We did not plan to visit but stumbled across this place on a wet and windy afternoon. Kate, a volunteer here welcomed us in and was more than happy to share her encyclopaedic knowledge of the chapel, and its history. None of us were religious people but we still thoroughly enjoyed our very educational visit and came away with a deep respect for John Wesley and the Methodist ethos. This isn't just a place for methodists to visit and they do really welcome everyone. Highly recommend spending an hour or so here if you are in the area.

If you visit London this is a "must see" place! Especially if you are a Christian there is so much to learn from the pioneer of Methodism, John Wesley. We were really privileged to be invited on a tour with a guide, a lovely lady who works in this place without whom the visit would be very short and poor. But her knowledge about history and the person of John Wesley brought many things to life. The house where Wesley lived in the last years of his life is so rich in history not just church or Methodist history but the English way of life during those years. So even for those studying history this is a place to visit because it has many things to learn from. John Wesley is one of the heroes of Christian faith and his life of dedication is an example for many. He lived on 20 % of his income and gave 80% for the Kingdom of God. Not many live by these standards today.They find it difficult to give the tenth to God! His life of prayer and study is an excellent example what humble dedication to God can achieve. I havent put many photos so that you get encouraged to visit.Make sure you ask for a guide. It will be much more interesting to you with someone explaining places around. The museum of Methodism is near by so be prepared for a few hours in this place. There is a graveyard opposite the Wesley house.Some famous people were burried there including John Bunyan (Author of Pilgrim's progress- one of the classics of English literature) I truly recommend this place...I hope you enjoy it as much as I did...

This is a great place to visit when exploring London. John Wesley house is also open arms has some culturally and religiously interesting items and settings to see. The chapel is exceptionally beautiful with glass paintings and wooden decor. The museum has various historically valuable and significant inhibits as well as video presentation. All in all a great experience.

Contains considerable original fabric, artefacts and information regarding the movement and formative leadership. Attractive Georgian buildings in good state of maintenance. You rarely learn much about Methodism at school, college or University, and this Chapel and Museum is a great way to find out more about this fascinating group. Naturally the site portrays the positives of their Foundation well, and shows Wesley to have been a compassionate and very charitable man. A great museum, one that doesn't bore but instead inspires - using storytelling, video content and a good (but thankfully modest) amount of displays. Well laid out, it's a good museum for an afternoon visit, that shows the very interesting history of Methodism and it's founders visionary approach.

Lovely chapel and house. Tour guide was very friendly and showed us the basement where you can see some extra items! Free and with good quality souvenirs. The church is actually still open but was not having a service when I was there. You can stand on Wesley's original pulpit which was amazing. The garden and graveyard opposite were so peaceful and green even though it is so central. Highly recommend.

Great historic church very much involved in the community. They have a wide itinerary including Sunday service and more Boy's Brigade is held here every Tuesday evening at 6:30pm. Both girls and boys are welcomed. Children from 5 to 18 years learn through games, arts and crafts, trips, cooking, etc. Their accomplishments are celebrated with rewards and badges

Recently booked a room here. Staff where great and really professional couldn't fault them at all. The actual room it's self was run down and not in the best shape. Would like to see some upgrades at some point to be able to give a 5 star 🌟

Was visiting the graveyard across the road when I saw a sign advertising a free lunchtime concert so crossed the road. With 15 minutes to wait it was suggested I go downstairs and look at the museum. The concert was excellent (Niklas Oldemeier, a young up-and-coming pianist) and lasted nearly an hour. On completion I was asked if I'd like a free personal tour of Wesley's House - which was well worth it. Don't forget to have a visit to the Victorian toilets on the site.

Come here semi regularly for the Thursday lunchtime service, and always interesting topics discussed in the minister's sermon. Building itself is also very beautiful, although generally I've been in a rush, so not seen much more than the chapel itself.

It was awesome and spiritually fulfilling to worship with the Wesley Chapel, City Road today. It felt like a heaven on earth. I had the opportunity of sharing fellowship as well with the Ying Adults team led by Sally who wereso a weapon. It was a great pleasure with Andrew Robert, the author of Holy Habits sharing insights about the book and his inspiration as well.

