tied to the Cathedral and it is an impressive and impossible building and many will want to enter and see during their trip to London.
Tip: For those who don't wish to pay the steep fee to enter St. Paul's, it is still worth finding the Cathedral and having a look from the outside or at least from a distance. You can see it very clearly from Southwark and the take nice photos which will include the dome of St. Paul's Cathedral from the Millennium Bridge on both sides of the River Thames.
Z. B.
Probably my favorite sight that we saw when in London. The interior of the Cathedral was amazing, and making the climb up to the top was 100% worth the 521 stairs you have to climb.
M. A. F.
Built by the most famous architect of England Sir Wrens who built most of London after the great Blaze of 1666...one of the biggest Cathedrals i ever seen...the height is spectacular inside especially the great Dome and the mosaics are a piece of art...too bad no phots allowed inside...some interresting personalities are burried at the site...if you are lucky you will see the Choir singing. Its quiet an experience nice voices and almost magical....
A. C.
Amazing walk. Start here and then walk across the millennium bridge and go east on the river stunning 2 hr walk till you hit Tower of London.
G. D.
One of the best experiences in my life. The Cathedral is very beatiful, and the way to the top of the cupola is fantastic. You have an extraordinary view on the city.
M. L.
Very nice and visible from every angle. Not really a fan of this kind of architecture, so the 4 stars are just for my taste. Anyway, really nice spot for photography, especially by night with nice results.
P.
I nice tourist attraction of which decently priced.A nice piece of history for majority of ages. Climbing the steps(528 of them!) Can get very tiring but worth the view of the city. I recommend anyone wanting to climb up bring a water bottle and take your time. It's most likely you'll need around 3 to 4 hours to see most of the cathedral
C. D.
One of the most beautiful buildings that I have seen. The audio guides are useful. The architecture is amazing.
D. S.
The cathedral is beautiful and huge. Take the audio guide - it provides interesting informatiin. It is possible to climb up and get a wonderful view of the city. The way up is not easy anyway.
P. E.
One of the most beautiful cathedral in London I love the every bit of this place because they are architecture so perfectly, and the view from the top of the cathedral is eye pleasing.
M. E.
I found Bill Viola's work unpleasant. Seeing "martyrs" (or people dying by suicide) can be a trigger for many. Other than that, the Cathedral is amazing and the staff lovely! Tha ks

One of the most important religous places of London and UK. Its architecture, history and art make of this place a deserved visit.
T. T.
A magnificent Cathedral smack bang in the middle of office blocks. It has a viewing platform inside and above which can be accessed via a purchased ticket.
J. C.
Very informative tour with the Guide who knew a lot of details. Amazing Cathedral, designed by the same architect as the Cathedral in my home town, Liverpool: Sir Christopher Wren.

528 Steps....
to the top was one of the highlights of our trip. Beauty and history, well worth your time. Allow 3 hours minimum. Bucket list, checked.

Very nice religious place in Central London. There is entrance fee for tourism and if it is for a religious event, entry is free. You will get a very good view of the cathedral if you stand in the millennium Bridge.

A must see on your visit to London. Highly recommend purchasing tickets to get in and getting to see the whole thing. Upstairs, downstairs, main floor, all of it. We ended up downloading the Rick Steve’s app on our phone and listening to his free audio tour of this Cathedral. Totally worth it. Very informative and lots of information that we would have missed. We stayed for their 5 o’clock service that evening and got to sit in the choir up front where the lamps are. Listened to some amazing choir music.
I.
It is a grand church, quite large with an interesting history. From the ancient Roman foundations to the way that the church was designed and built to shreds even though they had been rejected by the king and the church, through to the way the volunteers saved the church from fire and bombings during WW2
P. G.
St Paul's Survives. Many photos are etched in the British public consciousness of the Blitz. In my mind none more so than the famous dome of St Paul's rising through the thick smoke of razed buildings after another brutal incendiary Luftwaffe raid. Kept intact by good fortune and courageous fire watching volunteers. An icon then, historically and culturally symbolic. I'm not a religious person but everyone can appreciate the impressive architecture and condition of the building today. If you are fit and able you must ascend 378 steps to the spacious external Stone Gallery and sightsee London from above. Another 150 tight and twisting steps reveal the secrets of the inner dome structure completing the journey to the highest point, the Golden Gallery. You may face a long queue since the Golden Gallery itself is small, but here you have a superb 360 degree panoramic view of the city. Worth the effort and wait? Yes.
