I really wanted to love this dress as it really is beautifully designed and made, I am sadly between sizes 14-16, the sizing was great around the waist when I sized up to a 16 as a size 14 was a tad too perfect, but the arms were so much more longer in the 16 so had to return.

I bought the Patti dress in navy and white polka dot and I am so pleased with my purchase! The fabric feels very high quality and cool. It will be perfect to wear in Texas where I live. The bow is adorable and you can really tell that a lot of thought went into this dress with the fastenings. I'm 5'5" and 115 lbs (32', 24', 37') and this dress fits perfectly, with a little bit of give.

I love everything about the Mabel Waterfall dress! The cut, the fabric and the fit are just perfect. My measurement is 37-29-39 inches and size 12 fits me perfectly. I also ordered a size 10 in navy blue because they are out of size 12. It fits me very nice also but I suggest if you are between size, order a size up. Because the nature of the fabric, it may stretch around the seam. I am definitely going to order myself another color. Please make this dress in wine color I also ordered the Mae Tea dress. I am very happy with this dress also. The color looks just like the color on the website. The sleeves are wider in person but that can easily be fixed 🥰. I love the packaging. I love The Seamstress of Bloomsbury. I wanted a blouse and had so much choice, in the end I ordered the Lacey Blouse in pink (it was a toss up between this colour or the cream but decided on the pink knowing that I would be ordering the cream later!!). My blouse arrived really quickly and together with my blouse was a lovely headband - this gift was such a surprise adding a personal touch to ordering from TSoB (massive thanks, it made me feel special and I love it). The Lacey is just gorgeous and does not disappoint in any way - not creased through posting, very well made, beautifully crafted and of a quality that is very lacking in today’s modern offerings.

Just what I needed. Fits well and is a lovely colour. Wasn't quite expecting the material it is (my mistake in not understanding different materials) but still feels lovely quality, just needs a good iron. I purchased the Dolores dress and three shirts. The clothes fit perfectly and are incredibly flattering. As a typical size 6 on the high street, I was worried that the items would be slightly too big, but I was incredibly happy to find that they fit really well. The dress, especially, is so flattering. I will definitely be buying from The Seamstress of Bloomsbury in the future, and would also recommend them to any petite women like me (5ft2 & size 6) who are a little skeptical about sizing.

Ordered this dress for a future wedding. It’s beautiful, fits perfectly and so well made. Size up from your usual size.

Purchased the Eva blouse in both long and short sleeve (so I have one for warm days and one for cooler days), both in size 10. Both are made beautifully, and the fabric feels lovely. Unfortunately, the bodice of the long sleeve is much smaller than that of the short sleeve- I estimate the waist is almost 2 inches smaller. Perhaps a smaller sized bodice got mixed up among the size 10s during manufacturing? The short sleeve fits me quite well (will fit better once I've lost the holiday weight), but I will have to return the long sleeve, as I could barely button it up, causing the fabric to strain at the buttons- not a flattering look. Also purchased the Audrey trousers in size 12 and Lana trousers in size 14. Love that they have pockets. I actually like the Lana trousers more than I thought I would too! I will probably like the Audrey trousers more once I've given them a steam to remove the creases from transport, and again, I lose the holiday weight, so the waistband isn't quite so tight.

I love the Poppy blouse. Very stylish and with a real 1940s feel which is what I love. I’m an 8-10 and have a size 10. It’s slightly fitted, with wide sleeves, lovely detail on the buttons and a nice soft collar which works really well with a waistcoat and jacket and with high waisted trousers. Would recommend

Super-fast delivery, but the item I ordered didn't fit so I had to return it. Their clothes are beautiful, but I find the sizes inconsistent. I'm a 10-12. I've got one of their dresses in a 12 which is a good fit; a size 12 blouse which is too small; the same blouse in a 14 which is a good fit. This time I ordered size 12 trousers. They were too big, but I suspect a 10 would be too tight. I think the safest option is to order multiple sizes, and resign yourself to always having to pay the cost of a return.

