Great shop for custom kilts, heritage/tartan items, and other Scottish wares. George was very helpful, knowledgeable, and very pleasant to talk to. They also provide vat refund receipts for foreigners, if you're curious. Definitely recommend stopping in for look and chat up the staff with any questions. They are friendly and helpful!

Come to find out 95% of shops in this area are owned by same guy producing things in china BUT not here.This one of 3 places where it is legitimate good quality and made locally. Plus Blair who helped me did a great job at giving me the info of all the things i was looking at buying.so if you want authentic goods come here. Prices are equitable for the quality. By shopping here you are not contributing to the horrendous monopoly that exists in Edinburgh by a guy who gets the stuff made in China. Think twice before you go to that outlet down the road.

Walked all over Edinburgh to find a maxi kilt, all to no avail, visited this store and ground exactly what I wanted and in the right size. Thrilled to bits. Also bought a tartan cloak which is perfect, and lovely and warm. Bought several other items and pleased with them all. Staff very friendly, helpful and professional.

Fantastic service, I cannot fault the staff and having read a review which states the staff are rude, I can only assume that is a competitor! Blair was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, friendly, and they communication via email and telephone was faultless. They helped me put together a full wedding package for myself and 4 groomsmen, with 5 fully tailored kilts, all accessories and everything was perfect, it made the big day unforgettable, and all at avery reasonable price, better than competitive. Seriously, thank you, everyone at Hector Russell.

The only place to go when looking for kilts, scarves, etc. Quality that is not cheap, but worth the money. Service was superb...whenever we couldn't find things at other shops they always said "check at Hector Russell. They should have it". Highly recommended!

I had a beautiful me to order ladies dress skirt out of my favorite tartan . I only had time to get the actual measurements taken and pick my fabric they mailed the skirt me back in the US about six weeks later it is beautiful and I love it !! Great communication by email from all the staff !!

Great place to for authentic Highland Celtic attire they originated at Huntly Street Inverness although they are now at Bridge Street with branches elsewhere I have in the past bought four Kilts from them + various accessories and highly recommend Hector Russell.