M. L.
Wonderful! We loved Staying Paul's and our visit was made really special by Elaine our tour guide. So knowledgeable and entertaining, respectful but not stuffy.
I. T.
£20 entrance fee for adults which gives you access to the whole Cathedral and audio guide. No photos allowed inside.
Good fitness level required to get to the top as there is about 500 steps, most of which is through a narrow walkway. The lift only goes down and is from halfway point only.
Beautifully maintained and worth a visit.
D. R. M.
Praying is peace. As the saying goes. Very. Peaceful environment. Comfortable to reach by bus. Cathedral closes by 4:00. Make sure to be in before e that. Beautiful architecture.
M.
Make sure to arrive at the top of the hour for a free guided tour it's worth it vs one of those headphones audio tours as you get special access with the guides tour also plan for 2hours as it's very in depth... If your out of shape, sick or old age take your time walking up to the gallery views as it's not worth stressing your heart out walking up the steps with a fast pace
S. J.
A beautiful well maintained place of worship. The summer lates is the best possible time to visit. Would definitely recommend going all the way up to Golden gallery to have a fantastic view of London.
Z. A.
An amazing night view and must be visited at night time to see the white beautiful building.
L.
A must see on any visit to London. I did the evening summer nights session
Stunning. Just do the tower as soon as you get in, or you'll be queuing.
A. S.
Beautiful church, but not worth the admission charge. So much for gods house free to all !
H.
Well worth a trip, wait for one of the guided tours and well as you will learn a lot about the history of the cathedral. It is worth a climb to the top of the dome as well, for those not faint of heart!
R. F.
Incredible place to visit, be sure to give yourself plenty of time to take it all in. We were there for around 2 hours and visited the Crypt and the galleries on the upper levels. The walk up the stairs to the galleries is a killer but well worth it to see magnificent views of London. Try and time your climb up to the stone and golden galleries in time for sunset for those amazing photos.

Been to London so many times and yet until today never been inside. Great experience especially the chance to climb all the way to the top of the dome. Fantastic views across London. Also the crypt was good it holds the tombs of both Nelson and Duke of Wellington as well as others. Well worth a visit.

Masterpiece of Art and history!! It’s ‘Beautiful’ beyond limits, have no words to explain. Just sit there and mesmerise its beauty!! Walking distance from Tate Modern. Only regret, couldn’t go inside.
J. L.
A beautiful and ornate cathedral, built to bring glory unto God. Also contains many historical references and points of interest. Well worth the visit.
P. U.
Very nice cathedral. This cathedral is one of the most famous and most recognisable sights of London. Don’t forget to visit the underground crypt of St Paul’s Cathedral to pay respect to famous people like Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, Alexander Fleming, who discovered penicillin and many more.
A. B.
Believe or not this building has been around longer than me and probably after me as well. This world recognised building is a must to visit even just to wander past. It is always very busy so if you hate crowds best to avoid
L. T.
Must London be advertised? I do not think so. Here is one of the places that symbolize the capital of Great Britain. It can be crowded, traffic is not low, but the cathedral is worth seeing, preferably by going through the Millennium Bridge.
J. P.
A must visit place. Construction is amazing. Entry is free but if you want to visit the top part whispering gallery crypt etc you need to take the ticket which will cost you twenty pounds. But it’s worth spending. There is a wow factor in each and everything in this church. It is a key to open the door to lot of historical informations. Divine atmosphere gives serenity in our minds. Also the view from the top of the staple is just amazing. We can watch the London from here. You will be giving a video guide device also which will describe everything.
S. N.
One of the most beautiful cathedral in the World. The indoor sculptures, wall paintings, the building itself - everything is amazing. It's £18 to get in but well worth it. You need about 2 hours to see everything. You can see the whole of the central London from the stone gallery of St Paul's Cathedral. I really recommend it!
D. A.
The dome experience is incredible. Some of the best views in London. Plus the building is magnificent inside.
