Reviews of St Dunawd's Church
St Dunawd was an important Abbot at an immense 6th Century monastery at Bangor on Dee. The monastery was sacked and about 1,200 monks were massacred by Anglo Saxons in 613 AD at the Battle of Chester. 50 monks reportedly survived and relocated to Bardsey Island, situated off the tip of North Wales' Llyn Peninsula The church we see today is built from the sandstone remains of the original monastery.
A fine boxy looking church set beside the river. Very nice.