I've bought items from the Seamstress of Bloomsbury twice and both times I've had excellent service and the size of the items have been perfect for me. Ive only purchased trousers and blouses so far, I'm a mixture of sizes from a size 8-10 on top so i went for the size 10 and the blouse doesnt feel too big. Then size 12 trousers which are very flattering and the fabric falls nicely and doesnt cling. Prompt delivery and well packaged. Clear washing guidelines are also included, which is helpful as the items need more careful laundering than just chucking them in the wash! Will definitely be purchasing from them again!

I wear a size 14. All my clothes are size 14. This is way too small. I can’t do it up at all. Probably 4 inches too small. I’m on a diet at the moment so will keep it, but am disappointed that I can’t wear it yet. Buy a size up from your usual size. Looks nice but isn’t the material I was thinking it was either, but my fault for not looking what it was made from. It’s quite crepey. I though it was cotton.

Last year I bought a beautiful dress which I really love but it’s too short for a tallish woman. I like the fabric and style but it only just goes over my knees. This year I opted for the wide legged slacks and contrariwise they were too wide and too long - amazing as It’s quite difficult to get trousers long enough usually. I’ll still follow your website and hope for better luck next time.

Editing to update: they ended up offering me a voucher for the cost of the two blouses, so I was able to place a new order. I did opt to go for a size up in the new blouses (and swapped the Jive for a different style so I wouldn't have to worry about the arm bands ending up too tight again). I would probably suggest the same to anyone ordering from here just to be safe, especially if you are not in the U.K. since internation returns are such a hassle. So my initial experience was not great, but I do appreciate their customer service and am excited to receive my new blouses! -- Unfortunately, my experience has been less than ideal. I ordered 2 blouses (the Grace and the Jive) and was pleased to find that my measurements were a perfect match for a size 10. The blouses arrived pretty quickly and were absolutely gorgeous. They looked just as pictured, construction was good, nice material, and the fit was absolutely fantastic. Then I washed them. Despite following the site's instructions to hand wash in cold water and air dry out of direct sunlight, the blouses shrunk significantly and no longer fit. The arm bands on the Jive blouse are now uncomfortably tight, and both blouses have significant gaping across the chest. I can only assume they do not pretreat their fabric before the garments are constructed, which, if true, is something that should absolutely be mentioned on their website so people know to size up. So I'm now out over $100 for blouses I wore for a grand total of 10 minutes. These were major investment pieces that I planned to wear often, so to say I'm disappointed is an understatement. I emailed the company a few days ago to see if there's anything they can do, so we'll see what they say. As of right now, I would not feel confident ordering anything else from them.

I've had my eye on their swing jackets for a while (after being delighted with their dresses and blouses), when I got a notification that my size was in stock I couldn't resist. I went for the red one, which is a beautiful rich colour and has more depth to it than comes through in the photos. The jacket is exquisitely made from high quality felted wool, and lined in luxurious satin. The jacket is undeniably stylish and the cut is perfect for that 40's vibe. It's lovely and warm, but not at all bulky and drapes beautifully. It looks fabulous with high waisted jeans and dresses/skirts alike. I think I need the houndstooth one next!

I bought a dress for my wife I just liked the way it hung on her (is that the right thing to say ? I bought a dress for my wife, just as a treat, it arrived super fast (I had seen someone wearing it at a show we went to) My wife was really pleased with it, I thought she looked good in it I was so pleased with it I bought her a skirt and blouse, that arrived under 24 hours, (that is what you call fast) But I had to return it, a 12 in a dress isnt a 12 in a skirt,(I didnt know that) The dress looks really good when she is on the dance floor, its a very light weight matieriel and really swirls They have a really nice selection which makes life hard for what I can get her for her birthday or Christmas (yes I know they arent cheap, but hand made and here in the UK, if you want quality, it comes with a price, that I dont mind)