A. S.
Absolutely beautiful Cathedral, English barocco architecture, located in the city center. Life hack if you have a London pass, or pre booked tickets, don't have to stay in the que, which is quiet long. Single adult entry is 20 GBP. Always crowded and noisy with tourists. Well recommended for a visit while in London. Enjoy England
S. S.
Came for the family Christmas carols. Great atmosphere and highly entertaining. Despite not arriving early enough to secure a seat we were allowed to stand at the back and a steward helped my disabled nan find a free seat. Next year we will try and join the queue a little earlier.
H. A.
St. Paul is a Architectural magic not only outside as the interior is a marvelous. I have spent a whole day there yet it is not enough to go through all the details. The organizers/ security are so friendly. I have been caught by the every single details and especially the view of London at the top of the church(not to mention the exhorted effort to climb the stairs and go up and then down again).
M. V.
Highly recommended independent of the creed! It is a piece of the history of the world, presenting beautiful art works. You can know more about all the details with the audio guide you receive in the entrance. Be prepared to step up to the stone and Golden galleries.. the best part of the visit!!!
c. h.
Great to walk up the 500+ steps to the top of the dome. Interesting place.

This stunning cathedral the masterpiece of the famous architect Sir Christopher Wren is magnificent. It’s amazing to think it avoided destruction during the blitz although an unexplored bomb apparently dropped through the cupola and ended up near the altar and brave fire fighters were removing incendiary bombs from the fabric. The area around the cathedral was also laid waste by additional incendiary bombs. The cathedral was designed to replace the original building destroyed in the great fire of 1666 and building commenced in 1667 and took 38 years to complete quite an achievement when you realise Cologne and Barcelona’s masterpieces took or are taking considerably longer. I didn’t have a chance to enter the cathedral but at night the flood lights makes a spectacular sight especially if you take the millennium footbridge across the river and look back for a photo call.

Well worth a visit very enjoyable few hours
P. B.
Divine and beautiful.. on Sunday the entry is free and you get to attend mass.. it is an experience of lifetime ... the whole cathedral radiates an energy that percolates through your skin and reach to your heart.. There are some amazing roses at the back of the cathedral... Please do spend time soaking in the beauty of the place
B.
What a beautiful and stunning cathedral.
There have Lord Horatio Viscount Nelson, know well as Battle of "Trafalgar" Crypt on the basement of this cathedral.
10/10

This is the most historical and grand building i’ve ever seen. It is much more than a cathedral; it’s a place where you i got inspired, where you feel the historical relevance and where some of the biggest revolutionaries are left to rest are are remembered, including kings, queens, poets, scientists and war heroes, and of course Christopher Wren himself.
There is an excellent tour guiding device including many stories and videos of the place. So you can spend there easily 5 hours withiut being bored for a second. The climb up to the top is a bit heavy, but it gives a stunning 360 view over the city.
I totally recommend to take at least half a day to visit st Paul’s!
T. D.
One of the best days out in London. Lovely monuments, great views if you climb to the top, good cafe.
F. T.
Outrageously beautiful. I'm the least religious person I know but you can visit this building and appreciate how awesome (in the true meaning of the word) it is without believing in any faith. The scale is something you can only appreciate when you're in the middle of it, breathtaking!
E. H.
Amazing place with good view on the high floor but there is a lot of staris, the price is 20£ on the place but at least it is included in the london pass and explorer
D. P.
Beautiful church, really nice staff, and a good audio tour
g. q.
An amazing guided tour really showed off the history and stories that are contained in this building. Definitely worth multiple trips, as there is so much to see. The views of London are spectacular
N. K.
Stunning cathedral! Definitely climb to the top, the view from up there is really good.
G. T.
Beautiful place to visit, it was much bigger inside than expected. The architecture is wonderful. The dome is well worth the climb, but be warned there are a lot of narrow steep steps
A. H.
I’ve lived in London for eight years but only just coughed up the entrance fee to visit the central icon. It’s definitely worth it, and there’s incredibly real and rich history in the crypt to explore too.
J. D.
Visited the mudlarking event and saw some amazing finds from the Thames foreshore. Very knowledgeable mudlarkers sharing hints and tips on what to look for and the history behind their finds. Well worth a visit. Oh and it's free.
H. (.
Beautiful and enormous structure located in the center of London. Sadly to get inside you have to pay about £17. You can also get inside for free (just to take a peek) almost every day at 5 PM when there is a choral evensong.
