Having recently gotten married I feel I really should leave a review and bought my suit from here. When I was looking for my suit being a tall gentleman I do find it quite challenging to get one "off the rack" as they say. We were walking around upstairs when the owner (which at the time I didn't know) approached us asking if I was looking for a suit and then immediately gave my jacket measurements without using his tape. This in my opinion is a proper tailor. Nothing was too much trouble. The size of the trousers were a tad big as was the waistcoat so these were properly measured to be sent away for alterations. I also had a pair of trousers tailored into shorts too. Thanks again for giving me such fantastic service.

Purchased a pair of brown Derby shoes from here. Great price, high quality, excellent service. Will be certain to stop by here when I'm next in York.

I can't recommend this shop enough. I called in on Monday looking for a suit, straight away I found 2 that were really good quality and very competitively priced. However I was unsure about sizes in stock. Not a problem said the staff member, (not pushy or overbearing) they could get whatever I wanted within a few days. On Wednesday morning they called to say all the items I had requested were now in stock. I again visited the shop and tried both suits, one was spot on but the trousers from the other were slightly short. Again no problem, the trousers were expertly altered and ready to pick up within a couple of hours. I bought both suits and I am very happy with them. Good service and a great shop, I will definitely return. 👍

This is a really interesting shop, full of small rooms, corridors and with two entrances, that sells great men’s (and women’s) clothing that are different, of good quality and very sensibly priced. The staff are also very helpful and friendly. Well worth a visit.

This beautiful men's outfitters was a find like no other. They just don't exist any more. We had never been to York before and were delighted to find this shop and several other "one of a kinds" in the lovely old streets. We stopped overnight in York to visit the Railway museum and are so glad we did. We spent almost all of our holiday spending money in this one shop!! And were delighted with our purchases. It is only a matter of time before we come back.

Discovered this place whilst wandering around a very damp and cold York. Have a ‘Peaky Blinders’ themed wedding coming up later this year, and the wonderful range of tweed jackets and collarless shirts in the window display drew me in. It’s like stepping back in time. Courteous, helpful and knowledgeable staff were a delight. Although it looks at first glance like one large store, it’s actually two separate adjacent stores. Found the ideal shirt in the first one, then taken next door (with shirt) to be introduced to the staff there to continue my hunt for a tweed jacket. Twenty minutes later, left with shirt and brilliant jacket, which was half price in the sale. How shopping should be.

This is an odd shop , very old fashioned looking from the outside and with "country gent" style clothing in the window. Once inside it is a change to be greeted with "Good morning sir, how can i help you?" rather than "you alright mate?". A friend purchased a high quality shirt and designer tie at a total of just £35 and has resolved to buy something there every time he visits York. Well worth a visit if you are going to the races. PS I have only just noticed it is listed as a "T-shirt shop". Why?
