Fantastic shopping experience, mainly visiting to fit my son out for a wedding and to buy a Jacket for my dad. Sue was brilliant in suggesting things for my son and he left really pleased with his outfit likewise my dad was pleased with his purchase. Its not often i get down to the shop but i always find them so welcoming and helpful and even ended up buying a few bits for myself which i was really pleased with. I wish we had a John Banks Big and Tall in Derby!!

My very first time in the store looking for a new outfit . I was served by the lovely and very attentive Sue. The shop is an absolute treasure trove of menswear and the staff can’t do enough to help you with your requirements. Very happy customer will be back soon . For many years the staff here have looked after me and helped with both my casual and formal needs. Despite being 6ft6 and on the larger side I've managed to get all types of clothing from them and even through lockdown they were able to help me with my needs (their delivery/returns process is great btw). The staff are happy to let you do your own thing or to work with you to find what what works/what you look good in. For those that are taller than average or on the larger side I highly recommend visiting to see what they can do for you.

Being on the large size I required a suit for my son's wedding. I had looked on my different websites some offered the required size, 62 inch chest, but usually said unfortunately no longer available. I spoke with a gentleman at another retailer who advised me to check on John Banks Big & Tall Men, as they had a live stock list on their website. They had all 3 items that I required, jacket, waistcoat and trousers, and because I ordered before 15:00 on the 11th and over a certain amount, it was free delivery. It arrived 10:00 today Sat 12th and fitted perfectly. I will definitely be buying more clothes from this store.

Being a typical man I always leave everything till the last minute. Well being of the bigger boned man I always struggle to find clothes that are in fashion and fit. Well I found this shop on the Internet and thought I will give it ago. Tried a few standard high street stores to get a suit for my son who is 6ft 4 but couldn't get anything to fit or they didn't provide for his height. Look no further! As a big chap (6'3 and large), I really struggle to find clothes, let alone a suit which is exactly what I needed ahead of my new job! I visited the store this weekend, commuting from Gloucester with no expectation as I'd really lost hope in finding anything having trawled the interest for hours and hours yet from the moment I arrived, I was looked after by Sue who is an absolute asset! She made me feel comfortable, was clearly knowledgeable and was able to have me in a very nicely fitted suit in almost no time at all, selecting the right brand of shirts that work with my shape. I honestly couldn't be more grateful to both Sue and the business and you can count on me coming back! I'm now hugely at ease without the worry of not looking or feeling the part on my first day thanks to yourselves!! Great stock, especially given the supply issues currently in the market on just about everything, great service, easy and free parking outside of the clean air zone, everything was just perfect! 5 stars isn't enough!

I hadn't visited John Banks for a few years but they certainly came to my rescue today with a great big suit for my brother's wedding in two week's time. Having found the hire suit my brother had arranged too small, with 60R the biggest chest they offered, I remembered John Banks do suits and up to 72" chest extra long. Over the last few years I've been buying my 5XLT (extra long and tall) T-shirts, shorts, trousers and other casual clothing from various online stores, that especially supply for BIG and TALL men like me. But they don't do suits. And for a wedding, you really have to try the jacket, trousers and waistcoat on, especially if you're as big a man as me or non standard size, e.g. can't buy a suit because the jacket and trouser sizes don't match up. I phoned the shop yesterday, and having been assured they had at least one of each size up to 72" XLT; made an appointment for 1pm. I was driving from Luton to Birmingham, a round trip of 150 miles, which took 3 hours there and back. When I got to the shop, there was plenty of parking outside because John Banks own all the parking spaces. PERFECT SERVICE Andy served me and he was great. He couldn't have done a better service. After initially measuring my chest, stomach and waist, he was able to advise which suits they had in my size, and would fit the best. Although to be honest, when you have a 68" chest, you're simply grateful anything fits! I tried the 68" long on but found it a little tight under the arms, so went for the 70". Andy then found the perfect fit trousers, which although a little loose, if worn with the braces he put on me, they are really very comfortable. Andy asked if I wanted a waistcoat too, but I wasn't sure because when I had been in the Wedding hire shop, they told me that due to my shape and size, it would hang like a pregnancy smock. However, Andy explained that because John Banks are specialists in the bigger and much bigger man, all their clothes are cut to fit in all the difficult places, lengths and widths. When I put the waistcoat on, tried sitting down and standing up several times with the jacket on too, honestly, the waistcoat could have been made to measure. So, how much has all of this cost, you're probably asking. Bearing in mind my brother is paying £100 to hire basic mourning suits, while I have bought a quality wool and cotton but light to wear dark navy jacket, trousers, waistcoat, extra long 22" collar Double Two white shirt, extra long and braces: £300. I'm happy with that. Andy never rushed me and was fully attentive for the hour or so I was in the shop. Even when other customers tried to ask for his assistance, he alerted another assistant, so he never wandered off because I was taking my time to decide. This may also have been because I had phoned ahead and made an appointment. I never felt at any time this was simply about making a sale but rather making sure I got a suit that fitted me perfectly, despite being a 7XL size of a man! AND THERE'S MORE ... On the way to the till, I noticed a lovely loud red Hawaiian 7XL shirt, which I simply had to try on. Then there were a couple more at reduced prices, so I bought three quality and extremely comfortable summer shirts for going down the pub, when they reopen, for a total of £60. John Banks also have a shoe shop next door with long and extra wide shoes and trainers including New Balance, even in my size: 13.5 extra wide 4E. They're not expensive either. So, if John Banks can fit out a big fat man like me with a 70" jacket, you can be certain they have even more choice for all you little guys.