T. T.
Still one of the most if not the most beautiful building in central London.
I took advantage of free entry to the 18:00 service which was a great experience.
Truly a fantastic building and place of worship. I’m definitely going back.
S. M.
Beautiful, didn't go inside as didn't really embrace the £20 per person entrance fee but lovely to see it from the outside
D. R.
Buy tickets online prior to visit to receive a discount. Price includes a 1 hour guided tour - interesting and informative. Downside nowhere to store rucksack
P. J. H.
Although there are signs that say, free to enter, they won't let you in without a ticket; that includes an expensive audio guide.
Visiting here in early September 2020; you need a ticket to go in (even if a place is free), to monitor social distancing.
The cathedral was easy to find, and after a quick bag scan / search, your in the main body of the building. The audio guides are still being used, and are sanitised after each use.
Your online advanced ticket, with give you access to the spire. St Paul's Spire has 528 steps in all; but I could only do the 257 to the whispering gallery, and then the 119 to the stone gallery. The upper 152 to the golden gallery is blocked off.
You do the aisle and nave next and then the tomb vault last, with Admiral Nelson, Wellington etc...and exit that way.
C. Z.
Before going I saw a video on YouTube about the construction of the cathedral which allowed me to appreciate its architecture a lot more. It has so much history to it, the audio guide is very helpful and it is put nicely in sections according to the area you are in. Unfortunately when we went the Whispering Gallery was closed but still we managed to visit right up to the top. There is a disabled access from the South side which we saw by a passing by. It has a lift from which you can reach the crypt and the main floor of the cathedral, it has also access to the Whispering Gallery but at the time it was closed plus you can go further up before you start the narrower stairs to the following two galleries. We took the stairs which are very rested but there are many and once it becomes narrower they become steeper but not more than any normal set of stairs. If you struggle with small places and lots of steps then not recommended but still the crypt and the main floor of the cathedral (and the Whispering Gallery, if it's open) is enough to enjoy your visit.
a. g.
£20 to enter are worship place ? I get it that they don’t get public funding but a lower charge would motivate more low income people . Plus they are still charging full price on weekdays even though the gallery is closed ?
Not happy ..
A. T.
I had been before but this was the first time I climbed to the very top. You have to be very fit as there are hundreds of steps but the view is worth it. Staff where you buy the tickets need to be more helpful and polite. They are grim and unfriendly bordering on rude.
I. R.
Is It is a great and gorgeous place. Doors are gigantic and the cathedral itself is of some immense size. It costs 20 gbp to visit, yet sometimes you may get cheaper tickets by visiting orchestras and organ music. You may want to prebook the tickets. There is a perfect sunset filming spot near the crossroad.
J. L.
It was lovely to be part of the service on the day we visited.
A. S.
One visit is not enough. Its the most spectacular place.
T. S.
Unbelievable place to visit. Just take your time, as so much to see and absorb and learn. Very educational and historically phenomenal.
P. H.
Very cool building with lots of great history and art. I recommend walking to the top of the cathedral to get a great view of London. It is a lot of steps but well worth it. Also recommend taking a tour. Each tour guide can add his/her own flavor of details to mention and talk about
C.
Fabulous. Walked to the Golden gallery, well worth the 528 steps to see the view
A. G.
I was swept off my feet. If you do anything in London, visit St. Paul's. I stumbled on it by accident and ended up spending 3 hours inside. So enchanting and breathtaking. If your body allows it, do the climb to the golden gallery. It. Is. Worth. It.
L. V. G.
Nice grand cathedral . Giant dome which can be ascended on 3 levels . Whisper gallery gives you view on the cathedral floor. Next two levels take you outside the dome . Here you can enjoy a stunning London panorama . The narrow stairs that take you there require good hart condition. In the crypt you can see the tombs of Britain's finest , Nelson , Wellington , Montgomery etc. . Here you will find a fine cafeteria as well .
Entrance was 20 pounds .
I. S.
It is an excellent area of London (some modern some old) to walkabout or chill, plenty of snack places including Sainsbury's Local, small cafes as well. There is a nice falafel place there too. The Old Bailey is there too and also the new wobbly bridge and the famous steps leading upto it.
