Michelle & Barney were a lovely couple running a local family run cafe. The were friendly and presented a welcoming service. The breakfast was value for money and very tasty, the cafe was very clean and the photos on the walls were from her parents who run a photo printing service few doors away. We will revisit River Cafe again in Bedford next time we are there & will recommend to my friends & family. Raj and Nicky

Dropped in by chance with friends for a cuppa and it was great - the staff were friendly, the cafe itself is lovely and clean and the tea wasn't overpriced. Food looked good too, especially the cakes (which looked homemade). Great place, will definitely revisit!

After reading the reviews I decided to try the River Cafe and was so glad that I did. I went for a Full English and it was done to perfection and served quickly. Prices are surprisingly reasonable given the location in terms of being situated in the town centre. The cafe is modern and we'll presented and in keeping with the area. I was served by a very friendly lady who was attentive and accommodating. Would I go back?; definitely. Well done the River Cafe.

Very nice Cafe. Friendly staff/ owner. I had coffee which was good, and English breakfast... nicely cooked. I would prefer free range eggs, hence four stars. Overall very nice, would visit again.

Good service, cheap brunch, well-cooked, cheap and nasty sausages, which are low quality and contain lots of hard gristle. I would happily pay more for delicious locally sourced sausages (Bedford market is opposite so there's no excus!). Coffee is average, and bottled Innocent orange juice. I would come back but will have an omelette, or basically anything that doesn't include the dreadful sausages.
