If you want a stress free, relaxed suit hiring experience then look no further. After two dreadful experiences at both moss bros and slaters trying to look for a wedding suit, I assumed that a stressful experience was all that this was going to be however Walters changed that and looking for a suit became exciting again. I came in to hire some highland wear at short notice. The team got me measured up, ran through all my options and had me sorted very quickly - they were super friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. When I came in to try on and collect the attire, I had my young family in tow. Again, the team were super friendly - offering my children some chocolate and talking with them and my wife while I tried everything on (with their assistance as I'd never sorted a kilt out before). Lots of time for customers, great items in stock to buy as well as a wide range of formalwear to hire. I would recommend this store to anyone. After completing a year-long Masters at Oxford I really wanted a momento to take with me of my time here and I thought a tweed jacket would be special. Ben did a fantastic job helping me pick out the perfect coat, which turned out to be one of Walter's custom-made jackets they were demo-ing, a truly beautiful coat. Ben helped me find the right pants and shirt to pair it with and did so with impeccable service and attention. I think Walter's is a one-of-a-kind Gentleman's clothing store and a true staple of Oxford, I will remember my year here fondly when I wear my Walter's jacket. Thanks!

Not one for dressing smart but often wished that wasn't the case. Great experience Ordered a Barbour coat online at the beginning of the morning at 10-ish picked it up by 4 o’clock excellent customer service Ben was really good when phoning to ask him to meet us outside for click and collect. Ben really helpful. Next day I had to email Walters again to say the jacket was too big could we exchange, no problem whatsoever exchange the next day phoned Ben again he was there at the door waiting nothing was a problem.

We came to the shop on the 16th of September for some matriculation robes. My partner was unable to walk into the shop due to being on a phone call, and the wonderful gentleman that helped us measured him *BY EYE* and got it smack on. We were done in five minutes tops. FABULOUS SERVICE We used Walters for the suits for our Wedding in August 2019 and could not have been happier with the service we received. Although the pandemic has made international shipping more difficult, Walters of Oxford offers the highest level of service and will make every effort to ensure you receive your order. My package circumnavigated the globe before being returned to sender because of issues with my local post office in Atlanta. When I contacted Walters, they promptly repackaged the item and corresponded with me several times to confirm that the package was delivered. It was very personal service. When I received my wife's gift, I reached out to offer my genuine gratitude. Most online transactions have become extremely trying, but shopping at Walters was a pleasure even from afar. I first came across this retailer when I was an undergraduate many years ago and it was great then and nothing has changed; it's still great. It combines an exceptional level of service from the staff and an extremely high level of quality for the products it sells. Terrific.

An excellent experience all around - exceptional and personal service representing a broad selection of classic menswear. Products are generally selected to be handmade and English, or at least European, in origin. This ensures quality, but also comes at a cost: you shouldn't be shocked to pay a hundred pounds for a nice pair of trousers. Mind you, nothing seemed outrageously expensive: it's less about luxury than it is about quality. May be worth coming at a quieter time to ensure you get the most out of it!

Just for buying some postcards (offered in front of the door) I entered this shop... and stepped into a kind of magical place. As a female German tourist all these men´s wear to me looked gorgeous, at first sight. If you want the old England style of buying your clothes then this is the place for you. Obviously it's never going to be the cheapest but that said I have bought a number of items over the years - and not always in the sales. Staff can be a bit aloof and you feel judged on your current attire. I do like this shop even though it might not always be the most welcoming. It's an Oxford style shop that manages to survive the Internet age by purposefully clinging on to days from the proverbial bygone era. Change, but don't change if that cognitive dissonance makes sense.

A truly wonderful historic shop I visited recently when I was planning a student trip to Oxford, and visiting nearby colleges. It is everything you want in a traditional outfitters, but not stuck in the past. Great photos of students they've kitted out, traditional blazers and classic suiting and also great socks, and I thought very reasonable prices , and friendly helpful staff .I will visit again with students , thankyou.

I've used Walters a few times for black tie suit rentals (including shoes and cuff links!) as well as graduation attire. Many Oxford events have a particular dress code, so any time I was in a bind (e.g. forgetting my suit back in California!), I'd drop into Walters on the same day of the event (!) and get a suit rental for about £50. It isn't cheap, but it's still a great service. Members of staff (like Ben) are entirely focused on you as the customer, and they go out of their way to make you look like James Bond. 😀 Tip: They are closed on Sundays, but you can drop your suit off at nearby Lincoln college if that's the only day you can manage. Double check with Walters on the exact drop-off location to be safe.

I hired morning suits and top hats here for my groomsmen. All of them looked great, and one of them is in love with top hats now! >.< One of my groomsmen was out of the country and couldn't get measurements done. Fortunately we'd hired morning suits from Walters for the Royal Ascot 6 years ago. Although Walters didn't still have the records, the guy who was assisting me (Ben) amazingly could get an accurate size based on some of our photos from the event. The staff was very helpful and clearly new their stuff!