T. W.
St Paul's was closed for visitors on the Sunday when we went, but we sat in on a service, this was superb and experienced the beautiful architecture as well.
K. P.
Beautiful! Most exquisitely beautiful church I have ever been in. We went for 5:00 mass and I do not have a single regret. Attaching photo as bit they are not mi e because I respected the ask within the church--no photos allowed.
k. c.
Really cool. We walked all the way to the top. It wasn’t easy and people slowed us way down. But, once we got up there you couldn’t beat the views. Well worth the workout.
R. C.
Awe inspiring... not only on an emotional/religious level but architecturally astonishing. The crypts contain the resting place of some of England's most notable historical figures that shaped the fabric of the "Union Jack".
J. V.
Probably my favorite Cathedral. Perfectly located right in the heart of the city. It is an icon of the London skyline. Absolutely beautiful architecture. Hiking all the stairs to the top of the dome is a must! Gorgeous views.
I definitely suggest taking a tour. Well worth it as there is so much to learn about this building. Must see!
A. W.
Big and empty. Lovely walls. Nice crypt. Nelson's tomb very impressive
L. B.
A very special spiritual place of worship not only for Christians.
Check out their Sunday talks or series of lectures-details on the website.
Wonderful concerts,often free of charge.
J. A.
Pre purchase tickets online to save money and avoid long lines. The climb to the top involved a lot of narrow winding stairs but it was worth it for the view.
C. V.
This was by far the best tour we have done in London. Bring your walking shoes and allow maybe 3 hours to see it all. I would advise to also take the free guided tour before you take the audio guide and go about on your own.
Highly recommend this one.
J. E.
I had no idea it was £20 to get into St Paul's Cathedral but was glad to find a small prayer Chapel which you could go in to for free. This was right next to the reception area which could get quite noisy and given the proximity to the prayer area could be distracting.
j. m.
Historical church you have to visit when you visit London
Great place to spend 1 to 2 hours going around will not be disappointed
D. Z.
In exciting experience seeing the might of British empire combined with Christian religion in one magnificent building
G. L.
Loving it , but if you have a kid with you you might need to be careful when you access the top level as it is quite steep going down
N. C.
Unfortunately you can access panoramic views only on a Saturday. Didn't know this and was a big disappointment. Still an amazing place to see and a good hour spent there.
L. Y.
The cathedral is amazing
Day or night it’s huge
Never been inside but from outside already it’s really nice
The best way to take pics is to be in a bus passing around of it
You can have really go view of the all building
J. (.
Beautiful architecture and a great spot to visit in London. A bit crowded of course but what isn't in London. Definitely worth the stop. Didn't wait in line or pay to go inside
S. B.
The Cathedral is an inviting place to worship, experience significant art and architecture and to see a bit of history. If you are inclined, the 7:30 am Sunday Service is a really unique experience. Because that is attended by mostly locals to the area, the congregation is small and sits in the choir area during the Service. That provides a special perspective of the Cathedral itself - not one you would have a chance to otherwise see. Make sure to check the exact Service schedule for the day you visit.
Overall, you can have a great experience with a short stop-in or a longer visit. The climb up the Dome to elevated viewing areas is worth the time.
U. K.
Definitely part of the top 10 places to visit in London. Atting a service is recommended and so is a walk in the crypt and whispering gallery.
D. A.
Very informative audio tour of the Cathedral. Stunning mosaics on the ceiling. Participated in the 12.30 Eucharistic celebration which was lovely. Crypt is worth a visit.
F.
Really nice Cathedral! The views from the dome are awesome, you will get really nice pictures from London. Lots of stairs, if you don't have condition definitely this will won't be easy :).
S. S.
Beautiful. The majestic St. Paul's Cathedral is one of the largest and most significant cathedrals in the world. It is the scene of many important state ceremonies. Even Princess Diana gave Prince Charles in the episcopal church the yes-word. The imposing cathedral is located about 300 meters north of the River Thames in the district of The City. Architecturally, the cathedral is an absolute masterpiece both inside and out.
H. O.
Great architecture and even more amazing view from the top. Just a little bit overpriced and way to many stairs but yet very much worth it xx
A. D.
Loved the architecture and the vastness, only thing if the prices of sightseeing would be lowered and also photographs would be allowed that would be an icing on the cake. Would love to visit again.
