Reviews of St. Mary the Virgin with St. John Church, Great Brington.
M. P.
This is the church of Spencer Family - ancestors of Princess Diana. This medieval church so stunning especially the glass window at the middle of the altar. Entering the church just like walking in time. Well preserved church and not to miss when visiting Great Brington. We enjoy looking those norman pieces that first time to see. We a little bit anxiois when someone come and ask us the alarm is on. We didn’t touch anything we just wandering to witness this astonishing church. We waited for a few minutes outside and they sorted out the alarm. After that we explore again and another man is not reading the alarm went on again.. Even despite what happen we have great day visiting here and love to come back again.

Very nice place that gives you the sense of the olden time with it’s joy and sadness.
This church stands on the site of an earlier Saxon church ⛪. The tower is the earliest part, and was built about 1200 A.D. it was one of the old chain of beacon towers, and now house of the bells and the clock. The north aisle was built in about 1220 and the south aisle some sixty years later.

Locals share the information- thats factual proof -it is here- The tomb was opened a few days before Diana`s burial, and only before that in 1992 when her father died. Diana~s final resting place is HERE with her family-AND NOT on the tiny island at Althorp!

This Church has long been associated with nearby Althorp House and the Spencer family. St. Mary's along with five other Churches form the aptly named Spencer Benefice. Interestingly, the St. John part of its name is taken from the redundant Church at Little Brington where only the tall landmark steeple now remains.<><><><> Please note that an advert appearing on this page:- "Apparel chain with its own line of stylish, edgy apparel, including leather jackets in many styles.- Google" - has nothing whatsoever to do with St. Mary the Virgin with St. John Church at Great Brington and should be removed.
