Reviews of Dover Street Market
J. P.
I was a bit worried about what the environment would be like, based off of some of the reviews. I was pleased that my experience was the complete opposite. I didn’t feel like I was followed or watched while browsing. Most of the items were out of my budget but it was nice to take a look around. Another reviewer said it’s like a fashion art museum and I have to agree. I have to thank Stallios and Damien for making our experience great with their advice and customer service. If you ask a staff member for water they bring you some in a fancy bottle. My partner bought Wales Bonner trousers and was really happy with them! Would definitely visit again.
h. F.
Such a wonderful and creative store. Very helpful staff but also genuine with unique pieces. The store is for everyone, for those interested in the artists side of fashion but also for the ones that want something special. Possible one of the best if not the most unique concept for a store.
K. P.
Great unique place. This is more likely museum or art gallery. 👏🏻
L. L.
The basement is my go to place. They are so helpful in there, and very cool. If you want some style, head here.

DSML is a store that sells luxury fashion goods from up coming and trendy designers along with a wide selection of Japanese designers. There is a cafe on the top floor that serves cakes and tea. The bottom floor sells more affordable clothing, and throughout the store, there are interesting fashion related installations. The staff there is really nice and they give out free water.
R. M.
A beautifully unique store covers several stunning floors, amazing interior design, with the best brands from the Gucci, Fendi and Balenciaga to Supreme and of course the Comme des garcons labels
Stay for a delicious light lunch, this is an experience store you will not forget!
G.
A pretty cool place to visit when in London. If fashion trends bothers you the most then probably it is the right place for you. Apart from Kawakubo's own brand (CDG) you have the chance to see many other European and Japanese ones. As for the really hungry ones it's really the place to be when you are looking for limited edition products and unique collaborations. The place is literally huge and the interior spectacular. As for the prices... i mean come on you know what you gettin' into. Don't miss last floors coffee place ... very cute!!!!
J. N.
An absolutely stunning mini department store located right in the centre of Piccadilly Circus. Staff were extremely helpful and were on hand to see if I was OK or needed help retrieving an item. The shop interior is extremely unique and striking... Prada, CDG PLAY, CDG HOMME and Balenciaga all have their stock inside... worth a visit!
J. B.
There’s nothing quite like DSM, the layout is easy to navigate and you can always find something different. Great store to visit when in London
L. Y.
A Must see in fashion London : a meca for any fashionista
Very hype shop : the English version of Colette (good try)
Original display
Welcoming staff
Good brands selection : not affordable for basic buyers ...
Trends showcase

Was looking for something that was only stocked online, however, sales assistant was super nice. DSM is a joy to experience
O. T. Z.
Fashion forward boutique that is essential to visit. Very inspiring abd driven by art and life!!
L. A. P. U.
This more like a museum where you can buy high fashion brands like Comme des Garçons , Balenciaga , Prada; or more affordable Brands like Adidas , Nike , Puma or Noah ; AMD even jewerly or parfums(but only from Commes des garçons).
The employers are attentive with you and help you with the things that you need.
In general a boutique that you must go and look in London without doubt .
A.
Best place to buy clothes in london 100%
Staff is awesome and the variety of brands make it the perfect place to become the god of fashion
O. O.
This felt like an episode of a comedy sitcom where the very normal plain character accidentally gets wrapped up in the world of fashion and everywhere he looks his understanding and expectations of aesthetics and culture is subverted.
That's what it felt like going in to this store. I had to leave because I felt too intimidated. It was very cool though and the space is architecturally interesting.
a. R.
One of my favourite store in london
A. A.
Beautiful place, usual customer. But Dover clerks always make you feel like you’re about to steal something or stare you down. Other than that i buy in store and online with them.
D. S.
A very interesting place. Looks like an art gallery. Very friendly staff.

Some of the best fashion design showroom in London central.
In March 2016, Dover Street Market moved from the eponymously named street in London’s Mayfair to Haymarket near Piccadilly Circus. If you’re not familiar with the area, just two minutes up the road is a branch of Tiger Tiger. Yet apart from literally the worst club in the world and Her Majesty’s Theatre (the long-term home of The Phantom of the Opera), there is little else around. In other words, this isn’t a part of town you’d expect to find a store that stocks some of the world’s most expensive and coveted brands. Think Vetements, Gucci, Dior, Gosha Rubchinski.