M. R. B.
The cathedral is a beautiful experience. The audio tour guides you through various parts of the cathedral at your own pace and also grants access to the whispering galleries in the dome. There are also free guided tours (check schedule). The tickets are well worth it.
The service is free to attend. The tickets just let you see more of the church with a very educational guide.
If you're able to, do take the chance to climb the 227 stairs to the whispering galleries. The view is like no other.
Also, stop to see the Mary and Martyr digital media exhibits. They are intriguing and tug at your heart.
Truly wonderful experience!
D. L.
Wonderful place to visit, full of history. Great views over London if you can manage the stairs.
A.
Spectacular reverence.Historically rich. If you're lucky, the boys choir will be practicing.
C. D.
Was actually a lot more interesting than I thought it would be. Do get the audio guide which is included with your entrance fee as it really helps and has stuff to keep the kids occupied like find where the photo is. We ended up spending a couple of hours here. Be prepared for steps if you want to see the best view from the top. Pro tip - If you didn't pre book your ticket online and the pay at the door queue is long then you can buy online on your phone and get straight in.
M. J.
Went to Bishops Entronement Service so entry was free, thankfully, because the fee seems very high for visitors.
V. S. (.
Another place well worth visiting. Saint Paul's is great and if you have the leg power and stomach for it, go up all the 300 something stairs. You won't regret the view.
V. “. L.
The best view of St. Paul's Cathedral is at One New Change, the mall around the corner. Go up the top level and get a good view of the Cathedral, plus The Shard in the distance
W. T.
Outstanding architecture, you cannot help but look at this building and be in complete awe of it's splendor. It has a lovely café and shop, I often take a quick break here whilst in London. I thoroughly enjoyed attending midnight mass, so worth the wait in the queue. A truly thought provoking sermon and a moving service, the choir were just stunning to listen too.
p. h.
How can one rate God's house? I am certainly worthy. We attended a Sunday service with choir.
l. a. g.
I didn't get to join the guided tour but upon entering the Cathedral already wowed me. It is definitely a must-see in London. The security personnel are thorough but courteous.
E. B.
Loved the Christmas Carol rehearsals. We'll have to come back. So much to see and enjoy.
T. K.
Beautiful architecture. You can sit on a bench and enjoy the beauty of the design. Really a treat for everybodys eyes.
S. P.
Such a magnificent building. Full of beautiful art. Prepare to spend some good time in here. When you're done with sightseeing on the ground floor you can climb to the top. That's going to make you sweat. The view is definitely worth the climb.
W. K.
A magnificent and stunning piece of structural art both interior and exterior, be warned that you're not allowed to take photos inside so a little stealth and caution is required to capture your memories. Do not forget to climb up to the whispering gallery and also the golden gallery which are both worth the climb!! (warning : it is abit of a climb so be prepared).
Entry per adult is 18 pounds and if you have the time, come around 2-3pm, explore the cathedral and stay for the service which starts at 5pm!
H. H.
Sublime! The most beautiful mosaic ceiling I have ever seen. Unfortunately no picture allowed inside. But the top of the dome gives a great paranoid view of London. We also stay for the service at 5, which is of course free and open to everyone.
G. M.
Full of history - the tour guide was very knowledgeable. The 360 view from the top of the cathedral was breathtaking.
J. R. W.
One of our favourite London venues, we went for the afternoon Christmas carols and what an amazing venue to hear them sung in truely spectacular <3
Z. A. J.
the architecture and art is impressive. Long way to the top of the dome with hundreds of steps, not elevators, but try to get there the view is worth it.
D. A.
This is a wonderful cathedral well worth a visit on any trip to London. It was the tallest building in London until 1967. It is still a working church but there is a fee for tourists to look around.
E. S.
It's beautiful, majestic, a must see. My daughter had very nice school trip there.
E. M.
The best day out. I thoroughly enjoyed my tour with Vivien. She was so knowledgeable and kep her audience enthralled.
D. S.
Iconic location of Royal Weddings and burial place to some of the most important people in our history a fantastic place to visit.
A. P.
Fantastic, well worth a visit if in London, view from the top of the Cathedral is stunning..take your time and adsorb the history..