Special Christmas event. Costumed for Wesley's era. Maid servant with lantern at the gate to light your way in. Cooks with lavender biscuits etc to try, singing with lute & flutes & Mr Wesley himself to meet. A really enjoyable step back in time to Christmas past.

While every Methodist should make this pilgrimage, anyone would reap the vast historical role that this place represents. John Wesley is credited with the methodical bible study, dedication to helping the poor, ill, and imprisoned that became the United Methodist church. This homesite is a living example of daily life in that time, reenactors were on the grounds during my visit, fascinating. He wrote a medical book and made an invention, he was a reader and promoted practical ideas for living and worship. Radical in his day, his role in improving life in London is minimized below his church work but his influence is far reaching. See the small chapel and the relics that reflect the values of anti-slavery, family, and community that still apply today. Ask questions, take photos, pick up pamphlets, learn in a beautiful, peaceful setting in the hustle and bustle of London.

I attended this church for 3 months when I stayed at Premier Inn. I’ve seen choirs from States visiting on many Sundays. The Pastor noticed me visiting and chat with me many times asking me where I’m from. When I told him I’m from Singapore, he told me he actually stayed in Singapore in 1960/70s . An unbelievably nice Pastor but there not many assistant Pastors and he seemed to be working alone. In my Singapore Faith Methodist Church we had 5 pastors and numerous staff to help out. A very memorable visit to a church where John Wesley started his work. His body is buried in a nearby cemetery!

Absolutely fantastic Church and museum to visit. Part of my family were Methodists so this is a very interesting place for me. Everyone one is very friendly and welcoming and I have determined to go back and spend at least 4 hours up there and really absorb everything there. I can't say I found this place stimulating in any way. OK, it's in very good condition and well looked after but it seems to lack warmth and character - a bit like like a crematorium chapel.They've 'internationalised' any personality out of it with all the flags.

Fascinating museum in the basement illustrating the origins and foundations of Methodism. The floor is made of the burial slabs from the old graveyard with the inscriptions still legible. Most graves were relocated but there are still some gravestones left in the garden, mainly of important Methodists including John Wesley's tomb. The Chapel is a stunning example of the non-conformist architectural style with an enormous wrap-around balcony. Across the courtyard is John Wesley's House which has been fabulously re-created as it was in the 18th century just as he would have known it. Guided tours are available. Access is free and because it is little known usually quiet and peaceful. Cross the road to Bunhill Fields cemetery to see how graveyards looked in the 18th century and the graves of famous locals.

This interesting spot on City Road contains the chapel where the founder of Methodism, John Wesley, did much of his preaching, as well as the home that he occupied for much of his life. If you're interested in religion then this place should really be on your list of places to visit. One thing to note - oddly, visiting hours are very limited on Sundays.

WONDERFUL CHURCH WITH GREAT STAINED GLASS WINDOWS COMBINED WITH MODERN STAINED GLASS WINDOW ART. FABULOUS SURPRISE. LOTS OF ARCHITECTURE AND AND NUMEROUS STAINED GLASS THROUGHOUT. CAN GET BUSY EVEN WITH 10 VISITORS, BUT THERE ARE GUIDED TOURS OR YOU CAN JUST CHILL OUT IN THE AMBIENCE OF THE BUILDING. STAFF ARE POLITE AND BUSY, BUT WILLING TO ANSWER QUESTIONS.

Excellent experience in the history of Methodism. Highly recommond the 11 am worship service on Sunday, which follows with a tour of the 200+ year old sanctuary, muesum and parsonage where John Wesley lived the last 10 years of his life.

Beautiful church with John Wesley buried in the graveyard at the back. The other side of Bunhill Fields Cemetery is the Quaker Meeting House where George Fox the founder of the Quakers is buried. How well would Wesley & Fox have got on? William Blake is buried in Bunhill Fields Cemetery.

Decoder ring: John Wesley's home and new visitors center built underground the Methodist Chapel. Allow about 2 hours to soak up super interesting and well hidden Methodist center. If you arrive early tour Bunhill Fields park and cemetery small but large history (Robinson Crusoe author Daniel Defoe and more are buried here). The Travelodge near by is a good one.

The chapel has some of London's finest historical toilets: eight of Thomas Crapper's Valveless Waste Preventers, installed in 1899. You can sneak in and just use the loo - they're on the right as you enter.