Founded in 2004 by Rei Kawakubo and Adrian Joffe of Comme des Garçons, the couple threw out the rulebook on what luxury stores should look like. Gone was the glow of warm, welcoming lighting; in its place an industrial aesthetic (think lots of concrete) and a place where the pair could sell their designs alongside those of their peers, nurturing and supporting emerging talent at the same time.
Kawakubo had two words for how she wanted the discombobulating shopping experience to feel: ‘beautiful chaos’. The phrase epitomises the visionary nature of DSM, a place where people from different worlds come together to shop side by side. A place where you’re as likely to find a Gucci handbag as Gosha Rubchinskiy fanboys queuing overnight to get their hands on the Russian designer’s latest Adidas collab.
Financially, however, DSM was a risk. The store took years to start paying off: “In the beginning, no-one understood it,” Joffe told the Financial Times last year. He credits a 2007 Vogue article, which called DSM ‘the best shop in the world’, as the catalyst for their change in fortune, but shoppers and industry experts alike recognised the brilliance of mixing luxury brands with the relatively unknown. “We always wanted both,” said Joffe. “We wanted that clash, that unexpected synergy that happens between things.”
K. U.
I would buy every Commes Des Garcons piece in this store if I could. Always at the forefront of fashion, visit this store in every city it's in!
G. N.
Is it a shop? Is it a museum? Is it a art gallery? Is it a entertainment venue? Yes to all. I went in as me and came out feeling like a jelly fish in a whirlpool. I like it
P. A. S.
She will the honoree of the Met Gala Ball in May 2017 and the Costume Institute exhibitiion at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2017.
A. F.
Amazing place, great visual displays, good selection of "streetwear" brands.
V. T.
The new location of the famous japanese comme des garçons owner. Have several locations in the world, this one in London also have a cute little cafe at the top level, created by Rose Carrarini. New underground brands are constantly arriving so it's good to come back regularly
a. n.
Lovely place absolutely fantastic, stairs are very nice in the centre of the building.
J. C.
More of a musem for Hypebeast than a fashion store but I do wish the staff would smile every so often or at least pretend to be nice or interested. Prices are ridiculous.
C. H.
As I'd tripped over the kerb on my way to the market (My fault) the assistants asked if I was all right and provided my friend and I a hot drink and cake on the house. The Market was interesting anyway but many thanks to them all for their very kind gesture I will be back next time I visit London
C. C.
This was an interesting find. A lovely wander around where you could easily spend £5 grand between the 5 floors if you like that sort of thing 😬
효.
There are various brands here. There are many unique clothes and clothes of famous brand are well displayed. There are cafes on the top floor, so visit them. As you know, the price is not cheap😎
o. K.
A lot of different selection of clothing and one off pieces
m. p.
Amazing curation of collaborative artists. Fashion heaven!
R. B. O.
Cool concept store! Just going there is an experience
S. J.
Run more like a market but its an interesting store but kinda going down hill in my opinion.
S.
Extremely friendly customer service and beautiful layout of the shop!
M. C.
The shop is welcoming, with an artistic decor and full of well-known and unknown brands. Advice to fashion enthusiasts.
N. V.
Fascinating luxiry store. Very beatiful
J. C.
Great service and fashion wise such a brilliant place to shop
S. S.
Have been Tokyo and NYC branch but London branch is my favourite. I absolutely love here everything in this place. People, interior, exterior, view, smells etc etc etc
D.
Fabulous range of high end fashion labels all across 4 floors. They offer a comprehensive collection of all the Comme designs Garcons collections including perfumes, candles and accessories. It is a relaxing shopping environment with very helpful and knowledgeable staff. There is a Rose bakery on the top floor which is a lovely place to relax whilst making those important spending decisions.
L.
A lot of expensive designer brands. Still happy with my CDG Play Converse that I bought. Go to the highest floor for CDG Play.
J. D.
A beautiful space fitted out in an experimental style with each department having a unique personality. There is a wide range of styles and prices of garment. It is a great place to feel inspired and discover new things. The only negative I would say is that some of the staff were really rude and completely ignored my mother in law which put her off buying anything.
N. C.
Wow!! This is it! The place to check the latest fashion trends. In here you can imagine the root of artists inspiration in each collection and see the quality of their work. The staff that works here is second to none, and will guide you directly to the best of the best. The beacon of contemporary fashion.
M. M.
DSML doesn't answer product questions regularly.
Also ordered a product, waited over a week for its shipping and then got a message that it's no longer available.
Poor customer care.