A fantastic outlet catering superbly for the taller man. I have used John Banks for a number of years either via mail order or by visiting the store and have always received a great service. They have a modern and broad collection of clothes, which is updated regularly making it a one stop shop for your all of your fashion needs.

Excellent Service, had a choice out of 6 coats, instead of 1.... Went for the 3000 H Waterproof one, & treated myself to a track suit too 😊 Highly Recommend, they cater obviously TALL, but 10xl for CHUBBY too! I think shoe's go upto 17uk. I'm a 6ft 8 Giant, size 15 feet, highly recommended. Only advice!!! Be aware, you won't want 4/5xl in here lol, they can do a whole roll 😆. Plus size, it's fun to find a pair of trousers almost taller than me.

Being 6ft 4 I struggled getting a suit and then I got recommended John Banks. After going in with not alot of hope I got served by Andy and it could not have gone any better. Tried Slaters for a big suit as have gained weight during Covid, they couldn't get size 54xl and no suggested alternatives!!. Googled this place and spoke to someone before travelling there. Visited the store at the tail end of last week and both service and selection were faultless. The store is easy to get to (when there aren't 2 lanes closed on the M6!) and parking at front of store is easily accessible. Although I will say longer vehicles may struggle when busy. That said, my experience with their online store (when I can't get south) has always been positive. I've really enjoyed my visits to the store and the staff are incredibly helpful. They not only know their stock but how clothes should fit and their advice on what to try has been superb. Clothes are well priced and it's such a relief to have shirts and suits that fit both width and lengthwise. Cannot recommend them enough, and I would especially like to thank the staff that stayed late last week. They were understanding of delays and they did not compromise on service. I've been shopping here at John Banks for close to 20 years now and I would recommend this store first time every time. As a big guy sometimes it can be quite anxious shopping for clothes and not really knowing what fits or even whether you're able to buy certain things at all. The staff here, for as long as I've shopped here, have always been incredibly helpful, friendly and polite, offering very professional advice and guidance for whatever I've needed. I've never felt judged because I'm a big guy, in fact the staff seem to be able to take that worry away as soon as you walk through the door. The range and choice of clothing here is very good quality, which is important to me, in other shops I often find that larger sizes are cheap and poor quality but at this store there are some great ranges of a really good quality. I would unreservedly recommend this store to anyone.

The goods for tall men in some outlets always seem dull and are such as to make the individual look as though are going to a funeral but J. Banks has the sort of attire for all tastes. Great Experience. Ordered something using the website on Wednesday night. I got an email confirming shipment on Thursday, giving a time frame when I should get my delivery on Friday. The delivery happened as promised, the goods were very well packed, and exactly as described on the website.

Staff are friendly and very helpful. Always a good selection of big men's clothes in stock. Most prices are fair and reasonably priced. I have found the odd garment of a poor manufactured quality. A small example was I purchased track bottoms and when I got round to wear them the pockets had not been sewn in on the inside which meant anything put in your pocket would immediately fall out. Would recomment you trying the service and goods yourself.

These guys take so much care to dress big men well. They go out of their way to accommodate big and tall, longer or shorter sleeves. They make sure tailoring looks good from every angle. They are superb and know their product inside out and back to front. I first took my son there more than a decade ago and they have seen him right through Kevin and Perry teens to dapper young twenty something all taken in their stride while serving the discerning mature gentleman. True professionals.

A great shop based on price and variety of clothing. If you get their sale you can get amazing offers on really nice suits. Everything I've got from them has been excellent, great quality. Staff are excellent, have an amazing knowledge of stock and are very welcoming. Lets face it, to shop somewhere like this you have a specific shape that can be embarrassing. Not once have a felt like that here. Whilst I would agree with the area review as appearing rough it's not. I spent several hours at the location shopping and in the local café and everyone was very pleasant.

For those of us who are of larger stock, this is a great place to visit. Prices vary greatly depending on the items and the designer label, however they do have their own label which is great value. Very good for the bigger and/or taller bear, some of the assistants are fantastic, a couple slightly less so but all are helpful, the prices are higher than the high street but they provide sizes larger than those normally available and of higher quality than Tasdaburys /primark etc if you require such. Really pleased with my experience today. All the staff were attentive, however I dealt with Andy who was fantastic and managed to kit me out with a suit, sports jacket and chinos as well as a new belt. He was helpful in getting other sizes from elsewhere in the store, co ordinated some items with a jacket I had bought online from them previously and generally very friendly. I live 45mins way from the store, but worth getting in the car to see the range of stock they have in the flesh. Much better shopping experience for the ‘larger gent’ than traipsing around lots of unsuitable shops. They seem to cater for a wide variety of styles and budgets. Highly recommended!
