Șt. Helen’s Church , Eddington Rd. Seaview , PO34 5EF, Isle of Wight, is a parish church , Diocese of Portsmouth. The original church was founded after the Norman Conquest by Benedictine monks. The church was dedicated to St Helena or Helena Augusta , the important figure in the history of Christianity ✝️ The old church ⛪️ and the Benedictine priory was dissolved in 1414 . The new church was build in 1717 in a stone structure with brick 🧱 dressing , transepts and west tower with one 🔔. In 1864 an organ by Gray & Davison was added and there is a mural tablet to Sir Nash Grose ( 1740-1814) and his son Edward. He died at his seat, the Priory, in the Isle of Wight.

Historic (though not as old as many parish churches) and atmospheric. Church well-kept - but large churchyard mainly wild and overgrown, preventing a proper exploration of the gravestones ☹️. Still, worth making the trek to the far corner of the parish.

Lovely church. As a new arrival in the area, I've been made very welcome and will be attending when I'm next down here. Thank you.