Edit 1/6/21:
My item got restocked. Unfortunately shipping to Germany changed from free in December to 15 pounds. Therefore I asked DSML for a refund. They answered within an hour and I could purchase the item.
All's well that ends well. :)
B. H.
Very cool and unusual shop. I like the displays inside but most of the stuff was out of my price range. If you have money to spend and like interesting pieces then go and have a look. They have a nice collection of vintage rings and sunglasses.
R. S.
Was good. The staff was great and helpful as well. Loved how each floor was divided. They give out handy floor guides as well, which is really helpful. You can spend from 15 minutes to a couple of hours over there. So plan ahead, how much time you want to invest. On the top floor they've a small eatery as well.
R. G.
DO NOT SHOP ONLINE. But will be commending Matthew for helping my Daughter and I with her online order. He was super patient and kind towards us despite throwing a fit at him over the company’s policy. Would have given the online shop a 1 star but you saved it. :)
t. d.
Being a frequent visitor to DSM stores around the world, I personally think that the customer service is especially excellent in DSML store. The staffs are knowledgeable on the products, some are even very friendly and helpful as they were able to recommend products when I wasn’t very sure about certain choices.
Also special thanks to Mel Zhao who helped me choose, and even measured some dresses and jewelries virtually in preparation for my wedding!!!
Cheers from Indonesia
F. S. o. t. F. S.
Lovely aesthetic and interior decoration. Great selection of clothes which can be expensive but you might walk out with a piece you like if you’re lucky (highly recommend heading here during sale season). Staff can be pretentious sometimes but not rude.
L. W.
This is by far the best clothing store in London! They clearly put a lot of thought and effort into the layout and design of the entire place. Extremely nice to look around and they have a wide Verity of brands and pieces. If your into streetwear and or high end fashion, definitely go in or I garentee you will regret it. Friendly staff and good service 11/10
H. P. k.
I had an excellent time at Dover Street Market. The atmosphere was upbeat, the store was multi-leveled, and one of the workers on the 4th floor. She was swift and kind when retrieving what I wanted and was full of smiles and energy. She held my wrapped shirt, waited in line with me, and helped me at the register. 10/10 would come here again.
I. S.
A perfect place to explore as an art student, fashionista or a curious member of the public - there's literally something for everyone here on each and every floor! I absolutely love the quirky decoration of every section. 😍💕
D. G.
Interesting instalments. Deffo worth a visit. Bottom floor is more affordable if you're on a budget. The more interesting clothes reside on the upper floors
R.
Staff are helpful and friendly. Great clothing from skateboard brands to high-end.
U.
As much an art installation as it is a shop. Some cool stuff in there. Typical elitist shop assistants; they're nice if they think you look like you can afford what's in it, if not forget about it.
G. M.
Really cool store and I was allowed to take photos of things that took my interest (well, I wasn’t told not to so I’m guessing I was allowed) I have also bought multiple things there and the staff are very hit or miss, some of them are very friendly and helpful and others are just plain judgemental and act very snobby and superior. Because of rude staff I am often too intimidated to spend more than 5 mins on each floor but apart from that it’s a great shop and experience!!
D. O.
Beautiful clothes in a fantastic setting staffed with lovely people who love and know about fashion.
a.
Amazing place to buy from tons of luxury, popular brands like Balenciaga, Undercover, Raf Simons etc but also a good selection of more niche brands. Beautiful rotation of new installations every so often so the store’s layout sometimes changes up. Definitely an experience and I plan to hit up the ones abroad soon
M. P.
This shop is wonderful on the eyes but apparently not allowed to take photos. I'm not sure why they would spend all the effort making it so much fun and then not allow customers to take photos. They are not protected or rare items. They are for sale so rather confusing. So. Sadly can't add photos to this review.
J. C.
An eclectic, often-changing set of exhibits worth seeing even if you do not intend to buy much. The prices are of course what you expect from such brands (very high!). Staff happy to help even though generally the onus is on you to approach them rather than vice-versa. Café often quiet and has nice pastries and coffee at a reasonable price.
H. K.
After requesting a tax refund, a staff didn’t give me back a passport. I realized it at the airport and called to the store. A manager sent a someone to the airport and finally I didn’t miss my flight. Thank You so much.
W. E.
Best store in the world no contest. All the best brands from low to high end. Best t shirts and sneaker selection all the rarest stuff. No where better. Like an art gallery. The only place worth shopping at.
