One of the better coffee shops in Aberystwyth. Really nice coffee - recommend the seasonal blend, I had a flat white and it was delicious! Fast WiFi that didn’t cut out at all, comfortable seating in abundant supply. A great spot to catch up with friends or get some work done as I did. Dogs welcome too!

If you expect to grab a quick coffee before 9.00 when second member of staff arrives think again. Great cheerful staff lovely coffee but they should have two staff on the till from the time it opens. The individuals on the early shift do their best but really they need two. It's been like this for a while fortunately I have not been in a rush. When I am I go elsewhere.

Good place for a cup of delicious coffee and sweet pastries. The lady behind the bar was all by herself and rocked a bunch of customers in a wild speed while still being chatty and so polite! One star less because they charge extra 40p for dairy free milk alternatives.

Great coffee, great service. The manageress is hands on and really cares about the coffee that gets put out. Great atmosphere in a wonderfully decorated old building with a mezzanine roof that helps it feel open and airy.

Having walked a couple of miles into town we wanted to find a dog friendly cafe and this was the first we came across. Downstairs was rammed so we headed upstairs, as a group of 6 we were disappointed to see all but one were set up for 2-4 people max, and most clientele here were students on laptops. The one proper 4 seater was covered in used cups and plates on trays and cleaning bowls and sprays, however I found 2 additional seats, pulled them to the table and hoped some staff would appear to continue clearing the table. They didn't, so I moved them myself to some nearby vacant 2 seater tables, before fetching our coffee. We enjoyed our coffee and cakes - the children really loved their Halloween gingerbread skeletons. There was only one toilet available/working, the disabled/baby change downstairs. The soap dispenser was empty but fortunately we had some hand sanitiser on us. I never saw any other staff to mention it to, and I never saw anyone come upstairs either so the trays were all still there when we left. A nice place let down by possibly not enough staff (in their defence, all the staff I did see were really busy at the never ending queue downstairs).

My fiance and I visited after a visit to the Eye Clinic and we were surprised to find only one member of staff on duty making drinks and serving. Service was given without a smile and items were advertised on the menu, but were not available. Coffee was pleasant but the staff seemed to have the hump, probably because they were short staffed. Halfway through drinking my coffee, more staff appeared and they smiled!

A lovely cafe between the beach and the main street. With a decoration that mixes the vintage with the modern, Coffee #1 is an excellent place to relax chatting with friends or reading a book. The menu offers a varied repertoire of coffees, smoothies and sweets that will not leave anyone indifferent.

This is my 6th visit and every single time there is only 2 members of staff working the entire building with all tables , upstairs and downstairs, completely full . We popped in for a coffer and snack on a blustery day en-route down the west coast. Long queue at the till, so I looked for a table upstairs while my wife ordered. Only one table free, covered in dumped trays, cups, and plates. Lots of tables with one student on a laptop. Nobody clearing tables. Eventually, we found a table when somebody left. The staff at the counter were great and working very hard. Coffee was great. It just seemed understaffed on the day. Shame.

Nice, spacious coffee shop in the town with a variety of hot and cold coffees. Reasonably priced and the décor was tasteful. I sat upstairs overlooking the opening. The seats were comfortable and we had no trouble finding suitable seating. I personally liked the free water and glasses available for self serve as it was a very hot day and it makes any non-coffee drinkers not feel pressured to buy a coffee. Would recommend it for a quick brunch spot during a visit to the town due to its close proximity to both the beach and the rest of the town.

We came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning in Wales. We were on the lookout for vegan breakfast, they had a few options including toast, meusli with soy milk(instead of yogurt) and oatmeal with soy milk (rather than milk). Good breakfast, but the service was quite slow.

Not impressed with service. My order included a glass of water. The member of staff serving me never said anything while taking the order. The manager came out from the back area and started on my order. I paid and was told my order was at the end of the counter. It was missing the glass of water. I politely stated the order included a glass of water. The manager selected an empty tumbler, smacked it onto a machine top next to them. Filed it from a tap and brought it over whilst at the same time pointing to my left and muttering something unintelligible. I looked in the direction of the pointing to see a tray set on a table with glasses and a water jug. The staff member and manager only had to say I was to help myself to water which was on the table. There wasn't a notice at the counter and the location of the tray is obscured from view when at the ordering point. I'm annoyed with myself at not challenging the manager's attitude at the time and putting it down here. But at least now it's been said.

Unfortunately after the decorators left they didn't check if the windows would open. It did get very warm up there but I'm sure that they will soon rectify it. Hopefully before the Realy hot weather sets in.

We visited here on a Wednesday afternoon @ 3.30 approximately. Tables had not been cleared and we had to search to find a clean table. I assume the coffee shop was short of staff and the table clearing suffered accordingly. This could be due to Covid. The service was excellent at the counter. The coffee was not hot, but that seems on a par with most coffee retailers these days. I believe this is a health and safety thing?

Teacakes!!! They are amazing. Only £2 something and huge. Vegan spread also available for them which is great. Really nice selection of juices. Chai latte is really nice and tastes of proper spices as opposed to the artificial taste of some other coffee shops. Only issue I've had is the milk has been a bit burnt for my latte a couple of times but then majority of the time isn't burnt.

This is most definitely the best coffee one young lady in charge is so amiable absolutely nothing is too much trouble for her I like my toast very well done it takes ages on the grill and I only want my coffee when toast is ready so she puts in on as soon as I'm in the door and she always has a smile on her face she makes it an absolute pleasure to go in if we lived nearer would be in every day! A great pity all their shops weren't nearly as good as this hope she stays!!!

