Thanks for a very fun and entertaining escape room. We did the cursed carnival which was not too easy but relatively straight forward and a great one to start on. Some good surprises and props. Very good support from staff member who was really friendly and gave help when needed. Looking forward to visiting again!

Such good fun! We came back recently with our 9 and 6 year olds and the room was difficult enough that we felt challenged but not too hard that our kids were frustrated or unable to solve the puzzles. The staff were really lovely and friendly too! Highly highly recommend.

We took our kids, aged 13 and 8 today after they'd been asking to do an escape room for a while. I chose the easiest room according to the room descriptions, the Carnival room, which was perfect as newbies to the concept. We managed to break out with 10 minutes left on the clock and with a few hints at the right moments from our host, Conrad who was a really lovely guy and a credit to Breakout Manchester. We made a last minute plan whilst in Manchester and did "Vacancy" escape room at Breakout. Our hostess was fantastic, guagued how much help we needed and how much of an introduction to give us on escape rooms generally. The puzzles in the room were great, and our hostess was attentive throughout, monitoring our progress, which is more than can be said for some escape rooms who juggle multiple rooms at once. Overall we had a great experience, just what we were looking for to have some fun and engage brains for an hour. Only thing I'd say, (although it doesnt affect overall 5* rating) we turned up a little bit late as we had gone to Breakout's other venue first, not realising that there are two basically both on church street (didn't bode well for our detective skills in a escape room haha😀 ). The other venue had yet to open, so we stood about for a bit ringing the bell before realising that something was amiss... Might be helpful to put something in bold on the email for numpties like us?

We visited as a family with 3 children (youngest 9, eldest 13) and played the detective room. Letting the kids lead as much as possible, they were really engaged and loved the puzzles. It was a great activity for working together and enjoying the family interaction. The Breakout staff were nice and supported us with just the right amount of clues to keep us moving but also feel as though we were in control. I would have no hesitation in booking again.

This was my first experience of an escape room and it was brilliant! I wasn't sure what to expect but the staff were very friendly and great at explaining what would happen, which put my mind at ease. The room itself was a lot of fun and really made us think! We'll definitely be back again soon, fun for all the family!

We had the best time and the hour felt like 5 minutes. It was either going to end in success or divorce and fortunately we got out. A well constructed puzzle and plenty to think about, I haven't had this much fun in ages. The staff were pleasant and very helpful and really surprised that we finished in time which was nice. Brilliant experience! We did the sabotage room (one of their hardest) as a group of 3 newbies and it was excellent. We didn't manage to escape but we had loads of fun trying. Probably wouldn't recommend such a difficult room as your first if you're new to escape rooms, but the easier/moderate ones had all been booked up and we were desperate to give it a go! Definitely recommend to anyone looking for something fun to do as a group.

Really fun day at this Escape Room, my brother wanted to go for his birthday so we did and I was actually impressed - have since gone to another escape room because this one was so impressive but this was definitely the better one out of the two I've been to! Best escape room I’ve done by far. With a team of 3, we didn’t make it out and still had about 4 puzzles to crack when the buzzer sounded - this made it far more satisfying than being finished within 40 minutes as I have experienced at other escape rooms. We also didn’t get loads of help so really felt challenged. Would 100% go back.

My favourite escape room venue. Rooms are very challenging. Staff is super engaging and supportive. Should you need any hints the staff and always on hand to help. The rooms have excellent scenarios. Great. Would highly recommend.

Had a great time here, booked a slot in online and had an absolute blast. We did a 5* room on our first go, the puzzles were tough but fair and hints were available if you get really stuck. The 4 of us tore through the room with 10 minutes to spare. There was a very creative use of elements to make the puzzles including keys, locked devices and hidden codes.

I have been to the escape rooms here twice now, the most recent was The Detective's Office and it was incredibly fun. The hour seemed to fly by and my friends and I escaped with 2 minutes to spare. Our host, Emelia was very cheerful and gave us punny clues on the screen which helped us along. I would absolutely recommend Breakout because of their friendly staff and wide variety of rooms.