S. K.
The new location is beautiful. Upon admiring the central spiral staircase, one of the employees was so nice in telling me about the location formerly having been the Burberry building. DSM London is an amazing collective of so many things. It isn't just a shop, but truly an experience & well worth a visit simply for appreciation of the stunning visual merchandising.
S. W.
Such cool products to explore through. The space is an art piece itself with a lot to look at.
D. K.
One of my favourite stores in London. Lots of great Japanese and European luxury brands. Some high end, highly conceptual items, but also lots of ready to wear items and streetwear.
B. H.
Very good store with a wide selection of brands over many floors. The basement is the best for streetwear as it has brands such as Palace and Gosha. I purchased the CDG converses and they had plenty of stock compared to other retailers who stock them and the woman who served me was very nice
P. T.
A gorgeous shop. Sadly cannot afford the divine clothes on my income, but so inspirational. And the best carrot cake in town. Such fun to visit.
S. S.
always a pleasure.. beautifully designed..great location building and interior exceptional
the clothes fun sylish chic and expesive and the staff are great !
h. t.
Excellent layout, one of the best designed fashion stores. DSM had a great range and I walked away with an item I initially went for, also met Liam Payne in DSM when I went. Overall great service and experience.
L.
I dont know what dsm is in real life but the online store is awesome. Had an issue with my order (had to exchange something) and everything ran smoothly. Market support responded very quick and politely to questions and they send via express delivery. Experience was just perfect. I'm happy :) dope clothes by the way!
I. L.
the original, but i have to say i prefer the tokyo location. service today was really good, couldn’t say the same when i came a few days back. a very solid collection of items, which is the main draw anyways.
B. M.
Never had anything less than a wholly positive experience here. Staff are experts at encouraging you to spend more thank you intended!
C. W.
The shop itself is great. The security is appalling, they seem to think it's alright to search you at the door!! for no reason - plus my complaint to customer services regarding this was ignored. As long as you don't look at anything while you're in there you'll be fine 😁
C. W.
Great store design and helpful staff. Nice environment overall but hard to find out who works as a staff as everyone is dressed differently.
T.
Was wary of going in after reading the reviews about poor customer service and my oww my were people right. You walk in and the staff look you up and down and don’t even bother to smile or say hello. Was ignored and had to go upto staff member to ask for the shoe size I wanted which seemed like too much effort for her. I’d avoid go to Selfridges or Harrods instead.
A. J.
Eye wateringly expensive designer fashions but if you're looking for cutting edge then this is where it's at. I found staff relatively friendly, unlike other reviewers. The Nike lab here is very limited compared to the 1948 store in Shoreditch. Great selection of CDG Play.
F. V.
When a fashion victim dies, this is what his heaven will look like.
Ignore the price tags and go explore one of the most unique and well crafted retail spaces in the world. The concept of a concept store originated from the first DOVER STREET MARKET in the US (cool folks call it DSM by the way) and when you walk through this amazing space you'll get what this means.
The store offers everything a fashion enthusiast with a well equipped wallet could ask for.
E. H.
Store is amazing, the three times I have visited the store its been a totally different experience each time! Definitely recommend to anyone into fashion, art direction or just a new experience.
S. M.
very interesting experience, but i dont‘t feel like they have many clothes you can wear on a daily base. it felt like i was visiting a museum & not a store
A. D.
I am not really a fan of any ‘Hype’ brands or any ‘Hype’ stuff and I told myself that I would never spend a dollar on any of this brands at all but this place kinda changed my life. So I walked into DSM one day and I was just window shopping with my girlfriend and as soon as we were about to walk out of the store I saw this pair of CDG(Commes Des Garçons) Nike and it was beautiful. I know I didn’t wanna get it but the other side of me is telling me but it’s limited edition and it’s freaking 90pounds only! I walked out with that pair of Nike. Thanks Dover Street Market.
Y. V.
On of my fav places to go to for inspiration. Uber stylish people, with one of the best places in London for coffee/cake/lunch. D e l i c i o u s ! Go alone and discreetly check on other's fashion, go with a friend and make a game on voting other's fashion -cheeky
I. C.
Cool place but probably too hype I can’t
A. S.
Best concept store in the world with the exception of Colette of course. Large array of know and a lightly more cult brands. Limited edition and collaborative products.
D.
Eclectic and eccentric... couldn't afford anything but fun to visit and the staff are nice!
F. V.
When a fashion victim dies, this is what his heaven will look like.
