Reviews of The Royal Military Chapel (The Guards’ Chapel)
Beautiful little chapel. Nice for a short stop. Plenty of history found there. Stopped in before watching the guard line up and head for the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace.
A MUST to visit. Full of HISTORY and it's FREE, a donation will be welcome but not necessary. I through recommend a visit.
A group of MG Owners Club members and friends took the opportunity to go to the Festival of Lessons and Carols at this establishment on Sunday 5th December. The event was absolutely excellent with the military band playing a selection of Christmas songs and music. It was marvellous and I would certainly jump a the chance to re-visit if the opportunity arose again. Wonderful!!
Nice chapel and has got wheelchair access, but not signed posted and guard had to ask
SSAFA Carol Concert was superb
Never been before: went for a lunchtime concert given by the Royal Guard of Oman Military Band. There is a museum next door. The Chapel was totally destroyed during WW2 during a service, many fatalities.
Combat Stress Carol Service December 21.
Choir, Band and readings all wonderfully preformed.
The Guards Chapel is a church located near St. James Park and is the religious home of the Household Division, one of the elite foot devisions of the British Army. It's a beautiful church. especially the alter with it's golden mosaic of biblical scenes. Each of the foot regiments is honoured with a chapel, one each for the Grenadier Guards, the Coldstream Guards, the Scots Guards, the Irish Guards, and the Welsh Guards.
It a serene church and an honour to visit and see the battle standards of the Foot Guards hung on the walls. Worth visiting especially when combined with a visit to the Guards Museum next door.
It's a very nice place for an original Sunday service. It has a choir and a full military band to provide some excellent music, as well as a very interesting history and interior. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and the coffee/biscuits served after the service.
A beautiful chapel, don't miss it if you are in the area.
