Stunning building, sad it's much loved inspirational Priest Fr McMahon was forced to retire by an uncaring, Bishop, a man remote from the Parishioners who ran a strong campaign to retain their hardworking, much loved Parish Priest. The church is well worth visiting for it's stunning architecture.

Saint John’s Catholic Church in High Lane, Chorlton, Manchester is definitely worth a visit. Rich in the history of Trafford going back to way before Henry VIII’s overthrow of the Catholic Church in the 1500s, it took 333 years before Catholicism was revived in Chorlton in 1892. The Saint John’s School led in 1926 to the building of the church named for St John the Evangelist that we see today, an architectural gem indeed.

My mum and dad married here 50 years ago this week, sadly my mum isn't here to celebrate. We visited to light a candle for her. Such a beautiful old church. Father Mack is looking after it very well.

Father Mc is an amazing priest, with so much enthusiasm. He a one of life's true gentlemen. As a family we have known him for over 50 years and have gone to each of his parishes to attend his masses and services. Throughout the years he visited parishioners that had fallen on hard times for one reason or another and made sure the children had food in their bellies and shoes on their feet. It is hands on approach and his kind ways and knowing each of his parishioners that makes him so special to all that have the pleasure of knowing him. Hearing that he has been asked to plan his retirement is a huge blow for St John's, the Catholic community and for those of us that travel into the parish for his masses. I hope and pray and godwilling Fr Mc will put off his retirement for a number of years yet.

A really beautiful church, l found it to be a place of peace in such a busy world. The priest speaks to you in a loving way as to make you enjoy the mass, just to sit in the church you feel at peace. Jesus loves all his childen and welcomes them to his houses, love jesus as he loves you.

I attended a family christening even though I wasn't invited. Well having taken my sisters 5 children out of Social Services Care my younger sister Marcia unmarried of 2 who lives in Barbados and not working resented the fact my mother had trusted with her affairs as she has informed all around her that to this day friends stop and say "if it wasn't for you she wouldn't have what she got.