I came with my friend and younger brother to do the "Captured A" and "Forsaken" games over the weekend. We did our very first game about a week before that and afterwards thought we HAVE to play more. Really had the best time! It's really worth the price, the 4 star and 5 star games are challenging, and you definitely find out how you work in a team, how you can improve next time, and what your contributions are. We didn't make it out of our very first one which was the Serial Killer Hospital one, but managed to complete the other two mentioned above (JUST haha) as we blocked ourselves in with a rug we threw into the corner against the door, so were very happy. You're only given clues when absolutely necessary, so that it's fair, you get your money's worth 100% and a fair shot to complete it yourself plus stays a challenge. Can't compliment the staff enough; my little brother has mild autism and anxiety and OCD but Simpson & Jess M were SO professional and treated him like anyone else and SO lovely, can't thank you enough really. Will definitely come back!! A++++

We managed to escape from the room Sabotage. This was actually the hardest room I have done so far. We were four people and nobody had time for a breather right till the end. One slight problem occurred (computer screen disconnected itself), but the time was stopped and a guy came in to fix the issue. Well, after that it was back to pure stress again. Lots of riddles, but they all made sense. Eventually we made it out with just 1 minute and 28 seconds to spare. Apparently only 19% of the participants actually make it out, so in your face 😎! Would totally go again!

Fantastic experience! I came here with my boyfriend and while we didn't actually manage to escape, we had a great time. It really is like the real life version of escape the room apps. We went for the most difficult one and were given 1 hour to find our way out of the room. The staff were really friendly and gave us clues towards the end to help us along. I would recommend going with more people, we were planning to but unfortunately the other couple couldn't make it on the day. Otherwise it might be best to go for an easier level. Highly recommend it!

We have just played the NEWEST room called #ReClassified and let me tell you... it is just FANTASTIC! WE LOVED IT! The staff here are great and always friendly and the puzzles... What a great time we had. The staff are really friendly and nice. The experience is a whole load of fun. Just make sure you get the full instructions and understand them. We did the madchester one and didn't listen properly to the instructions so we wasted time at the beginning. Needles to say we didn't escape. If we'd have understood right from the start we'd have made it out I reckon. But we still had a really great time. I think the madchester is one of the more difficult ones too. So if you're going for the first time, take note of how hard each room is.

Challenging to say the least. We had the 'prison' room and lived the frustration of finding clue after clue. However, it was not smooth sailing - the staff member we had watching through the cameras could not see that we had completed one of the challenges because of the angle of the cameras so constantly kept misleading us. This led to us not solving the case and breaking out but we were given extra time (due to the staff members error in the clues she was giving) in which we did manage to escape! Great experience if a little frustrating but can't fault the enthusiasm of our host or the quality of the room.

Breakout is awesome, and not what I was expecting at all. They have three experiences going up in difficulty (and price), and going by the one I did they're all fun and very engaging. The puzzles are not entirely intuitive, but you do get assistance from the staff, who watch you and provide tips in case you're totally stumped. At the start it's easy to think you have loads of time and be complacent and conversely as the clock runs out it's easy to get flustered and agitated and lose focus. As I mentioned, the puzzles could be more easily signposted but that may be a function of how many people you go with- 2-5 is a good idea, the more of you there are the easier it'll be. It's a fun experience, but not very repeatable because once you've done one and escaped (or not), you already know what it's about. Still, for someone who hasn't, it's a great date idea.

Got locked in the toilet, I assumed the game had begun so I began looking for clues and did find a saw inside the back of the toilet so assumed I had to saw through something. Long story short I had to pay for the wall and clean up the blood from my foot which I'd sawn off assuming there was a key inside it. From what I hear though my mates did get out of their room too but I think I had the better experience.

This real life escape game was tricky to find, but a great hidden gem for something to do in Manchester. In teams of 2-5 people you get locked in one of two rooms and have 60 minutes to solve a series of clues which lead to your escape. It's a fun unique experience and I thought it was all very well thought out with a lot of attention to detail. The Breakout team were very welcoming too, which is always nice when you don't know what to expect! I’d really recommended Breakout.

It was our first time and it took us a few minutes to get used to what we had to pay attention to and what we could ignore but after that we got stuck in. Having now done a breakout room in Edinburgh since, have to say my group didn't enjoy the Manchester breakout as much. Staff very friendly in both places but not as helpful with keeping us on track in Manchester, which made for a frustrating experience as it was 40 minutes in that we solved our first clue. I guess it's hard getting the balance between giving too many suggestions and supporting a team through it but Edinburgh would be my first choice of doing another room now. They knew when to stop us going down the wrong track having dismissed the right idea, which saved us time and meant we got to enjoy more of the experience.

Pretty fun and really challenges you! Only downside is the interactivity. For example, there's no electronic things to interact with, there's nothing you have to crawl through or interactive elements to it. Another thing is the size, it's literally just 2 rooms (one room for 80% of it and another you unlock near the end) - at least for the one I did. Could've been more an interactive to navigate through different rooms. Finally, you have no clue of where to start and what links to what. There should be some starting point. I've done escape rooms around the world including Malaysia which you'd think would be no where near as good as a British one, but it was far superior and included all those downsides mentioned above.