I love the atmosphere here but was honestly so disappointed with my drink today. We ordered a white mocha deluxe and a chocolate salted caramel frappucino. I paid round £7 for drinks that did not even taste good. I didn't even go half way through mine cause I thought there was no point in forcing myself. Wish we opted for a different place. I used to like it for how cozy it is and for it's hot chocolate.

Fantastic coffee lounge with a wide selection of lovely pastries. Vegans and veggies are catered for with multiple options for a snack or full lunch. Also different milks including coconut and soya and even dairy free chocolate for the top of the capo. The staff were friendly and efficient. Can't recommend high enough particularly for those with different dietary requirements.

Amazingly warm staff and environment. I wanted something naughty and chose a Vanilla Soy Latte, I got a choice of bean free of charge (something which places like Starbucks charge you extra) I was given a suggestion as to which would taste nicer with a sweet syrup and they knew their stuff, it was genuinely the nicest balance of sweet and bitter and one of the best cups of coffee I've had, ever. The store fit is warm and cosy, well spaced so you can comfortably have a conversation with people. The prices are only slightly lower than Costa/Starbucks/Nero but the quality is far better, as is the service. My only regret is that I didn't go for a second slice of Victoria Sponge!

First visit to this near seafront, two storey coffeehouse in Aber. Not cheap, but very accommodating and the book collection you can browse is first rate. Peaceful and friendly, and well populated by working students. The cakes and the coffee were perfect, so we would go there again.

I do like a Coffee#1. My first experience of one was in Weymouth and I was surprised when I found out that it's a chain. They haven't got a branch anywhere near me so they weren't on my radar. The Aberystwyth branch is comfortable and nicely decorated. The coffee is delicious and the cakes look amazing. I had toast here and it was really nice. Lots of empty mugs left on tables and slightly robotic service, hence the missing 5th star.

For a coffee shop that has won multiple awards, its aesthetically pleasing at best. The food and drinks that are available are full of flavour and very tasty however you don't get much for the high price tag. If you're looking for a coffee shop that's value for money, walk away. But if you're ready to splash some cash on small cakes and drinks for the sake of its luxury taste, I'd highly recommend.

Like Carlsberg adverts, its probably the best place to get a coffee to your liking, and their tea leaves are super tasty, too. Very accommodating staff and Sam and Emma are fantastic managers who have an abundance of energy to keep the place going with such a lovely ambience. The queues are a pain, but the flexibility in the trays are worse especially seeing poor souls drop everything. If you can go at a more quiet time you'll have a really good experience.

My favourite "fast food' restaurant in Aber. I love the coffee always made just how I like it. Excellent portuguese tarts and other confectionaries. Lovely sandwiches and a lovely use of an old building. The upstairs boasts a central opening that looks down on the hubub below. Always a pleasant service by capable staff. Here's to the end of lockdown.

Lovely decor and atmosphere in this coffee house. We had tea hot chocolate as we aren't coffee drinkers but both my wife's tea and my hot chocolate were satisfying. Not too pricey either.

I love the coffee here. It is the best in Newport in my opinion. I can drink it without sweetener and enjoy it! The decaffeinated soya Cappuccino is excellent. The food is all dairy and the fruit has been suspect (looked like it was going off). The only thing I can eat is the popcorn which is nice. The décor is cosy and the toilets work and are clean. It is nice they have a wall of books. I've seen children pick books while I was there. The staff are really friendly and the customer service great but I have had to leave without a coffee because it took too long for them to go through the queue. I particularly like the loyalty scheme. I recommend this place for coffee.

Amazing coffee, my wife is right fussy about her drink but she was over the moon when she had her first cup here. My boys (17 & 20) had ham n cheese paninis and were silent whilst eating (say no more) where as i had rooibos (loose). We were all very happy with everything especially my coffee mad wife who made a point of going down the same street on our way home when visiting Aberystwyth so she could pop in for her daily fix. Nice staff. Shame about the drinks, Not up to the standard we are use to from the company. Plastic cup so damaged it wouldn't stand up on it own, staff member hide the fact by using other cups on tray. Frappè full of large chunks of ice and whole ice cubes. Will not be returning.

I was in Aberystwyth for the day and was told this was one of the best coffee houses around. They werent wrong! The interior is lovely and while you are waiting in the huge que, take the time to look around at the interior its beautiful. The range of hot beverages are very good including things like Turmeric latte, i was tempted but didnt! I opted for a skinny latte and 2 home made welsh cakes with butter. Apart from my latte being cold, an error quickly rectified, it was a very very enjoyable experience. We are visiting Aberystwyth again at the end of the month so will be visiting No1 coffee again!

Hard working friendly staff, but not enough, so huge queue. Probably run by one of those bosses who doesn't understand that understaffing means less turnover and aggrieved customers. Not my main point though. Had a toasted sandwich, picked from the display cabinet and when it arrived it was, well, half a sandwich, ie if you were to make a sandwich and cut it in half, that's what we got! Asked the very busy member of staff, who actually said "she must of pushed two half sandwiches together in the cabinet, sorry". Half a sandwich! Honest! Deceptive if you ask me. Half. A. Sandwich! Anyway, coffee was alright, smoothie was made out of water and the French dressing was awful. Nice decor, which is why it gets a reluctant 3. See my review of the bar across the road, the White Horse, and then hang out at the other side of the castle, as it's alright over there. We were gobsmacked for at least an hour after leaving. Half a sandwich! He actually thought it was normal! I ask you!