Ignore the price tags and go explore one of the most unique and well crafted …

This is worth a visit. It's like an art exhibition. Great!
H. G.
Great place to get more experimental brands that cannot be found anywhere else. Would recommend simply for the experience though you can find gems in the collection
E. H.

When creativity gets down to retail

Weird place. Very expensive... But its a must!
A. L.
Cutting edge store with brands. Interesting display.
M. M.
Nice variety of lovely pieces of Streetwear clothing can be found here. Basement floor you will find the sneakers space and variety of Streetwear brand e.g CDG, Noah etc.
D. H.
Took my 14 yo here and he loved it. Very trendy stalls with a price tag to match... Worth a visit if you are in the area
M. M.
A wonder land of creativity!! Not to be missed. Around the corner from the National Gallery. Excellent food and friendly people. Prepare to be enchanted!! MM
C. W.
DSM is one of the best shopping experiences you can make in your life. That‘s an awesome job done there!
W. O. W.
Great place to shop for street wear and other accessories. The bottom floor has really cool brands, everything from Gosha, to Palace, to upcoming brands.
H. G.
Great place to get more experimental brands that cannot be found anywhere else. Would recommend simply for the experience though you can find gems in the collection
S. B.
It's awesome if you're into arts/design/fashion! Don't get your hopes too high for buying anything if you're not rich but totally worth the visit
J. B.
Like an art gallery. Very expensive but beautiful clothing. More streetwear/down to earth stuff in the basement including a wide array of sneakers.
G. J.
Nice selection and location
G.
Decent selection of clothing, shoes and jewellery, staff have us free ice cream, thank you
s. d.
The new location is awesome and larger than the original shop in Dover street. The selection is still as well curated. Wonderful experience of creativity.
S. R. (.
It would get five stars based on the clothes, but a lot of the staff simply don’t ask if you need help and appear to think they’re superior despite them still being retail workers.
M. H.
The department itself is an experience! The security were wearing comme des garcons, the staff are very helpful if you're nice!!
P. C.
Great jewellery section on the ground floor — wide variety of independent designers represented, very knowledgable staff and a range of prices from affordable to $$$$$$$$
k. a.
A very wide selection of mens and womens clothing. The whole store is curated and looks very nice. The staff was very helpful. Must see!
H.
Andre in basement section has been a huge help, always top service. Whatever this guy is getting - he should have a pay rise! Will be returning soon!
M. A.
Very cool department store for rare designers. The basement shoe collection is also quite nice.
D. J.
Impressive -- my visit to the London store overtook the NYC location as my favorite DSM. Excellent curation and fixtures and surprisingly friendly staff.
J. S.
It’s nice & it’s different:)
R. P.
The new shop is spacious and nicely fitted in DSM style. Worth a visit, if you can afford the prices.
M. S.
For fashion freaks like me. Sky high prices but out of this world designs. Incomparable to anything else out there.
K. K.
More than a department store, it's an art gallery and cultural institution.
Worth just walking around and looking at stuff it's that good.
E. v. d. A.
Lovely place for all you fashion guru's! Only bought a pair of shoes but Walked around here for ages!
J. S.
A must-see in London, so avant-garde and inspiring!
S. A.
really interesting London store, I always go by when in town. great mix of known and unknown brands. my favourite is always junya watanabe/cdg.
D. O. C.
Pretentious, expensive designer clothes. Shop is laid out like a museum or art exhibition. Cool if it's what you're into.
J. T.
Shop in shop with the best in fashion at the moment #fashionistaporn
D. H.
Interesting store with interactive staff. Shop variety is poor - mainly just a puppet store of Comme des garçons now.
s. m.
If you've got too much money and not enough sense get yourself down there
s. r.
Great unique store, selling fashion brands of the highest premium. Great staff who are always helpful.
T. R.
Trendy cloth emporium and one of the must see shops in London for the sheer looks of the place and variety of items on display.
F. D. C.
Rei Kawakubo docet. You can find all the Comme des Garçons lines. Very nice the T-Shirt space in the basement where is also the PALACE corner.

Wow! What a store, so cool, creative installations, friendly staff and amazing product to boot!
A. B.
Pretty snooty store but worth it for the clothes. Why are fashion people so annoying?
R. K.
It is too much expensive and over priced. If I have whole the wealth in the world, even then I'll never spend that much on shity stuff.
C.
always love visiting DSML, staff are always incredibly nice and friendly, and the sales are amazing as well
M. b. p. K.
